My brother Jason, and a bunch of our friends used to perform in Escanaba in the amateur Wrestling circuit. I actually reffed a couple. We would drive all the way up from southwest Detroit, sometimes through blizzards, and we did it for peanuts. It was never about the money though, we did it because we loved doing it, and the response from the folks was always so touching. The fans "kids adults seniors alike" appreciated us bringing in a different kind of entertainment, something they didn't have much of up there, so we were like rock stars! Free lodging, food you name it. Sadly my brother passed away suddenly, and it just wasn't fun for me anymore. I was 18 at the time, and I am surprised to say I am 39 now. I wasn't confident I would make it this far, but I am glad I did. Anyway Escanaba hold's fond memories for me, even though I live in NYC now. I'm a Michigander first!🤘❤️
Hi Scott! When I was a commercial real estate broker in Northeast Wisconsin, Escanaba and the U.P. were part of my extended territory. I loved getting up there except during the depth of the winter, when the driving was hellish. And yes, I have eaten at the Swedish Pantry! (Another U.P. restaurant I can recommend is the Brownstone Inn in Au Train, between Marquette and Munising.) I love all these Northern Wisconsin and U.P. towns. My real estate company was located in the Milwaukee area, with satellite offices in Madison and Appleton (mine). Whenever there was a potential listing in an out-of-the-way location, like Eau Claire in the western part of Wisconsin, they called me because they knew I would take it. I put some miles on the car, you can imagine! In Escanaba we collaborated with a local agent, a great guy who taught me everything I know about the U.P., as they say.

You know you should come agian this August and if you stay for a bit during August you’ll see the wonders on Michigans state fair honestly the up of Michigans escanaba is very populated in August because of the state fair and since I have lived in esky for 12 years and still do I love esky so I definitely suggest coming back this August the state fair here is such a wonderful place to be in the vicinity.
Hey! I remember when I was younger, I watched your video of you eating at Johnny T's, and thought it was cool since I knew I lived by there. I'm happy to see your still traveling 7 years later!
Nice job Scott, enjoyed the vlog. I was there in 2020 and you hit all the hot spots. Although we went for pasties, next time will be Swedish food for sure.
@@scottman895 I want to apologize. You at least showed some of the empty and run-down shops along Ludington. We visited based on the Escanaba episode of @mainstreets with @JohnMcGivern who made Escanaba sound like Munising or South Haven which it certainly is not - at least not yet.

The Escanaba Downtown is in serious disrepair. It does a disservice to those who might visit to suggest otherwise.
