Great whimsical and informative video! I grew up in Esky and love seeing how it has evolved. The 60s were great there. My memories of school at St. Pats, walking on Ludington Street and enjoying those pasties -- oh, i miss the pasties!! I live on the remote Washinton Pacific coast now, and want to visit the UP again. Thanks for this inspiring visit online. Once a Yooper, always a Yooper!!

From Escanaba, this was great, except not all of us like Escanaba in the moonlight..

Yoopers live above the bridge, Trolls live under the bridge.

Born and raised in the UP, grew up on 17th street. Live in NC now for school but I always love coming home.

Fast moving program. My great grandfather built his first home in 1887 and the larger one on same lot in 1910. Both houses are still standing. I am the 4th uninterrupted generation on the lot. A lot of history for sure. All of the woodwork in the main house is still largely untouched including the Tiger eye maple floors throughout. I love it here and you will too if you come for a visit. Far more to see and experience than the half hour show can highlight.

I'm looking for places to move to on the Great Lakes. If anybody has any suggestions, I would be grateful. 😊

Ludington street was probably named after Nelson Ludington a lumber baron and landowner who was instrumental in Escanaba's founding, in part he provided the land for Ludington park with the instruction that it be left for the peoples use.

Not surprisingly, back in the 80's Mr. Chown was one of the high school's music teachers.

Actually down state meaning under the bridge where the trolls live. Trolls eat people. The UP should be the fifty first state. Have a nice day 🙂

how is the crime rate in Escanaba? Would you have to worry about your boat at night in a hotel parking lot in night.

Probably would be a bit safer than most areas. Almost all the hotels are used to having anglers as customers so they should have fairly good lighting. Call a few and ask them about it. A few even have fish cleaning stations onsite.
