Anybody who knows bodybuilding knows that this guy definitely ISNT 1.6% bodyfat. This is literal deathbed levels of body fat. Bodybuilders in competition are usually around 4-10% BF but there is a reason why in their offseason they are more like 10-15%. This level of body fat is not sustainable for a long period of time, or isn't healthy for that matter because as mentioned test goes down, hormones are out of whack, you feel extremely fatigued, etc. With that said, it wouldn't make sense why a football player would diet down before a combine. Because dieting down to single-digit levels of body fat will decrease your performance, while in a combine the objective is to be at peak performance. Without a doubt, the guy looks very lean, but definitely not 1.6% body fat. Being 6'3, 227 lbs makes that even more suspicious. I would guess around 10-11%. People don't realize that 10-11% is VERY lean and 6'3 227 lbs at that low body fat is really quite remarkable period. It makes me think that perhaps this number was embellished or that they did this test wrong or that it isn't as accurate as people say it is. @Adrien Perez The typical "he's a (insert profession here) so he can't be wrong" defense. Can't tell you how many times I cringe when somebody says this. As if doctors are incapable of having their own biases, can never be wrong, have missed out on certain points. As if there aren't crazies in the industry from Dr.Oz who literally got called out by the senate for misleading and lying to people, Dr. Jason Fung who pretty much denies what has already been established as pretty much fact. Not implying the Dr is one of those guys in the industry, he is right about the effects of having a dangerously low body fat. However what was quoted was one SINGLE study that showed on AVERAGE it was 2% off from other methods like DEXA. This does NOT mean it couldn't be off by more than that. In fact that same study showed that the Bod Pod could be off by as much as 6%. Other studies show that hair, temperature, moisture significantly affects readings on the Bod Pod by as much as 2-3% on AVERAGE. www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15059287 www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11346675 The study contained in this article which compares DEXA and the Bod Pod also notes that differences were measured as high as 13% BF! Also of note is that the Bod Pod tends to be way less accurate in very lean individuals, such as DK Metcalf. examine.com/nutrition/an-accuracy-thing-measuring-body-fat-percentage/ Bod Pod is also terrible at tracking changes over time. A friend of mine did the Bod Pod 3 times in 3 months. Gained a few lbs and somehow he went from 14%, 14% to 8% BF. I did Bod Pod and DEXA and I got measured as 12% and 16% respectively (the DEXA was probably more accurate IMO). DEXA scans use a 4 compartment model as opposed to a 2 compartment model which the Bod Pod is. Well known in the nutrition/fitness industry as a top researcher in this area, this is James Krieger's conclusion of Bod Pods. He has a masters in Exercise Science and Nutrition, and coaches clients on weight loss management as well. Nah neither of you are. People r completely wrong about their body fat. Contest prep bodybuilders who literally diet down as low as they can to show out as much muscle as they possibly can and they’re at like 4-5 and they are completely unhealthy and that’s the lowest they’re gonna get: Gerald is right. The guy is no lower than 7
Like MOST people will actually feel awful under 10%. Some people can deal with being under 10% for a while lol. Also almost all body fat measurements are very flawed so i dobt believe either of you are 5% based on all that information.
@@MartyNguyen611 it would be interesting to know hot much all the glykolipids that make up your cell membranes amount to in terms of total mass. whatever that is youd have to susbtract as well, which makes a total BF number like that even less realistic, cause youre gonna have fat as a component of all of your cells, even without having any specific "fat cells".
Steven Koja muscle and fat weight the same...but there is no way he can be that low of body fat and still maintain that much muscle mass...pro bodybuilders who are using drugs to get lean are probably 3-4% at the absolute lowest on stage at about 230 ...there’s no way this guy is leaner than them and weighing the same as them and playing a sport as physical as football ...it’s impossible
RuthlessFitness TECHNICALLY, muscle and fat weight the same. 1 pound of fat is the same as 1 pound of muscle. (Obviously). But fat takes up more space, since it is “fluffy”. A pound of muscle is smaller than a pound of fat. This means if you filled up the same area with fat, then with muscle. The muscle would weigh more.
Anyone doubting the accuracy of Bod Pod go look at this study. It's considered the gold standard for body compost testing and research shows if anything it's only ~2% off, even compared to dexa scans and water testing. Yea 1.6 sounds crazy, and I'm sure it's an underestimation. But it's no far enough off to make this still an unhealthy body fat academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/75/3/453/4689336
I don't doubt the Bod Pod. I doubt the human beings recording and reporting the data. I have a strong feeling a decimal place was missed. Just looking at his recent pics, he looks like he has 11.6% body fat. Which would be in line with what he actually looks like visually. Someone messed up when they recorded his data, and another person didn't bother to think critically and question the data. I don't even think it's actually possible to be less than 2-3% and still be alive. Correct me if I'm wrong, you need that much just to be able to make the different components of your cells. Your body's cells are partly made of lipids. At 1.6% body fat, I'm not sure your body would even be able to undergo enough cell division to completely replace it's cells, let alone create energy stores. This reeks of human error, not machine error.
hes like 6% body fat look at bodybuilders they literally have no fat and the lowest they go is 5% i dont inderstand why people think this is possible this is as real as sombody recording a 70 inch vertical

What??? The guy is the most shredded football player ive ever seen. However, yeah the body fat measurement is either a) a measurement mistake or b) a lie told by sports media
'Stamina' is not a scientific term. If he hit you in the face 27 times in 30 seconds and had to rest one hour in order to do it again, he would be exhibiting more stamina in one way and less in another way.

