the big guy whom to you into his home for fish and chips hes a solid soul man you can just tell. lovely dude.
True! Poor fulla got the diabetes. I hope he is healthy when he progresses with everything for himself & family.
Yes ypu will find most people are living in that area are..I've always found everyone friendly whenever I shopped there specially for the food. I love Maori food, Polynesian foods..mmm can get real yum fried bread from these areas.
You can grab a mad feed from there. People are so friendly

Big ups to the big guy and his missus who welcomed you into their home and fed you fish & chips. Might not mean much to you but that was probably their treat meal for the week. Good humble people.

“People who live in south Auckland would say it’s allgoods and people living outside of south Auckland would say it’s pretty rough” Two different realities. Love it!
As a white dude who works in South Auckland most days, I feel most welcomed by people in this area than anywhere else in Auckland. There are kids who need direction and more focus needs to be on education but these are mainly honest hardworking people
Pretty fun areas to live in, nothing terrible happens to the everyday person unless your affiliated with crime
People say Karaka is the rich place but I live here and nah the school kids are something else 😂
I’ve been to South Auckland many times, it’s not like you walk in there and you’re gonna get shot. It’s just a rougher part of the city with more poverty and where there’s more poverty there’s usually more crime. There are good people there
Hmm. I lived there and couldn’t get out fast enough. Couldn’t pay me to go back. Everyone has different ideas of what’s ok I guess.
I'm favoured, $27K every week! I can now give back to the locals in my community and also support God's work and the church. God bless America.
As a beginner what do I need to do? How can I invest, on which platform? If you know any please share.

Im from Otara. It used to be dangerous but the adults back in the day rallied together to rid gambling and lots of pubs! Thank you Baby boomers and Gen x. I know it wasnt easy ❤❤❤❤

Its about Showing the Love and sharing ONE LOVE.
I grew up there. It’s a low income area, but I felt safe. Nothing compared to crime in parts of Europe and America.
Europe? Until recently European countries were the safest in the world. Gee wonder what happened! 🤔
@@AlbertoGarcia-yb4ih i think you mean north europe
@@Mauri-s8s were there parts of Europe that were crime ridden? Sure, usually those south east that were filed with gyps and juice.
South Auckland is not that bad. Like many others I grew up there. Fairburn primary, Otahuhu and Hillary Colleges. LIved Otara, Mangere East, Otahu, Rewa, Kura. Homeless many times. But today at 50 my life is fancy. I have more than I needed. Family, solid career. Lived and worked in Aussie (ADF) for decades too before coming home to NZ a year back. Over past year I have helped create almost 100 new jobs for people in Northland. Next week my new job takes us to Christchurch. My life is good because i have worked hard not smart. Growing up taught me hard work. All these people need is someone to take a chance on them. People took a chance on me once. I also know some of the people you have interviewed. These are good people. Cool Interview mate.
Facts shout out to the Hokianga
@twirl4968 May you continue to create work for the Brothers and Sisters in Northland. Your story touched my heart.
Prayers up blessings up.
South Auckland is actually AWFUL now. You clearly haven’t lived here for ages. All the 501s are congregating here and the violent mentally ill roam freely here. It’s like an open air mental asylum. Spot the normal folks
@twirl4968 well done!! keep it up bro. you're an inspiration. this is the type of comment i needed to read. i hope you go further with life.
Too much brother twirl
To the woman at the wall , I'm praying for you beautiful, king Jesus has much better plans for your life ❤❤
Well said, I agree 100%. I prayed for her too.
Amen 🙌🏼
What about their culture, ancestors, ideology and mythologies ?. Do you respect culture ?. Because Christianity deems that as heretical paganism, At one point the inquisition office would have burnt them all
@@mpf_agundipsht3619 dawg no one prays to maori gods no more
@mpf_agundipsht3619 There's good and bad in it like most cultures.
Personally, I think culture is in some instances a way to pass on generational curses, pagan practices, witchcraft etc. Culture isn't always a good thing, and people all over the word hold onto ungodly practices in the name of culture but God should come before culture not after it.
when i was 15-16 i was going down the wrong path, the path of quick cash and alotta adrenaline, my older brother found out and gave me advice, he taught me a lot and made me wiser about the things i was doing, he helped me through it all and now i’m self employed makin money the legal way, if my brother wasn’t there for me, i’d either be dead or in jail, glad he was there for me❤️
What kind of business do you have
Omg the bro who went to prison in 2017 I used to go MIT with him in Otara 2015/2016. Used to share his onion soup dip and chips with me chur Michael 😂😂

