How times have changed, we had a seven sleeper in the 70’s towed with a two door Chevy. Mom and Dad in the Cab and us 5 kids in the bed of the trucker under a nice camper shell. Oh the places in Alaska we went!
when we go camping my husband always says "we have the tent, something to sleep in, something to cook on, some food, something to change into so anything else is a luxury"... And he is so right. It's only ever really me, him and the dog so as long as I have dog food and a first aid kit as she can be quite daring when you least expect it, I am now quite happy and chilled.
To date we have forgotten towels, washbags, frying pan, certain food items, tea towels, washing up liquid, (my friend once forgot the gas to cook on but remembered in time to hit a store before we were no where near one).. Three trips in a row I forgot tea towels. Too many trips to remember in a row I forgot a hairbrush and my husband has no hair to speak of so couldn't use his comb lol and we were so far away from a shop of any kind my hair must have looked just beautiful 6 days later.
Once upon a time all those things would have had me an anxious mess but my husbands relaxed attitude has finally had a settling effect on my overwrought one. Don't forget bug spray and sun cream ever as you will always need it when you least expect it lol
Echoes of camping trips when I was growing up. 😊 My family had a pop-up camper that we towed behind one of those 1970's land-yacht station wagons. One year we went from south-central Pa to Vermont - that was quite a drive. It was also a very scenic drive and destination, just like your trip. Loved all the drone and beauty shots you gave us - thanks! Made me miss the mountains even more and I am looking forward to getting my mountain fix hopefully next year. I hope Lance had a great birthday, and everyone had a fun time 'on the road'. 🤗🏕🏞💗

Love that you got a camper! We’re planning to travel from Alabama to Alaska with our camper if the borders ever straighten out from Covid. We retired and planned it for summer of 2020 and still waiting. FYI: sometimes it takes 48-72 hrs for the fridge to get cold enough to maintain your food temps. We keep ours plugged in at home because we never know when we might hook up and go somewhere. Enjoy! We loved the vlog!

We did a 4 night road trip from Fairbanks to Homer in June. 4 adults and two dogs. It was a beautiful trip!
We. Made the drive from Anchorage to Fairbanks… it took us forever with the 2 lanes and all the traffic but we got to enjoy the scenery longer.😊

The Red Robin in Wasilla is really good. We ate there alot. We also camped in Eagle River when we lived up there. Brings back alot of memories. Have fun. Thank you for sharing.
Alaska is beautiful! I have always wanted to come and see the beauty of the mountains and landscape there, probably will never happen, but it is great to see it in your videos.

I'll never forget driving over 200 miles with 3 kids and an infant. I learned how to change the diaper (cloth, not disposable like they have today) while driving. But, we made it to our destination in under 4 hours. But, my kids loved singing, so they were either singing along with the radio or choosing their own songs to sing (usually John Denver songs). We always had fun. Years later taking them over 300 miles to the mountains for camping and fishing took around 5 1/2 to 6 hours. Great memories. Enjoy making your memories.

Hind sight is 20/20 generally we stop at Healy and Wasilla for gas Cantwell is generally way more expensive than Healy,

Such a gorgeous drive from Fairbanks to Anchorage. I've drove it a couple of times. You gonna want to keep stopping to soak in all the amazing scenery. Alaska don't hesitate to brag and boast on its State and it lives up to it. Almost every half a mile have a picture sign for you to survey the beauty of the Last Frontier. Love camping! We camp, only stop for gas. If you have to go to the bathroom we use the rv only. My husband loves to drive so we end up driving for hours. Remember, don't stress about people behind you when trying to back into your rv spot. I don't understand people....they were at one time a first time rver!!! Happy Birthday Lance! The little snack packs you maxe for your kids were a great idea 😊
I remember the fires when I visited in 2019. Actually saw flames and firefighters. I believe it was just south of Talkeetna when traveling by bus to the lodge there. Was that where you saw the fields of Fireweed?

Poor Lance. Tell him he needs to download one of the many apps that tells him where the gas stations and prices are.
the price of the gas was that amount because it is the last gas station for 100 miles -- locations like this and those near the exit/ entrances to the highway are always much higher than anywhere else because of location and convenience :-)
