My Mom was an ICU nurse in Canada we both just sat through this and cried. I don't know what else to say except thank you. You've made something timeless and special here. I was wondering - how many other physicians did you interview other than just the one featured in the short film? How long did the nurses wear the cameras for?
@@yasminomran6720 I am in Arizona. I think it was perfect that chose AZ. Like he said, at one point we had the highest cases in the WORLD. And there were mass gatherings of people protesting NOT to wear a mask. They fight with store owners/workers about having to wear a mask. Just yesterday, while my cousin was ringing up a customer at her store, that same customer told her that they should disinfect the store because that same customer HAS covid.. many people here don't care..
@@yasminomran6720 At the time of filming, it was the State with the highest number of new cases per capita in the US as well as the highest death rate, and was leading in the World also.
I wish you find the time to take care of your own health, mentally and physically it must be exhausting. God bless you for the work you do to try to save people's lives.
I think about the medical staff working not just in our country but across the world all the time. Thankfully most of my family on both sides of the family got vaccinated as soon as we could after watching both my Aunt and Grandmother die late last year from Covid. I do my best to share my family's experience to people who are on the fence in the hopes it will help them decide to get the vaccine. I don't want anyone else to go through 81 days of suffering like my Grandma did. The nurses though were wonderful the entire time and I wish this would stop so you can all get some rest.
Honestly that is the scariest, and saddest, part of this whole mess. People dying away from the people they love, and often times they are not allowed to have a traditional funeral with family in attendance. I'm not a religious person, but I do understand the importance of closure, for the departed and their families. Not being there when they pass, not have a proper send off, there's no closure which I can't help but think that causes a lot of unfinished business which can prevent a spirit from moving on, to whatever afterlife they believe in.
It very very tragic. What makes it worse is its largely preventable with a free vaccine that's available almost everywhere, a luxury most other countries don't have.
Nurses and doctors are going to need a lot of therapy after this is over. I have two friends who are doctors and relatives who are nurses and they're all scared and tired.
Not only after the pandemic is “over,” we needed it from the beginning to prevent getting so burnt out that we lose the ability to function or care. Now that most places have adequate PPE, it’s a great time for hospital administrations to focus on the mental health of their bedside staff. Better late than never.
@@carolynworthington8996 Yeah, they often don't have time to have a meal during the day, which is dangerous for them and their patients. And I imagine when their shift is over all they want to do is go home and be with their families.
Honestly, programs like this NEED to be played constantly at regular TV. Unless you work on a hospital, people won’t realize how important your time of life is.
So true! There is only one problem i see with that! Sorry i have to say this! Those who Won't Wear Masks or Get Vaccinated won't care! They will say it's all fake! It's all actor's! It's Propaganda put out by Biden and his fake administration! They have it "covered" with the home remedies that they got from who they trust over the internet! All from the B.S. Started By Donald "Bonespurs" Trump's and his administration! Helped ahead by the "spineless" and totally QUIET Republican Congress! And furthered even more by the state level Republican's! Until they get it and end up fighting for there lives! Or loose a family member to it! After that family member has fought it and lost the battle! They won't believe a word we say!
@@danielseverson3173 you have no idea how people who dont trust the jab really feel.. people are actually able to research and think for themselves..yes this is dreadful but dont assume that people are just being difficult. They have genuine concerns..
I've gotta give massive props to the family for allowing their grandmother's last moments to be shown like this. It's so important that people really see what's going on, and to have the strength to let your loved one be a face for the victims is incredible. Sending lots of love and prayers their way.
My father Inlaw passed 4/24/21 from covid, he went into full cardiac arrest 2x and was rushed to the hospital. He was smart he called 911 on himself for chest pains so once ambulance arrived he was already coded, 6 epinephrine were used to jump his heart. Once arrived he coded again and shortly after that he was brain dead. A nurse held my father In-laws hand as he passed away once my husband made decision to pull support off him. I did get to speak to this nurse and thank her so much, you really don’t know what a nurse goes through.
I just plain do not understand some of these callous comments. I was a family member on the other end of that computer saying goodbye to my big brother a few months ago. It was heartbreaking. We didn’t even know if he could hear us but the nurse was standing there holding his hand just like he had promised. God bless them all.
@@Goldenretriever-k8m Saying horrible things to begin with is just bad news. No matter what you say on the internet, you are no different outside the internet.
I served 20 years in the Air Force and people say "Thank you for your service." But honestly it was really nothing compared to the service provided by these nurse heroes. Thank you all.
@@calebcruz2812 i mean thats a given, I already do that wherever I can. I just dont know whether or not they accept donations like masks, scrubs, bottled water, etc.
@@ghostofsilence2697 I'm pretty sure they do. Last year nurses were having to go out of pocket for PPE and were pleading for anyone who had PPE to donate it. There were several videos where people made PPE at home using the right patterns and materials and donated it. Check with your local hospital to see what they need.
I spent 3 weeks in a coma on a ventilator here in Melbourne Australia with covid. A further 4 weeks in rehab learning how to walk again. There are no sufficient words to describe the appreciation I have for the nurses, doctors, nurses, janitors, nurses, allied health workers and nurses who cared for me and helped bring me back to life. Incredible people.
Yes, they have to work outside too because of lack of space. All of this and added on to helping those who'd need the hospital for other medical reasons. I bet this is extremely traumatic for them. Yet people continue to say no to vaccines and masks. They do not understand that it's a luxury to say no to something like getting vaccines and we can't afford it right now. Everyone must work together or we'll keep getting new variants and having new waves.
