The only thing that I would add is NEVER use red Loctite. The blue 242 is the way to go! Your advise to rotate as you tighten everything is spot on. Just like when you change a tire. Always alternate as you tighten anything down.
Extremely helpful video Phillips. I hope you either reference this video or make other new videos showing what you need to do to keep your Belt Driven Board in tip top shape. Just like with a turntable, belt drive is better!
Thanks for the video! It didn’t come in handy at first but I heard a rattle today when I freely spun the wheels on my Flex Riot, and it turns out there was a very small pebble stuck in the belt. Thanks for the info!
Loctite 243 is the updated version of 242. It’s more oil resistant so you should be able to apply it without cleaning your screws first. Should be about the same tho so use whichever one you happen to have.
I’ve never paid attention to that... But I don’t expect screws without threadlocker to vibrate out that quickly anyway so I don’t feel like waiting for Loctite to cure is necessary. I could be wrong but it hasn’t been an issue for me so far.
Daniel Kwan yeah I keep seeing different perspectives. Personally I try and wait like two hours but most of the time I do work on the boards at night so it sits overnight. Who knows I guess.
MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent i think letting it sit overnight gives the best results because it just eliminates the chance of maybe not working and it doesnt matter because most people dont use their board overnight
Really things should be pretty good. Have to be concerned with things getting in the belts because if you don’t get it out it could damage things.stay safe.
By now, most of us should have Flex Riot but now the problem comes: The belt tension screws are now super glued (strong loctite) so there's no way of us of removing them to adjust the tension anymore. A lot of us stripped the screws even using the 2.5mm T-handle tool. Even though we can't adjust motors now to be safe, my board came with belt that wasn't too tight or too loose so it was fine for me at least. I left mine as is and changing pulleys for 120mm Cloudwheels worked as fine except the motor guard that came with the combo pack did not fit unfortunately.
I hand turn my back left wheel and here a click, I don't know what it is. I thought it was the gear bearings, but I can't find any online for my Isinwheel V10. Any thoughts? I bought some Allen wrenches coming tomorrow,, hope to fix the problem soon.
Your chanel us pretty good. Very helpful and informative. How would you rate this against the Bustin board Sportster? And you prefer Hub or belt driven boards?
@@demetrioloza5095 I have two zealots. The old one ams new one no issues with pulleys. I think it sends on many factors. How hard someone rides, the Enviorment and how large the wheels are. Larger wheels means more pressure
Best to use "built in" bearings in your wheels such as Zealous or Loaded (Jehu V2) bearings so you don't need to have use spacers and speed rings(the tiny washers). Just less stuff to hassle with. The ones I hate are the washers inside the wheel pulleys. Loctite is a great idea for the motor pulley grub screw.
Yep I agree. I like those bearings with spacers built in. I may swap some of my bearings. The Flex bearings don’t move but my Zealots do. It’s not too bad though.
I got evolve bearings with built in spacers. Are bearings like that mix and match where I can use evolves or are spaces different sizes depending on brand?
Great video as ever but there are a few things I was hoping you'd address like; do the exway pulleys fit on the backfire and vice versa? And how easy is it to swap the backfires wheels for other abec style wheels? Perhaps in a future video?
Tiller Tiller that’s a lot 😂😂 maybe in another video I was focused on belt noise in this one. A lot of people complained about noise. But those are some good things to talk about.
I've seen a lot of posts about noises etc from people who bought a board recently 👏🏼 This is gonna help a lot of those people 🤙🏼 People, make sure to use blue loctite not the red, it aint the Matrix pills y'all 😂
Hey mate cheers for helping me choose the right board I’m gunna go with the exway flex hub, for my last bit of closure though in your opinion which is better flex or backfire g3
Both boards are good you have to decide which features are most important to you. Don’t forget to use the links and discount codes in the description of this video to support the channel.
Danny Liu yea bro I don’t think he’s gunna reply so I think the main differences are with the flex has slightly less top speed then the g3 but longer travel distance the braking is also better on the flex due to the reverse setting in the app, speaking of the app backfire dosent have one. I’ve gone for the flex just keep In mind if you order the flex it will get delivered mid July due to so many people ordering them I think overall the flex is slightly better but both good choices I think the flex comes with better trucks too hope this helps mate👍🏼
I ended up losing both screws(I’m assuming they both came out when I was riding) so I sent it back to them because I guess they couldn’t give me extra screws🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
I'm waiting on a flex riot myself. Ordered about 3 weeks ago. Shortly after I fractured my left elbow riding my regular street board. Still healing but I hope I'm good to go by the time my flex comes. Hey @MrPhillips, what pads you use? They looked like they had a pretty low profile. I don't want anything too bulky. Thanks!
I ordered my g3 from your video and got my tracking number on jun1 and now it jun9 and for some reason on fedex it saying pending and I asked backfire and they were rude about it and just told me to wait. (And I paid 100$ for faster shipping)

This video helped me diagnose Exway X1 Pro Riot and remove 2 pebbles! Thanks bro its smooth again
Nice glad I could help. 🤟🤟
Thanks so much for taking the time to produce these videos! I simply can't thank you enough.

