It was really heartwarming to see that Ivar actually cares about Hvitserk. We know he can show compassion towards others, but it always seemed like he's only keeping Hvitserk around because he doesn't want Ubbe to have him.
Guess he has come to actually value Hvitserk. When you reach a low point you need your family around you but Ivar had alienated them all. Must have made him rethink some stuff.

Ubbe is the one more Ragnar like, very curious, wants to find land to explore and to farm, good leader, good father, good husband and of course he looks a lot like Ragnar.

He hated the seer because if Ragnar wouldn't have known his future he could have change it by not looking for anybody else living with the fact that he will only have Bjorn as his child, but the seer said you will have more children so he look for more elsewhere. That's why at the end when he was in the cage before being delivered to king Aelle he was talking to the "seer" (blind man) moaning about him giving Lagertha a fate of not having more children that if she wouldn't have known she could have looked after herself after being pregnant by Kalf and that he carved his fate to his own death. He followed his "fate" but he never wanted to cheat on Lagertha, not saying he didn't enjoy it but he wasn't looking to cheat on her.
Remember when Ragnar told him to think with his head and not with what's between his legs, when he disappeared of with Porunn. It was in one of the early seasons. It was like Ragnar knew that Borjn had a weakness for the ladies lol. He's can't seem to stay faithful to any of his wife's.
I believe Ivar is going to convince Bjorn to join forces. Explaining to Bjorn that he can’t win, and that Ivar is going to betray Oleg. Which will lead to Ivar and Hvitserk going to England and Kattegat being safe. Also salute to Gunnhild on this episode. I believe her and Ubbe would’ve made a better team. Both are level headed and regal.
I wonder if Ivar is seeing his ex wife as hallucination? Like his guilt is manifesting and its making him see her differently to everyone else? Just thought, I might be wrong.
Rome was an amazing show! Too bad HBO wasn’t willing to continue bankrolling it, truly ahead of its time. The whole thing with Gunnhild is really depressing, agreed.

Ivar needs to decide which side he is truly on... Changing his mind here and there is what will be his undoing. He didn't look too thrilled about Oleg announcing he will bring an end to the Pagan Gods.

There really is no reason for Ivar to be fighting with his brothers now that Lagertha is dead. I think its pretty much 100% guaranteed after Olegs speech about the gods that Ivar sets up something with Bjorn/Dir to betray him.
If Ivar, Bjorn, Harald, Igor and Dir cooperate to defeat Oleg it might save this bad season actually. Finally some great plot twist we have been waiting for
The Wanderer seems to clearly have been the guy who built the Christian cross that Floki found in the cave. He most likely killed Floki too. Lies upon lies.
We all did think of Floki when we saw the figure wearing furs and holding a staff. (He kills and then he takes the identity) I still think we'll see Floki alive. But I certainly wouldn't rule out what you're saying.

