This tiny little Island produces music to rival the world. We take it all for granted. What an extraordinary country I live in. I fear that with the modern digital world we won't produce gentlemen like the two we have just seen in the future. I grew up in the late seventies It was an amazing decade of music that ended with the Jam and the Specials. To us it was exciting but normal. How lucky we were.
Harvey Smith The specials,LOL,I find it funny when people talk about a great artist like Weller ,and then try to suggest much lesser artists, are just as good. The specials, that's funny.
I always wonder about that very thing. So many great bands and artists from UK and Ireland, I don't really like being proud of your country as most of the time its for closed minded people. But I am proud of the music that has been produced here xx
My favourite all time Jam single, loved it all those years ago, still today.... Saw them 18 times still got all the ticket stubs.... LOVE THE JAM... from a 56 year old !!!
I'm 58 in 2022 & I think you will be as well, loved the Jam from the early days, yes this is a great version of the song, I love English rose as well, another different from the norm in sound but very a beautiful song all the same!
Paul Weller’s singing just gets better and better. This is a really great version of the song he originally recorded with the Jam all those years ago. The Jam were a great band (maybe the greatest British band) my favouirite still to this day. thank you Noel too for bringing us even more great music and lyrics, truly soul building stuff … thank you for the music, still singing the songs in my head everyday
Hiya m8. I often do my best self t0 drum kit sound affect impression 2 this Ace track ie. The Butterfly Colleter . 4a Jam B side song. It's so fantastic
Quite right m8. I often do my best drum kit sound affect impression 2this gr8 track. I wonder if Paul Weller is a good Chess player like I am. And a big Human League fan. Like I am.
Great intertwining of voices. Noel and Paul together, just sound great. You can see the admiration between them. Not the first song they've done together.
It doesn’t rival the World, it beats it. It just doesn’t get any better than this from two of the greatest songwriters this country has ever produced. Makes me proud to be British.
I wonder if Paul Weller is a good Chess player. I often do my 🥁 kit sound affect impression. 2 this track. And the Human League song the Lebanon.(which l have got signed by the Human League) I really think that Joanne Catherall ♥️ and Susan Sulley ♥️ and Phillip Oakey 2 r Ace. Like Paul Weller.
Not underrated, but he did filled a much needed gap that bothers me since I've heard the original version... after I heard this one, I always complete the other arrangements in my head lol Without it, for me, it sounds like a demo. Plus Weller's vocals are visceral here, something that only time will give you. The original more naive tone Noel covers with ease doing backing vocals...
OH YEAH !!! That's 1 MAJOR mistake I'm sure ur ears & brain r so glad you've rectified. Cant imagine anyone actively ignoring anything Mr Weller creates but out of all his creations THE JAM may be the biggest mistake. Glad to hear ur a MODFATHER disciple.
I saw the Jam on Oct 8th 1977 at the Whiskey in Hollywood Ca, and thought they were great...unfortunately I lost track of them and really never game them or Mr. Weller much thought until these youtube videos with Noel Gallagher. Wow, I'm going to be hitting the Jam/Weller catalog of music hard this year.
Both hugely talented artists in their own right. Two of my favourite. Paul Weller has massive staying power however, has been around for a long time and can adapt will see if Noel can do the same. That is the true test of greatness, the test of time!
When I was a young man we had the Specials and the Jam. We thought they were great but we didn't understands they were legends in the making. Then came the Smiths with Johnny Fucking Marr. Then music became bland and boring until Manchester woke up and the Stone Roses came along followed by Noel and Oasis. How beautiful it was to see Noel with Paul playing one of my favourite songs. Thank you Paul and Noel for making my life better, seriously better because of what you write
As previous stated I was same age when this man was blessed into our laps.and my love for this guys achievement to keep me a life time fan is to me a complete sense of whom I am and come from as I'm sure all Mr Weller fans understand. This is British representation at its best he should be a Sir By now. Regards all bows to Paul Weller ! Taff Jones Pboro
Loved this track, as it was such a contrast to (A) side it was on! Still have it somewhere, Great version of the song, Still like it and listen to it all these years on "79" if i remember rightly
Am with you mate wouldn't it be the absolute bollocks to tear strips off a bird through music Stone Roses are good at it aswell, it also works the other way aswell, Proper love a Indie love song Talking Heads naive melody This Must be the Place
Two brilliant musicians doing an amazing song. One of the most venomous songs written yet it's beautiful melody hides the vitriol behind the words unless you're paying attention. Paul Weller may be an opinionated sod, but he's responsible for so many great songs that he's entitled to think less of others less talented than himself
Weller is the best British singer song writer next to Ray Davis I've followed weller from the Jam.. the style council.. the council collective.. Weller solo. My hero.
I've met my heroes IE the Human League and 5times in Joanne Catheralls case. I think that Paul Weller should definitely get a knighthood 4 his great music. I wonder if Paul Weller is a good Chess player. Like me.
Paul Weller should get a knighthood 4 his great music. Love the Jam track That's Entertainment. Because it reminds me of a good Chess match for Portsmouth B or C team. That I have played in. And a great Human League gig that I have been lucky enough to have seen. And the Butterfly Colleter. Happens to be my favourite B side song by the Jam.
@Lee Davenport 4his gr8 music. 4a example the Jam track That's Entertainment reminds me of a great Human League gig that I have been seen. And m8 I've seen the Human League play live 18times now. And the Jam track That's Entertainment also reminds me of a great Chess match 4 Portsmouth B or C team against another team. That I have played in. That's y
What do you think about the Human League? I am a mega big Human League fan and I think that Paul Weller should definitely do a duet with Joanne Catherall from the Human League. With me doing my best drum kit sound affect impression on the song. I wonder if Paul Weller is a good Chess player like I am.
For a live gig the sound they kick out is fucking quality 2 very talented people Wow typing while it finishes and Andrew Chivers your spot on lad goose bumps it is
I cannot copy and paste what I have to say on EVERY great you tube contribution to my ears! I do not claim to love every genre BUT it saddens me to think that I will leave this mortal earth without hearing (and more pleasurably seeing) it ALL.........................

