He was loyal to what matters
He wanted to be with Mary so bad but he didn't give up on the gang who raised him
That's not just it. Arthur was the one who saved lily from the one whom she was working for, he left mary twice for her to be safe, saved sadie, saved the german couple, saved jhon and mica from bounty hunters and pinkertons, saved the widow north of anesberg, helped the couple at Braithwaite escape from brothers, donated for the foundation, and so many more
Arthur saved everyone's life except himself 😞😞😔😔
it's called "redemption" for a reason
I kinda have mixed feelings about Arthur: he killed many, many people (even with a high honour playthrough) and that can not be redeemed in a few months but yes most people he helped thought he was a good man.
He killed them because he was manipulated. Until almost chapter 3 end he saw Dutch as an ideal role model who can never be wrong. Once he realised he did honorable acts mostly

I feel like the only 2 times “redemption” is actually in the series is when Arthur did all of this, and when Jack avenged pretty much the whole gang by killing Edgar Ross. (Also am I the only one who can actually smell the environment around the game world. I just imagine a pine smell with a cold buzz to it)