Wasn't sure what to expect from the video, but it was really good. You told the stories the right way, and showcased the empathy people have, even people with trauma. But most importantly, that in communities like this you have to be the light, not get sucked into the darkness, and keep striving to improve yourself, your whanau and your neighbours
BEAUTIFUL I LOVE MY NEW ZEALAND PEOPLE BAD OR NOT THIS IS OUR WHENUA💜💜💜🫂⚖️☝🏾🙏🏾💪🏾♾️

Nice to see some NZ content, the family you met seem like genuinely nice people & I wish them the best.
Having grown up in South Auckland this video made me sad. The amount of guns that have popped into the scene in just the last 7 or 8 years is crazy, yeah we were all dying from sinnies back in the day but people rarely got shot the way they do now. I'm grateful every day that I managed to make it out and put myself through uni because if I had stayed much longer I'd have ended up another mark on the youth death statistics like some of my mates. You're doing good mahi getting these stories out there bro, keep it up.
Gun violence because of all the bikies that Australia deported back to Nz. Nz’ers are highly influenced by Aussies.. not the good kind. Smh.
What do you do for a living
I never felt unsafe in South Auckland. It was always one of my favorite areas of Auckland when I lived there because people were so lovely and welcoming
Same here. If you got a good head and know how to react, your safe.
they acting like it’s mexico
❤ your the man. Media has painted most of the negative aspects of this town but has vibrant and rich culture of amazing people.
the thing about NZ and the hoods like Otara are that if you a normal guy like Jamie going to Otara the worst thats going to happen to you is you're gonna get harrased by a random homeless guy or stepped out and robbed at worst. The thing is that apart from blatant crimes like ram raids alot of the danger in NZ is more clandestine and aslong as you operate above board you'll probably never witness anything dark or dangerous. but if you step a toe into the under belly then watch out. a lot of people go missing in NZ
Old white westy woman here. Got a flat and a couple of hoods changed my tyre so i could get to kura to clean Mum's place. Not bad people there
I've always admired the way that Maori people more often than not have a little smile going on while they talk.
This has been my experience anyway.
Haha. True that! I'm always told I speak with a smile.....even when times are tough 😊 but it doesn't mean I'm belittling anyone....it just means I'm multitasking 😁
guy at 1:48 is the epitome of that
They'll smile while stealing to
@@Anonymous-mv9bm that's not true! Actually that's really ffn rude! Our people are traditionally known as very giving people. You don't understand where we have come from, what we have had to continue to fight for, to where we are now. If you are living in my country bro, I suggest you learn about the impact of colonisation on indigenous Maori 🤬
@@krsytalball3631 I went to school in Lower Hutt and Maoris stole everything they could even from people they knew and their own friends and classmates for years haha
brother in law worked here for like six years in the chemist. He said he had like five or six cases were someone stole or did something wrong (before 2012) so not so bad in those days. as long as you don't go looking for trouble or walking by yourself with phone out etc.
Mate you putting yourself out there and bringing us these stories of real people and real lives, says a lot about you. I prayer for your work and for the lives you touch.

people try to make nz look so dangerous when it’s not nz is the 4th safest country don’t get me wrong they probably is still shootings and stabbings not as much as liek Sydney or Melbourne
Why is the thumbnail of dayne brajkovich , who is in WA …… lame
You can go to any place in South Africa and it would be more dangerous than Otara.
yes as a New Zealander I had to laugh at the title! anywhere in NZ can be dangerous like most countries these days but would agree that South Africa would be far more so!
Yeah I work with a few sth Africans they laugh at the idea that sth Auckland is dangerous lol

