Lovely. And a bit whimsical. Years ago, I taught a group of beginners and quickly realized how gentle I needed to be. Two in my class went on to become very good. I still dabble a bit and find your videos enchanting as well as motivating. I will be 81 come September and look forward to painting with you as much as possible.
You’re so welcome Connie and I’m so grateful for your support and enthusiasm xxx
whoa....! gonna have to try this, mine will surely be awful what a GREAT inspiration to try! thank you!
Laying in bed at my dad's house in the middle of the night listening to paint, I found your channel a little bit ago and I love watching you and listening to you. Going through a breakup and you are very healing to hear. Keep on going miss Diane.
I believe this one is absolutely beautiful. I cannot tell you how happy I am that I found you I watch your videos endlessly and then I go to my desk and give it my best try sometime several times but I am enjoying myself. By the way I am 72 years old and I was looking for something to help me get over the anxiety and depression of a stroke that I had 7 months ago, this is it I love it. Thank you so much!
Thank you! So glad you enjoy the videos. Sorry to hear about your recent stroke, it must be a shock and a challenge and I'm very glad to be able to help a little bit in your recovery. Really appreciate you sharing as it helps us a lot too! All the best, Diane xxx
Thakyou for your easy to follow lessons. Love the relaxed style.Took classes 20 years ago and in last year returned to it. Have had fun with dragonflies.
I ran over to see this new upload!!!! Happy Tuesday my friend!!!! Fantastic upload, we always love visiting you and showing support!! Have a great week and see you soon!! So glad you shared this and BIG LIKE and loved the video. Have a great end of week
💗💗 💗💗
Thanks so much for being the first to comment! So glad you enjoyed this and all the other videos you comment on!!❤️❤️😀
Thank you Diane, your painting is beautiful! I love the look of loose watercolour but I over work mine and get discouraged but I still keep trying!! The story you told about the teacher humiliating the student, I thought you were talking about me. I enrolled for a beginners course and after the first lesson I didn’t return because of how she spoke to me. I turned to tutorials on UA-cam after that and thanks to lovely artists like yourself, I am improving. Thank you so much for sharing, your tutorials are always very helpful.
Hi Helen, and so lovely to get your message! I’m really glad you found us and that you’re enjoying following along with some of the paintings that I do. Please don’t ever get discouraged, every painting you do is from the heart and counts ❤️
I’m liking that “patchy” look, will try it myself.
Such a beautiful n delicate painting, Diane. You have a lovely light touch that I dream of having!
I'm definitely going to come back for more of your fabulous tutorials. Thank you very much.

beautiful pansies you are a true inspirer of people with with caring nature and great sense of humour don't quite know what we would do with out you
Hello Diane, thanks to this tutorial, I have finally painted a descent watercolor floral painting. I have a few more details to take care of, but overall, I am pleased with my progress..... all in less than a week. Yay! By the way, thank you for the recommendation of paint brushes. It's a bit more complicated, but I will try to get them. I love companies like this. I hope that he can ship them to the USA as well. Happy Friday to you.
Diane, I absolutely enjoy every video of yours. Thank you. I grew up in a very poor dysfunctional house, my escape was coloring, reading and printing. As a small child I love drawing and my dear grandpa really encouraged me to keep at it. I got many compliments from my art teachers in high school. When I first was with my husbands family his mother made so much fun of me, and my portfolio was destroyed. It was all to discourage me from art, I just wasn't strong enough to carry on with it. For so many years I gave up, my oldest daughter passed away 3 yrs ago and I have used art as therapy for my grief. I have tapped into your channel and really loved the whimsical birds you have done. I am getting so much support from a few good friends to keep relearning. I am on a very tight budget so the watercolor paper is very expensive, I have to be selected on what I work on. Many blessings to you and to all who follow you, such a great group.
God bless you... you're an encouragement to others now... I'm a beginner 69 years old... setbacks... but determined to give it a go... so many viewers are sharing their journey and so many have been a blessing. A California Gramma ♥️
Hi Vee, thanks so much for watching and for sharing your story. So sorry for your recent loss. I’m planning on doing some more birds today. The good thing about that kind of painting is that it doesn’t need very special paper! So glad you found your way in art again - your story is very similar to mine so I feel a kindred spirit with you. Much love, Diane.
