@@frazieromondi9331 War rarely cares how good a fighter you are. All it took was three arrows for Cole. Quentyn Ball gets done dirty by an archer right before the conclusion of the First Blackfyre Rebellion, too.
Plus, even if dude was the best fighter, he's clearly a bad tactician. Put the Hand (who's just a normal guy) in the middle of the fighting? Sure, I guess. But then he overreaches and gets his forces trapped and annihilated.
Some might also say it's not wise to put the king and then the prince regent in the thick of the fighting either, but they control flying nukes so that risk was maybe worth it (although Aegon II might not think so after Rook's Rest).

The show goes out of its way, a lil too much sometimes, to amplify the flaws of the greens to provide a counterpoint for how the books hide them

Not entirely sure about his fighting prowess but I rather see it as he's good but not that good. Kings guard yes but that's just entitlement at this point in the game of thrones univ ser barriston appear's like sum old codger way past his time but inside dude is a beast of beast apparently that's more a Song of Ice exclusive. All I'm saying is it's easy to overestimate a character but when a man with his back turned still has the upper hand then you've already lost.

the only reason harwin beat him is cause Cole WANTED him to get pissed off at the implication of Jace, Luke and Joff actually being his kids. It’s why he had a shit eating grin after the Kingsguard pulled Harwin off him.
One big changes is missing Prince Daeron on the greens

Nah I think they did a pretty good job displaying Rhaenyra’s recklessness in her affairs as well as Daemon’s Cruelty and Viserys’s carelessness. Keep in mind there weren’t as many shady players on the Blacks team as there were on the Greens. Even Alicent with all of the things that she went through played her part well in manipulating Aegon into usurping his sister

One being Rhaenyra orderaing Vhaemond's death and having him fed to her dragon and the second was her pushing for war immediately and Daemon attempting to talk her out of it and it was done by switching their reactions.

That's according to one version of the story. The other version says that he clapped her cheeks and got mad when she got bored of him. In reality, we'll never know for sure, but seems like GRRM is leaning towards the show being the "official" version of the story.

GRRM's statement about HotD's legitimacy went like "The events in House of the Dragon are just as true as the accounts in Fire&Blood." Therefore HotD is essentially another more unreliable (although *slightly* more objective) narrator.
Every account (from Mushroom to Septon Eustace to Maesters Mellos, Gerardys, Orwyle and Munkun to now HotD) will every now and then tell the truth but overall they serve as the framework for the true history which lies in between the mixed accounts.
HotD is only truly canon to GoT which is also not a total faithful adaptation

That’s my main quarrel as well. It’s supposed to be nuanced and controversial, invoking thought and understanding. Instead it’s, a Rhaenyra cheerleading show with no redeemable personalities on the Greens side.

The naked ambitions of Daemon and Corlys alone are enough to make the blacks look questionable, and Rhaenyra is not a saint just because she's a victim of misogynistic attitudes. Even Rhaenyra, who they completely changed from her implied power hunger in the books to a level-headed paragon of virtue, kills a bunch of innocent civilians for being in the way. The Velaryon kids are the only ones portrayed as innocent, which is the only biased portrayal in my opinion.
Let's not get started on what's gonna happen with blood & cheese and the dragonseeds. I guarantee they're gonna flip the script next season starting from the 1st child murder, and show Aegon being competent and thoughtful to swing the moral balance back

Not only erases the fact that Aegon took the throne to protect his family but also makes Alicent unbelievably stupid. In the books she crowns Aegon because she believes in the legitimacy of a trueborn son over bastards, is a strict set of VALUES. In the show she simply does it because she thinks is what the King wanted, not only putting her children in danger for the wishes of a man who abused her. I understand might have been a hope that her trauma would worth something, but the fact that it could cause her children to die should've been enough to make her reconsider.
Also HOW she expects to convince everyone of that if Viserys told everyone the opposite his whole life and she was the only witness to his last wish? Nonsense, anyone else in this situation would simply pretend they didn't hear anything
I think youre misinterpreting show allicent. Yes she misinterpreted viserys, but part of that is because her beliefs about what he said is what she wanted him to say
Otto's machinations are WHY this is even happening in the first place. Even with the whole Aegon thing it most likely would have happened anyways.
Otto immediately went into Scheme mode to try and crown Aegon as fast as possible. With the only problem being that his daughter got to him first and talked with him about what he should or shouldnt do.

Aegon's fate isn't any better either. He's wounded gravely during the dance(to his credit, he was willing to throw down with his enemies, rather than being Joffrey and being as far from the battle as possible) and he will spend rest of his life in unbearable agony, wishing he had died.

Cole is a primary cause for the Dance in the books and a spiteful prick in the show. The Riverlands, seemingly as always due to its central location, suffers greatly during the Dance. Honor be damned - Cole gets to die with all the ceremony of a wet fart.

Besides that It’s based off of medieval times not actually set in our world and even then people moved around long before mass colonization happened. Considering Asia and Europe are on the same land mass and things like the Silk Road were real. It’s really not that crazy that the possibility of Asian people exist in medieval fantasy
Also there are other lands besides Westeros in this story that have other races of people. Dorne is literally in Westeros and they are closer to middle eastern and North African than European and are a major house.

Then he kills her husband’s boyfriend in the show and book, calls Rhaenyra names that would get this comment banned, and actually contemplates taking out a five year old’s eye.