@@freshprince3891 I don't know where you live but it's very obvious over here. Our ICUs have run out and our number in cases are spiking really bad. (edit: our schools opened only one week ago and I know 3 of them already closed for a few weeks due to the insane amount of covid cases the students and staff were getting.) I don't understand why people won't get the vaccine or at LEAST wear their masks. Wait- yeah I do. It's because they think it means they're betraying their party's beliefs and are too proud to admit they were wrong, but that doesn't matter! They should realize they are in a literal pandemic, and just like all the other pandemics in history, they should know vaccines and wearing masks DOES work. It's because of these people that our cases are higher than they've ever been this ENTIRE freaking pandemic. EVER. I often look around and see people saying the pandemic isn't a big deal, that masks don't work. A doctor told someone I know that had covid she could and should go to Disney with covid! They say this when our hospitals have no more room due to being filled with covid patients, and they don't even wear masks! That's why it appears to "not work", because they don't wear them and then new cases happen. It's quite frankly idiotic. I always get so riled up by people like you because you ignore the truth and try to hide it by claiming it's a sheeple thing when in reality it's just science and common knowledge. You along with other people equate our concerns to fear, which isn't the same thing. Concern turns into action to better the situation while fear pushes it away, so I'd say people that don't want to acknowledge the damage done by the pandemic and the damage they add to it due to their dismissal of it's existence, fear. or just blatant purposeful ignorance. I don't care if you aren't seeing the major impacts in your community, it IS getting worse and it's all because of people that are either too lazy or too proud to do anything about it. I know I wrote a lot, but I'm sick and tired of people writing lame excuses to ignore a very obvious situation that needs collective action to stop it. I'm tired of picking up my community's slack because of their beliefs against masks and vaccines. It sucks. But it sucks even more that the only ones who can truly make it better is people like you. The ones that won't change their minds no matter what because of the media, misguided friends, and other misinformation they indulge themselves in. I hope you understand one day the pain and damage the pandemic has caused, especially from the people who ignored it's existence.
The school administrator lady who did everything she could to protect her and her family and yet still being the one suffering because of other selfish people will never sit right with me. The world is definitely unfair.
@Carrie Jackson You can't always "do everything" and you need to face that reality. This is life. This is a pandemic. You can't do anything to a person burned so bad that they were literally cooked alive.
How did she even get Covid? If she did everything she was supposed to, took all the precautions, stayed home...how do she still co tract Covid? Was she really being that cautious?
I mean.. sort of. They are an integral part of the care and the team. But... without the doctor, you wouldn't have had any of the surgeries or the treatmenrs by the nurses.
@@thehangmansdaughter1120 Who exactly do you think orders the nurses to perform the tasks that they do? Most RNs barely grasp the concepts of basic biology
@@MsKillerdx Generally speaking doctors DON'T instruct nursing staff. They're not around to do so. Most wouldn't dare. Doctors spend less than 3 minutes with each patient on rounds. They have no idea who the patient is, what their issues are or what treatment has already been given. The vast majority of clinical care is decided and provided by senior nursing staff. The average surgeon can't even draw blood. They come in, cut, and don't even stitch. When they come to see your afterwards they take recommendations from nursing staff regrading pain management, antibiotic use and after care. They're not around long enough to know how much pain you're in, what your movement is like or how you will cope at home. Only once, in all the many, many times, my life has been saved has it ever been a doctor who did the saving. A blue code is called and it's nurses on the floor who spring into action. Doctors get paged and eventually show up, but it's the nurse straddling you pumping your heart, putting a mainline into your chest and saving your life. Not the doctor. S/he would struggle to get lines in quickly because that's not what they do. They work on a macro level, not a practical one. Look at any ICU and you'll see a world run by nurses. Need something? Ask a nurse. Want an explanation regarding something? Ask a nurse. Need some practical care? Ask a nurse. I don't know what kind of experience you've had in hospitals, but clearly it's very limited. Watch less tv. That's not how hospitals work. There simply aren't enough doctors available for them to run the place. Most wards get two visits a day, if they're lucky. The rest of the time it's nurses who run the show. Without them the place would grind to a sharp stop and patients would die. You seem to believe that nurses are uneducated, that they don't understand medicine. This couldn't be further from the truth. Nurses have vastly more experience and practical knowledge than doctors. They work across multiple wards and specialties. They can do most of what doctors can do, and a great deal more besides, dealing with issues from head to toe. In some countries nurses even prescribe medications more frequently than doctors, because they can actually see what's going on where doctors can't. If I had to choose who I got all my care from besides actual surgery (and even sometimes then) I'd choose nurses every time. They're knowledgeable, highly skilled and far more useful than a doctor who only treats one part of a patient. It's attitudes like yours that denigrate the profession, treating nurses as if they're there only to wipe backsides and mop up vomit. It's those beliefs that lead to the chronic underpayment of nursing staff and drives experienced, capable medical personal to leave the profession. This is why hospitals are constantly searching for new nurses and can't find any, leading to patient deaths. You completely fail to understand the roles filled by doctors and nurses, nor how the modern medical profession works. This is not 1940, when nurses said "yes doctor" to everything he said and only spoke when spoken to. That's not how modern hospitals operate. They simply can't do that anymore. There aren't enough doctors or nurses to maintain that system. Only someone who enjoys good health and has never faced a medical crisis could still hold such outdated and backward beliefs regarding the roles of modern nursing.
I was for two weeks in an ICU with Covid-19 in Berlin, Germany and can testify to how hard and selflessly these people work -- all of them; nurses, nurse assistants, cleaning crews, doctors, physical therapists, psychologists; all of them. It is amazing. I am very thankful to all of them for keeping me alive and as comfortable as possible in very difficult circumstances. Thank you for making this video.
I’m an icu nurse in Columbus Ohio, it’s been the hardest time, lots of nurses have left, and if we get another huge wave, we are worse off now than when it started. Idk how we will do it. We are all so tired.
We see you, we recognize the excellent job y'all do and most importantly we thank you for keep going and not giving up on those patients in need of your profession.
You’re doing a great job! My aunt is a nurse and feels exactly the way a lot of nurses do and almost quit several times because of people’s stupidity. Thank you for sticking it out through these unfortunately challenging times.
Come to Northeast Arizona..it’s not bad at all here. Furthermore, my hospital has only had two deaths in the past several months and they’ve both been fully vaccinated patients.
I’m in this nursing Reddit group and many of the nurses said that the doctors barely go in, only when it was necessary. However, the nurses are the one who constantly comes in and interact with the patients. I have a huge respect for nurses! Thank you for all you do!

