I am a living in Singapore for the past 20 years, Singapore is a fantastic country to live and you explain very well about the Singapore development as World Richest country, I appreciate your efforts in making this video. I wish to highlight one more point about Singapore development, in Singapore there is no Corruption which is also one of the main reason for Singapore to attain this place.
I am from Singapore, borned just after Singapore become independent 1965. And you teach me more than I know. Yes, I can feel the development in Singapore everyday: so much activities and changes everyday. But an important factor is also UNITY - everyone must be united for the good of the country. From past remarks made by LKY, he commented that is the most difficult part for India - so many people, so many languages, so many cultures, and independence of states - unity is really hard to achieve. So India really has to work their own strategy for growth.
That's true india is union of nations... not a nation state.. every time a common language or common civil code was tried to be implemented the provinces (nations) inside india revolted and everytime land utilization bills were introduce landloards, farmers revolted... as an indian i feel its better to disperse india into smaller states like europe is now. If slovenia and crotia, germany and austria are different countries... india could be minimum 10-12 nations
@@deepblue3682 ..already india has been partitioned twice....india strength lies in unity of the union of states...seems your advise has some inherent self interest on behalf of certain groups....

What I like about Singaporeans is they are always ready to acknowledge things and learn and eager to assimilate with people still being proud and united with their culture. Singapore is a role model for all nations on earth on how to build a nation as a single community irrespective of so many differences and strictness to be applied wherever its absolutely necessary.
Love this video, great content. As a proud Singaporean my country’s meteoric rise was not an overnight success and it was not based on corruption or any one race only given priority. Yes Singapore is not always perfect, but I am thankful and appreciative to be Singaporean. Likewise for my Indian brothers and sisters, India is such a blessed nation with wonderful resources, young growing population etc. My prayer is for the people in India to be united in thinking of One Nation and not along the lines of religion, race or caste outlook. Stay positive India is rising with a bit more work you will rise even stronger. I love and respect India it’s the country of my birth.
Unity ..yes a pipe dream in India as we have 18 percent muslims who don't believe in nation but only religion. Destructive and unconstructive opposition, anti India urban naxals intellectuals who have penetrated in major institutions like education and media. We have too many fault lines. Thankfully we have strong nationalistic gvt at the center.
Firstly we need to study and access external threats to the country, specially internal contradictory school of thoughts, we know as there are so many, otherwise how come Global Times publish and appeal to Indian students to see how their country is run hiding the atrocities caused to its own people by not allowing freedom of speech and actions and trying to cause agitation ( like the Delhi recent incidents ,causing trouble to Delhitetes itself) in our country via various ngo funding. First we need to set clear objectives about what we want to achieve. And offcoarse the video is very I formative. . I think the IAS officers ( rather nation builders) should come out of their comfort zones via watching this video to do something for this country. 75 years ahve gone these people have not co tributed an iota of work inspite of having enjoying a gala of a lifestyle, but I am.hopeful that alphabet and others are offcoarse working ona lot of technology where the beurocratic roadblocks can be avoided or rather it become invalid, where we need less governance and egoistic govt officers and set clear outcomes for ease of public life. Blockchain is another technology which will transform any county.

