  • Winter Solo Camping and is it safe
In this video I travel overland driving the "Old 96'er" a 1996 Ford F250 Diesel 4x4 and sleep in the camper canopy conversion in the Oregon high desert. I set up camp at the edge of a patch of ponderosa trees, then build a campfire have dinner and talk about solo camping safety. I rise early to cook breakfast and head for My home base. Camp looks out over the winter landscape that is the Central Oregon High Desert this time of the year, Beautiful in a rugged sort of way.
Come with me on a wintery adventure in the Backcountry.
Here's a big thank you to everyone who watches My videos I appreciate your support!

I like your mention of solo camping. I have solo backpacked in the mountains of Idaho, Arizona and New Mexico in most seasons. The most peaceful is winter, the silence is deafening and it truly gives a person time to reflect.

Jurgen is good friend whom we met on UA-cam. We really appreciate his shout-out. Thank you for joining us and inviting us to your channel. Awesome video you produced here. We were fortunate enough to have visited Oregon this summer. It sure didn't look like that, lol. 6 below, as a low, and hovering at 38, brrr. Oh, yummy to the beef stew! A bear visiting your camp must have been very interesting. Morning coffee at camp in the snow, how nice! Thank you for sharing this video. This looks like a great channel to follow. Safe travels and happy adventures.

Oregon is a beautiful state with a diverse climate and topography, and many very cool places to explore. I will look forward to your next live UA-cam production. Thank you for your comments here, and always keep the tires on the road. Rob

Enjoyed the video! We're all going to the mountains on Saturday to get trees if the snow isn't too deep, and the babies all behave. (this is Linda, Rick's better half)

It can be cold but I enjoy the challenges that come with this type of camping. Now that said a good fire and a hot cup of coffee are nice to have on those cold nights and mornings. 🤠 Thank you for your comment and hope to hear from you again.

RVingwithG, The stove can be cold blooded using the butane but with propane not so. We us the stove with propane in sub freezing temperatures and its fine. Thank you for taking the time to leave your comment. Have a great day
