As someone who saw Dune, she is almost the main character in it and she is great.
She's actually the one that recites the litany against fear
Agreed. She’s amazing in it!
Well good, she can act. Because irl life she is rather dumb. I've seen about 4 interviews with her and she is a pseudo intellectual. She can parrot words, phrases and terms of deeper meaning yet doesn't really grasp them herself.

@@samasoku Yes. You can look in a mirror and see a weepy triggered fanboy incel. Good you can admit it...
The film is really good, indeed. And Ferguson's performance as Lady Jessica is monumental.
Ferguson is one thing. The movie is another. The trailers are not promising. 1) It's too much CGI, 2) the main actor (playing Paul) is an unknown kid who's still struggling to act, and 3) the dialog is limp and inconsistent with the first book. All of which means I will be giving this one a hard pass.
@@wanderingfido I'm German, so the film has already premiered here. I've seen it three times by now. Believe me. It's pretty good. Especially the acting and visuals. The only criticism I'd have is the music by Hans Zimmer that is just a little bit too grounded for my taste. I would have wished something a little bit more colorful for Dune. But the soundtrack is still very decent and supportive of the incredible scenery.
@@maniak1768 I went back and rewatched the trailers. But still can't find any nuance nor gravitas. This flick is pandering too much to 'tweens. Of whom, ironically, will never watch it.
@@wanderingfido the trailers are pretty bad compared to the movie, I’ve seen it and it’s great
@@wanderingfido I've read the novel and I'm a huge fan of it, too, and this is such a dedicated and faithful adaptation that I don't think the judgement on basis of the trailers is grounds for anything. I was worried when seeing the trailers, too. I had extremely high expectations knowing the original material and I'm not a bit disappointed. The book is after all about a 15 year old protagonist, so I don't know what you're expecting from a Dune adaptation. I'm pretty satisfied by the film that Villeneuve made out the book. That said, I think that Paul Atreides is definitely not a Luke Skywalker sort of hero, but a protagonist that makes, given his prescient nature, more and more questionable choices, which is also quite obvious in the movie. The film captivates the richness of the novel to an impressive degree, I'd say. The trailers just contain sequences from the action scenes, though. They are of course marketing and targeted at a broad audience, not at a sci-fi-audience or fans of the book who will see the movie anyway. The film itself is definitely a little more nuanced than the trailers. I promise.
In her defense, Ian McKellan hadn't read lord of the rings before being cast as Gandalf!
Neither had Cate Blanchett readed before being Galadriel
@@jessica5497 i didn't know that, and I feel bad because it's no less amazing!
She carries the film I hope she gets the recognition she deserves
......is she the main character? WHY would she "carry the film"?!?!? If that what the movie IS, then that's just a fuckin' stupid movie! HELLO, Snow White's 7 Dwarves could NEVER be FEMALES, but if you're so smart....EXPLAIN how that would logically work!
@@josepheclesopasno6051 what?
@@josepheclesopasno6051 bruh read the book and stfu , is like asking "Why MArtha Kent is so important for Superman? or Why Bulma is so pivotal to Dragon Ball? "
@@ukiyoideas2215 dam😂😂😂
@@ukiyoideas2215 Why IS Martha Kent so important for Superman? Lemme guess, he's not "super" because he's a friggin' alien with powers derived from the Sun, NO...it's because Martha sewed him a costume and shared a teet...and no Jonathan Kent?!?! She wasn't a single mom, btw, so why IS Martha Kent so important? Sorry, didn't read or see Dragonballs so I don't know....guess I was too busy getting laid!
If ever there were a movie that needs to be seen on the biggest theater screen possible, this is it. 🤩
agreed
View it in 3D if your local cinema offers it!
Who other than Rebecca, with that classic look of nobility, would fit that role better? I knew it should be her as soon as this remake was announced!
Maybe a younger Cate Blanchett?
No you didn't know lol
@@Chinaski1 Cate would be far better
@@votranvietanh8494
Too old.
And I don't see the vulnerability in her that Rebecca can do.
Villeneuve's last movies: Blade Runner 2049, Arrival, Sicario, Prisoners.
Cannot WAIT to see Dune!
None of those were good movies, visually amazing, yes. Written like crap, and poorly directed. I can't say for Sicario, didn't see it.
And his first serious film "Incendies" may be his best... Relatively unknown, compared to those other ones, but powerful, amazing, unforgettable for me.
@Cthulhu lives - Bull. "Arrival" is very well written and directed, excellent sci-fi. "Sicario" is also excellent, when viewed as a very violent film about the current, grim social and political problems in Mexico, especially along the border with the US.
He's on next week