Appreciate your research. Having lived and worked in Singapore, as a doctor, I loved it's system and was amazed at the great change it made in such a short time. Singapore is a lesson for all of us.
100% agree that there should be mandatory military service for all Indians (including VIPs and politicians) as it will inculcate a habit of respect, discipline, team work, efficiency and patriotism in the people of the country. The same way that the mindset of a person is important for their personal success, the mindset of the nation is important for the nation's success.
Man,I don't have words to appreciate you about how much deeper analysis and thoughts process you have done to put such an informative and great content with amazing clarity in front of us.Keep doing the great works,🙏🙏
You know the first lesson from this case study, I completely agree with that. A compulsory military training, just to get people disciplined and unite them!!
@@JjJj-wf7xn I think the government was making Military service mandatory for 3 years, in order to save all this money in pensions. I am not sure if this bill has been passed yet
1. Get rid of Congress 2. Get rid of communist party. 3. Wipe out corruption. 4. Be a democratic dictator. These are ways to succeed in India. Have tougher laws.
India is Much more big than Singapore in terms of land , population , Diversity etc.. and this is not a Limitation this is our Power we just need to utilize it properly and manage all things We will make it possible 👊🇮🇳🔥
India can be a super power only when equal oppurtunities are given to everyone. Equality doesn't mean that if a man can lift 50 kgs so should the woman too, equality is what the Pm of Singapore did. He gave benefits to poor irrespective of their religion and built them from scratch. Indians keep fighting on the basis of religion, they keep yelling that their caste is superior but when it comes to reservation they just want to be the first one to get the benefits. Religion, reservation and politics is taking our country backwards and this is not just the fault of the politicians but also the common public who believes them.
India can't make it. Too much corruption, caste & class discrimination, false delusions about own greatness, tortoise-pace bureaucracy, extremely poor infrastructure, bad business ethics, horrible infrastructure, dishonesty in business dealings, incompetent politicians, etc, etc. It's a shit hole, that's why most Indians want to leave India if they have half a chance !
Amazing series, well done! We need to educate and increase the awareness of our often ill informed politicians and bureaucrats across the country, and in northeast India! Thank you Think school, we will follow you closely too.
Wabang Moa I ask Think School presenter ( above ) the following: You've ignored the role of quality education at primary, secondary & university level, in the economic & social development of a nation. In your next video, perhaps you could focus your research on this issue & present a comparison between India's & Singapore's education system.
I have been living in Singapore for past 3 yrs and I must say this is a very detailed case study. Singapore indeed is a world class city/ state/ country and a role model to learn from for the world
@Saltz Hill but singaporeans are descendants of chinese...and what does that 5000 years mean? You cannot even trace 5000 years of your country/state/island whatever and you will point out other nations?
I think the most fascinating thing about Singapore is that people and politicians both really cared about development of the country not because they wanted to show the world but to themselves and the most amazing thing is that even in so many crises, the culture of the country was balanced and influenced in a positive way, which is next to impossible.
No. Make military training right from school mandatory as we had National Cadet Corps. It is not there now. This is the first step. Military camps for NCC should be held in different parts of the country. This will help intermingling of students and a sense of unity between different ethnic groups. Slowly this will change the mind set . Second right from first standard children should take pledge to protect the country and be united. Remove archaic laws immediately. Politicians should never interfere with the working of the govt machinery. They can only supervise the working and if the machinery fails take corrective action. No whimsical actions by the politicians. This should be prohibited by law. Politicians cannot change their affiliation to another party after winning under one banner. It should be a punishable offence. No salary or perqs for politicians. It should be taken care by the respective parties . There should be uniform civil law irrespective of religion caste or creed. The federal structure of the states should be respected and the developed state should be given the rightful share of the taxes. The union govt should subsidize the need of the under developed states . Supreme court should hear cases only pertaining to constitution, interstate disputes and cases which have consequences on the integrity finance and development of the country. Judges should be selected on the basis of merit only. Finance restructure to be done immediately. Wages should be based on unskilled semi skilled and skilled labour. All unproductive labour like govt admin staff should be classified as unskilled and salary should be on par of industrial unskilled labour. All banking system and govt undertaking should be made independent and they should work on the basis of a regular business. No financial help from the govt There should be uniform rules for retirement benefits All govt departments including hospitals should work on business lines no subsidy. Any violation of law should be punished severely. There should be fear to violate the law. Law enforcement agencies should work asper guidelines and should not be working under political pressure. These are some of the reforms that should be done immediately which will take the country forward. Otherwise we will be still be carrying the tag as a developing country even we show development.