I'm definitely convinced the two met and that the Wanderer gained Floki's trust otherwise him using the name Athelstan would be to coincidental. He had to have heard it from Floki.
@@cheker10000 Floki likely suffered some serious injuries if he indeed did survive the cave in. The Wanderer may seem timid but he is played by Ray Winstone (Punisher, Rome) and he is one big guy. It would also be a poetic that Floki died at the hands of a priest calling himself Athelstan.
Bjorn: *leaves the bed*, Me: Yeah well I expected that, he made his decisions Gunnhild: *cries tears of gold*, Me: Whaaaaat, oh shit *shook* I smell a character revelation here Iceland? More like lies-land! There are still a lot more things going on we don’t know about and the outcome of this settlement is getting rather interesting. The storyline was rather depressing last season, but is getting a nice redemption these episodes. Might also get interesting to see how Vikings could make the transition from this war of faith in Scandinavia with the Christians invading, to England with a Christian King - maybe for 6B. Right now Ivar is just shown as a soft human bean with a big heart for the kid Igor and his now mentally insane brother, really convincingly happy to have him back by his side. The conversation between these two about princess Katia was pure comedy gold :D Also funny how Hvitserk called first Bjorn and now Ivar crazy, while being a nut bag himself. Still curious to find out if he is actually going to kill Ivar or maybe betray him by telling Oleg about the Dir storyline. What I really like about this episode is how is once more blends the world of real and mystic together. We had the wanderer Harbard ho is suspected to be Odin in season 3, now we have Gunnhild crying Freya’s tears. The seer has been dead a long time but makes his way back into the episodes as well. Vikings does a great job in this episode mixing all the mystery into this already intense pre mid season finale. Also the realisation of next week being the last episode for a long time again makes me a bit sentimental haha. Skol!
Ray Stevenson is a fantastic actor. He was in the 2004 remake of King Arthur, Black Sails, The Book of Eli, Three Musketeers, Thor, The Other Guys and a ton of other great movies and tv series. The guy has one hell of an archive.
Ah yes, Dagonet! Loved that performance very much. His Blackbeard though really was tremendous in Black Sails. His scenes were the ones I kept going back and rewatching.
You missed the main point of that scene! Floki has always had not just contempt but hatred for the christian gods more so than anyone else in the show and he would NEVER offer any leniency to any christian people and Ubba knows this. That's how Ubba now knows he's dealing with a con man but he's playing dumb for now to get more accurate information would be my guess. (If he calls him out on it now, the defences go up and there's no more talking between them, so instead ask smart questions and look for inconsistencies in his story).
In second thought maybe this wanderer is the one whom saved Floki in the cave.. and Floki being done with people said even further west after recovering from the cave .. maybe he’s the one that left the “crumb” and story’s to be shared.. purely guessing in the dark but it would be a nice tie in

Something's interesting here, but when harbard came to Kattegat he mentioned to aslaug about sleeping with a Russ woman, who happened to birth a child called Oleg who was a Duke in Russ, just thought it was cool that Ivar who has a link with harbard is now teaming up with his son
Ubbe has become the most Ragnar lookalike of all the sons. He has his blue eyes, his mannerisms, his curiosity, his charisma. And to think that he was not my favorite at the beginning.

This was another very great episode. They are clearly setting up Floki to come back. I’m also very excited to see how Ivar wins or loses the next battle. This will be a very good mid season finally. I think Bjorn will probably leave his new wife and go back to Gunheld.
Ray Stevenson (Othere) is a great actor. Not just Titus, he is also Franck Castle (The Punisher WZ) & Blackbeard (Black Sails). Again, the whole thing with Iceland & "Golden Land" seems like a historical cop out to me. We all know The golden land is either greenland saga or vinland saga. The whole Eric The Red Saga happened centuries down the line. Dude didn't even born yet many decades later after King Harald's death. The inaccuracies is just borderline fantasy LOL

'cause the show littered with modern thinkery. So freaking weird that in this show every polygamy marriage end up with one wife dies or low key being divorced/separated. Totally make no sense with the actual history of most polygamy as likely king's wives would be in one big house together/one occupation. Ubbe has been my favorite character/son since Ragnar left. He's so similar to Ragnar, and he's definitely the most level-headed son imo. I can't wait to see what happens with his storyline in 6b. Ragnar and Athelstan are going on another journey again. haha I've really enjoyed 6a. 6x10 is going to be insane!

I think Othere actual identity is Thorvald Asvaldsson, the father of Erik The Red. It make total sense if you read his historical biography, especially as the one who got stranded to greenland (Golden land) ... So this season kinda low key introducing two MCs for the spin off "Vikings: Valhalla." That's my predictions ...

in real life the sons of Ragnar left on Vikings lived into their 70's, 80,'s and 90's, so that's why I expect them to survive the battles even though they did kill sigurd and in real life he lived the longest or close to the longest

Actually Hvitserk meets an early demise when defeated by opposing forces while pillaging with the Rus. According to legend he asked to be burned alive at the stake. For this reason I don't see Hvitserk surviving the season. The end is near for him.

