I am 79 and would love to get back to painting, I did so in my teens and early 20s, but left my homeland and never did it again. I totally enjoyed watching you go through the step-by-step process, it gave me incentive, to paint again.
Go for it, Joan! :) I"m like you, painted in my youth, then put it aside for work, and now in my later years just getting back into it and having such a great time! Don't hesitate, strike while the inspiration is strong, and don't rob yourself of the opportunity! Happy painting!
I don't think I ever really understood or appreciated Impressionists. Like so many of your emails, my knowledge and appreciation continues to grow. Thank you for sharing. I look forward to more. Mark
A beautiful walk through your gentle hand strokes and the laying of the colour....going back, details considered, and making the painting your own, inspired and yet not copied from another. Love this painting...
Excellent, thank you! Your commentary sounded as if it was directly aimed at me and the questions I had at the time. Really appreciated your insight, and love the painting!
Beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing with us. Your so talented . So generous of you to share . This helps those of us who are new to oils. Thank you
You definitely accomplished your goal, the dancing highlights and beautiful sunny day, so light and airy! I found it engaging and informative to watch you paint. I feel I've learned something about paint handling and feel inspired. Thank you, Dan!
This video is especially helpful to me since I struggle with painting foliage. I now see how I can improve my current work in progress. Thanks for all your videos and training tools. They have made all the difference to my enjoyment of painting as well as improvements in my skill.
Thanks, Dan for the demonstration. I loved how you used the brush and palette knife. You brought sunshine into the scene. Pleased that you started out with the opposite color (red) for the underpainting too. Great little insights!!
Thanks for this video (and all your posts which I often find inspiring and helpful.(I have to say though that you hold the brush so differently from me that it is doing my OCD head in…..)
love the textures and broken colour. I would have liked to know if/when you let the paint dry between sessions, and when these were in the video - I'm presuming the scumbling is over dried paint?
Good morning, Dan. What a beautiful painting. I saw in the magenta flowers painting you used a white ground versus transparent oxide red. I was wondering why. Do you often use white or mostly use a midtone. They are both beautiful paintings.

Beautiful painting! Amazing job!
You make this painting look so easy and beautiful! Zoomed in it looks so messy and as a whole so beautiful and it’s clear of what your painting .

Will you tell me if you are using oil or acrylic paints?
Thank you
Any technique tips on how to not muddy the paint when painting wet on wet? Another comment mentioned this as well. Are you sessions days apart?
I have a hard time not getting caught up in detail .
TKes too long I paint scenes and animals in an hour or less -acrylic