I must congratulate you for so succinctly summarizes how Singapore managed to overcome its numerous problems during its nascent nation-building stage. Singapore also learnt from many other developed countries in the earlier days and pick those ideas that will work and tailored them for Singapore's unique problems. China did the same thing and that is why it's economy grew so fast. India, I am sure can also achieve this, hopefully, after seeing your video.
I'm watching this video pretty late but I think it's timeless, which is the best compliment anyone can pay it. So well researched and articulated. It's a delight when facts are presented in a narrative that is engaging and also informative, and this video does both. I also love it when the content has a purpose beyond just stitching information together from different sources (which is also a noble endeavour if it has the right intent). The purpose of this one, is for us as Indians to take a leaf out of this small island nation's almost miraculous turnaround. I enjoyed the frank, factual and apolitical views of the presenter who breaks down the stumbling blocks before India. I wish politicians and bureaucrats who govern this country would pay heed to the advice here. Conscious capitalism is truly the need of the hour. Adversity is the mother of invention and Singapore has proved, that whether it's a person or a country, every tragedy and problem has a hidden opportunity to create something new. I hope India and Indians learn that. Instead of merely continuing the practices followed by our colonial masters - be it communal segregation or putting profits before people - we need to create a new blueprint for our country. The last time we broke away from the past and acted boldly was when we opened up the economy and look how that worked for us! Again, it was adversity that forced us into action. Nationalism isn't blind faith in everything about your country being great. It's about having the courage to admit things we are not good at, learning from those who are doing it better and then working on making it happen. I hope someday soon we will ditch empty words for action and pseudo nationalism for real pride.
Love this chap's energy, content readiness and charm in front of the screen. History, Geo-politics and Economics were taught so poorly in schools. And, now this. Respect!
I stayed in Singapore from 83 to 95 and totally got to experienced the progress.Yes India can exactly be fruitful if only if they are united internally.
What if a specific community doesn't want to change and resist any reform in the name of Anti lsIamic and lsIamophobia?? They block the road for months (over not related issue) in national capital and create perception that they are being targeted. When they refuse to get educate and Breed like PlGs. When the pelt stones on majority community procession.
Unity and service before self should be the motto of all Individuals. Learn from other's mistakes and upgrade yourself. Take tough decisions for welfare of the people. Lee Kuan Yew used to read a lot. So a good reader is a good leader
I am Indian living in Singapore with my family. Its a heaven with 0 crime and 0 corruption. I just dont want to go back to India now. Its developed, lot of greenery and gardens, no pollution no power cuts, no horns and no hoking, no pot holes, lot of play areas for kids (all free), 80% population eats out daily and govt controls the quality of food ,and the list goes on and on I can fill 2 papers on what all I like about Singapore.

