- Hello stalker, have you ever wondered how large is the Monolith faction ? In this video, we take on the enormous task of counting every monolith fighter in the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. trilogy.

Call of pripyat : Game doesn’t make monolith main antagonists , Monolith are weak and low on people
Clear sky: Monolith only protect they’re territory

Monolith: "Euphoric."
Basically, yes.

Loners : Radiation

The fact that CD and COP have lower numbers in universe make sense too. CS lead a lot of stalkers to the cpp and were caught and brainwashed. So the numbers spike in SOC
Yeah it does make sense.
it feels like you fight 762 Monolith going through the Sarcophagus TWICE for different quests in Anomaly
Maybe, I don't know Anomaly that much to be honest.
@@anomalousdugout9557 its more like 80 Monlithians if all the patches I looted are accurate, which is still a whole hell of a lot
I looted 150 monolith patches just by shutting off the Scorcher and getting to Zaton lol.
@@barkasz6066 and yet you still hardly get any ranks
The loot you get out of that makes you really rich. They can be a huge headache without AP ammo or higher caliber guns.
I spend more time looting them than fighting them.
i cant do this anymore
my backpack is full of monolith loot, the worst enemy in stalker is the self inner looting goblin
Yeah it's tempting to loot as much as you can, but greed is usually not left unpunished by the Zone.
Exactly
walked out of the reactor with several gauss rifles and artefacts for barkeep
The c-conciousness' best defense wasn't the monolith or it's brainwashed soldiers
But it's tempting, tempting loot
I always just crank up my maximum carry weight to 60kg by fiddling with the game files. Typically any fully-kitted stalker of mine ends up with around 46kg at the very least in SOC.
We thank you, oh monolith. For providing this great video for me

here is this madlad that countet them all i have no use for this information but i do respect your comitment
At first I really though it was a crazy idea, but the more I though about it and the more I wanted to know their numbers. I spent so much time on it but it was worth it !
@@anomalousdugout9557 haha yeah i bet you did ! so i guess this is the start of a new series xd make a count for every faction haha :D
Personally, I found these numbers a little lower then I expected. After all, the Monolith is probably the only faction that can constantly grab each and every other group by the balls
or, at least before *main character* shows up
I guess the Monolith have even more troops in other parts of the Zone that the player does not visit. Also, originally they were a normal stalker faction, so their number was probably much lower. The majority of those that you can see in game are stalkers who were brainwashed by the Brain Scorcher, so I think having hundreds of them is already very impressive in that regard.
They have some sort of cloning machine in the cnpp or the generators or even somewhere else in the North.
@@the100radsstalker93 I haven't heard of that, but that definitely seems plausible.
Do you have a source for that?
@@scottm8292 I really am not quite sure, just my theory. The fact that there are shit loads of them with high level equipment just boggles my mind Also, how is recruitment possible when people keep switching off the brain scorcher and more than half of them turn into zombies. It's just impossible.
@@the100radsstalker93 It's a theory which makes sense
I think the dead monolithians found in the south are probably just scouts, send there by C-Con/Charon to keep a eye on the different factions.
They were probably put there by the devs to foreshadown the monolith as at first you don't recognize their uniforms, making you wonder when you will meet them.
Maybe, but remember that they were a faction before their brainwashing. We don't know where their base was or what territories they occupied or frequented.
Keep in mind, that this is the amount of dead Monolithians, not as the faction as a whole. The actual numbers are far larger than 762.
Yes, of course. The goal of the video was to get an idea of the order of magnitude of the faction. Also, there are probably some that I missed or misscounted, so it's an approximation.
they really feel like an ant hive in Shadow of Chernobyl, it's impressive how they show their magnitude with masses of their dead bodies.
judging by clear sky faction sizes the only thing preventing the monolith from wiping the zone is the lack of a command.
@@ShishouDzukiZaManako also the fact they are mostly trying to prevent excursion into the deeper part of the zone if they have like a thousand soldier its nothing comparing to what the Ukraine army could muster to take back the zone but having that amount in high concentration location make it way easier to defend that how the high concentration of them was at the CNPP and managed to resist Operation Monolith
I was not expecting the number of Monolithians to be so low in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat, I also expected them to be more evenly distributed across all 3 games.
Yes it's quite surprising that Shadow of Chernobyl has so much more.
It's probably because when you play you don't do one pass in an area and then be done. In CoP for example I spent tons of hours running around Pripyat killing Monolith but I guess if you did one pass then it's about 100 guys.
I think the reason why SoC has so many monolithians because in stalker clear sky, at the end of the game clear sky members are being brainwashed into monoliths (Maybe all clear sky members)
In SoC,Monolith was at its height,so it's normal for them to have more members.
There's enough to break the durability of most weapons in the end of the game...

