Considering the title, I expected more about Aerys's reign and less about the rebellion. It would have been nice if you covered Aerys as a prince first, with the birth of Rhaegar and the tragedy at Summerhall.
There was not even any mention that he basically forced his sister to marry him. And yes the events leading to Summerhall would have made for good story.
Correction: Tywin did not ask for cersei to marry viserys. He asked for cersei to marry Rhaegar Rhaegar was the first child of Aerys and his sister-wife. Viserys was his second surviving son (he had 3 more and a daughter who died prematurely)
You forgot to add that the execution of Lady Darklyn is what inspired Aerys to be committed to using wildfire. She was his first victim, as he ordered her to burn at the stake on suspicion of being a witch who had influenced Lord Darklyn into rebellion. Aerys had the makings of a great king, but the Darklyn Rebellion turned that sour. In addition, Tywin wasn't exactly in a rush to save his king. While citing that if he attacked, Lord Darklyn would kill Aerys, but everyone knew of the tension between the two men, so there were suspicions that Tywin was hoping that Rhaegar would be king sooner than later. They didn't care what his reputation was, they just loved to have royal sponsorship after that debacle when Aerys' grandfather's brother, Aerion Targaryen, believing he would become a dragon from drinking a glass of wildfire, didn't survive the ordeal. And they had no idea why he wanted their jars of wildfire placed in strategic locations throughout the city of King's Landing...
I'm convinced that Aerys thought the only way to save everybody from becoming an ice zombie was to burn then before they coukd turn & that's why he went nuts.
Nice video. One thing - Aerys did bemoan/joke about not being able to claim the lord's right to the first night from Joanna but it wasn't abolished during Tywin or Aerys' time, it was abolished long before by Good Queen Alysanne.
Hey guys...I think a little moderation and community response is needed, this is the first video I've seen that had this much corrections under its comments and not discussion of the events in the video.
I enjoyed this episode very much. eagerly waiting for the next installment. Please do episodes on: Song of Ice and Fire series - THE DANCE OF THE DRAGONS, the Andal invasion, king maegor's battle against the faith militants, king daeron's conquest of Dorne, the Blackfyre Rebellions, war of the ninepenny kings, the greyjoy uprising, and the long night. Wheel of Time - The war of the shadow, the breaking of the world, the trolloc wars, the Aiel War, the Seanchan Invasion, and the Battle of Dumai's well. Foundation Series - The Robot wars, Mule's Conquest of the galaxy. Dune Series - The Butlerian Jihad, Paul's conquest of the imperium, Honored Matres' Wars.
I am absolutely loving this channel. Please I beg of you do some Wheel of Time episodes. The fall of Manetheren, the battle of the Two Rives, Dumai's Wells, and of course The Last Battle itself. Please I want to see The Last Battle like this
Yes Wheel of Time has the best large-scale fantasy battles. Some other good ones are The Second Battle of Cairhein, Battle of Maradon, Battle of Malden, and the siege and assault on Tar valon.
I already loved kings and generals but this channel is on new level it basically everything I love in one channel fantasy and sci fi worlds combined with epic battles and cool backstorys
I think you guys forgot about the Battle of the Bells where Robert was hiding from Jon Connington, and Jon looked in all houses but the people helped Robert hide until the morning when Robert and his men ambushed Connington's forces when the town's bells started ringing. That defeat caused Aerys to exile Connington. And its also the inspiration for the scene in GoT where Dany destroys Kingslanding when the bells were rung to signal their surrender. In books Connington was laminating bout how he did what Tywin would've done at the town but someone told him that Tywin would have burned the town instead
He likely had ptsd from both tbh. Summerhall made him paranoid and depressed, the early death of his father made his stressed and over protective of his family and himself, and the defiance of duskendale reinforced his mad beliefs until he went into a spiral
Great video as always!! LOVE the ASOIAF series and all the lore surrounding It. If I may just nitpick at something, I'd say the 3D style depicted kind of shocked me. I really LOVE the classic drawings of your channnels. Anyways, GREAT STUFF here. Cannot wait to ser the rest of the Rebellion.
Another great vid. I'd REEEAAAALLLLY LOVE to see you take on the Battle of Dumai's Wells from Wheel of Time. IMO the most epic battle of modern fantasy.
I am so happy yall have created this channel!! I have been binge watching Kings and Generals and you have now combined my love of historical detail and annulus with my love of fantasy and sci-fi. Thank you thank you thank you so much.