I am a nurse, and I personally want to say Thank you for making this documentary. The narrarator and producers truly grasped the true emotion and trauma that we went through during the covid crisis. Causing being "responsible" totally worked for the lady in this video. Just like almost every other person who gets it, "always followed the rules." So sad how athletes make so much more money playing with basketballs/footballs etc. while hardworking healthcare workers work endless hours and are exposed to heartbreaking tragedies just to make it through the week
Its entertainment, entertainment makes more money cause they are given more money by the people instead compared to the money earned by hospitals which has a higher pay to people compared to money earned
Why are you profiling athletes like this? Not all athletes are stupid heartless idiots. :/ Just call out stupid idiots for who they are-stupid idiots. And I hope this short docu can open people's eyes to what nurses really go through. I'm a student nurse and I sat next to a Grandmother saying goodbye to her granddaughter (who was on the other side off the world and couldn't come because of Covid) one day via Skype. That broke my heart. Please take precautions
@JitzyJT I’m sorry to hear someone say that. Seriously. If your parents or grandparents or any other person you hold dear were the ones was sick, would you say the same thing? It is heartbreaking to know your family is dying but be unable to do anything because of lack of resources. All life is equally important. Next time, please think about what others may feel before you comment.
When they cut from the lady dying to people in crowds without masks, remember how it made you feel. That is how nurses have felt for almost a year now.
Masks can't keep out a virus. Taking away people's freedom for good, will life be worth living. People need to be free to make their OWN decisions. They USE the virus.
Nurses and death care workers have been overwhelmed with Covid for almost a year. It makes me sick that people still won't wear a mask, social distance themselves, nor do they have any respect, humility or empathy for families, people and essential workers.
2x more people die from obesity world wide every year than from covid. If you are wearing a mask you better eat no junk/fast food and better be in the best shape of your life. If not you are just braindead
This was a tragically beautiful piece. Working as a nurse in a covid ICU this really hit home and made me cry. I wish people could see that the pandemic is still going on and go get vaccinated to protect themselves and their families and loved ones.
I had a coworker use the phrase “before and after Covid” and I mental eye rolled so much…. This whole pandemic has exhausted me and I don’t even work in the medical field.
This broke my heart. My dad pass away from COVID in July 2020. I didn’t get a chance to say goodbye or be with him. Watching his video made me think the nurses are the real heroes. There wages should raise up .