Thank you so much for being understanding about beginners and yes that woman that thought she was a artist , was not and so glad she found her art again, bless you you make me feel I can do water color you have help me so much
Pansies are one of my favorite flowers! Great watching you. Hope you have a wonderful day,
Such subtle colours. Absolutely beautiful ❤
Incredibly beautiful! ❤
33:46 Beautiful painting today, Diane. I like the softness very much. Nice to see how that can be done. I rarely paint flowers, preferring instead to paint landscapes or trees, but I'm going to give this a go. Thank you!
I used only to paint landscapes as well, but eventually realised that flower motifs are liberating, as they are very accepting of whatever you want to make them into!
Absolutely beautiful! ❤❤❤
I am working on these pansies. This is one of my favorites. Thank you for be encouraging. I am working on my wet on wet technique...the amount of water. Bleeding colors is beautiful.
I love the sweet little pansies. Thank you for letting us watch your technique. I enjoy your channel so much. I always look forward to your next project. Thank you.
I love wet on wet for flowers and I love pansies! These are so delicate and pretty! I was JUST getting ready to decide what to paint. I usually watch all the way through once and then paint, but I think I may just paint along with it today! Thank you, Diane - I think these WILL be great for cards - the delicate colors as well as bolder colors.
This has to be my favourite painting! Love the delicate petals and colours, exquisite! ❤️
The leaves look easy to do ,shall have a go! Also very pretty, Thanks!
That is a very pretty picture thank you for supporting us
Very pretty!
I love wet on wet! It's so fun to see what the pigment will do. And pansies are the perfect flower to do this with. I love pansies. These will be lovely cards. Thank you my friend.
How beautiful is this, now I have to try this too 😂
This is an incredibly helpful tutorial. Love the flowers and how delicate they are. Colors used are fabulous. Thank you.
Oh these are so pretty Diane 😍
Loved this, cannot wait to try it
So lovely!
Love this pansies are my favorite plant type flower, they make me smile so pretty Diane. Blessings Jo
Very beautiful! Thank you for more ideas and inspiration, and I love pansies.
Hope you and Tamsin had a wonderful time in the UK.
That hurts my heart that an "art tutor" would be so cruel as to ridicule anyone trying to seek out help from them.
I'm sure I would have cried when I left there too.
Whoever you are, you belong here with us.
Beautiful
So happy I found your site Diane,have learned so much from your videos.
Thank you Diane! You’re always so encouraging. I really loved the way my pansies turned out. Your explanation of how to draw them was spot on.❤️❤️
Gorgeous! Your flower tutorials are my favorite and I always wait in anticipation for the next watercolor flower (or nature inspired) lesson with you Dianne. Thank you!
Your pansies are perfect for me today! Spending the day painting while watching you and Judith Dench and Geoffrey Palmer in As Time Goes By” and laughing all the while! I do need work on my pansies. Thank you!❤️
I really enjoyed this tutorial, and like your teaching style. Glad I found your channel. :)
Beautiful! Thank you so much for your wonderful tongue in cheek tutorials, they are so relaxed and I feel I am learning so much from you xx
Diane, I really love your painting of Pansy's, I've been trying to paint Pansy's for some time and your tutorial has shown me where I was going wrong. However, I am still having trouble with my greens. I know in this painting you used turquoise and a grey/green for the leaves, which I love, I still can't get them to look decent. I don't have a tube Turquoise or Quinacridone Gold so maybe this is the problem. But, I have trouble with greens of any colour anyway. By watching your excellent Tutorials I will keep learning. Thank you so much.
Beautiful painting! It's nice to see you back to florals for a change. I love how this looked in the frame. The colors are so delicate and pretty. Oh, Diane, of course you go and buy different brushes after I went and bought the ones you've been using for 20 years LOL! Now I have to get these other ones. ... Kidding!
Ha ha Renée, I knew somebody would say good to see you back in the florals! It would be you wouldn’t it! Don’t worry I am not recommending you go and buy the black brushes - I’ve got them for a trial to see if they were worth changing to but actually I don’t think they are, I still prefer my red ones! But the black ones do look rather smart!