Bro just joined your channel yesterday night. I watched atleast 35 videos back to back. Great job bro. I become a fan of your research and way to explain it in simple way. 👏👏
Most important point I liked is govt. should act as profit generating system and directing the profits to social welfare rather than giving subsidies. And of course the unity point also important.
@@JjJj-wf7xn the government in india is far away from concious capatalism. It only wants to sell companies instead of turning home owned corporations profitable by making changes.
Well presented. Late LKY and his team have done a wonderful job creating the Singapore of today. It is more than 7 years since his passing away and so far the legacy he has left for us has served us well with the following written all over it: be united, be progressive, innovate, stay clean, be humble and always be prepared.
Good insights on Singapore. One powerful tool we had was to focus the nation on a simple and clear vision. In 70s it was full employment. In 80s it was Swiss quality of life. In 2000 it has become global city and best home. I think that was smart of them. I wish India success in uniting a very promising country which I have a certain affinity and love for
Last few suggestions were the best part of this video and it surely made my day! Good to know that some people are not simply cribbing but also giving positive suggestions and action plans. You have a long way to go brother! Keep this series alive and best of luck for your YT journey.
Initiating military teaching, importance of unity is of paramount importance especially in this era of social media which divides us on the basis of fake news and un-informed behaviour. Hope this video reaches the govt and immediate action is taken on building up unity and patriotism in India.
Lesson from Singapore: 1. Instilling spirit of unity among young people at early stages through national service army. 2. Communal harmony through mixed housing colony. Preventing communal segregation. 3. Creating jobs through subsidies, easy taxation policy, encouraging export company, foreign investment. 4.Infrastructural investment --road, communication network , ports etc.. 5. Conscious Capitalism
Kudos to you and your team for creating such a wonderful video both in terms of content and presentation. The main learnings were : 1. identifying the key resources - investing in corresponding infrastructure development - ensuring proper maintenance : this can build strong foundations for a prosperous future. 2. rather than holding on to rigid ideologies and classifications, learn to identify the good points on either side and use them as tools for the benefit of people at large. Looking forward to more videos on the #geopoliticalseries.
Education system needs to update... we r spending 25-30% of total lifespan in schools + colleges where we r not getting any practical knowledge... We r starting actual learning after joining a job or starting a business... Things r changing slowly with use of interent but need to boost it...
Great information bro and valuable lesson to be learnt by every citizen.. wish these kind of case studies should be made complusary for all those entering the politics and to our current politicians to value our country resources and utilise and channelise them in the progress of the nation instead of thinking abt progressing their bank accounts.. Great series bro loved how Singapore became from nothing to everything. Indian should learn alot from them to be more united no matter what more the politicians who have no dignity in uplifting the country.
Well done! You got the facts right and also presented it very well. Indeed the secret of Singapore's success is in plain sight. It all seems intuitive in hindsight. Many also dismiss its easy to achieve this in a small place. Can you share your take on some of the following points in your next 'Learnings from Singapore' ? Include the contribution of Education (esp in Primary schools), Meritocracy as a policy, zero tolerance on Corruption across the Board etc. You may like to talk about Penalty for non conformance to law and rules that makes for discipline and living in harmony. Singapore is not perfect - but it tries to be better everyday on all fronts that matter to a common man. India can do all this with zero investment !
Very very informative series. Everything - the country, our daily lives etc, should be run like a business, wherein we embrace growth, make concrete plans, work towards them & generate maximum returns. Also, there should be a school/University/college to qualify as a Politician, wherein they would be given insights into the economy, geography of India & also study & learn from the case studies of different countries. Also, please make a video, on how you do the research to make your videos - this is helpful for me, as sometimes my job requires me to do research - on companies etc etc.
This is how you tackle the differences not by reservation or minority appeasement!! Salute to their leader's vision!! The thought of unity which is ingrained in the schoolhood is one of the best parts!!
You need to study more about Lee Kuan Yew. One of his main tenants of governance was to be fair and provide political and economic Empowerment to minorities. Today there isn't a single minister in the BJP from the minority community. So don't talk of shit that you don't understand

Many years ago one of my relative visited China. He was at a village when the heavy rain had washed away a wooden bridge that was there to enable the people to cross a small rivulet. The day after the rain stopped, the people gathered. Some gathered lumber and chopped down a few trees, many brought their carpentry tools-nails, hammers, saws etc. In three days they had built a bridge to enable children to go to school and workers and farmers to to to their work. He had seen something similar in Kerala. The people were waiting -bitching and lamenting- for the government to come and fix or built a bridge for them.

( above ) the following:
You've ignored the role of quality education at primary, secondary & university level, in the economic & social development of a nation.
@Saltz Hill agree with you, they will not be successful if they don't change their mindset.
The federal structure of the states should be respected and the developed state should be given the
rightful share of the taxes.
No financial help from the govt
There should be uniform rules for retirement benefits
All govt departments including hospitals should work on business lines no subsidy.

Respect!

Initiating military teaching, importance of unity is of paramount importance especially in this era of social media which divides us on the basis of fake news and un-informed behaviour. Hope this video reaches the govt and immediate action is taken on building up unity and patriotism in India.
Lesson from Singapore:
1. Instilling spirit of unity among young people at early stages through national service army.
2. Communal harmony through mixed housing colony. Preventing communal segregation.
3. Creating jobs through subsidies, easy taxation policy, encouraging export company, foreign investment.
4.Infrastructural investment --road, communication network , ports etc..
5. Conscious Capitalism
Its a very good summary I must say. Also add : be honorable and trustworthy

1. identifying the key resources - investing in corresponding infrastructure development - ensuring proper maintenance : this can build strong foundations for a prosperous future.
