I am so glad I got to see Paul Last year..... Very impressed! Paul was coming out on stage, grabbed his guitar then looked at us in the front and said "ok, let's rock", Too Cool... it was like being in a private party with Paul Weller...Too Cool
There where times when it was real music not as today, Paul Weller is one of the best sing/songwriter in my opinion, just litsten to all The Jam songs and Style Council 😉
The Style Council had a few good songs like "My Ever Changing Moods" (The acoustic version), "Long Hot Summer" & "You're The Best Thing" but The Jam was far better.

He sang " to either cut down on gear or the kid's new beer " when it should have been " to either cut down on beer or the kid's new gear ? !! And this is the man that wrote the song !
"A whole streets belief in Sundays roast beef." It doesn't get any more British than that lyric. As a child, I would count down the days till my next roast dinner.
Great song from a great songwriter from a great band. My only gripe, being a diehard jam fan , is this is their most commercial song they ever did, and people of a certain age just associate with billy elliott. I wonder what weller makes of that.
Love how Paul Weller won't get The Jam back togeather spouting nonsense about musically he doesn't go back and blah blah .. Then anytime he does a concert he plays The Jam songs ( And there the ones that get biggest cheers)
Is it me, or is it really annoying when Jools Holland 'honky-tonks' all these British classics. But then I guess, it was 2001. Can''t imagine Weller doing this now.
A song by a talent from a time about a place that people know. Just brilliant.
Talented people who play their instruments and write music.good old days 😘
it just doesn't get any better than this.....brilliant performance by talented people....thank you
One of the few vocalists who sounds better in person. Pure talent 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Paul Weller and Jools Holland...this is talent overload, legends!!

Paul's voice just sounds perfect....
Grew up with The JAM, and so on...
Wow..2 legends bangin it…2022 and still shit hot today makes me smile and tap my feet still!!😊
There's nothing like seeing two legends join each other on stage to play a classic song from a classic era.
I think there is a melancholic poetry to some of Paul Weller's songs such as this song and That's Entertainment in particular.
Love Paul Weller jam the best
Wow that's awesome.
Fantastic stuff - top drawer.
brilliant
And stop apologizing for the things you've never done
'Cause time is short and life is cruel but it's up to us to change
This town called malice
The Jam helped me get off my arse. I was 16 in 1982, saw the jam live. Unemployed in Merseyside, we all went darn south n done ok
You mean Dan Sauf me ole cockney pud

The Style Council were awful. Terrible career choice.
Quite simply the best song ever written!!!
One of the greatest songs of that era- when " punk" went pop, but the lyrics in this song still ring true. ,

Omg I love Paul and Jools together!
The ultimate British song .it should be the working classes national anthem .
True words spoken
This is a brilliant idea
Outstanding Bravo.

Nostalgic song. Miss those days.

My brothers and I singing my mums called Alice with tears running down our faces as she chased us to stop
@2:21 "to either cut down on gear or the kids new beer" - think a lot of us get this line wrong including Paul hahaha
he smiles when he does it
@@andrewrogers4341 Definite joke on himself.
Pure talent .... England’s finest 👌
England? I thought we were British 🇬🇧

Think it was deliberate - parents now on “the gear”, and kids drinking beer
CLASSIC
Who noticed he got the lyrics wrong....you want to cut down on beer or get the kids new beer lol he still is the best
❤❤❤ my life
How to take an emotive song and rip the guts out of it . A classic from The Jam .
"A whole streets belief in Sundays roast beef." It doesn't get any more British than that lyric. As a child, I would count down the days till my next roast dinner.
A hundred lonely housewives clutch empty milk bottles to their hearts ,,, man that's classic
I'm sure I've heard Paul doing this with Noel Gallagher but can't find it anywhere
Just Brilliant Paul ❤

:)
Anyone got the chords for this version?
So either cut down on gear or the kids new beer ? Not how I remember it
Early onset Alzheimer's. Or indifference. Unfortunate if either is the case.
@@QuadMochaMatti Surely the original songwriter can change the lyrics whenever they feel like it.
Did you spot the mistake ?.
So few of these types of musicians left. Just recording singers now. They can't even sing live.

Recommend Noel Gallagher
Should have left the piano off it did nowt for the song, or got Rick wakeman to play it with him
Stopped Golden Brown from reaching number one.
Wayyy 'over-played' by Jools...but hey, its not my show...
Cut down on gear or the kids new beer!!! 😀
He gets beer and gear in the wrong order……. Just saying
Ever notice how most of us oldies can still sing along knowledgably but NOBODY can do that with today's bloomin` rubbish.
Another song ruined by Jools honky tonk.