@@DianeAntoneStudio Yeah, I'm not going to buy new brushes. I'll just envy those points from afar :p
It was wonderful doing this tutorial with you today for the day 13 challenge! ❤
I truly loved this painting tutorial, Diane. I want to try this one really soon. You make the sketching look so easy. I have trouble with my sketching skills. In time, I hope it comes along. Thank you for sharing this with your fans.
After following your video, I had much more confidence to attempt something new as you clearly demonstrated mistakes can easily be corrected. Many corrections needed to be made, of course,, but I am becoming much braver. Many thanks, Diane. I so look forward to each of your videos.
PS: love the shaving brush idea!! must get one today!
I love watching you paint!! I am drawn to your color choices! Thank you!!
Really beautiful. I can't wait to try this. I am not an artist, but I've surprised myself watching and following your videos. Thank you.
Brilliant xxx ❤
Oh my goodness this is such a beautiful painting! I absolutely adore it. Thanks so much. BTW I love how sweet and empathetic you were with that poor woman. ❤🥰
Thank you so much! Such as sad story, I really feel for her ... Glad you like the pansies!
❤ I really enjoyed painting along with you… so relaxing…as the wind howls outside. Your story about a woman being picked on in a class…mmmmmm, that’s terrible and I had a similar experience about 10 years ago myself. Needless to say, I didn’t return to that group.
Yes, it happens too often. Some teachers are very arrogant. I do try not to be!
These are so lovely! I am a beginner but I will try these! I like the wet on wet process. I love listening to you! ❤️👩🏻🎨
thank you for another wonderful tutorial. I love to follow along with you. I love the variety of things you paint. You have helped me to find a style I really like.
Thank you Diane and thank you for your words for beginners. Love pansies!
This is really lovely! I find watching your tutorials very relaxing.
Great video! I love your pansies, so delicate. thank you so much!
Lovely pansies, so soft and beautiful. Thanks again for sharing your gift 🙏🙏
Gorgeous and so delicate. Love this.
Thank you so much for sharing your method of drawing pansies! I have always struggled drawing them! I can’t wait to try this! Thanks again Diane!🤗
I love how you explain form in the simplest terms. Circles and triangles for hens, diagonal crosses for dragonflies and now brackets and hearts for pansies. I've been struggling with contour drawing and getting those cats' faces right. You've solved all my problems. Thank you.
I have just subscribed. Wanting to learn more about watercoloring and the “tricks” for acquiring the desired affect, I have watched a few videos, which were somewhat helpful, but this video, along with your explanations and encouragement, are the best I have seen. I am looking forward to watching more and learning more. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!!! ❤️❤️🐸
So I’ve tried this, one on not so good paper the other on 300g and although I’m still very much learning I could see a massive difference in the two. It’s all a learning curve and I’m really enjoying the journey ❤
Thanks for the great step by step tutorial. You have a lovely nice touch to your watercolor painting and I enjoyed seeing how you used contrasting colors to make the petals.
These pansies are gorgeous! As always, it's so enjoyable watching you sketch as you patiently teach your followers how to sketch! The paint colors are perfect and the flowers look so realistic. You final touches take your paintings to the next level in just the perfect way. The slight sprinkling of splatters were just the perfect amount. And...that white frame...now that's the perfect gift! How is it that even seeing and hearing you cut your paper out of the sketchbook with scissors could be so relaxing? But it is! I love cozy, slow moving mornings when I can start the day off with one (or more) of your tutorials. Thank you.
Just beautiful….I too was critically abused at my last art class I went to…..I just packed up my stuff and left in tears…..haven’t painted since…I am so sorry about your divorce…..
Very pretty and delicate! ❤
Thank you! I find your tutorials so very relaxing and approachable!! They have given me much more confidence! :)
So beautiful and delicate! Also thank you for showing us how to draw a pansy. I watch all your videos I can find. It’s like you’ve become a good friend! 😊
Absolutely beautiful 😍
It’s absolutely beautiful ❤️. So much inspiration in this tutorial. Thank you Diane!
Just what I need today! Thank you, Diane❣️
Very pretty!! I love it and can’t wait to give it a try. Thank you for your wonderful tutorials.
