This makes me feel very old, but it's amazing that the music is still being listened to. Let's hope that continues and it isn't lost to the depths of history!
Another great one there, Chris. You have reminded me of some great albums which I have and seldom play these days. I'm putting that right as we speak. All the best for 2025!
Hiya Chris, Happy New Year to you! Before I watched this video I decided to go through my collection (albeit most of it is digital these days) and see what I have from 1975 to compare. We certainly have quite a few in common but here are a few additional ones from my collection which I think are worthy of mention: Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run (the album was also from '75 - I totally agree that the track is easily his best) Cockney Rebel - Psychomodo Eagles - One of These Nights Elton John - Captain Fantastic Glitter Band - Rock & Roll Dudes (maybe a surprise choice one but I loved this back in the day and still listen to it) Hello - Keeps Us Off The Streets - (an absolute glam classic) Kansas - Song for America & Masque Wings - Venus & Mars Queen - Night at the Opera (I see you have Bohemian Rhapsody single but surprised you never mentioned this one!) Robert Palmer - Pressure Drop Rush - Caress of Steel (I know - worst Rush Album but also came out in '75) Status Quo - On The Level Supertramp - Crisis? What Crisis? Suzi Quatro - Your Mama won't like Me (can't beat a bit of Suzi!) Interestingly neither Slade nor Sweet had an album release in '75 Certainly was a good year though. Cheers for now my friend! 😀
Happy new year Gary. Hope you’re and Donna had a great Christmas. Some of these I considered. Eg Eagles, Quo, Kansas I went with Fly by night for Rush as it’s better for me than COS. I usually steer clear of Queen as I have an aversion to Brian Mays guitar tone. It was a great year. Not as good as 77 or 72 but pretty decent. Hopefully catch up this year. Love to Donna. Cheers fella, Chris

Happy New Year, Chris. I like Steely Dan but there is something a bit smug about them that can be offputting. Loved your ‘75 selection of singles. In a batch of old albums given to me recently was an album by Jigsaw, which was a surprise. Roadrunner is brilliant as are the Modern Lovers tracks on the Beserkley Chartbusters LP.
Got into Steely Dan when The Royal Scam was released in 1976 and love everything they did in the 1970’s. The two albums I played the most in ‘75 were Physical Graffiti and Wish You Were Here. What a time to be a teenager 😀

Ah Chris! You took me back to that muddy field at the Reading Festival watching Rory Gallagher, Camel, and Phil Manzanera's 801 with Eno and Simon Phillips!
Steve Hackett's first solo album, Voyage of the Acolyte, came out in 1975 and features the wonderful Shadow of the Hierophant which inevitably features in his live show every year to this day with the bass pedals causing the building to vibrate. A wonderful track by a fantastic guitarist.
Nice selection, thanks! Some great 1975 albums that would make my list are B.T.O: Four Wheel Drive; Jethro Tull: Minstrel in the Gallery; Can: Landed; John Cale: Helen of Troy; Joni Mitchell: The Hissing of Summer Lawns; Status Quo: On the Level; Golden Earring: Switch; Steppenwolf: Hour of the Wolf and last but certainly not least Bob Dylan: Desire and Grateful Dead: Blues for Allah which is arguably their best studio effort. @TheVinylOrchard You should give Minstrel another try! It's such a great album! Cheers 🍻
@ don’t hold your breath! It’s the flute and the vaguely folky sound that doesn’t appeal. I have two albums by them. Never play them tbh
Steely Dan best band America has ever produced .
"produced" 🥴
@Beethoven5th production being central to their whole style /method /sound.
See what you did there
There are many contenders for that crown
They sound so American ,capture the essense of the ironic losers and outsiders, they make jazz sound like rock ,rock sound like pop ,clever stuff.@TheVinylOrchard
As a track, Hair of the Dog by Nazareth stands up well in this company.
Is that from their first album. Haven’t got it sadly
@@TheVinylOrchard Their sixth album I think. Guns n Roses covered it in the 90s.
Ah yes of course. Think I can picture the cover.
Has anyone ever listened to Tomita,s A Night At the Exhibition??
@@janzimny1977 no. Not my thing to be honest
@ he’s a Japanese moog and electronic musical genius! Give him a shot, his playing actually make notes sound like real life sounds!!
Sorry Chris, George Lazenby was not the original James Bond. That was Sean Connery . George was I believe the Big Fry's man.
Very true. OHMSS was about 69. Connery was way before that
Fleetwood Mac
Yep. Included them. Cheers Andy
Yikes Steely Dan!
Completely undecided about them tbh
