Heyyyy lovelies, In this video I am excited to be using Polymer Clay again. Oven baked at 110° C for 40 mins.
Polymer Clay is Something I do not use often do but would love to do more of. Following on from my last Polymer Clay video and taking on some of your incredible advice I wanted to have another play and do some Polymer Clay Embossing. I am using some Silicone Inlays and some Botanicals to create embossed patterns in the Polymer before adding the Chameleon Powder and UV Resin. The Silicone Inlay embossing was a game changer and elevated my pieces to the next level.

I don't know if anyone has answered this, but, yes, you can sand polymer clay. You can carve it. Paint it. Polish it. Cover objects with it. Put objects in it. (Best use objects that can withstand the heat of baking.) Glitter, pastels, fibers, all sorts of things. I'm not a veteran of polymer clay, but, I do have some experience with it. I love exploring the possibilities.
Thank yoooooo so much ❤️❤️❤️😍😍😍😍
As someone who works with polymer clay, I still learned something from you. Thank you.
Thank you so much ... that means a lot ❤️❤️
Hi Claire! Your enthusiasm is so contagious! 😀 I was like: I want to try that, I want to try that too! And I don't even have polymer clay! 😂😂😂 I love your enthusiasm! And I love the pieces you made. Have a great day! 🙋🏻♂️
Thankyou so much Gabrielle... it really was such a fun project for me to do loved it 🤣🤣😍😍 love that you want to try it even without the tools 🤣🤣
It looks absolutely fantastic.
You do a great job 🔥😍

your videos are very nice too 👍🏻
I don't know anything about polymer clay, but you have inspired me! Your creations are beautiful!
I do love your enthusiasm Claire lol . I think that's why I love Polymer clay so much to start with . You can create something almost instantly. Glad we got to see your clay fun moments and I am sure there will be more to come. Thanks for sharing as always. 😘
Hi Claire great video, can I give you a tip when using your cutters, put you cling film over the top then cut your shape. This will give you like a curved edge, x
Oh wow these are stunning 😍 ✨️ 💖 I love your enthusiasm Claire and when you said 'just don't be like me' you made me giggle 😄 I think we'd all be very happy to be like you 😊
Ohhhhh wow. They are gorgeous. Loving the colours.....mesmerising pieces. 💝🥰
The inlays!!! Yes!!! We just need to look around at what we have and think what can I smoosh in? LOL
I looove them !!! The teal colour 😍😍😍 now I am obsessed as well 😂❤️
Your excitement and enthusiasm are awesome to hear...yep, it's addictive, and lasting, 4 years into it, the clay continues to pull me. It's all I want to do!
Enjoy!!
Yes, Sanding the back by hand or with a rotary tool will do the trick to clean it up.
I want those molds!! They leave great, deep impressions
Thank you for sharing your joy and greetings from california
*drools like Homer Simpson when he sees a doughnut* Gorgeous! I have to give this a go! Thank you so much for sharing! 💖
Please please please do more polymer clay vids!😀. They are beautiful!
The resin really makes those pigments pop 😍 I once swallowed some pigments and felt like I dyed inside 🌈👻
🤣🤣🤣 I was waiting for this haaaaa
O boy 🙄😂
😂😂
Love to see you trying your hand in the polymer clay world, it's addictive isn't it! ☺️☺️☺️
Brilliant Claire, the end result is so beautiful and your excited enthusiasm infectious. I am new to Polymer Clay too (with a small collection of tools and accessories) and so grateful for the fabulous idea. The pieces are all individual because of the random patterns. Especially loved when you added all the different powders. Thanks for sharing the wonderful idea.
Greetings from South Africa
💞💞💞
That looks awesome Claire. Great work.
Gorgeous!!! Love it!!!! 💙💜💙
I love your enthusiasm with polymer clay! I discovered the amazing world of polymer clay during the pandemic thanks to UA-cam recommendations. I have been working with it now for just over a year. The pieces you made in this video are just stunning. Well done! And yes...you most definitely can sand polymer clay. Use wet/dry sand paper working your way through from coarse to fine to get a nice smooth finish.
Oh my goodness!!!! They are just so beautiful! I love them!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thank yoooo Sis xxx
They are beautiful in their indiviual unique way! The colors are gorgeous and the way that they reflect different colors as you turn them is also gorgeous. I believe your ? about sanding was answered. Thank you for showing us yet another way of making clay jewelry. You can never get enough of a beautiful thing!💙💚💜
Those are beautiful 😍
Love it , those powders ! The silicone in lays are good quality
Beautiful thank you for sharing. Enjoy your videos tremendously.
