Favourite Korn album?
The first one. Not a bad track. Authentic
Life is peachy
Untouchables.Over the top production, but in a good way.
This album the first one for sure
Take a look in the mirror
Gosh, they did a horrible job explaining it. Lol but I’m sure that was on purpose. I took the album cover as the corruption of innocence, which makes sense, because the album would not exist if their innocence had not been corrupted. The songs are songs for troubled youth so of course we all identify with the vibe behind the cover. The cover is really perfect in that way. Especially once you listen to Daddy, it makes perfect sense
They were on meth at the time 😂😂
Every single member of that band except for maybe David Silveria was absolutely blasted 24/7 at that time. Munkey and Jon are obviously drunk or high in that interview.
Once you listen to Daddy, nothing is ever the same
The album is about abuse so is the cover
Daddy is one of my favorites the heaviest out of the album. Very sad 😢 tho
A lot of people seem to hate Korn, but I don't care what they say, this album is still a metal classic.
For sure, those first 3 albums are amazing metal albums. I'll never forget waiting and waiting for Follow the Leader to come out. It didn't disappoint one bit, I had to be like 12 at the time haha. I was obsessed with those first 3 CDs.
@@enjoi62137 neat story. I got into Korn when I was thirteen, after seeing the "Twisted Transistor" video on Fuse. I then went out and got See You on the Other Side and the greatest hits, which prompted me to buy the first five albums, of which I liked Issues and especially the debut the most. I don't listen to Korn as much as I did back in high school, but that debut was one of the most musically forward-thinking albums of that era. Even in the very excellent music year of 1994, which brought us terrific albums from bands like Nine Inch Nails, Green Day, and Stone Temple Pilots, Korn stood alone.
@Jeff S. King I first heard Korn with Blind on the end credits of Street Fighter The Animated movie. A year later I heard Good God on a Kerrang compilation tape. I went to my local store to buy the album, found out there were two, and brought both. I've been hooked since.
It's my all time favorite album
I love their first five albums! After that, not a big fan but life goes on.
The cover and back cover photos are brilliant. They tell a very dark story that we're still talking about to this day. That's art!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
“Why not put a picture of anything?”
Pretty sure that’s exactly what they did, lady.
That album will always remind me of being in the Marines and stationed in SoCal. I'll never forget the first time hearing that ARE YOU REAAADDYYY!!
Me too motherfucker
thank you for your sacrifices and keeping this country safe!!!
Still one of my favorite albums of all time. Blind will always be my favorite metal song.
It's not metal
@@matthewblackwood4704 Oh look it's another purist.
Best intro!
@@torm0 I ignore music snobs. There are all types of metal, and KoRn is in one of them.
Hate me Clown
Korn's first three albums are top notch.
4*
@@jackm4536 I have Korn's first four albums, and Issues is one I haven't heard in two decades. I still give the first three albums a listen to this day.
I would include Issues as that one is underrated
@@DerkuiDerkui I have Korn's first four albums, and Issues is one I haven't heard in two decades. I still give the first three albums a listen to this day.
I agree 100 percent the first 3 are dope
Seen Korn in 96 at the Rave because some girl wanted me to go free of charge.
I got mad respect for Korn ever since.
that makes no sense bro
@@SNNetwork
Why not? I understood it.
Well i dont understand it either
People tend to hate on Korn, but they still put out new albums an sell out shows year after year. Their only competition is themselves and their legacy. 🤟
Honestly, there aren't too many other American metal bands that have had the longevity and influence they have.
@@sstaners1234 I like Helmet, but when one thinks of an iconic American band, that regularly puts out material, I don't really think of them. That being said, now I need to relisten to some of their earlier stuff.
Exactly!
It's an acquired taste, people hate on Bob Dylan but He is the most important songwriter ever
Korn, the Rolling Stones of the 20s!
People in the comments saying people hate on Korn? Say they like a song or two but not a fan?😳 Say what? Last I checked Korn was one of the biggest and most badass bands on the planet. You people lost me, Korn are absolute legends💯🤘🤘
A lot of people hate on the genre they are associated with but I don’t hear a lot of hate for Korn. Maybe people make some fun but they are respected.
Awesome Fucken band they helped me a lot in so many ways
The album spoke of my childhood, it was fucked up being a child going through Hella abuse while crying to korn songs about the same thing.... not a Korn fan but their debut album means a lot to me.
2 red flags about you. 1 you say "hella" 2 you aren't a korn fan
@@DaBoomerYe learn to read...
A lot of us who grew up with Korn are in our 40s now! Unbelievable! An amazing band. Wish David would come back though.
I grew up with Korn Slipknot Pantera Cannibal Corpse and Slayer to name a few as a teenager, even though they’re all older than me (I’m 26) haha. we all did here in the south (Alabama and Georgia)
@@ESPLTD322 got 20 years on ya dude. U have good taste in music.