This is quite sad actually, that in COP there is not much monolith followers, which, i think, makes game way easier, especially Pripyat location. I was playing on hardest difficulty and somehow managed to stealthy kill everyone at Prometheus Cinema. As an example, i was struggling so hard in SOC, trying to not to die because of snipers and ambushes
Yes, it is no secret that Call of Pripyat is easier than Shadow of Chernobyl and Clear Sky.
That's because Scar, Strelok and other groups of stalkers very much thinned their numbers in the previous games. What you see in CoP is just the remains of what used to be a big faction.
just a military soldiers couldnt kill as many monoliths as strelok or scar those guys are legends, while in call of pryipiat u play a random military soldier ....wouldnt be authentic if he could be as good as strelok or scar, nah man i think they made the game easier on purpose so they could attract more people to play it, but also seriously soc was pretty tough end game. i liked the game but not the end game in soc it was just a little bit to much in my opinion ^^

I think the number of fighters we find in SoC is so high because of the high numbers of Clear Sky fighters when the emission hit. It also could be because the C-Consciousness decided they can't let such a close shave happen again so decided to bump up recruitment. But that's just a guess because we can't revisit some places in SoC, which was present in CS. It is also strange to find Monolith corpses all over the Zone.
Yeah, that's possible. About the corpses, some of them may date from the old days when the monolith faction was not brainwashed yet. They used to be neutral stalkers before they made their trip beyond the scorcher, after which they came back as defenders of the center of the Zone.

You sir are by far the most educated, devoted, passionate and experienced Stalker I've ever come across. I've watched your videos on the hidden stuff locations in the game thinking I knew all of them but no, not even close. People either love Stalker or despise it, probably because of jank and the weirdness of it. I personally have never played something as emersive as the Stalker games before. It's been 10+ years and no other series managed to capture the atmosphere of this, even with the dated graphics. The Zone is so aluring to me, it's a horrible place yet I come back to it every couple of months even though it scares the crap out of me. Stalker isn't an out and out horror game but I swear no game ever got my heart to jump out of my chest like it, my little brother still won't play it because od the trauma it caused him as a kid.
Thank you very much, but I can tell you, there are some stalkers who know even more than me. I did miss a few things in those loot videos.

How many monolithians are there? TOO. DAMN. MANY.
Wow, C-Consciousness really did an astounding job of acquiring that amount of people to fight in its behalf. And just how they even acquire some highly advanced combat equipment that other factions do not?
They did yeah. Rumors say that the Monolith is secretly supplied by corrupt military commanders, but who knows...
It's likely that the real number of Monolith fighters is much higher than this, as there were probably a lot of fighters between games as well.
Yes, definitely true, I just counted what I could count to get a general idea of what their number is !
@@anomalousdugout9557 Of course, this number you counted is probably the size of their faction at all times, which gets progressively smaller after the end of Call of Pripyat.

Wow Hugest faction ever!!😯
Yes, that's right.
I just finished SOC and I have a question. Why is it that the monolith members seem to be stupid? Is the AI flawed or they are programed to work out like that? A lot of times monolith members were right in front of me but they didnt shot me. Sometimes I could be really near but they did not detected me. Is this an error or is intended?
I'm pretty sure this is a bug in their AI. Sometimes, the NPCs can be extremely smart, outflank you and kill you with pinpoint accuracy, and other times, they can be very dumb. It's one of the weird things in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. that players have to deal with.

Wow good dedication! This sadly highlights my gripe with the Stalker games tho, here you are a scavenger getting by looking for artefacts, avoiding anomalies and radiation, looting from old dead bodys, escaping bandits and taking the odd job to kill a mutant. It makes you feel like the zone is bigger than you will ever be and your just a small cog in a big machine. Then (lets use ShOC as an example) you go north and kill hundreds enemies...like I barley kill 50 until the Army warehouse then I become this unstoppable killing machine, it ruined my immersion for the zone. I feel like they thought it was somehow necessary to add in some shooter action ending to keep the player and story interesting like most games. But STALKER isnt what most games are, I was kept interested by the shear strangeness of the zone, not the gunfights.
Some people like the ending sections more than others, but these parts of the games definitely feel weird and kind of out of place. I think it could be an interesting subject for another video, so I'll keep that idea in mind !
I felt like an unstoppable killing machine for about the first 75, after that all my stuff started breaking and I felt pretty helpless and naked. Even bringing extra gear isn't enough sometimes.
@@prind142 Yep, the ending sections are very long and it looks like they have not been designed with item durability in mind. Hopefully there are hidden armors throught the game that can replace yours, for example there is a bulat suit in pripyat, another at the entrance of the power plant, and even an exoskelton inside the sarcophagus. Knowing where these items are really helps with the final hours of the game.