For those looking for more of her work, I whole heartedly recommend The White Queen. She is incredible in it and it made me a fan.
Agreed, as a brit thats where we saw her first and then she’s nailed everything since then.
Great show
I have a hard time looking past Rose the Hat lately! Either way she can perfectly portray most any role!
Dr sleep she nailed it.
Life (2017), my first, ehm, encounter with her. Very good movie too
Even though she's not a lover of the Dune universe, I think that worked in her favor for the part. She was basically a formless piece of clay the director could mold to his vision.
Saw the movie three times in Europe.
Dune is easily THE movie of the year. No matter how good Venom2, Spiderman or the Eternals will be. Dune is THE MOVIE of 2021.
It's an incredible movie in every aspect.
Venom, Spiderman and Eternals were never threat to Dune's "movie of the year" status though. Different leagues.
Bond…………james bond
Loved Dune. Watched 3 times too.
I read Dune as a teenager in the late '60's and was absolutely gobsmacked (an uncle who was a scifi fan left a copy in the family hunting cabin, found it when we were vacationing there... best vacation ever)!! Years later I found the serialized Analog magazine issues with the iconic illustrations by John Schoenherr which for me crystalized the look and feel of Dune!!
Lady Rebecca (heh), was the standout performance in this movie!
"Dune," the greatest eco-drama ever written. I'd LOVE to see a spin-off exploring the history of the Bene Gesserit: "Game of Crones..."
Luckily the actually are! Denis' directing some episodes too!
Bene Gesserit: Missionaria Impossible
🤣🤣🤣🎖
@@stevenflores5988 Yes, it’s to be called “Dune: The Sisterhood”
Timothee and Rebecca carried the movie for me. Both are so amazing!
Absolutely
I haven't seen du e Part 2. But damn is she good in part 1. I've never seen any movie where even the non main characters put so much effort into the movie. I have no words her acting is phenomenal in the movie.
I missed school one day in high school because I was feeling sick, I went back to bed for hours, and when I woke up, I turned the tv on and a movie was just starting... with a whole speech about a precious intergalactic spice... and the title appeared in full screen " D U N E." I was like wtf kinda movie is that?! It got weird fast but I loved it. I've rewatched it once since, and thought this baby was past due for a serious remake... and a few month later, this remake was announced! Can't wait til I get a chance to see it!
Did you ever catch the syfy miniseries? It covers the first 2 books
@@Jennino95 No, I've never heard of it... can't seem to find it either (from outside the US). That would've been cool.
One of the reason I love this book is the charakter of Lady Jessica and the mother-son relationship.
I read this book in high school, a loooong time ago. Then I read it a few more times. Wonderful, powerful work.
Excited for Dune, she’s great and I’m sure she nails the part. Doctor Sleep was actually really good and she kills it (pun?)in that as well.
She was so good in Dr Strange that I struggle to not dislike and be terrified of her in reality.
She does nail the part.
Every time I see interviews with the cast and the director, I'm always grateful that Villeneuve did right by this film. His attention to detail was top notch, and I think Herbert would've been proud of his work. Not to mention the cast all looked like they had a blast working on this film. Can't wait for a Part 2!
I don't understand trailers a bit. Jessica is almost out of them, yet she is the main female character in the story.
i imagine the trailer is what's supposed to entice a male audience to see the movie. it only seels an idea of the movie, so they cut a thing that will put bums on seats. i remember the first trailer last year was less funny than the one this year too. i figure they wanted people to think it was funnier (it's not).
Rebecca is one of my favorite parts of Dune 2021, she was AWESOME!
Amazing actress that embodies and elevates every role I've seen her in.
Stephen love DUNE , that makes me like and respect him even more. Dune is probably my favorite book, can’t wait to see the movie 🎥
I read Dune before anything of the movie was happening and she is almost exactly how I pictured the Lady Jessica

Honestly she could perfectly portray most any role.