They're gorgeous Claire. Love the druzy ones.
Thank you so much Patricia ❤️❤️❤️
Love them! Am just starting with clay and so excited! Great job😀

Amazing!!!!
Brilliant Claire 💓
Thank yoooo Sharon ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Stunning result Claire. They would make lovely pendants or earrings. 😍
Thank you Yvonne yes they totally would 😍😍😍
To hear that your UV resin cured that fast... Got to have some! Happy you enjoyed your polymer clay introduction. And sorry I have little info on sanding resin but I've seen it done and then top coat of resin added and re-cured. Happy creating!
Beautiful! You should be proud, Claire! Yes, you can sand them down. Clay sands pretty well. Thanks so much for the inspiration of this one. I haven't played with clay in about 25 years, and now I'm really itching to do it again. Thanks for all you do. Happy Creating!!!!
These are gorgeous, Claire! I will have to try polymer clay at some point. Thank you for sharing these with us! You are such a joy to listen to and watch. It’s like being with someone who is discovering the most wonderful thing for the first time. I love your chameleon powder coloring. Many blessings, my lovely creator!
The shimmer from those mica’s, the patterns that you experimented with and the glossiness of the resin all tie together so beautifully. And the live chat was fun as well!
Thank you so so much Kelly I really appreciate you being there too xx
I’m in love!!!! 😍😍😍😍♥️
Thankyoooooo ❤️❤️❤️ so happy with them xxx
Oh em gee squeeeeeeee 😊 they are so beautiful ❤️❤️
C'est vraiment magnifique j'adore les couleurs 👍👏👏👏❤❤❤
Merci Beaucoup ❤️❤️❤️ so glad you like them x I love the colours too xxx
Wow these are amazing. I have polymer clay and all the gear but it’s waiting to be used lol. Now I want to get it out and have a play 🥰
Love love love the pebbles 😘😘😘 especially the second silicone inlays ❤️❤️❤️ i use some detailed beads and charms rolling over my clay to emboss 🤣
I knew you would fall in love with polymer clay...❤️
It really is such a therapeutic craft 😍😍 not that messy ... and easy to do in a small space 😍😍😍
So pretty
These are so fun! The druzy inlay made a fun dragon scale pattern! So cute and creative.
Beautiful, i love the colours of the mica powders on black clay. I think you can sand polymer clay, but you could also spread the resin a lot thinner with a little brush and do several layers? You can control it a lot more then. Thanks for sharing all your amazing ideas xxx
Hi Clair, I am new here and discover now the beautiful things that you can do with polymer clay😍. I will go try this and i think i have a new hobby!! You make a lot of beautiful things and the video's are fun too watch so thank you!!
Have a nice day 🌼
chess pieces/checkers!! glue some squares together. love it!
Hi Claire. I’m still here. Yes you can sand polymer clay. Some techniques include sanding and buffing to get a shine. I’ve just start with polymer clay Journey and loving it x x
I'm new too this craft as well but this looks absolutely beautiful I especially like the botanical one's so cool
Thank yooooo Kelly ❤️❤️❤️
Claire I adore how excited you get by these new crafts, Those mandala embossed ones are wiiiilld 🥰 its so so much fun... those colours... look at this haha xxx
🤣🤣🤣 literally look at this ! Haaaaa so glad you like them .. honestly enjoyed this so much and this UV is the best I've used !
@@ClairesCraftyCorner love your videos totally infectious enthusiasm and really inspiring
@@annadennison1296 thankyooooo Anna ❤️❤️❤️
That what it is about Fun lol. Beautiful beautiful
Thank yooo Melba .. so true ❤️❤️
You can sand poly clay and the resin. So you are Gucci there. Let me suggest that you brush the resin on in layers. That way you can do multiples, and so much less run off.
I don’t know if you have seen people do those bubble 🫧designs where you put soap bubbles on the IV resin then cure it. I do believe that would be your jam.
Ohhhhh thank you so much that is a great tip ... it never occurred to me to brush on in layers 😍 that would make sense .. and yess I just recently saw that .. can't remember where though ... beautiful
@1:57, place two #2 pencils or 2 long handled spoons on either side of your roller in order to get a more consistantly flat roll out. neat project.