Maybe Ragnar was the one who found the golden land during his lost years after the Fankia defeat and had wanted to leave bread crumbs for his children to find when there time came . He new the name would stand out and put weight in the words of Faux Athelstan..
I agree that this was the best of this season. So much coming together. I'd be happy if I can get through an episode without crying at this stage (Torvi seeing her son got me going) I'm still of the strong belief that Floki didnt get a proper send off so he will be back.

i dont't know friend.. this season at least haven't answer my questions and got dragged with every episode with uninteresting things, without soul, gods, divinity or greatness, maybe i am wrong, but i for one. i feel and emptiness in my heart, i love it, but it's now what it can be. for examaple no thing with the gods this season, remember how we felt when odin is telling ragnar sons that their father is dead? fuck. that was the feeling i was looking for, or at least something interesting like a plot twist, but all was soo predictable...i expected much more with this season, especially bjorn to do something interesting, different, something real that will last. or hvisterk..

at the end of the episode he said you have no idea what that name means to me he's talking about the priest from earlier seasons did he ever meet him kind of confused me why he said that
This episode felt like a halt in the storyline, unlike episode 8 which advanced the story so much and started bringing them all together to set up this enormous battle, which they are literally leaving til the last moment so this whole season was just build up and we have to wait another year to see this war play out, much like season 7 and 8 of TWD, except there was only a few months of wait in between
They've been doing it for years now. This is Ivar and Bjorns 3rd battle at the end of a season/mid season and in-between them its like half the shit doesn't matter and is just added in to make it show. Love the show to this day but the first 3 seasons were not like that.
i liked Björn when he was 16-20. . but as a kid he was uptight and as an adult he became unfaithful and indecisive . of course he is very brave and very strong in the battelfield but he lacks the spirit of strategy that Ivar and even Ubbe inherited from Ragnar .

@ RTSomi , In real history, Ivar does not stay in England for very long at all. He killed King Aella and then moved on to Bublin ,Ireland. Dublin became a huge stronghold for trade and power in that time for the Vikings. Modern Dublin still has more Viking memorabilia than even Denmark or Norway cities.
I would like to point out Floki's words about Bjorn in season one: "(to Bjorn) You have your father's eyes... (to Ragnar) he will be like you..." and Bjorn is copying his father when it comes to women. Just can't keep it in his pants (annoys me to no end). When it comes to Ivar and Hvitserk, well, I've been turned off by Hvitserk's character for his bragging about killing Lagertha (but that's a personal thing), but I think after alienating himself from all his brothers, Ivar has realized how much he really cares about them (well, Hvitserk at least). Ideally, I would like some sort of outcome where the three brothers in the incoming battle actually come together to stop this Rus threat but I won't hold my breath. As for the Iceland storyline, things will get very interesting, I must say.

It’s sort of like he found a younger brother in Igor. Personally, this is what makes Ivar so interesting as a character. He really is a three demential character.

I think but was first not sure it was really Ivar and not an imagination. Now I think he takes it as a sign. That what the seer told him. I think he thinks he will still kill Ivar but in a great way that will redeem himself. Both he and Ivar will turn on Russians during battle.
We all think that Floki will become the new seer because the actual seer licked his hand and said I was waiting for you, but I think is more the fact that the seer knows the future of course and knows that their gods will be replaced for the Christian religion gods so, I think Floki will become someone important in the christian religion that will replace Odin's religion hence the seer is accepting the fate that the old gods will be gone for good as it happened in real life. So I think Floki will become a monk or something like it. Remember he lost faith in the gods and humanity maybe this new religion will make him gain that faith again.

Great video brother, in this episode it showed that clearly our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the only way to solve any problem. Only when the wonderer prayed to the real God Torvi experienced real relief, and a miracle happened.

We all did think of Floki when we saw the figure wearing furs and holding a staff. (He kills and then he takes the identity) I still think we'll see Floki alive. But I certainly wouldn't rule out what you're saying.

