I have been sitting here, painting fish with you before going off to bed. When I started, my fish looked like, well not what I wanted them to, but I pressed on and now I have a small area of the sea and fish and stars and sea weed and, well, more than I thought I could have, all on the back of a practice paper from long ago. I think I will reproduce something just like it in my journal tomorrow. Who would have thought I'd get this far? Certainly not me! I love surprises like this :)

It's a bit past 7 am here in sunny California and one of those days that I get to start off without a rush so I was thrilled to see this fun fish painting. I love how their expressions are all so unique. What a difference the eyes and mouth positions make. Some seem to be smiling and others in great thought :) I really love this and am excited to paint this later today. Thank you for explaining why you won't be having music in the background. I always thought it was relaxing and very appropriate selections for each tutorial, but the copyright issue makes sense. Besides, your soft calming voice and story sharing is better than any music background. Arthur looks comfy now. It was a sweet way to end your video.

This was fun and relaxing to paint. Im waiting for it to dry to add the faces, etc. My fish look more like fish after the first few so hopefully so embellishments will help them. :)
Gift from the Sea was written while the author was on Captiva Island,Florida which is adjacent to Sanibel where I have vacationed & collected many shells,it is a magical place
This is fabulous. My Step Niece is having a birthday soon and she loves fish. This will be perfect for her. I am actually having so much fun painting and doodling these little fish. I added bubbles as well & some leafy sea grass. Such fun & a great way to warm up. Also I did manage to find a copy of the book Gift from the sea - 1955 version. I quite enjoy reading it. Thank you again for a lovely tutorial.

Poor Arthur! Hope he recovers soon and avoids the neighbours. My Tom cat is similar in colour to Arthur and has similar problems with the cat over the road.
You cannot get away from the ginger tom problem. He is a hunter par excellence. Frankie, on the other hand, catches moles and sits and watches them dig their way out of captivity!
Hello Diane, These little fish are so relaxing to watch you paint and I am trying a few on scrap paper with various paints I have to compare them. They really are cute! This is exactly what I need, thank you. Have you heard of BEAM paints? Manitoulin Island Ontario Canada. They are handmade from natural products growing there by Indigenous women. Even the pallets are made from recycled tree branches. The packaging is all natural. The colours are absolutely beautiful ! Maybe goggle them and take a gander.

I bought the irridescent medium back when I first heard you talk about it. I haven't even used it. If I'm not mistaken, it can be added to paints to make them irridescent?!

Thanks!! I lived in 3 places - Heritage, Applewood and then Pineridge. After that we moved to Canmore for my husbands work (Fairmont Hotels). I sometimes miss Canada, where do you live?
We have five cats and they were all indoor ones until this summer. The problem was that two of them couldn't take the confinement. One was pulling out his fur (despite our efforts to entertain him) and had made all four of his legs quite bald. The other (the one who just had the fight!) was becoming vicious to everyone, especially us, biting and scratching. So in the end we gradually let them out and those problems have disappeared. I know how risky it is, but I think that on balance it's best for these particular cats. If I lived in a city I would keep my cats indoors (and only keep two!!!)