@9:04, never mind ;)
This is my first time watching one of your videos and I gotta say, I LOVE your imagination and taste in colors and mediums!!! I have a few tips, if you are interested.
If you are looking to keep the resin a bit more under control there's a few options I can give you.. you could make a coil (or similar) to go around the edge to hold in the UV resin. If you seal up the outside edges, cure it, the fill it then it helps keep it pooled in the middle easier. There's also the hot glue option to create the well but that can get messy so it's not that great an option but it might be faster in some aspects. There's the option of painting the resin on in thinner layers and curing it in between.. or dip and drain it off then cure it.. I think maybe the best option for what you are doing would be to paint on a layer of UV, cure it, then pool up on the top, making sure to go all the way to the edges.
I absolutely can't wait to join you in your journey on this channel and I'm gonna go binge watch a bunch of your videos 💜💜💜 thank you for sharing your creations with us 💜💜💜
I do a lot of mosaics and these would be cool as tiles and then grouted. I will have to try this.
I love all your videos but this one made me very excited 😆 I love polymer clay I find it really relaxing but I haven’t used the powders or resin on them before, I bought the powders a few days ago and have uv resin, guess what I’ll be doing tomorrow on my day off 😬 I can’t wait 😝 xx
Sorry missed the live chat wasn’t home in time. These are lovely, going have a god with these powders this next week. xx
Thank you so much Vivienne xx no worries at all lovely ❤️❤️❤️
Polymer clay is my love medium.
Stunning work Claire 😍😍 Would you consider applying the same technique to silver clay?
Those turned out really cool. I really like the botanical ones as well. I wonder if varnish might be better to cover. I tend to use it or polyurethane now. I have had fits trying to use UV resin over clay. I have had the spill over and mine turned out kinda wonky but some still sold. I tried sanding and cutting etc. It leaves them a bit novice looking in my opinion but I am usually hyper critical of my own stuff anyway. Wonder if maybe taping the sides would work...🤔 I will anxiously read the other comments for a better answer than I am providing. lol. Good luck, they are super cool.
I don't know if anyone mentioned this. If you put the plastic on the clay before cutting, you will get a nice rounded edge. These are beautiful!!!
Yes, you can sand polymer clay - wet sanding (keeps the particulates out of the air). You can also put the silicone or rubber texture down flat on the surface and roll out the clay on top (less slippage). I usually take the finish product, glue it to stiff interfacing and bead around the piece for jewellery.
They are terrific. Check out the clay artist Helen Briel. One thing she would do with those lovely pieces is to glue a little magnet on the back and adding a second one that can be put inside your sweater to attach the brooch without putting holes in your close. And yes you can sand them.
Thank you so much Sherry .. ohhh amazing I will do .. that is such a genius idea 😍😍😍
If you cut the shape out with clingfilm on the clay first youll get a nice neat edge without having to faff about rubbing and all that 😊
Teal is my favourite too. Off to give it a go 😁
Yes you can sand the clay, it goes matt but you can sand/buff or put a new layer of resin on them. The curing in the oven starts the chemical process of polymerisation. It's about the same as you mixing a batch of jesmonite or resin and it heats up while curing. The clay is premixed and needs added heat insted to cure. The longer time in the oven makes the process more thorough and the finished piece more durable.
Ohhhh thankyoooo Mizz .. perfect ! I will do this and could UV the backs too 😍😍
Really enjoyed this video oh and yes just sand the back and add polish or uv resin. :-)
These look stunning!. I didn't say in the video whether you bake the polymer clay before you place the UV resin on though. Just assuming that's the way it would be done. I really need to try this project. Onto the list it goes!!!
I am a PC hobbyist as well - have never pretended to be an artist. I’ve been playing around with PC for the past 20+ years. I’ll never master the expert techniques, but that’s OK for me. Your videos are refreshing❣️
For curing/baking, it is actually advisable to keep them in the oven longer than the recommended time (but never less) - as long as the temperature is correct.
What UV lamp do you use - what power?
Gorgeous. I've only just started with air dry clay and I've used mica powder.seems to work but Ive not had to bake.... Would mica work if baked??
LOVEEEEEEEE THESE! I'm wondering if using rubber stamps would work also for designs?
