Yay! New subbie here :-). So glad to see this! I grow my own vegetables and this year I am growing kohlrabi for the first time so am excited to see what I can do with it. Thanks for sharing!
Hello! I'm so glad you liked it! My gardener friends say that it's very easy to grow, at least where we are on the West coast of Canada. Where are you located?
You can also eat kohlrabi leaves. My first intro to kohlrabi was with a haddock and brown butter sauce. The kohlrabi was in a green apple salad. It added the most delicious refreshing touch to the rich brown butter sauce. I think it is a hidden gem vegetable.
Yes, a new kohlrabi recipe! We are on the hunt for new kohlrabi recipes. We are growing it for the first time in our urban backyard garden. So far, we have used in our morning green smoothie and even kohlrabi ice cream. So yummy! Thanks for sharing.
This is a great video! We just planted Kohlrabi at the request of one of our friends. I had never heard of it, so I thought I'd surf UA-cam. I'm so glad I found your channel. Keep up the great work! I have subscribed
Be happy for that because kohlrabi leaves are tasteful you can eat them too just like spinach many don't know it just like by carrot greens hum very lecker 😋
We had to eat Kohlrabi sliced as kids in our lunch and I’m pretty sure I threw it out or traded it daily, but now I like it 🤣 This looks super yummy 😋 I still need to get that cuisinart food processor
WHOA Jess you just brought back a distinct memory. I remember you having slices of Lo Bok (which is Daikon I believe) in your lunch, and I thought it was so cool that I made my mom buy it for me!
I guess in our region (Asia) we call this knol khol. Usually we make this as a curry. But this was a vegetable I never loved to have with my meals. In this video I heard a word "earthy" and to know what this earthy flavour I divided to make this as you mentioned. It was so delicious. I think this is the perfect way to have this. Adding Apple and yoghurt make this so delicious. Actually I didn't have any leaves with me. Anyway it was great! Thanks for this nice upload...
I am crunching down on raw kohlrabi while watching your video. Used it many ways but this one is new, Will be using this recipe for the rest of this very large kohlrabi, YES 5 years later people are still enjoying this recipe!!
New to kohlrabi-never tried it. I’m going to buy a plant start and grow some (I grow all year around). I look forward to making this salad. Perfect recipe! Thanks. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼💙💛
Just made (sort of ) this. I only had mayo and dried dill. Still really good, but I'm sure it's missing the "zip" of fresh dill. I also used lemon, pepper, salt and pepitas. (no garlic) Yum!
I'm growing Kohlrabi in the garden this year. Never had it before but I can't wait to try it... Got lots of dill too! Thanks for the idea, I'll be trying it out. (my mom had the same food processer lol)
@@HowToMakeDinner I live in zone 3a and people tell me I can get two harvests per season from these plants. Right now the leaves are massive and the bulbs just starting to form. I'm betting you have time, stick 'em in the ground and give it a try ;)
I make a cucumber relish with kholrabi (which I grow both of these) and bottle/can it, it's refreshing and we add it to a crispy lettuce dish. Thanks for the video
You could check with the manufacturer of the good processer. They may have a replacement container collecting dust in their warehouse. They will be impressed to hear the 3 generations of use and the motor still running and the blade still sharp and machine still running strong.
What a refreshing breakfast! The more I eat kohlrabi the more I love it! And yeah, I probably have a bit of a dill obsession... its just something I have to live with :) Thanks for visiting!
I have that food processor! I’m a grandma so maybe it is kinda old. I also have the juicer - from the dollar store. I made this but I think it would benefit with something sweet in it, maybe raisins. Apples weren’t sweet enough.
@@shaunspellman2856 have you seen my 1-minute mayo video? So many people I’ve talked to say they never buy store bought anymore 😀 Alternatively… hmm… you could just go with olive oil & lemon!
WOW! If you let it sit in refrigerator and eat it the next day, it is even more flavorful...this tastes FABULOUS!!! I'm surprised how differently it tastes right after making vs refrigerating overnight, good both ways, but the next day has WOW factor :) First time I have ever grown and eaten Kohlrabi, made your recipe and another, your recipe will be a regular from now on :) I used vegan Kite Hill plain yogurt, did not like that brand's yogurt flavor at first, but the next day it was not detectable, only all of the other flavors were present. The next time I might try it with a different brand, or maybe even try Violife Sour Cream. Either way, it's a keeper :)
How To Make Dinner I like Kohlrabi but actually didn’t know you could eat it raw! Also a big fan of fresh dill so am going to give this one a go. Thanks 🙏

I've only ever had it raw. I slice it thinly and eat like chips, despite being raw, with, what's it called, humus... yes. stick slice of kohlrabi into humus, and eat while watching a movie or something. it feels like you're eating crap, but you're not, it may even be healthy. Also, am I weird for liking granny smith, like, for eating? I've noticed that it's recommended for cooking, so I'm confused, maybe it's regarded as horrible eating apple, but I prefer it to sweet and dry apples, I don't know. It's my fav. granny smith, and viljamovka pear (serbian variety used for alcoholic beverages and also the only edible pear in my experience, just the right amount of soft, sweet, doesn't go from rock solid to mush in matter of seconds) - sorry adhdigression, I actually wanted to say something else.. I don't know, I forgot, but I'll try this and if I don't forget, I'll be back with comments - do you just eat it as salad, or with something?
I think you’re right, citrus juicer is a perfectly good name. I sure do hope the bartender’s term for it doesn’t have any racist connotation, as it is widely used. It might be one of those old terms that just needs to go. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I will be more thoughtful with my choice of words. 💜

That sounds lovely! I’ll look for leafy ones at the market next time. Thanks for the dinner idea! 🙂
I started growing kohlrabi a couple years ago and this (or some variation) has become my go-to favorite way to eat my humble kohlrabi harvest.
Cant wait to make it. I just bought a kohlrabi yesterday. Will get the dill and apples tomorrow and bingo!!!!
Lovely!!

A Kohlrabi came in my vegetable box, so I found your video on idea how to prepare.
Thanks.
Awesome!!
Love this stuff...Used to grow it. Kohlrabi takes up lots of room in the Garden. The leaves spread out 2ft or more sometimes.
Hah! True that. I really wanted to grow some this year but I'm quite limited with garden space! I love the stuff though!

Harvesting my kohlrabi today, and glad I found this recipe-thanks!

I have never known about kokrabi. I’m going to try this. Thank you.

I just stared my first seeds of kohlrabi and I'm so excited to see how it goes, this will be perfect.
I've never had kohlrabi, but, I do have a Cuisinart. You made making the salad look very easy. I think the best part is the fresh dill. Love it!
I think many of us forget to put those Cuisinart blades to good use. It's like an instant salad maker!

I got a new blender out of my call about my dead blender motor and my love of their products, which is true.
ahh yes! I should definitely give them a shout. It's such a gem! Thank you.
Wow, this looks so good!
This salad would also be good with some Persian cucumbers yum! 🙂
I made something like this for breakfast today--minus the dill. I made an omelette with the kohlrabi plus spinach and onions.

YUM! This looks delicious! Can't wait to try this one out. What would you recommend to make the dressing vegan? Would a non-dairy yoghurt work?
It absolutely would. Or you could do a version of my tahini lemon dressing! (in the tahini dips episode) Let me know how it goes! - Paula