1.6 is extremely low for someone on roids let alone “natural”. There’s no way he’s 1.6 bf that’s unsustainable naturally, and insanely hard to do while on gear
Dorian Yates on stage was 3-4%, and guys will faint on stage too having bodyfat at 4-5% (however that's mostly due to dehydration). Athletes are better off being 6-15% anyway, depending on your and position and sport.
Former boxer David Reid had extremely low body fat. It actually hurt him in the ring. After all, muscle is a form of energy for your body. So, once hit carbs were burned away, the body uses fat storage for energy. Due to Reid having very low body fat, his body was burning away his muscle as the rounds went on. His fatigue was very noticeable. If I remember correctly, he was fast tracked to a title and then retired after about 20 pro fights.
Andrew Fischbach it’s funny honestly cause I always go up and down be 9-12% and a funny thing is I don’t even really put any true effort to it being there. I even have snacks like a couple times a week lol. Idk tbh. However as long as you have the essential fat which is at least 5% your good.
i had below a 4% body fat for years. I just worked out a lot, the doctors told me to stop working out and to eat fatty foods. I really never felt fatigue either, I ran miles commonly and felt fine. mood wise though i was always in a really shitty mood.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4301864/ read the"discussion" portion of the article. Touches on how the bod pod doesn't take into account things like bone density, connective tissues, among other things.
@@tez_foe4382 Of course he is. But this 1.6 nonsense is just not possible. This "doctor" should have his license revoked for even suggesting that this is legit.
I'm not about to get in a spot where I'm calling out the NFL or the doctors monitoring things at the combine to say they are lying or have broken machines. Of course it's practically impossible to be that low and alive, but I'm not the one there running the test and checking it out so that's why the point of the video was to focus on other things. Like how the test is even done and what the dangers are of being low.
Donald Driver apparently got down to 2% body fat during his last year as a Green Bay Packer. You look at pictures of the dude and he was pretty lean so I’d believe it. He was always a lean guy though so my guess would be he was always
During the combine most drills for wide receiver drills are timed, he probably walks around with more body fat but dropping down to 1.6% most definitely helped him shave time off his 40... just something to consider
Smol Keeper bodybuilders have about 3 % body fat the day of competition. It is literally their task to get as low as possible. If it was possible to go below 3% percent, they would.
Very informative really liked the video but like you said and I agree this is just combine thing he’ll adjust it now that its over and he put on a monster performance
Kickboxfanatiker fat cant work without water 💀🤦🏻♂️ If you are dehydrated, the currents in your body will pass through at a slower rate and show an inflated body fat percentage.
True, but the bodpod bases its calculations on density. Dehydrated muscle is denser. Dehydrated fat is denser. So, I’m wondering if it could throw off the calculation if he is severely dehydrated.
If used inaccurately, the BODPOD can be widely inaccurate. I used one for a class in college and I registered at 2.3% when I was at least 12+%. The DEXA scan is by far the gold standard for bodyfat.
I'm very certain that he went on a crazy diet and workout regiment leading up to the NFL draft so that he could test well.. It looks like his BMI during the season is close to 11-12%
the realG not necessarily anyone above 15% barely has his abs showing and can actually have no visible ab definition, I’m in that area and mine are visible but nowhere near a defined 6 pack

