I almost forgot 200 peso bill exists... I haven't seen one for about 7 years... 🤣🤣🤣 Awww... They didn't included the largest banknote ever created. It was the size of an A4 paper, I think it's a 100 thousand peso bill. And yes, it has value. It was to commemorate something that I don't remember exactly... They still do that limited edition designs on the coins to commemorate special events like 100 year anniversaries. I used to collect it as it was pretty unique...
they asked if you can asked to change like 1000 pesos to 5 200 bills. Answer is yes you can, but are you willing to wait hours in the bank for that? also above 500 is consider high value in Ph, 500=$10 and 1000=$20 usd. it may seem low in US but majority of low income filipinos buys at a sari sari store for small purchases, around 5-50 pesos per transaction. imagine paying 1000 when you only bought worth 20. you will also hear the line "wala pong barya" or they don't have change to that bill. it is likely a useless scenario of printing more than 1000 bill (5000 or 10000 like in yen).
200 pesos bill is not rare but the least common among the paper bills. UCPB ATMs regularly dispense 200 bills if you withdraw 400, 900 pesos. I cannot remember getting it from BPI, Metrobank or BDO. This big 3 has the most atm machines.
Philippines peso supposed to be equal or higher value than American dolllar if President Nixon didn’t past the Nixon shook that the currency of USA is become a fiat currency coz Philippines got a milllions tons of gold back in the mahalika day
The reason why the 200 peso bill is STILL rare because it is lately added in circulation. in the late 2000s when President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo sat as the 2nd female president of the country. Her father is actually the one featured in the bill. The other bills are long in circulation. Actually, these bills are the new upgraded series. The old bills are of the same color and the featured people are retained. You can change your bills if you want by going even at neighborhood stores. You don't have to go to banks for an exchange, except when you're still holding the old note and coin series. Other features not discussed is the small Baybayin translation of the Philippines and the weaved column on each of the notes at the back right side. Each bank note has a weave pattern column from each tribal group in the country