It's a long shot, but I hope your team would consider two possible universes: 1. Glen Cook's Black Company 2. Steven Erikson & Ian Esslemont's Malazan series
The Black Company is a fantastic storyline. Getting ready to read them all again for probably the 10th time. They would be an outstanding series much like Game of Thrones became. Many dynamic characters, places, & action. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Game of Thrones is an amazing show! I recommend watching the first five seasons to be inmersed with the lore and the rest of the seasons are optional fanfiction.
Aerys was also driven crazy by Blood Raven trying to contact him in his dreams. That’s why he continually says burn them all. That’s Blood Raven trying to tell him that the Others need to be burned.
The problem with this theory is that Aerys wasn't constantly saying "burn them all" in the books. That was a show only invention. Aerys ordered Jaime to bring him Tywin's head to prove he was no traitor, and asked Jaime who's blood was on his sword when Jaime came to kill him after killing his pyromancer.
Looking at how Paddy Considine fleshed King Viserys I, I hope that one day a great actor would be able to do the same with the tragic fate of Aerys II the Mad King.
gotta be honest here boys, 1) 2 sponsorship messages might be a bit much (except if you're paid double) 2) not convinced concerning the new 3D modeling. It's new i get it but it lacks a lot of finesse. You got us used to better Part from that, great work, keep it up !
There was one survivor of Brandon's retinue, Ethan Glover who somehow managed to not only survive the executions but was able to live to join Eddard in his rescue of Lyanna.
As always great video in general. Although I must say this 3D artstyle looks really bad. Many of these characters look so much different in their book descriptions and when you use 3D, it is not very simple to implement those changes. My recommendation is if you can ditch this artstyle and replace it with a decent 2D one, this would be a perfect video. Additionally if you can change the iron throne to its book version as well, that would be a great addition.
There I was thinking that I am the only one with the same impression. It looks like a failed porn video game really… The previous 2d illustrations about got in the kings and generals channel were more vibrant and stylish.
I was meaning to ask you guys, since you already did several videos on GoT battles on your "Kings and Generals" channel, shouldent you include them over here or are you simply including battles/histories that transpired in ASOFAI books (not the show).Anyways nice.
You have mixed up Viserys for Rhaegar.Tywin Lannister proposed the marriage of his daughter Cersei to Rhaegar not Viserys. P.S I truly enjoy watching your videos,so keep up with the good work👍😊
Love it, Kings and Generals made several videos based on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones so naturally the fantasy world of George RR Martin would be covered by Wizards and Warriors. Looks like the same CGI is used to portray characters from the Sigmar episode is used here, I like it and that the characters look a bit different from the Game of Thrones show. Aerys became a monster, but not without reason. No-one tried to douse the fire of his madness until it grew too large for them to smother.
HERE WE GOOOOO!
Hey guys...I think a little moderation and community response is needed, this is the first video I've seen that had this much corrections under its comments and not discussion of the events in the video.
I enjoyed this episode very much. eagerly waiting for the next installment.
Please do episodes on:
Song of Ice and Fire series - THE DANCE OF THE DRAGONS, the Andal invasion, king maegor's battle against the faith militants, king daeron's conquest of Dorne, the Blackfyre Rebellions, war of the ninepenny kings, the greyjoy uprising, and the long night.
We need a prequel showing the entire era and rise and fall of the max king and roberts rebellion
Elbert was Jon Arryn's nephew, not son ;)
Also; can't wait for THE KING IN THE NORTH!
I mean the Targs have more incest than an off brand anime. Makes sense they’d have lost all their marbles by the end of their line.
Ahh at long last... a GOT episode!
Finally Asoiaf.. I waited so long.
Aery’s ego and pressure to get an heir/be the best king ever got to him and turned him insane. I think a grain of humility would have helped him.
That's going to be in the next video probably, in this Aerys just named Connington his Hand
i think Aerys II had PTSD from the defiance. either that or from the tragedy of summerhall.
He likely had ptsd from both tbh. Summerhall made him paranoid and depressed, the early death of his father made his stressed and over protective of his family and himself, and the defiance of duskendale reinforced his mad beliefs until he went into a spiral
@@chandlerdoeswhatifs9399 agreed
I swear i will follow any channel with this narrator
This is the normal sounding fantasy battle ive ever heard of
I think the Darklyn kidnapping was planned by Tywin to get rid or Arys but Selmy ruined it.
Ps I would love to see some dragonlance or other DnD lore explored if the needed information exisits.