Those nurses and doctors are corrupt cowards getting paid loads of money to spread propaganda. The lowest form of human beings. Literally killing people with ventilators and the vax. It's sick
There absolutely needs to be sweeping legislation to offer no cost psychological care to medical workers who serve during covid. I’m not comparing by any means, but the first thing that comes to mind is the healthcare battle for first responders who served on 9/11. This needs to be on the table now before it becomes a crisis.
I'll tell you, my wife is an RN and works 4 13 hours shift in a Covid unit every week. She is under contract until April and she already told me she doesn't know if she wants to be a nurse anymore. It's really getting to her.
Just because I saw this video I’m even more determined to become a nurse now. My heart breaks for the people whose lives have been lost , their families and the healthcare staff that are involved. Id like to be able to help out in the shortage.
I cried through this entire film. You can see the pain in each and every nurses face's from the daily trauma they endure. It's like these nurses have been sent by god to care for humanity during our worst moments.
The sad thing is that what we saw in this video was only an extremely tiny amount of people that have suffered or died to the coronavirus. With over half a million Americans dead to COVID, that means that since the pandemic began, approximately 1 in 662 Americans have lost their lives to Covid-19.
This is no different than any ICU during regular flu season. My ICU gets 10 transfers a day from long term care homes during flu season. 70% of the people who come in with the flu from long term care don’t recover and never leave. This is nothing more than a propaganda film. More people died from hunger in the last 3 months than have died from covid since the beginning! There are much more viable pandemics such as cancer and hunger but we do nothing about this! Wake up don’t believe the propaganda.
I’m seeing a lot of comments that don’t seem to realize the full scope of what these nurses have to do. There is a reason why ICU nurses work with one patient exclusively. First, these patients aren’t stable, they need around the clock meds and care to keep their vitals in a normal range. The tubing needs to be changed frequently based on med compatibility, IV lines need to be patent and free of infection, and nurses have to constantly administer medication while knowing what side effects to recognize and possible adverse reactions. On top of this they have to help with bowel care, skin care, and overall cleanliness. In addition, patients on a vent can’t feed themselves so nurses have to give either tube feedings or IV feedings. This whole time, the nurse is doing preventative care for pressure sores and constantly updating the doctor regarding changes in the patient and how they are responding to the medications. And of course they are charting every single interaction with the patient. This is everything a nurse has to do with just one patient, I cannot imagine the stress these nurses are going through taking care of 3 at one time. There is so much care that patients in the ICU need and the least we can do for these nurses taking care of them is to do our part; wear masks, get vaccinated, and avoid large gatherings. Edit: I didn’t even mention respiratory care because that is whole other bag of worms I don’t even want to touch. It is way too complicated for me to even attempt to explain.
thank you for this. I am a nursing student and I have been with nurses that have to take care of 3 or 4 patients. When I first started, I didn't understand the extent of what having no time to eat or go to the bathroom meant to nurses because there is always something that needs to be done for a patient or for another patient. I have not seen any comments not realizing the full scope (maybe bc I'm late to the video) but it's always great to provide the full extent of things to provide a better understanding rather than the gist!
If you complaint like that in my country you'll just get an answer like "that's your job" "It's the risk of your job" "be grateful you still have a job, don't complaint please"
This is SO important and everyone who be made to watch this. It brought tears to my eyes and truly broke my heart. These nurses and doctors are working so hard, and so are these patients bodies. It's truly mind-blowing and disturbingly selfish and heartless to act like COVID isn't a big deal or real. Clips of people partying is sickening... this could happen to ANYONE.
Molly Burke The problem is this: if a person is vulnerable to getting sick or has autoimmune disorder or is elderly, then they should stay home where they feel safe and order online or have family help out. The rest of us need to get on with our lives, mask-free. COVID is 99.7% SURVIVABLE and I know that there's a certain portion of the mask-wearing population that does not want to hear this EVEN THOUGH IT IS GOOD NEWS. This statistic comes right off the CDC and WHO websites. From the .gov website, the death toll for 2020 was less or just under par with 2019 and 2018. We have walked mask-free for decades and survived. Those who are vulnerable will, of course, get sick just as they do every flu season. Some will die. This film showed ELEVEN heart-breaking situations but I guarantee there are units - such as the cancer unit, heart unit, and trauma unit - in that hospital and others where the heart-breaking situations and inevitable death toll is triple that! 99.7% survivable....better recovery stats than the common cold....but when this is mentioned, people GET SO ANGRY. Why? Because this is a media manipulated illness and people can't think for themselves anymore. All the businesses that had to close, people out of work, kids out of school...completely unnecessary! By its very definition, this was not a "pandemic". Sure it could happen to anyone but so could getting hit by a car and getting COVID is about as likely as that...as hard as it is for the TV-glued public to hear that.
80% if the population are largely unaffected by the virus. How about people with cancer and other diseases. Covid us not the only game in town. I am heartily sick. If the emotional blackmail
Yes, these nurses are being overworked. My daughter is a healthcare worker that has been continually doing lab work. She is so exhausted from it all and it becomes so emotional; I couldn't imagine being a nurse actually inside the ICU! Now there are states jumping the gun and threatening to destroy any progress that has been made against the virus!
Well done Valerie, please make sure you get your 2nd shot as soon as your weeks are up and then your booster..you could be saving your life even if you get sick from Covid ( the various variants are around at the same time. ). Stay safe
If you haven't already had the virus, definitely good thinking to get vaccinated!! I just hope you don't assume the vaccine will keep you from catching covid. Hopefully it'll help lessen symptoms
I agree. Seeing Anna felt like I was seeing someone I knew. Living in south Texas with a majority Hispanic community. I was able to see my mom, teacher, mother in law, and friend in Anna.
These nurses will feel this time for the rest of their lives it will never leave them. Thank you doesn't heal them but we owe it to them at the very least. This is actually what a true hero is.
I am an RN here. I floated to covid floor often because of high census back in December and January. I can't tell how many deaths I have witnessed and each time a part of me died too. No matter how long you are in the profession, you could never get used to it. The hardest part about it is I personally don't want people to see my emotions, specially I am a male nurse. I dream about work often. I wish everyone could see it. To all my fellow nurses, I am proud of you.
As a member of the general public, we're massively proud of you, too! I'm so sorry that some people are still not taking precautions to help reduce the number of infections. Take care of yourself.
I’ve been struggling with COVID-19 since the end of July. I was on a ventilator for 9 days and almost didn’t make it. I was terrified that I would die alone. I will be eternally grateful to Adam, a COVID-ICU nurse, who held my hand through the nights when I was afraid to die alone. I will never forget you, Adam!
There has been great research in the use of microdosing psilocybin (magic mushrooms), as well as controlled dosages of ecstacy (trails being done with soldiers with ptsd). Please do look into trying both of these things. I have first had experience to their efficacy.

