  • This video is how to do a idle relearn on Mazda 3 with the 2.0. If you are having idling issues and dying issues and you changed the battery or had it disconnected this is the info you need

For the record for anyone whom doesn't know, but this does works for the 2005 to 2013 models with the same engine. Worked well on my 2010 3i, do it exactly like the vid says. Use a timer, if you have too.

Got new battery, spark plugs, wires and ignition coils. I let it idle for about 20 minutes. When I checked it it stopped on it's own. I cranked it up and drove it around the block it stopped while driving. Mazda Protégé 2000 about 230k miles. Do I try the idle relearn once more (adding the a/c idle) and maybe a cam shaft

Is this the mech throttle body or the elec drive-by-wire?

this was very reassuring. thanks a lot. I expected or hoped it was related to the battery because I had just reconnected it after changing the speakers in the front doors. but I couldn't rule out a mechanical issue either because the garage changed and oxygen sensor yesterday and apparently had some difficulty doing it.
another thing that happens on the Mazda 3 when you disconnect the battery and which I just discovered is that the one touch window roll up or down gets deactivated and has to be reactivated by closing the driver side window and continuing to hold the button for 5 seconds more.

Shops dont even care if they fix your car. They just want to sell you as many parts as they can.

this. I got a check engine light and took the car to the shop. They checked for everything and send me a quote for about 2000 USD. that didn´t include fixing whatever was wrong with the car, they couldn't actually find it and recommended to replace the PCM module.

I have an 05 Mazda 3 and it does this every so often. It had been sitting so long with a dead battery before I bought it. I recently put a new battery in it and haven’t drove it longer than 15/20 minutes at a time. I am hoping this is the issue. Only difference is mines the 2.3 instead of the 2.0. I don’t think that would be too different. Thank you, I’ll pop back on if that was my issue.

hey man appreciate the info, my ac no longer blows cold will the car still relearn if i just use the ac on heat instead or is it important the ac compressor running for it to work?

As long as your AC compressor spins, because it adds an extra load to the motor

I just got my 2011. 154k miles, on the second day in the morning it had a long crank finally started up on the 3rd one but i could turn it off and on easy after that. Took it on the highway to get some charge on the battery bc its been in the lot for about a month. When i got back near my house the car stalled silently didnt even notice it turns off.
Pulled over cranked starts up fine. And today i had no start up issues. Anything similar happen to you? Also the battery is new got it tested and was put in a month the ago by dealer. The same length of time the guy said he had the car for so i believe it. Have any similar problems like that?
Im still taking to get tuned up regardless as anyone should do buying a used car