She should get an Oscar for her role in 'Dune'.
Love it when I see fellow Swedes doing good and making it big .
She was amazing in Dune, great performances!!
Another great export from Sweden!
I adore Rebecca, she is a wonderful person, gorgeous and a great actress. I hope we'll have much more to hear and see from her in the future.
It's not out for weeks here. Please stop torturing me.
She's truly the main character of this first movie
That’s great to hear. She’s almost the main character of the book
Her decision to gift Duke Leto a son instead of a daughter as she was instructed to do by the Bene Gesserit, is the reason we have a six novel epic. 👾🦾
Totally worth it! Go see it! From the first scene onwards, you know you are going to see something special.
So stoked on her being in Dune
She kicks major ass! Saw this movie twice already.
She was INCREDIBLE as lady Jessica.
"Even when you walked in shadows"... shes a Bene Gesserit, sometimes she walks "in the light" if that happens to be the direction of her path.
Dune needs to be watched in IMAX for that total experience that no other screens can provide!
She's the best! ❤️❤️❤️
God damn it, this movie is like a poetry to cinema. The music, the set, the amazing actors.... it all blends together into this amazing experience. I hope I'll get to re-watch this at the cinema. Denis Villeneuve has a lot of respect for his audience and we, the audience, have a lot of respect for him.

I haven’t seen the film yet - only the trailers and as book fan but also as a British citizen and it’s not out for 20 days but holy hell that scene was glorious. Edit: the song in the scene is Night on Arakis on the official score album by Hans Zimmer.

Why dislikes? Such a good interview....🤔🤔
@@obsoerver7272 Oh, who cares. Her job is acting and she is perfect in the role. Josh Brolin also didn't read it.
It was interesting for what it left out. You could call this movie 'About A Boy.' Many of the forces around Paul are relatively obscured, like the roles and power of the Guild and Bene Gesserit, you don't see the Emperor or Fenring, Piter has less than a minute or so on screen. What was left in was highly accurate toward the book, but even the role of the Shadout Mapes was reduced to nothing. There are pacing issues, as well. But it's better than Lynch's Abomination, or the mini-series. Hope pt. 2 gets made.
you do realize all movies have to edit and cut things to adapt them to the screen. what works in a book won’t work on screen, etc
@@sammysoppy3361 yep, I'll try not to take that in a patronizing tone. Leaving out things like the Emperor, or the folding of space and the hand of the Guild in the plot against the Atreides is a bit more significant than leaving Tom Bombadil out of LotR.
Dune 1984 is great. Considered a true classic.
M. Colbert.. your passion for fantasy reading is very similar to mine.
Have you ever laid your eyes upon Robert Jordan's "The Wheel of Time" epic saga?
Don’t forget “the red tent” too.

Dune was absolutely marvelous! Villeneuve and Nolan are the mldern day masters of cinema! I really liked Ferguson at the start of the film but she became a bit of a side character near the end. At the late night double feature
I liked her and Captain Picard in the cool Merlin film, I feel like she shoulda been in Lord of the rings as an elf
Rebecca Ferguson was sooo great in Dune and also I have a crush on her
Im looking forward to this movie but in my heart Francesca Annis was the perfect Lady Jessica Atreides.
Wow! She almost finished answering the first question. Thank god we got the actual answer in the video title, or we'd never have known. Do you think you could have tacked on a little more of the rest of the interview to this tiny clip?
So Stephen didn't like Feyd or the Baron's relationship to Feyd as a mentor, or the specifics of what makes Leto the kind of man people would follow unto death, or what made Gurney an interesting character, or the Emperor, or any of the intrigue around Thufir and Jessica, or Thufir or "what a mentat even is", or the intrigue of CHOAM, etc. etc. etc., thus meaning yes, it was a perfect adaptation.
Looper needs to make a "the tragic career of Stephen colbert" video.
Only movie I have ever seen at the theater twice or twice period but then again I went and saw it a third time monumental epic historical political environmental a must see I hope they get academy kudos as well
Reminisce was amazing also