I was separated from my wife and 1.5 year old son for three months in the first half of 2020. It is tough work but I personally wouldn't change a thing. After being a father, being a nurse is the thing in my life I am most proud of and the most important aspect of my identity. It is a great honor to be colleagues with the women you see at work in this vid.
I hear you. Step down here too. Got covid during my pregnancy and unknowingly gave it to my 1 year old. My husband was deployed at the time but contracted it overseas. I’m back at work now but dealing with all of this while dealing with the after math of covid symptoms has been brutal. This documentary was so accurate I haven’t stopped thinking about it. This last year has been so devastating. And we are the lucky ones. I’ve unfortunately lost some coworkers too soon because they contracted it while working and unfortunately lost their battle. The people saying that “yeah people die every day” either don’t have kids or don’t have loved ones that have been affected. Ignorance is stronger than ever. So sad.
Thank you all for everything you are doing! I hope to never have a family member in this situation as a patient (though I worry sometimes)... it's up to the rest of us to do our part by masking up, staying away from others when we can, and getting the vaccine when it's our turn.

They make a very livable wage. They knew the risks when they chose their career. No one ever feels like they are paid will enough no matter what career you are in.

This just had me in tears. How can people still deny this pandemic and be so selfish as to continue to endanger other peoples lives. These nurses are heroes.
This barely scratches the surface. The exhaustion, the frustration, the anger, the sadness. Not only for the staff at the bedside, but the leaders fighting for supplies and watching their staff walk away. I work with new graduate nurses and this year has by far been the most traumatic and difficult for them. Even in school their hours for clinical are slashed to save burden on PPE supplies and tired preceptor nurses. They are starting fast, running hard, and learning as they go. And then you go home, take a shower, hug your family, and then read up on friends going on trips, going to weddings, having date nights after you have been home for 365 days with no break and you just scream and cry yourself to sleep.
I agree, I have a surgery that I have delay because we are short of staff and I feel remorse to do it now because my coworker will get more patients. Iam preying this go back to normal .
These nurses are just so special. When I was facing a stillborn birth and a neonatal death the following year, nurses were there with compassionate words. Two kids and thirteen years later, I remember.
This made me respect nurses even more than I did before. Their job is to physically care for patients, but they do so much more than that.Thank you nurses for all that you do and for all the sacrifices that you and for families have made during this time!

The pure mental agony of having to deal with so much death every single day would bring the strongest person to their knees, but not these nurses. They deserve everything and more for their dedication to saving lives.