It's a long shot, but I hope your team would consider two possible universes:
1. Glen Cook's Black Company
2. Steven Erikson & Ian Esslemont's Malazan series
The Black Company is a fantastic storyline. Getting ready to read them all again for probably the 10th time. They would be an outstanding series much like Game of Thrones became. Many dynamic characters, places, & action. 🇺🇸🇺🇸
Waiting for the dance of the dragons civil war
Great video! Really well made! One correction it was Rhaegar that Tywin wanted to marry Cersei to not Viserys.
I was looking for this profile and I don’t know why it never came up, and now it randomly pops up in my feed. Finally 😅
Game of Thrones is an amazing show! I recommend watching the first five seasons to be inmersed with the lore and the rest of the seasons are optional fanfiction.
note for the art: Dragon skulls were black due to high iron content per the book tyrion reads from the Winterfell library in a Game of Thrones
I'm stillborn sure I am anxious to watch a series based on Robert's Rebellion.
Need to find out about sir Dunc and Egg. Last I heard, Egg was offering up his ring to some sketchy characters.
Now this is the kind of content that I go on UA-cam for 😍
Aerys was also driven crazy by Blood Raven trying to contact him in his dreams.
My missus is a Lady. I thought it would be a hilarious gift a few years back as she already acted like one hahaha
Looking at how Paddy Considine fleshed King Viserys I, I hope that one day a great actor would be able to do the same with the tragic fate of Aerys II the Mad King.
Please consider the Malazan Book of the Fallen. I'd love to see you tackle the Chain of Dogs, the Siege of Capustan, or the Last Siege of Y'ghatan.
I miss this show and all other medieval-themed dramas like it.
Can't wait for essos as well and the "Horse riders" with a ton of different ways to say the word "blood".
gotta be honest here boys,
1) 2 sponsorship messages might be a bit much (except if you're paid double)
2) not convinced concerning the new 3D modeling. It's new i get it but it lacks a lot of finesse. You got us used to better
Part from that, great work, keep it up !
Skip to 2:00 when video actually starts first 2 mins are an ad
Yeees more of this please!! A song of ice and fire content is the way!
Amazing work. I love seeing you guys treat these fantasy battles with respect, similar to historical ones. Really cool stuff
Rhaegar was the mad kings first son. That Tywin tried to betroth to Cersi.
You're talking about Rhaegar not Varys at 00:04:00
You should do some stuff on Valyrian armies
There was one survivor of Brandon's retinue, Ethan Glover who somehow managed to not only survive the executions but was able to live to join Eddard in his rescue of Lyanna.
THIS is the prequel we should have gotten.
This is such a deep universe.. Cheers for the vídeos, top quality!
Wow! Such a detailed account of things that never happened
It looks like a failed porn video game really…
The previous 2d illustrations about got in the kings and generals channel were more vibrant and stylish.
My only critic was the arts of the characters. But excellent episode.
I’m eager for more Star Wars videos, you know!
This video should’ve been called “Roberts Rebellion Part 1” or somethin.
Pretty good though
I'm loving all this content. Great work . Keep it coming m8
Nice animation!
This is awesome. A captivating listen for sure if you don't know the specifics of the non televised lore. I'll definitely be watching more.
I was meaning to ask you guys, since you already did several videos on GoT battles on your "Kings and Generals" channel, shouldent you include them over here or are you simply including battles/histories that transpired in ASOFAI books (not the show).Anyways nice.
I hope they use the books exclusively and don't put the bullshit in the show in this channel.
Big fan of 2 of your channels now. Much love from the Philippines. :)
Let's gooo!! Can't wait for the series to continue! Keep up the great work 👍
lets goo was just watching your latest vid never fail to amaze looking forward for more!
I've been waiting for this
Sweet and its a whole playlist
You have mixed up Viserys for Rhaegar.Tywin Lannister proposed the marriage of his daughter Cersei to Rhaegar not Viserys.
P.S I truly enjoy watching your videos,so keep up with the good work👍😊
Wow so much lore, my brain is overwhelmed lol I need to study up on this
Love it, Kings and Generals made several videos based on A Song of Ice and Fire and Game of Thrones so naturally the fantasy world of George RR Martin would be covered by Wizards and Warriors.
Looks like the same CGI is used to portray characters from the Sigmar episode is used here, I like it and that the characters look a bit different from the Game of Thrones show. Now onto the Battle of the Trident!
Great stuff, looking forward to this series guys 😊
Kings and Generals, have several fictional battles, including those relating to Game of Thrones, by the way!
The dance of dragons would be an awsome video to make
Great video! But I thought you were gonna tell how Aerys become mad