So figuratively speaking, these dudes r gpas to our babies :/. My kid will be digging up old ish and it's like oh lawd. She's got me on some "when I was ur age" stuff... its like here we go again. I think she keeps up w/ them more than me tho. Their newer stuff too. I catch her listening to old stuff and I'm like wow, that's a throw back.
Or even their 50's...
And...50's.
This cover could mean so many different things based on the viewer. For me it could mean that adults are darker than kids because of lifes exposure to darker experiences it is the reason why adults casts longer shadows.
I remember seeing Korn when I was 17, it was one of the best concerts I ever went to 🤘🏻😝
I was supposed to see them in 97 but monkey got meningitis. Fast forward 26 years later and I finally got to see them last year in September! It was hella awesome
I've been a fan of KoRn for like ever. Not so much after they started doing more synthy stuff..
But from my understanding their songs told stories of tragedy because that's what we were all facing. And it was a fearless time without cancel culture, so they didn't care wtf people thought.
She got $300 and an awesome story!
Naked nirvana baby got paid less lol
@@NineteenEighty8 he's made millions moaning about it though.

RIP Stephen Stickler, you were an amazing photographer.
I love the self title represents being innocent without knowing anything that is bad called darkness . It’s a very powerful cover means so many things. The way us can interpret it
Aside from Nirvana IMO Korn is the most influential band of the 90s.
Unlike nirvana KoRn is still alive. And the “grunge” scene was a good 4 years. The Nu-metal wave was 1994-2005 at least. So no I’d say one genre was bigger
Thanks for making this I’ve actually wondered about this cover for like 20 years.
Im not a fan of korn but i like these types of videos its interesting to hear about the story of cover arts
You have no music taste then. Bet u like deftones ugh
I love Korn! That dude seeming to only have two fingers adds to the creepiness.
Great video! I always remember that album cover. I had no idea there was such a huge story behind it.
Korn the godfathers of Nu-Metal what a creepy cover with that girl on the cover and that Shadow figure
The little girl's shadow is also hanging off the K
96' Life is Peachy show was one of the best I've seen
One of my favorite album covers and albums of all time! It’s message is clear and disturbing at the same time.
Because the shadow figure has a strange shape for both hands, I never really interpreted it as a human male. I saw it more as the boogie-man. Or the little girl's inner darkness manifesting into reality. Which, for me, related to the lyrics and overall tone of the music.
I always thought that it was a shootout to Freddy Krueger since the dude fingers look longer like when he wears his glove.
I'm still a huge Korn fan till this day!! They were a large part of the soundtrack to my adolescence! So, for me, the songs have a nostalgia value to them. IDC what anyone says about Korn or Nu Metal, I love it, & I will defend it to the day I die!! Will all the bullshit music we have out nowadays, I just don't understand why so many still hate Nu-Metal, when it hasn't been relevant since the early 2000s.
Same
Life is peachy cover has a similar Vibe.
Yep, both are equally creepy.
That was super interesting. Thanks. Well done/produced.
Thanks
Best Korn album. I bought it when it came out.
The cover art gave me a Freddy Kruger vibe, so it never really bothered me, although I remember some controversy at the time.
That album and Life is Peachy are still bangers.
Best Korn album. Really hits hard on the feels too.
I fucking love this album!
Korn kicks ass!!
You could tell the interviewer wasn’t much of a fan of them,it shows
They can do whatever they want as long as they have consent as far as the album cover and music goes
Back then whatever was different it was heavily judged
It would have been cool 😎 if Korn put a backstory within the liner notes of the CD's tri-fold lyric booklet. "Clown" is definitely my ALL-TIME favorite song from this release, although I was a 5 year old! Awesome upload.👍🏾💯😎🔥😱
That first woman talking about the album cover does not understand art.
It’s probably my favorite album honestly definitely imo it shows what taking the good with the bad really means
Great video.
"Art is supposed to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable"
I love Korn! ❤️
Could you maybe do what happened to the girl in Portishead's "All Mine" video?
Korn is one of my fav bands
Korn is most definitely the high point of the whole nu-metal scene.
Oh, without a doubt…especially in hindsight.
That's not saying much.
@@WinterInTheForest one of the most influential metal bands of the 90s.
@@jackm4536 Late 90s and a horrible time for metal
@@WinterInTheForest To you.
Self titled, but here's a question, and not sure if it happened yet, but, whatever happened to the twins off of Siamese Dream, have you made that a video yet or have I missed it?
Don't believe he has, but that'd be a GREAT idea for a future one!
I love the cover, was listening to Korn 1994 the other day and wondering who the girl on the cover is anyway... Personally love the first 3 albums a lot.