Nowhere near NZ's most dangerous, probably NZ's most understood or misrepresented area.
Grew up in rewa and your probably right. Lot of mental health issues on the Southside unfortunately
The most dangerous thing that happened to me in South auckland was having my shoes taken from my doorstep 😂, quite safe if your not affiliated with anything
Love this. Born and bred in Manurewa and the story coming through that we all need to be told is that there are so many good things coming out of South!
And so many trying to breed positive. "You reap what you plant...let us try to continue planting seeds of positivity"
Love how you went to their house and was eating with them! Bless your heart! Hope your receive all the blessings in the world, you deserve it!!
Had to go to south auckland for a First Lego League competition in school last year, it was honestly a really bad experience. Everything was run down and felt so poor. It didnt feel dangerous, just not safe if it makes sense.
(I am a kiwi btw)
This guys really good doing these interviews. asks good questions and i respectful to everyone. great content mate
Nice one to our Aussie brother for making the video... much love from Nz alwayz.
So nice to have the family welcoming you into their home. So generous and friendly and very nice of you to accept.
Throwing coins at a wall thats how he has fun killed me 😂😂😂
Dunno if I'd call Otara NZ's most dangerous area. There are plenty of other areas that are more risky & it really comes down to whether you live there or are viewing it from the outside looking in.
👍
Good to see some NZ content, Mafi and his family seem like genuinely nice people I wish them all the best. Most of these people may be struggling but have big hearts 💚
Damn wish it was longer! Awesome video bro thanks for coming to south Auckland gutted you didn’t get to see the real hood of mangere lol respect👏🏻
This was so good to watch, great work from both sides of the hoods.

No s**t. Guy in the thumbnail is an ex WA Bikie. Not a kiwi and has nothing to do with the video.
Shit vid! Bet Dayne will be happy. Not!!!
South auckland is no more dangerous than Hamilton, akl city, all over the north island. Tbh. I prefer south Aucklanders to north shore and east Auckland people 😅

I'm South African and South Auckland doesn't seem (emphasis) dangerous. But it all depends on the people living there.
Not the feel safe because theres 2 uso’s in the back😂😂😂😂

I spent a year in NZ and it was the best year of my life so far. The people there (both the maori and pukeha, plus everyone else) were just the best (not the chinese in Aucks though)
I hung around in Northland for 3 months, worked with guys on day release from the prison and got invited to a hangi with their family (me and a hungarian guy I was living with, I'm english) and it was awesome. A completely different way of living over there for a lot of people.

I live in New Zealand I’m 12 but I’m in Queenstown not Auckland but most of my family live in Auckland so I go there a lot and I know that most of the shooting theories are wrong because New Zealand is a chill place and I have never seen anything suspicious
You are more articualate than 80% of the fully grown men in this comment section.
I've lived my entire life in Papatoetoe, the suberb directly next to Otara and although it can be very sketchy at times with literal drug addicts roaming the streets. But for the most part the people are incredibly welcoming and accepting. Being a white person in a predominantly brown area I've never felt discriminated or looked down upon. I've been invited to my islander friends family bingo, participated and led the Samoan group at my primary school and even wrote a speech about South Auckland in general not being as bad as the media says. The place is sketchy is some parts sure, but the people and culture are something no other place in Auckland can come close to and I'm proud to say South Auckland is my home.
New Zealand's 'most dangerous area', is still 1000 times better, and people a 1000 times better, than any mid, average black neighborhood in the US, UK, Canada, or any other nice country they have entrenched in.
4:30 was fuckin hilarious

What is considered 'dangerous' here in New Zealand, is laughed at by visiting peoples/immigrants. Our most serious crimes/prison conditions are nothing compared to 'truly dangerous' regions throughout the world...just saying. All staff had to have 'hand-washing' training (when using the toilet) where I worked! LOL 🤣Otara is definitely a nice place to visit...

It’s tough to see and watch I grew up in that state for 19 years left the country without a qualification to my name nothing come to Australia as broke as I left and now I run a DC massive business in WA and still don’t have one but experience and solid work my family are loving and living as comfortable as ever 2 kids and a wife I believe that anything is possible if you put your mind to it had that gutter mentality since I left
Thanks for showing my country 😂😂😂😂😂
Man, I remember working at the Otara Markets back in 07. Great place. Living down at Papatoetoe and working at the markets just made it easier to know that its dangerous if you meet the wrong people. Apart from that, its an algood place aye. People who live and work outside of Otara/South Auckland are the only ones who say its dangerous.
Title is abit pathetic but good video 🤙
Mt Druit got nothing on Otara. Auckland is the Polynesian capital of the world. Aint no little gs they built like men at 15😂.