It is more about the way he feels rather than what statistics and studies show. Also, the body builder statistics are only focused on people who body build and football players train in a much different way than body builders.
I was once tested with a really low BF%, too by skinfold methods. Yes, I was very scrawny, but when my instructor re-did it, he still warned me about my low percentage because most of them were distributed in my thighs, but it was still nowhere near as ridiculous as 1.6%.
Thank you for busting that shit. Tired of people over exaggerating body fat. The only people that are typically under 10 are body builders in competition shape. And we've seen what that does to their bodies. You can see the freaking inserts on the bone
By the eye test he does’t look close to that low. Some bodybuilder are at 7-8% and you can see each individual muscle, he doesn’t look as shredded as 1% seems. Also (can’t remember name)he was like 3% and died of organ failure. Did they accidentally say 1% instead of 10% or something haha. Great video though as always! Very informal!
I am 100% confident something went wrong. Somebody mentioned the possibility of them overlooking an extra 1 (11.6%), and I believe that to be true. He doesn't even look less than 10% body fat.
He said in an interview that he was training like this for the combine and now he will start encorporating some of the foods that he likes like strawberry milk and cheese into his diet
I wrestled in high school with a guy that had a 2% body fat percentage. He was a 145 that looked like a 160... He needed to get cleared by a cardiologist senior year. We called him African Assassin, he was jamaican, great guy.
He still weighed in at 228. I don't know that he got his body fat down like that solely to look or perform better. He may have wanted to avoid checking in at 230+. It's not common to see a 6'3" 230+ lb WR. More of a smaller TE size.
Yeah, I find that impossible to believe. Still, a 4.33 40-yard dash and 40.5” vertical for a 6’3”, 228-lb. guy are terrifying numbers and 27 reps of 225 lbs. on the bench press is ridiculous for a wide receiver. On average, wide receivers and defensive backs both are about 6’ and 200 lbs. with 36” verticals and the ability to bench press 225 for 15 reps. The only positions that are stronger on average are defensive tackles: nose at 30 reps and 3-technique at 28. This means he’ll be able to shed tackles like crazy. If he’s agile enough, has great hands, and can adjust to the pro game mentally, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him in the Pro Bowl before long. He should be an above-average starter at least. This guy potentially has the strength of a tight end with better agility and straight-line speed than all but the very, very fastest WRs and DBs. The body fat doesn’t matter. This guy is a _beast._ CBS projects him to go 16th overall, but if any cellar-dwellers need a guy who’ll be a sure thing at WR in 2-4 years, they should stay open-minded. The Bills would be wise to look at drafting him with their 6th overall pick. The Cardinals have the 2nd overall pick and may look for a WR who could benefit from being mentored by Larry Fitzgerald while he’s still on the team. If he’s not on the radar of these teams, he will be very soon.
On top of that, he’s got the genes: his dad had a solid NFL career as an offensive lineman (as a side note, that means he’s probably pretty smart), his uncle was a 3x All-Pro and 3x Pro Bowler at KR, and his grandfather was a 1x All-Pro and 3x Pro Bowler at RB.
You should look at CR7s medical exams when he switched to Juventus. For a 34 year old the results are insane! I want to see what a doctor thinks about it and if it’s something he can keep up
Subcutaneous fat (burnable energy storage) and visceral fat (fat that surrounds organs and tissues) are two completely different things. People see that 1.4% and get hyped up over it when most likely it’s measuring just the burnable stuff. DK is definitely very lean however if they added his visceral fat his total would probably be somewhere between 5% and 10%.
People who put these numbers together should definitely clarify whether it’s burnable or total. Then you have people with 20% burnable fat think that by some miracle they have the same body fat as nfl wide receivers and can go ahead and have another slice of pizza or piece of cake.
Brian Shaw who is 420 pounds and has won 4 world strongest man titles has a body fat percentage of about 23-25% range he can also deadlift over 1,000 pounds
Lol it's ok. I should have been more up front about how ridiculous (if not impossible) 1.6 is haha. I never want to call people out with stuff so I kinda hesitate to be controversial, but this was a fair case where I should have been more up front about this even being possible . So it's all fair

It's insulting that they're even claiming 1.6%. He's not even in the ballpark.
Finally someone who knows what they’re talking about, people are so naive and proabably think this guy isn’t even on ped’s
Funny as fuck when mutha fuckas think they know more than a doctor 😂💀. Just stfu bruh lol
You don't even need to know bodybuilding. You just need to know basic human health.
Other studies show that hair, temperature, moisture significantly affects readings on the Bod Pod by as much as 2-3% on AVERAGE.
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15059287
www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/11346675
The study contained in this article which compares DEXA and the Bod Pod also notes that differences were measured as high as 13% BF! Also of note is that the Bod Pod tends to be way less accurate in very lean individuals, such as DK Metcalf.
examine.com/nutrition/an-accuracy-thing-measuring-body-fat-percentage/
Bod Pod is also terrible at tracking changes over time.
An actual researcher rather than a general MD.

If a doctor told you to jump off a cliff because it is better for your health would you do it? You're one of those guys that just blindly follows what anybody says without question because they are a so called professional and incapable of researching a topic, using logic and coming up with your own independent thoughts. Stfu if you have nothing to contribute lmao. I only speak facts here while you just troll and blindly follow whatever anybody has to say.

There are pictures, he looks extremely buff, but I'd say like 5-6%
Muscles weigh a lot which is why he weighs that much, but I still don’t believe the body fat percentage
Yea I agree it doesn't really seem possible but still my point is even if he were 3-5% it might not be best for him long term

But it's no far enough off to make this still an unhealthy body fat
academic.oup.com/ajcn/article/75/3/453/4689336
You put 2010 in the description instead of 2019 btw

Of course it's practically impossible to be that low and alive, but I'm not the one there running the test and checking it out so that's why the point of the video was to focus on other things. Dehydration increases density, which seems like it could throw the test off.
@@ClaytonCausey but muscles are mainly water as well
True, but the bodpod bases its calculations on density. Dehydrated muscle is denser. Dehydrated fat is denser. So, I’m wondering if it could throw off the calculation if he is severely dehydrated.

Jerry Rice was warned one year that his BF was getting dangerously low he was working out super hard at the time. I think a 6% figure was mentioned.
I learned more in 6 minutes than I did in 4 years of high school.