I'm definitely convinced the two met and that the Wanderer gained Floki's trust otherwise him using the name Athelstan would be to coincidental. He had to have heard it from Floki.
@@cheker10000 Floki likely suffered some serious injuries if he indeed did survive the cave in. The Wanderer may seem timid but he is played by Ray Winstone (Punisher, Rome) and he is one big guy.
It would also be a poetic that Floki died at the hands of a priest calling himself Athelstan.

Iceland? More like lies-land! There are still a lot more things going on we don’t know about and the outcome of this settlement is getting rather interesting. The storyline was rather depressing last season, but is getting a nice redemption these episodes. Might also get interesting to see how Vikings could make the transition from this war of faith in Scandinavia with the Christians invading, to England with a Christian King - maybe for 6B.
Right now Ivar is just shown as a soft human bean with a big heart for the kid Igor and his now mentally insane brother, really convincingly happy to have him back by his side. The conversation between these two about princess Katia was pure comedy gold :D Also funny how Hvitserk called first Bjorn and now Ivar crazy, while being a nut bag himself. Still curious to find out if he is actually going to kill Ivar or maybe betray him by telling Oleg about the Dir storyline.
What I really like about this episode is how is once more blends the world of real and mystic together. We had the wanderer Harbard ho is suspected to be Odin in season 3, now we have Gunnhild crying Freya’s tears. The seer has been dead a long time but makes his way back into the episodes as well. Vikings does a great job in this episode mixing all the mystery into this already intense pre mid season finale.
Also the realisation of next week being the last episode for a long time again makes me a bit sentimental haha. Skol!

Ray Stevenson is a fantastic actor. He was in the 2004 remake of King Arthur, Black Sails, The Book of Eli, Three Musketeers, Thor, The Other Guys and a ton of other great movies and tv series. The guy has one hell of an archive.
Ah yes, Dagonet! Loved that performance very much. His Blackbeard though really was tremendous in Black Sails. His scenes were the ones I kept going back and rewatching.

You missed the main point of that scene! Floki has always had not just contempt but hatred for the christian gods more so than anyone else in the show and he would NEVER offer any leniency to any christian people and Ubba knows this. That's how Ubba now knows he's dealing with a con man but he's playing dumb for now to get more accurate information would be my guess. (If he calls him out on it now, the defences go up and there's no more talking between them, so instead ask smart questions and look for inconsistencies in his story).

Ubbe has become the most Ragnar lookalike of all the sons. He has his blue eyes, his mannerisms, his curiosity, his charisma. And to think that he was not my favorite at the beginning.

This was another very great episode. They are clearly setting up Floki to come back. I’m also very excited to see how Ivar wins or loses the next battle. This will be a very good mid season finally. I think Bjorn will probably leave his new wife and go back to Gunheld.
Ray Stevenson (Othere) is a great actor. Not just Titus, he is also Franck Castle (The Punisher WZ) & Blackbeard (Black Sails).
Again, the whole thing with Iceland & "Golden Land" seems like a historical cop out to me. We all know The golden land is either greenland saga or vinland saga. The whole Eric The Red Saga happened centuries down the line. Dude didn't even born yet many decades later after King Harald's death. The inaccuracies is just borderline fantasy LOL

Idk why people feel so upset about Bjorn and his Wives welcome to History, all cultures has practiced that for 1000s of years its normal until modern times. I do think he is treating his first wife bad though buy not acknowledging her and respecting her feelings. 'cause the show littered with modern thinkery. So freaking weird that in this show every polygamy marriage end up with one wife dies or low key being divorced/separated. Totally make no sense with the actual history of most polygamy as likely king's wives would be in one big house together/one occupation. Ubbe has been my favorite character/son since Ragnar left. He's so similar to Ragnar, and he's definitely the most level-headed son imo. I can't wait to see what happens with his storyline in 6b. Ragnar and Athelstan are going on another journey again. haha I've really enjoyed 6a. 6x10 is going to be insane!

in real life the sons of Ragnar left on Vikings lived into their 70's, 80,'s and 90's, so that's why I expect them to survive the battles even though they did kill sigurd and in real life he lived the longest or close to the longest

Actually Hvitserk meets an early demise when defeated by opposing forces while pillaging with the Rus. According to legend he asked to be burned alive at the stake. For this reason I don't see Hvitserk surviving the season. The end is near for him.