This is absolutely beautiful. I love the way you explain the process so clearly and this encourages me to have a go. I have tried a few of your whimsical paintings which some turned out okay.ish and some not so good. 😄 i will keep trying thogh. Thankyou
You can do it! Sorry you were disappointed in some of your other paintings, but things will improve! Just try to relax and let the paint do the work!
Sadly, Drawell site on line has a caution "not a safe site" I tried two. A review said that Australia did sell Drawell but I've searched and can't find any. I'm having trouble with getting a good "pointy" pen and was thrilled when I saw your set.
Hi, I don’t think the Drawell site really is unsafe but if you are nervous why not email him direct? He’ll send you the details. You’ll pay a lot more if you go through a retailer instead of getting them direct from the maker. His email is: maeyama@drawell.co.jp and you are looking for the Series 11-2 golden nylon brushes!
I love your videos. How Can I order the brushes from Japan. The link doesn't seem to work for me in USA.
💖
Well Diane… I have been with you a fairly long time now.
I am presently using my Nephews cell now but my user name is “Lily2019.”
The reason for this info is that I want to tell you that you have helped me realize that painting watercolour does NOT always have to be perfect. I’ve LOVED your style from the beginning. But even better, when you started painting these “fun and easy” lovely little animal creatures, I came to the realization that I could LET GO of my perceived perfection.
So THANK- YOU FOR THAT!!
~~~
Also I will be joining your monthly group soon. 😊
I hope I can buy the paint brushes you showed us… as I live in BC Canada. I need quite a few of the items you use and I am hoping that I’m privy to purchase them too.
THANKYOU MY FRIEND 🥀
Lily 💕
Thanks so much for your lovely message Lily! I’m really happy that you have been so enjoying the videos. It makes it so worthwhile to hear stories like that! I think it’s possible for you to get the Japanese brushes I use by Drawell Brushes - I buy my brushes from this manufacturer in Japan. They will ship readily to anywhere in the world. The prices are in japanese currency but if you send Mr Maeyama an email he will give you prices. The ones I use are Golden Nylon Series 11-2, and I use mostly sizes 7or 9 and 10 and 13. www.drawell.co.jp/english/product.html
Hope this helps and look forward to welcoming you to the group!
Awe… THANK-YOU so much for replying to my text. And sending me ALL the information that I needed. I have to wait for my pay, but I’ll be there for sure. I can’t wait.
And I have a girlfriend that can download or print out anything. Hahaha!
Guess I’ll be asking her for a few favours. 😊 See u soon.
I want to order the brushes you suggest, but on the site, it shows pictures of brushes, but how to choose a size on the page and what is the price . Not written or any box to click on. How do you order from dravell site
You just need to send an email to Mr Maeyami and he will send you the prices. You don’t pay until after receiving the brushes. He can answer any questions you have, he is a very nice man and deals personally with everyone.
Soooo beautiful 😍
I'm 12 years old and I also make painting videos 😊😊
Hi Subhan, I see you are in Pakistan - I hope you are safe from the floods. How is the kitten doing? Have you been able to take him or her to the vet to be wormed? How did you find him? I’m glad you have a little friend, and congratulations on your channel! 😁❤️👍
@@DianeAntoneStudio Thank u for your concern dear ❤️💞
I'm absolutely safe but you are right most of the area of Pakistan has been drowned...😐
I found the kitten infront of my main gate all alone so I decided to rescue her as I love animals😻
I just wondering if I can order them
Hi Phillis, what would you like to order? We can ship paintings worldwide and our sketches are downloadable... the merch (mugs etc) goes direct from the printer.
Hi Diane
Just yesterday I left a comment asking whether UA-cam looks at number of your comments. It was on an old video - so you probably didn’t see the comment. I will add my comments daily - more than five words.
Hi Liz, late answering your comment, so sorry! Yes, UA-cam does look at the number of comments, definitely it makes a difference, they like all kinds of engagement! I really appreciate you taking the time to comment, and I do try to answer everyone but it’s not easy!!! Happy painting though!
Oh, how old can you get .... not a pen, a brush !!!!
Thank you for being a supportive, encouraging teacher. Would not have even attempted watercolour without wonderful artists like you! And these pansies are so lovely - well live and well loved.
