    In this video I show you how I installed a diesel heater in my converted cargo trailer camper. This may give you some ideas on what you can do with your diesel heater install.
    As with all how-to projects make sure you read all the owner's manual.
    This video is for entertainment purposes only and is how I chose to mount my Chinese Diesel Heater in my trailer. You will need to decide what is right and safe for your application.

    Love the build, nicely done. My Son did something very similar to serve him as a traveling Lab Scientist, which is a thing! Your CDH installation is perfect. He opted for the 4port heat vent and used silicone heat duct to move the heat to 4zone vents inside the trailer. He also has an awning room that he can use if he boon docks the trailer in between jobs. A great way to see the Country. He routed one vent so he can have heat in the tent/room. He says it takes the edge off, but added a stand alone additional heater if he boondocks in snow weather. I told him he should make a video similar to yours on his own trailer build. Stay safe and warm!

      Hi @straightarrow5518, thank you for your great comment, its always interesting to hear what others have done with their builds. I have seen the add on canvas tent rooms, that's a good way to add space when you need it. This 5kw heater is all we need in the 6'x12' cargo conversion camper. We have had the trailer out in cold down to 11 degrees Fahrenheit and were comfortable, the floor did get cold however.

    I like how you put the diesel tank in the tongue box. Where to mount a tank was the hold up for me so we went with an all-in-one unit instead.

    Hello Sir. You did a very nice and clean install. Give your muffler a little turn so that the pin hole in the middle of the seam faces downward. That's the condensation weep for the wet exhaust so that will want to drip occasionally. I've seen several people wrap the fuel pump with rubber pipe insulation and a few pipe clamps and I guess that really takes the ticking noise out of it. Best of luck. Take care!

    • @explorer867
      @explorer867  Рік тому +1

      Hi jasonphaneuf788, Thank you for your comments. I really appreciate your input. With regards to your comment on the diesel heater pump, I will give the pipe wrap a try. Having the pump outside the trailer in the box really helps but the tick, tick, tick still radiates through the aluminum trailer. The exhaust muffler I have turned sideways to keep it from hanging down where it would get caught on brush when we pull the cargo trailer camper into some remote boondocking spots. If it rusts out, I will replace it. Thank you for pointing this out, you are 100% correct. Others reading this will see your tip and install it as the directions call for.

    If space allows, move the cold air return away from the warm air out put, to get more circulation. Also, consider wrapping the exhaust pipe with "header tape" sold at auto supply stores, until the very hot pipe clears the area where the plastic/rubber fuel supply line is. In other words heat insulate the exhaust pipe for the first 6 inches where it exits the heater unit.

    You might help the pump noise by bolting a soft pine board to the side of the toolbox then mounting the pump to the board.

    Nice install and great video. Clear, concise, good video quality and editing. Was going to mention the muffler orientation but I saw your previous response and I think I may have to do the same with mine-have been worrying it would be hanging too low. Like the aluminum shroud around the air intake, too. Question: why don’t you feel comfortable sleeping with it running? You’ve sealed the exhaust well and you’ve got the CO monitor. Thanks!

    • @explorer867
      @explorer867  Рік тому

      Hi s2pointoh, thank you for watching and leaving your comment. The air intake for the heater needs protection, so I made the shroud to cover it. If it gets damaged I will make another 🤠. When traveling down the two track roads the brush that's growing in the center tends to like to grab whatever it can under the trailer and the shroud mitigates this. S2pointoh, on my first reply I didn't respond to your question as to why we don't sleep with the diesel heater on. I haven't ever had any problems with these heaters but I'm just over cautious. I will turn it on in the middle of the night as needed but try not to sleep with it on, that's just me🤠 I have one of these mounted in our Old 96er camper canopy, "video in play list below this video" and have used it for three years now with no problems. Thanks for asking.👍

      Here's a list of parts from Amazon:
      Vevor diesel heater 5kw
      Color tree 1" stainless steel exhaust pipe. This is the extra pipe needed to run out the side of trailer.
      Amerimax MW/NE/SE 2X3 Galvanized Drop Outlet (for gutters) This is what I used for heat baffle.
      Better Built 67011386 ATV Tool Box.

    Thanks for the video!!! Like the way that you are meticulous in your work! I am purchasing a diesel heater and was thinking of routing it opposite, meaning, heater outside to inside. I am installing two tongue boxes to which I want to install the heater, fuel tank, fuel filter, fuel pump and battery into the boxes then running the heater hose to the trailer. After working with these heaters what is your take, think this method would be feasible, any draw backs you can see? Thanks again!!!

      Hi Darren, It sounds like you have a fun and rewarding project ahead. I like your diesel heater install concept and think it should work out well for you.
      I live a cold part of the country and run power service in my fuel summer and winter. The power service picks up the cetane in the diesel and winter version has anti jell in it.

      Diesel heat is dry heat. Now that said with two of us in the trailer overnight in freezing weather we will get some condensation on metal trailer components. The best way to deal with this is to partially open roof vent. Please like, subscribe, and let others know about our channel.🤠