David Downbond yes this loctite has really come though. I hate rattling 😝
My pleasure!

Nice. What are your thoughts of how long it should cure. There are so many suggestions online.

Hazem yep I think that is probably best. I do most of my work on my boards at night too.
thanks for sharing this maintenance guide! do you ever have to put any grease on the wheel bearings?
I have not personally but I am not an expert. That may make a good video topic. Let me look into it for you. 🤟 Don’t forger to share with a buddy
Thanks for listening and making this vid for us. Specially newbies like me to elongboards. My Zealot is back to normal now!😁👍🏼
Sherwynn Aller no doubt. Do me a favor share with some buddies. 🤙🤙 looking to shoot some more soon.
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent done!😎👍🏼
I know there are plenty of other belt drive maintenence videos out there, and I've watched them, but I'd love to see you do one.
Nice. That’s a good idea. How things been on your end.
Cool that sounds like a good idea.
Your the man bro! Thanks for another informative video. I haven’t received my Flex yet but I was wondering what part seems to go first ✊

New to e-board here, thanks for this video, helps a lot, subscribed from Taiwan~
Thanks, man! Helped a lot and was able to fix it within an hour. Had some nasty pebbles as well as a slightly loose screw at the end.

I think people can purchase their board with adjustable motor mounts. I think they were trying to get rid of the rattling sound .
Whats size Allen key did you use to remove the motor gear⚙ bro thanks

I wonder if they make aluminum Pulleys for the backfire zealot s, is this a good idea for a future upgrade?
My stock ones are holding up good. So I don’t know if it’s necessary.
I’ve actually cracked the abc ones I’m on the kegal pulleys rn with some boa wheels, I was wondering if this would also make belt noise quieter…

Hey I removed my grubs screw and applied loctite but it still rattles without the belt. Any reason this might happen?
wowgo3x vs exway riot
Do you know which is the most noisy when driving two boards?
Trying to buy something of a quiet.
Just now seeing this. Wish I had a Wowgo 3X to compare.
Thank you for this, this be good for my Pro Riot and Zealot!
Great video as always!
Eri yes I hate the sound of rattling man. Ride safe. 🤙
does your board make noise when idle or is it completely silent? mine has a slight constant chirp
Thanks for the video man, helped out a lot. I would also like to know if it would be ok to lube the bearings with a silicone film or something
I don’t know. I hear different things about putting lube on bearings. I may have to do some additional research.

AkaliA Ø I like that would be dope. May have to consider. 🤙🤟
@@MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent Let me know when that happens! :)

Let us know if it works. 🤙🤙
I run 1/4” flex on my belts on my Exway Flex.
It runs very smooth and quiet. Never an issue…
Do you find the dirt and debris is constantly getting stuck in the belt drive?
No. If you ride off road you will need to do more cleaning and checking but if you ride in streets and normal places no.
can you make a video for RUNAJOY Belt Drive Motors Electric Skateboard? I see a new Belt Drive Motors Electric Skateboard sell on amazon
What kind of would would you recomend?
Piotr Zielonka hey you have a typo can’t understand what you mean. Can you re ask the question.
Some words about belt tension, because if its too tight, it will make noises and will wear out the bearings faster.
I ended up losing both screws(I’m assuming they both came out when I was riding) so I sent it back to them because I guess they couldn’t give me extra screws🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Great to know, patiently waiting on my Flex🤗
YMK The Creative oh yeah. Any word yet when it arrives? You will definitely need to know how to do these things.

Kyle Lanoue and if you don’t get faster shipping you have to wait up to 1 month for it to shop it on the website
Maybe I’m just spoiled with Amazon prime but this all seems a little F*cky
Can any loctite glue work?
No use the lower removable grade so the bolts and screws don’t get stuck . It’s in the video I show it. 🤙 it’s the 242 removable. Stay safe.
Great! Thanks! Higher! 😊🍀🌟
Nice video. Do you or anyone know how to get Dope Grip from a US vendor?
I will see if I can get my boy J-sun to help you he has some on his board.