I can’t, literally broke my heart. Fully respect to those who work in hospital under this much pressure. I have never seen the bad picture of being nurse.
I’m not an ITU nurse but have been a nurse on the wards during this pandemic. It is so hard to watch so many people pass in such quick succession. One of the patients that I looked after on the day they died had already been on my ward for 3.5 months and I absolutely adored her (we all did) and it felt like I was losing a family member. I then had to wash her body and within ten minutes of her leaving for the morgue there was a new patient within her bed. One day I had three patients die in one shift. I feel lucky in a way that all of my patients who did pass were not for resuscitation/escalation to critical care (it was decided ahead of time that it would not be in their best interest to intubate them.) I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to do so much for a patient and for it to amount to nothing because they’re just not strong enough to fight it. It’s heartbreaking to look upon the face of anyone who is dying. But the face of someone who has been tubed and sedated makes it even worse somehow. I watch these videos and realise I’m just not strong enough to face this day in, day out. Thank you so much to all the ITU nurses. You’re doing such an amazing job!!!
Nobody is buying it. We all have seen the countless videos, read countless articles, have listened to countless GOOD doctors and scientists, and know that people are being killed with ventilators and the vax. This FLU is a lie. How dumb do u think people are? Wear only a mask and everything will be ok? Sure, that's some "pandemic" there. Not. I hope you know that you're just a bad person.
So thankful for the nurses who realize that it counts a lot for all of the efforts they put in to care for dying patients, including the sedated intubated. At the very minimum iIt amounts to a daughter knowing that EVERYTHING possible was done to help her mother live.
I have a good friend whose girl worked in this kind of ICU. Every day she came home, and broke down in his arms, crying uncontrollably. She recently quit due to the mental anguish. THESE NURSES AND DOCTORS ARE HEROES. Sara, you're an angel.
It has been months since the news stopped showing footage from ICU wards. Why? Because it is too upsetting? It is important to show the reality in hospitals!
It’s mainly because no camera crews are allowed in and most hospitals have policies in place against recording patients for any reason. When the outbreak first started US new channels were showing footage from other countries- people felt mislead so they stopped doing that. Leaving almost no way to show the true experience and trauma going on behind closed doors- I really appreciate the media finding a way in.
Nurses like these helped save my life when I was dying from Covid. I was one of the lucky ones that was able to pull through because of ECMO, but I am forever changed. Everyone should have to watch this video. I have been curious about what I went through when I was out, and what the nurses went through who were taking care of me. I will be forever grateful. You always think it won't be you - until it is - and life is never the same. So humbled by the kindness and selflessness of these special people.
People still don’t take this seriously I wish everyone in America would watch this. We cannot thank the healthcare workers enough. Nurses are incredible people.
@Jane Keller What needs to happen is authority needs to enforce STRICT and HARSH consequences for breaking masks mandates and stay home orders. That's the only way people will take things seriously! It's like dealing with kids in a classroom. They don't care about rules! They care about the consequences (good and bad) for obeying and breaking them.
we all need to find out to the best of our ability how this got started and why. china does not allow fair and clear monitoring by the WHO and international teams of their facility close to ground 0. Myself and others have had enough of the weekly fear re generation, at least in the UK, that we are numb to the brutality for our sanity. Live and let live, lest we will never literally live again, before our days are up.
And this is why I am in nursing school. I believe I was put on this earth to help people and be there when they need someone the most. Shoutout to all the nurses in this pandemic and the ones in school keep pushing we got this!
People think about running into danger when everybody is running away in terms of firefighters. Yet I think of you and I think of my husband the EMT and all of you who rushed in facing the danger head on, so that the people who needed help could get it. May God bless you and keep you safe. My husband doesn't like being called a hero and I know most people feel uncomfortable but you and anybody else who wears that uniform knowing this risk and accepting it is a hero too.
I previously got one dose back in March and never went for second. Now I’m seeing all of this again and I’m getting mine tomorrow. It’s not worth it. I don’t want to die like that.
Thank you! @xtrayx and heatherfeather also. I’m a nurse but I work in the nursing home setting we lost almost 30 patients in two months in 2020 when it swept through here. Once almost everyone was vaccinated I had thought we were past it. And then we just had another patient pass from it because her family wouldn’t get her vaccinated.

Thank you. I am a nurse. And this is what people need to see. Especially those that feel this is no big deal, arent being responsible or wont get the vaccine. I think alot of people dont understand whats going on and dont see that their behavior has a ripple effect... you may not die as a younger person but you can spread it and those you infect can die. On top of that younger people are having lasting neurologic and cardiovascular and respiratory damage after covid infection . One of my friends a 35 yo nurse who worked in ICU contracted covid and has had to quit due to brain damage from her infection . And id also like to say, as a nurse- the fact that we suffer in silence is not just with covid. Covid has made deaths more frequent and i have no doubt there will be ptsd as a result. And i surely dont want to minimize how horrible this experience has been . But i think it’s important to note that nurses have PTSD from their jobs even without covid. Its a heavy load when you care.. and you do not leave it at work. Nurses are the backbone of healthcare and if theres any silver lining its that maybe the importance and value of nurses is highlighted here. We all deserve better pay and better patient to nurse ratios. In the ICU the ratio is usually better (not now with covid) but on most other units, a nurse can have way more patients than is safe. Ive worked 12 hr shifts with a load of 9 critically ill patients im taking care of. Its unsustainable and dangerous. If you want the best care for patients, you have to treat the nurses better.. you cant burn out your nurses and expect them to perform at their best. Patients and nurses deserve better than what we have in US healthcare.
Hey Emma, I'm from Australia & I think medical staff, especially nurses get taken for granted. People need to stop & realise that you guys are people too. It's not that hard to wear a mask. I'm Asthmatic but I still wear one. It makes me angry when I see people that don't take this virus seriously. We have those people here too. I was studying to be a nurse 20 odd years ago. I had to defer a couple of times due to needed knee surgery. I ended up getting a strange illness that affected my mobility, eventually it took the use of my legs all together, so am reliant on a wheelchair. All I ever wanted to be was a nurse. Your all doing a great job. People need to start caring about the medical staff puting themselves in harms way everyday. They need to start taking on some personal responsibility not just for themselves, but for others as well. They might not get the virus but they could spread it. You guys have families too that your trying to keep safe. We were lucky in Australia. Our government came down hard. We went into full lockdown. Businesses & people that had lost their jobs were given government assistance. If you went out to get groceries or go to the local Dr you had to wear a mask. If you couldn't wear one for medical reasons you could get an exemption letter from the Dr. Otherwise you got caught without a mask on you got fined. Testing sites popped up everywhere. Once you got tested you had to go straight home & await results. If you tested positive you had to isolate at home until you tested negative, or you got worse & got taken to hospital. Everywhere you go you either get asked a host of questions about where you've been, have you been to any hotspots, or been in contact with anyone who has tested positive. You get your temperature checked. Businesses have had to introduce Covid safe plans. If they break the rules they will be fined. If we get a few cases of community transmission we go into a lockdown so they can trace all the contacts so the virus doesn't get a chance to spread even more. When this happens we are not allowed to visit others unless it's in a caring capacity; For Food or Medical care; or for 1 - 2 hour of exercise in our local area. All non essential businesses are closed; and you must wear a mask. We have just started vaccinations a week ago. People have been split into groups with people that work or live in high risk areas are vaccinated first. Then people in the vunerable groups, then the general public. Keep on keeping on. Your doing an excellent job. Even though at times it may not feel like it. 💛😷😇.