I wonder if this might tie in Ragnars missing years ? Maybe Ragnar was the one who found the golden land during his lost years after the Fankia defeat and had wanted to leave bread crumbs for his children to find when there time came . He new the name would stand out and put weight in the words of Faux Athelstan..
I agree that this was the best of this season. So much coming together. I'd be happy if I can get through an episode without crying at this stage (Torvi seeing her son got me going) I'm still of the strong belief that Floki didnt get a proper send off so he will be back.

i dont't know friend.. this season at least haven't answer my questions and got dragged with every episode with uninteresting things, without soul, gods, divinity or greatness, maybe i am wrong, but i for one. i feel and emptiness in my heart, i love it, but it's now what it can be. for examaple no thing with the gods this season, remember how we felt when odin is telling ragnar sons that their father is dead? fuck. that was the feeling i was looking for, or at least something interesting like a plot twist, but all was soo predictable...i expected much more with this season, especially bjorn to do something interesting, different, something real that will last. or hvisterk..

This episode felt like a halt in the storyline, unlike episode 8 which advanced the story so much and started bringing them all together to set up this enormous battle, which they are literally leaving til the last moment so this whole season was just build up and we have to wait another year to see this war play out, much like season 7 and 8 of TWD, except there was only a few months of wait in between
It does seem we will be back on break as soon as we actually start getting into the swing of things :(

They've been doing it for years now. This is Ivar and Bjorns 3rd battle at the end of a season/mid season and in-between them its like half the shit doesn't matter and is just added in to make it show.
Love the show to this day but the first 3 seasons were not like that.

i liked Björn when he was 16-20. . but as a kid he was uptight and as an adult he became unfaithful and indecisive . of course he is very brave and very strong in the battelfield but he lacks the spirit of strategy that Ivar and even Ubbe inherited from Ragnar .

@ RTSomi , In real history, Ivar does not stay in England for very long at all. He killed King Aella and then moved on to Bublin ,Ireland.
Dublin became a huge stronghold for trade and power in that time for the Vikings. Modern Dublin still has more Viking memorabilia than even Denmark or Norway cities.

I would like to point out Floki's words about Bjorn in season one: "(to Bjorn) You have your father's eyes... (to Ragnar) he will be like you..." and Bjorn is copying his father when it comes to women. Just can't keep it in his pants (annoys me to no end). When it comes to Ivar and Hvitserk, well, I've been turned off by Hvitserk's character for his bragging about killing Lagertha (but that's a personal thing), but I think after alienating himself from all his brothers, Ivar has realized how much he really cares about them (well, Hvitserk at least). Ideally, I would like some sort of outcome where the three brothers in the incoming battle actually come together to stop this Rus threat but I won't hold my breath. As for the Iceland storyline, things will get very interesting, I must say.
Guess he has come to actually value Hvitserk. When you reach a low point you need your family around you but Ivar had alienated them all. Must have made him rethink some stuff.

It’s sort of like he found a younger brother in Igor. Personally, this is what makes Ivar so interesting as a character. He really is a three demential character.

We all think that Floki will become the new seer because the actual seer licked his hand and said I was waiting for you, but I think is more the fact that the seer knows the future of course and knows that their gods will be replaced for the Christian religion gods so, I think Floki will become someone important in the christian religion that will replace Odin's religion hence the seer is accepting the fate that the old gods will be gone for good as it happened in real life. So I think Floki will become a monk or something like it. Remember he lost faith in the gods and humanity maybe this new religion will make him gain that faith again.
The old gods never left. Polytheistic Nordic relegions are still going strong. The Christian god is never going to replace them in reality too.
