Not to mention how citizens respect every job, from business exec to a garbage collector, everyone is paid enough to lead a decen life. I am a Dutch-Singaporean. Although Singapore lags in terms of civil liberties and democratic rights compared to the Netherlands, the leadership of Lee Kuan Yew and his party which led Singapore since 1955, the PAP and the iron fisted clampdown on corruption to provide such a direct rule to keep ministers in line, so they won’t get bribed and disrupt their service to constituents, is why such ruthless governance should be implemented across the world.

Lee Kwan Yew transformed Singapore from a poor country to one of the richest country in the world in 30-40 years through his vision, dedication and strong will while maintaining racial harmony. What he did was even more commendable considering the lack of natural resources (drinking water and agricultural land to grow food) and a small nation area wise. The world needs more Lee Kwan Yew's..
Speechless and emotional at the same time. What he did in his life is the real principle to make a country peaceful and developed. A leader should be educated, polite and very humble. He worked on issues, sorted them with ideas and brought peace to the country. His aim itself was an achievement and then his hardwork made it possible. What an achievement, just wow.
I myself lived in Singapore for 6 years when I was a very young child, between the age of 2 - 8. The education system, public transport, infrastructure(especially Changi Airport), cleanliness and various other things are absolutely commendable.

Actually, many things are there. which is a matter... A Good Leader, supportive Public, and Government officials who believe in "No" to corruption. it may be possible that today if the government takes some strict decision, then many people or the opposition party will start crying and ultimately Nation has to suffer it.

True, but it is very difficult in India for now (It may change with time). It’s still Wild Wild West you could easily loose your job and could die (literally) in some part of the country.
Is this what a dream country looks like? Major respect to Lee Kuan Yew for all these initiatives. He dreamt and made all of them possible, his son is also carrying on the legacy. Hope Singapore keeps prospering the same way with all the upcoming leaders. I also hope i can see my country developing the same way some day with the right leadership.
Important point got missed the first prime minister was a mathematician from Worlds #1 college. When he held the chair first time, he put all top educated people at the all top political positions in Singapore like Top Economist, top scientist, top educationist etc., and then all layers in politics were top educated folks.. Rest everything u said is byproduct of this..

Lee Kwan Yew was a leader who believed that he could bring in this transformation by being accountable and being the single decision maker whilst giving the leeway to all the other stakeholders whether in his government or otherwise to suggest and opine by listening to them. He truly engaged in leadership which was benevolent yet authoritative. It should not be misconstrued as dictatorship or termed so. He was like the CEO who believed in strong governance, had clear chalked out policies, vision, values for his country and the people and knew how to fight all the odds i.e take the bull by it's horns. You would see a similar kind of model in Dubai as well, which is the commercial capital of UAE but yet stands out on the global circuit to challenge Singapore as another Asian hub bcos of it's leadership in the form of HH Sheikh Mohd bin Rashid.

Racial Harmony Day explained at 16:40, the concept is really beautiful, if a kid is raised with such a mindset then peace and harmony in the nation is inevitable and Singapore has achieved that. This is definately what we Indians should learn.
As a non-Singaporean, your info is pretty well-researched I must say. But I have to add. While LKY is the architect of modern Singapore, it's not just his efforts alone. No matter how capable a leader is, he also needs the assistance of other colleagues to help his plans come to fruition. Eg. the late Dr Goh Keng Swee.

He was like the CEO who believed in strong governance, had clear chalked out policies, vision, values for his country and the people and knew how to fight all the odds i.e take the bull by it's horns. Lee was an amazing leader that transformed the country from rags to riches. We need more leaders like him for developing countries to transform themselves. Thank you Dhruv for this video and i admire you immenesly for your unbiased presentation of the history of Singapore. You are my most favorite story teller. I am looking forward to your next video. Have a great day.
I have been there once for a short management course in 2009, and I can say that whatever you have elaborated on here about Singapore is absolutely true! This is the best country I have ever visited in the world! Our country had to learn many things from them!
31:17 “No personality cult…” and here in India….on every damn rice/wheat bag😂😂😂
Dhruv, thank you for sharing the real stories of the real heroes with us. Man you are doing great work.🙌
Racial Harmony Day explained at 16:40, the concept is really beautiful, if a kid is raised with such a mindset then peace and harmony in the nation is inevitable and Singapore has achieved that.
This is definately what we Indians should learn.

We need such leaders in India. 😢

Yes man, Team work is far better then single work. It is an hardwork of everyone in Singapore to make it a developed country.