Still too weak to go back to work. But I will still stand up for any American’s right to not be forced to put any medicine in their bodies. I decided to actually get my vaccine because I feared losing my job over having to be out sick. And I still almost died.
@@rebeccasmith8110 sounds like a funny way to say "I made the irresponsible decision not to get vaccinated, got COVID anyway and almost died, and since I almost died I see how important getting vaccinated is! I worked in NYC during the beginning of the pandemic and these nurses care for these patients the same way even when they are not on camera. Overworked and underpaid. Its what we all signed up for. "Its in our DNA". Thank you for making this video.
I worked in a Covid ward from April 1 - May 17. This portrayal is 100% accurate. The nurses supporting each other, the long hours, the zoom calls, the patients being turned, promising families you’ll hold their loved one’s hand as they pass...the fear in the patients’ eyes, and not having their family member(s) there to ease them. My role was to monitor each patients’ hearts and oxygen saturation, and keep the nurses updated while they were with another patient. I attended many deaths.
@@1927su Hear the irony: No face mask, no service ( in a shop for example). Face mask on beard, you get service( in a shop). Is wearing a mask really for YOUR own good or something else?
A nurse friend said it best I think, she said, “Masks, while not infallible , can actually help slow the wave the covid particles ride on, since people can be asymptotic while having covid , a mask , coupled with a bit of distance , can help others not catch it.” Since there is obviously a pandemic going on, it just made common sense to me, to wear a mask when I’m out and about. I have no problem taking a bit of time to be considerate of others. I know some really feel tread on some how, I just never did. Simple as that for me. While many survive covid, I’ve also lost three people to it. And what they went thru was terrible! It never was political to me, I care for a hospice patient with a respiratory failure diagnosis, I’m around medical personnel who have been around a bunch of sick people AND their families; I personally would feel dreadful if I inadvertently passed this to someone else, who could pass it to their elderly parents, or someone with a compromised immune system . After all this time , it’s pretty obvious that this delta variant is really contagious! If people can help slow the spread , why wouldn’t they?
@@1927su I wouldn't feel dreadful because sick or scared people have no bussiness being outside their homes, to be fair. I don't know where you are from, but in my country, the elderly, have always flooded public transport, packed like sardines, and they still do. Whose fault is it then? It's nice that you care for other people, but by the time you put on a mask, the virus is already at least 15 meters ahead of you.

Everyone who’s lives have been lost mattered. I also had Covid and I’m one the longhaulers my body aches so bad and I can do minimal activities.

Not only after the pandemic is “over,” we needed it from the beginning to prevent getting so burnt out that we lose the ability to function or care. He was smart he called 911 on himself for chest pains so once ambulance arrived he was already coded, 6 epinephrine were used to jump his heart.

(edit: our schools opened only one week ago and I know 3 of them already closed for a few weeks due to the insane amount of covid cases the students and staff were getting.)
I don't understand why people won't get the vaccine or at LEAST wear their masks.
@@thehangmansdaughter1120 Who exactly do you think orders the nurses to perform the tasks that they do? Most RNs barely grasp the concepts of basic biology
@@MsKillerdx rude

Good luck to you. I hope you become a nurse

I cried through this entire film. You can see the pain in each and every nurses face's from the daily trauma they endure. It's like these nurses have been sent by god to care for humanity during our worst moments.
You better make an appointment with your therapist ASAP
I agree Milla
@@Iwishitwas-hl9wj Sure. Stockpilling problems, not a trouble.
We all realize the full scope
@@Hi-qt2nj Speak for yourself. I don't and don't claim to understand.
Nurses are valuable !
thank you for this.
And it does and they are the first to cry help me!!!
Highly disturbing that people believe the virus is a scam. This ain’t gonna be like matrix trust me.