This is one of my favorites if the debut album is good then every song on there Is good
Had a Freddy Kruger vibe to it! Classic
Great album and very sickening yet darkly bold album cover that was very apt for the album's lyrics about innocence lost. Conciousness is truth and Truth is Consciousness and once we become aware of conciousness "truth" we can never become unconscious to the TRUTH so our ignorance "innocence" is lost......Adam and Eve eating the fruit from the tree of Know'ledge story. When you become aware of true "TRUTH" you Know it as truth is that what it is,what it always has been and always will be.
neat! was she also the inspiration 4 that magnum opus "ONE, TWO, BUCKLE MY SHOE!!!..." 🤘😅
One of the greatest albums ever made
"We like horse shoes"
Haha
"I just thought it looked cool"
Audience: That's deep
Iv wondered about the girl that's on the album cover with the song oildale.
One users of this account always believed that it was supposed to reflect the horrific trauma Jonathan Davis suffered from.
Hopefully no lawsuit like Nevermind baby.
Jonathan Davis has some of the best vocals in music imo
I have to admit Korn is an AWESOME live band. I don’t particularly enjoy their music, there’s a few songs I like but I certainly wouldn’t consider myself a fan. That being said, I saw them with Alice In Chains in 2019 and they rocked the house, I was surprised how good they were live and how energetic they played live, I never heard of them being one of the best live bands ever but they’re up there for me. I may not consider myself a fan of theirs, but I certainly respect them.
You should do a video on dead kennedys
I always thought the cover represents the song Daddy.
I've always wondered about that cover. I always found it disturbing. But that was the point. Crazy how the Nirvana baby asked for money and sued the band.
As a parent I would be upset as well and I would be asking for more than $300.
It took too long for me to notice the shadow of the girl and the K resembles her hanging.
All these years, never noticed that.
The best album of all time
Yeah the older I get, I can def agree it's up there. You can't touch the energy
The shadows make the whole thing creepy with the little girls shadow looking like she's hanginng
I never put two and two together when turning over to the back of the CD cover but now that you mention it, it is pretty disturbing. Not that the front cover art isn't.
so basically korn's intentions was to basically kidnap your innocence.
a gay blind clown with a ball gag playing shoots and ladders with her in angel wings would have made more sense tho
It's quite clear it's meant to evoke ominous feelings, and it does it very effectively. Korn joking about it doesn't help though.
Korn is local for me, I grew up in kern county.
Jesus they look so young in the interview
All this time I thought the creepy figure was superimposed on that cover (so as not to scare the girl). Shows what I know!
The controversy is thst she is missing from the back? I thought it was that the shadow looked like she was hanging.....
Cuz we like that picture
Busted
That was not Munky explaining the album. It was a bag of weed disguised as Munky
I don't like Korn at all, but this album cover always felt really eerie to me, I really like the album cover for their debut.
Your opinion
I’m legitimately curious how anyone would be able to recognize her in her later years. Like who the fuck is creeping on her in that picture enough to be able to
No link for the glasses? He mumbles it out so fast I have no idea what brand they are.
I love horseshoes so i died laughing when he said that....holy shit that was funny to me.
My God. Did that interviewer even listen to the album?
That album cover is nightmare fuel
Reporter: "you can understand how some people could get upset over this"
Fast forward to 2020s... people get offended by cow farts and flags and everything else.
That first Korn album is obviously a nu-metal classic and started the genre. I was into this goth chick in high school who would constantly listen to this album every chance she got. Unfortunately, I never got into her pants 🤷♂️
Never found the album cover to be disturbing, not that the idea behind it isn't.
Remember when people made it a personality to not like clowns?
Imagine being in an album cover and being paid 300$ and having the best and scariest album cover out of all of them and not liking the band
You forgot to mention the girl hanging from a Cross
What?
@@Djkhrdfbviuhdffbvuihrbf look at the girls shadow and the K it’s creating a cross and she’s hanging by her neck as if she’s dead and the guy is staring at his victim
@@Campfacer no it’s not it’s just a guy that kidnapps people and she’s like who’s that and if you look in the back of the album you can see she’s not there but no no one thinks she hanging
Self titled, life is peachie, freak on a leash, and issues were all amazing albums by korn. Take a look in the mirror had some good songs sane with untouchables but that's when I stopped listening to them although the songs I've heard from the latest album are pretty good..
Ask TheBand That Same Question Today...
I always thought that the shadow of the man was slender man ? Boy was I way off.
And on the other side the girl has been taken
How long before she sues the band for putting her on the cover?
30th year anniversary
Lol
SHHHHHH...........................don't give her any ideas!
isn’t her shadow basically hanging herself on the K?
Who thinks that no one in the world thinks that Hanging her self on the k really no one in the entire world thinks that
@@Djkhrdfbviuhdffbvuihrbf it looks like it
No it doesn’t also it’s the guy standing in front of her that’s the creepy part
@@Djkhrdfbviuhdffbvuihrbf i see
Meth is a hell of a drug.....they explained the cover in tweaked out jumble.
She went on to sue the band, claiming they had exploited her and took the pictures without her, or her parents knowledge.
This was after years of capitalising off the cover, and only bringing this up when they fell out of the public eye.