Two living legends taking one of Weller’s most epic songs to a new high. Just stunning ❤

The Jam were the best band in the fucking world
I was only thinking that the other day. I think his voice has actually got better and deeper as he's aged but the quality is still there.
They both make musical genius look so simple, that's the genius two both musical legends
2 legends singing one of my favourite jam tracks
Hiya m8. I often do my best self t0 drum kit sound affect impression 2 this Ace track ie. The Butterfly Colleter . 4a Jam B side song. It's so fantastic
In a fine english tradition, Paul Weller, a poet of his times. The Jam lyrics, ghosts, english rose, etc… brilliant n timeless. Paul Weller.
Noel and Paul doing butterfly collector......... instant thumbs up.
Quite right m8. I often do my best drum kit sound affect impression 2this gr8 track. I wonder if Paul Weller is a good Chess player like I am. And a big Human League fan. Like I am.
The applause is befitting...to this great music. I want to listen to it again. Both voices are so distinct and yet so well complimenting the other.
Amazing. Still brings shivers.
We should get down and pray to the gods that we have the greatest musicians in the world that can mix and match with each other we are blessed❤❤❤❤
Great intertwining of voices. Noel and Paul together, just sound great. You can see the admiration between them. Not the first song they've done together.
Talk tonight
Two great musicians performing The Butterfly Collector
Best of my era!!!) LOVE it ,what a good time°!!!
Wonderful to see two guys who have serious self egos getting together to appreciate each others telents.
Absolutely class my favourite jam song with ghosts and mr Gallagher brilliant 👏👏👏👏
Awesome love both those guys! The Jam is one of the greatest bands to ever walk the earth props to Noel to "jam" with him :D
Simply sensational. The goose bumps just won't go down.
It doesn’t rival the World, it beats it. It just doesn’t get any better than this from two of the greatest songwriters this country has ever produced. Makes me proud to be British.

Simply awesome from 2 legends 👍
Two of my absolute favorite musicians.
Just found this. Lazy Sunday Afternoon. Absolute class.
what a gem from those Jam days. Brilliant. Must have been quite a thrill for Noel to sing this after growing up listening to The Jam.
Nice Dog
Gem wasn't in the Jam.
Great music value for us to hear from them life goes on lucky enough to be around
Unbelievably fantastic x
Gem Archer, from his corner brings magic
I know Gem from mid 80s in Crook, Co Durham,!
Martin, Gem's A Legend & Quality Guitarist!!! Probably One of the Most Underrated!!! Love him from HS, O, BE & NGHFB!!!
Gem....🤘🤘🤘
And Noel doing his bog standard basic campfire strumming
dermot51 what do you want him to do? Whip out a improvised guitar solo whilst the guitar is behind his head. Wouldn’t really suit the song very much
GEM just fills the gaps perfectly- very underrated guitar player
He is but I prefer Little Barrie playing with Weller
Not underrated, but he did filled a much needed gap that bothers me since I've heard the original version... after I heard this one, I always complete the other arrangements in my head lol
Without it, for me, it sounds like a demo. Plus Weller's vocals are visceral here, something that only time will give you. The original more naive tone Noel covers with ease doing backing vocals...
He was in Oasis. Lol. How is that underrated. Lennon and McCartney were underrated songwriters.
Music touches the soul of our deepest deep and this one is one of those , Thankyou Paul xx
I never much liked The Jam, so I've been ignoring Paul Weller ever since. Big mistake! This is brilliant.
I apologise to the internet.
Go buy Stanley Road and Wild Wood. When I say it will change your life, I mean it will change your life.
Jam the best band 17 he was first time on totp

No one does. No one says they can either.

are you sure? two white dudes with a guitar? that's god and jesus together?
Ceteris Paribus God on the left and the other is just Paul Weller.

Paul Weller - We're All Worthy....sent from sunny Liverpool 🏴 U.K
Perfection
Noel's harmony vocal and guitar takes it up a notch. Weller's masterpiece!
Vocal harmony?? Noel sounds like someone squeezing a dog toy in the background.
I love the percussion, it put the lyrics on the spotlight.
@@AndyMcGeever Oh, come on... even squeeze toys are not atonal
best version of the best song ever .
Flipping fantastic..!
The ultimate Weller put-down: "Your fashion sense is second rate, like your perfume"
But you surely must know the appeal between your legs, has worn off......phew strong lyrics.
@Stoli Blue Great book but this is about a groupie who hung about with the Jam and Weller's contempt for her.

4 amazing musicians.
If it wasn't for the soft percussion of Terry Kirkbride and the infill of Gem on the Gibson, this would be very much reduced!
I didn't think this was about lesser musicians, but about people who sell themselves in one way or another.
Paul has right to talk about tarts & whores and such because they are what pulls society down. If you can't get that- then I feel sorry for you.
Very true. I also think that the contrast between a beautiful gentle title and the meaning of the lyrics also makes it.
@@davidcottam7431the butterfly collector impales his butterflies, it might be an analogy of killing the golden goose
The amazing talent that is Mr Paul Weller.