Well done Valerie, please make sure you get your 2nd shot as soon as your weeks are up and then your booster..you could be saving your life even if you get sick from Covid ( the various variants are around at the same time. ). Stay safe

Thank you both for your dedication and hard work, despite all the people who don’t take the virus seriously! You two are rockstars ❤️
I’m a frontline RN too.,..... and I’m so so so incredibly burnt out. I really don’t know how much more I can tolerate, there’s just no end in sight to this
Why dont you nurses and doctors talk about Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquin which saves lives instead of always pushing this toxic vaccine agenda. You take the poison then if you think vaccines are go great. Sheep
Hi I'm an RN and have seen this so much,, many have perished,, so very sad everybody
Dear God....I cried through the whole thing. Absolutely heartbreaking.
Typical NYT consumer. Overly emotional. I had COVID and was in the hospital for 10 days, 6 of those in the COVID ICU on the ventilator. I just got out on August 28th.
But i'm gonna hide and pretend I got vaccinated for my job. Not cause I was scared or anything of actually dying from covid!!"
I didn’t know this woman but I’m heartbroken over her passing.
Like literally sobbing.
Wear a mask people! Get vaccinated if you can.
Yes! It’s just a mask! I swear people act like they are being asked to wear a medieval iron head helmet torture device.. wtf
@@1927su Hear the irony: No face mask, no service ( in a shop for example).
Face mask on beard, you get service( in a shop).
Is wearing a mask really for YOUR own good or something else?
A nurse friend said it best I think, she said, “Masks, while not infallible , can actually help slow the wave the covid particles ride on, since people can be asymptotic while having covid , a mask , coupled with a bit of distance , can help others not catch it.”
Since there is obviously a pandemic going on, it just made common sense to me, to wear a mask when I’m out and about.
The video said she would constantly tell her grandkids and kids to avoid going out... even though she took care of herself it was likely just one of her younger family members that brought the virus home. It's happening too often.
This is so real .I salute my ICU nurse peers for their unwavering dedication. May God bless us with more strength , compassion and commitment ! 🙏🏼🌷🙏🏼
This is why I stay home, I want to take any ounce of pain away from these people that I can.
That’s a good excuse for your own problems and maybe the fact that you’re lazy
@@DANi-dt9sp huh? Did you watch the video? You’re just like that woman’s family that ended up killing her because they refused to wear a mask, talk about lazy
Thank you so much for what you’re doing, I lost my dad on the 18th from Covid and I would never want anyone else to experience the pain of losing a loved one. My dad died alone in the hospital no one deserves to die alone like that trust me we did EVERYTHING we could to protect ourselves at work and when we went out for groceries unfortunately we still caught it. I’m from Az and I wish this asshat of a governor would take this seriously and those stupid Antimaskers who scream about a 99% survival rate those people who died from Covid mattered. Everyone who’s lives have been lost mattered. I also had Covid and I’m one the longhaulers my body aches so bad and I can do minimal activities. If those Antimaskers actually cared to look up the “survival rate” they should care enough to ask those who survived how we’re doing. The majority of the survivors are doing awful, they will never understand until it happens to them.
Thank you ❤️
U can catch it at home too
We had a COVID death in our family and the nurses talk to us and called us like he was the only patient they were caring for. We knew they were running around busy but when they were communicating with us, we had their undivided attention, compassion, and care. They made us have some level of solace in the most difficult situations.
Think of all the cancer deaths with no special attention paid. Guess it was OK that they died alone. All the seniors locked on nursing homes, lonely, isolated, depressed, malnourished, no social interaction, no family. They give up and die slow, painful deaths. Why no film about this?
@@hoffbinder Very true😔
@@hoffbinder respectfully he's just trying to get the message across that nurses are the only strangers who truly care for you when seriously no one else cares
@@hoffbinder Well one thing, death is a serious thing. But cancer doesn’t spread while Covid does. What I’m trying to say is that the nurses are going though more tending to COVID patients in this view. They can’t just eat or drink when they need to, nor can they go to the bathroom. They need to pay attention to their own safety too. It’s much more chaotic for the nurses.
@@hoffbinder You’re right, but that doesn’t mean it’s okay to just ignore covid. One person’s death doesn’t justify another’s death.
Tragic. If you are a nurse reading this, thank you, you are an angel on earth. Take care of yourselves because we need you.
I'm a retired nurse,26 years ,12 hr shifts .I became disabled just before Covid, but nursing is always going to be my love,so these nurses, patients and countless others have my prayers daily .Its sickening Covid wasn't acknowledged as legitimate the last presidents tenure, even when he contracted it .
@@susanjackson3689 thank you for all of your years of nursing 🙏🏼 I agree as the leader of our country he should have expressed how serious it was from the start, and set an example by wearing a mask and taking social distancing seriously. Instead, he held rallies, “don’t worry about it” “it’s going to be gone” “Kung flu”. didn’t wear a mask, contracted it, took the mask off while infected, and chose business over lives. 500k Americans dead. It could have been less with proper leadership. Anyone who says otherwise is in denial.
Yes may God bless us all
🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Lots of love to the nurses and doctors. I can't imagine the pain you're going through, day after day, holding the hand of the dying since their families cannot.
My father passed away last month from covid. Blessings on all those personally impacted by this.
My condolences, may he rest peacefully