Yes, good.
Of course its 762, if only they all used a 7.62 AK
I don't think combining the numbers between the different games makes sense. That is total number of all monolith soldiers throughout like 5 years. It is same as saying US send million soldiers into Afghanistan... yes over 20 years, but at no point there were more than 100k. Same here - Monolith faction is not 762 members strong at any point in the Stalker history/lore, but that is the total number of casualties "visually confirmed" throughout 5-10 years of fighting. This makes average size of the faction presumed to be ~76-152 members at any given time. Maybe towards 200 members considering not everyone was killed, or found.
I think most telling is CS - that is because they make "last stand" suggesting it was all they had to the last man, or nearly the last man... and that is ~150 members at the time of CS events.
As such Monolith faction size is approximately averaging 150 most of the time.
The 3 games take place on a span of less than a year.
@@anomalousdugout9557 Ok that is fair point. But...
1. considering the "supply" of Monolith is nearly indefinite based on how many stalkers are converted into Monolith by brain scorcher and other means
2. considering that CS is the first in the sequence and killing 150 Monolith caused them to have "last stand" in hospital.
... this still means that at any given time there was couple of hundred of them. It is unlikely (actually impossible) that at any point there were 762 of them around the zone.
So most likely there were 100-200 of Monoliths at any given time, once major battle ensued and most of them got killed CC had made new ones to protect itself.
This sort of makes sense chronologically - there were 150 of them at first and they all got killed by the end of CS, because there was huge influx of various factions and loners at the time, many got turned into Monolith at the end of CS.
Comes to the time of SOC number of monoliths had increased, although it should be noted that largest number in SOC are corpses... so how can you tell they are not the same monoliths who were just killed in CS? Taking that to account we again have ~150-200 actual fighters in Monolith faction.
Finally, the end of SOC CC gets destroyed, basically capping the supply of Monoliths, this is why in COP we only have remains of what Monolith was as members now free from brainwashing roams the zone... that is why less of them exists.
In conclusion... it is still the same there were never 762 of them at any given point, dead bodies are likely double counted and alive ones were likely just turned into Monoliths when previous group died. At the end of CS, the ones we encounter in SOC did not exist yet (else there would be no last stand), and the ones we killed in CS, no longer exist by the time SOC starts.
I guess it depends on definition of "faction strength" in the end. I see it as a "number of people in the faction at any given moment", your definition seems to be more - "number of bodies CC managed to turn into Monolith during the events of OG trilogy".
Its just a game, we don't need to search for a reasonable answer. There are simply as many as the developers need for the game to be challenging.

Monolithians in CoP: praying to horde of scrap.
Me with pkm: *opens doors* Surprise motherfucker! And shoots them
Also Monolithians in CoP: Stil doesn t care and continue praying
:DDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Yes, they can also be seen praying in Shadow of Chernobyl as well, around campfires and in the center of pripyat.
@@anomalousdugout9557 Thanks interesting info
Did you purposely choose that gun because Scar uses that very same weapon? Haha.
No, I used the SA Avanlanche, while Scar uses the Vintar BC. They are quite similar, but still not the same weapon.
@@anomalousdugout9557 I've been playing anomaly lately. What do you think of it?
@@Ming1975 I prefer to not answer that question.
In the lore there is between 1k or 2k
I'm not sure where that is stated in the lore, do you have the exact source ?
@@anomalousdugout9557 I remember that it was in some kind of russian video but unfortunately i cant give you a source because i watched it a long time ago, i dont have russian keyboard and i dont know russian (just looked at the numbers of soldiers)
@@viper6022 Alright so maybe it's best to not consider that info cannon then.
I hate those guys.
Yeah, they are quite annoying, but it would be too easy to get to the center of the Zone if they weren't there.
@@anomalousdugout9557 Yeah I kind of like them too actually :) I love/hate them. Of all the factions I would like to know the most what they are saying during combat, they say it with a bad ass tone.
@@lukasgroot Yes the voice lines are epic. I wish I knew Ukrainian and Russian !
Ты говоришь по-русски? У тебя акцент грубоватый
No, I do not speak Russian.