Yes, rubber stamps work 😀
On no here we go again...these are beautiful! What about some opal glitter mixed in with the translucent polymer clay too!!😂
Oooooooo now that sounds incredible would glitter melt in the oven? Or could mix it with the UV oooo so pretty
@@ClairesCraftyCorner Glitter is usually plastic or glass, I would imagine the plastic glitter could melt and be interesting. Glitter works well in uv resin as long as there isn't too much, need to leave a bit of space to let the light through.
I'm demonstrating craft to the public in Poole Park on the 26th, 3 days after an operation on my hand...any suggestions on what I can do one handed 😂😂😂
@@kareykins good question I can't use either hand at the moment
Some glitter does melt but looks cool really
These are amazing! ❤ Where did you get the druzy texture from?
Yes sand it's back but tape on the backs first will help to, as you can just peel the tape and drips off after you light them
You can sand but also get yourself a pasta machine and then your clay will be even and turn out amazing 😍 but you did pretty good for a newbie
Hi try putting the klingfilm again over your piece, before cutting out your rounds. It will be smoother.
Put the cling wrap over the clay when you use a cutter. It will give you a bezel finish.
After put on mica you have to bake the clay?
Just beautiful💞
FYI I was told by an artist to never bake food in the same oven you bake fimo and super sculpy.
I'm sorry but that person is mistaken 😅 most of us already know it's safe to use clay in our regular kitchen ovens. You don't want food in it at the same time and also give it time to air out after (and certainly don't want to burn your clay in it ofc! ☺️) But it is perfectly safe.
I use oven bags but the clay is non toxic. It does smell a bit tho.
Hi, this is amazing , but what do we can use these pieces for ...any idea ?..
Thankyooo .. my first thoughts would be Buttons, Fridge magnets, earrings, pendants, bangles, brooches and many more things I imagine
Okk thank you
Late to the party but polymer clay is on my list of making… hurry up arm. Loving this … more supplies on my list. Can I ask do we need to listen to all the ads so you get paid? Just want to make sure
❤😮❤
Do you still put them in the oven after the UV ? It says oven bake
Is there a way to make them double-sided?
Yes, embossing folders work good for double sided
Watching your rolling with the HDPE roller, I think the issue in that it's too light and a small diameter, so tends to ridge in the polyclay surface. Try a marble roller made for cold pastry rolling. It's heavier, so does much of the work for you.
Ohhh Niall thank you so much .. thats great advice 🙌🙌🙌
What would happen if you pressed those designs into Jesmonite?
You can use the inlays in a mould ... and pour the jesmonite on works amazing I've done it a few times x pressing them in might just be a tad trickier but possible x
coffee cup coasters??
You can definitely sand polymer clay. I recommend wet sanding. You either fill a dish with water, place your sand paper at the bottom and rub the clay piece against it underwater or soak a sheet of sand paper for a few minutes and use it that way.
Here's a link to the Polymer Clay Tutor's video on sanding. She's a fantastic resource for all your clay questions.

Your pieces turned out gorgeous!
wow Claire these are beautiful I would like to purchase a purple 1 plz, I will email you xx
Thanks Paula ... got it ❤️❤️❤️
Yes you can sand polymer clay. I have successfully done it. However, I’m not a polymer clay artist. I just have fun with it
Don't be in such a hurry, Claire. Crafting takes time and patience. The resin ran off the edge because you were pouring too much on it. Slow down, just put a small circle of resin in the center and "pull" it out to the edges with your toothpick (I think you called it a cocktail stick). Resin is **self-leveling** ... if you pull it to a spot, then it will self level with the rest on top of the item. But if you over-pour it (use too much) it will absolutely pour right over the edge.
With all of that said, those pieces are beautiful - even with the edges kind of "messy". You can actually "fix" that with another coat of resin - but don't pour as much. You can actually do a second coat very very very thin, just make sure you "pull" the resin out to the edge (look at it at different angles under the light, you can see where the resin ends). And remember.... **slow down** .
Yes you can sand polymer clay. Either use Drumal. You are very funny.😅
Hi!
As said below by Beverlybee 1309 you can sand polymer clay but if you're doing much more than one you should wet sand. the particles aren't so good for you, just like resin. Your resin sanding skills should transfer quite nicely.
As your showing your finished products off take your heat gun blow dryer and blow it over the top of them as your filming them and they'll change colors for you. 😊
💔
Why heartbroken?
