    Color harmony is a complicated subject. Thanks for this vid . The mixing with white before is a great idea. My plein air paintings are always too dark when they get in a living room light. Is the analogous the only way to get harmony? I usually use a triad with a warm and cool neutral mix of all three as the mother colors. Will this be a harmonious palette? Thanks again. I don't know how you do it all and still have time to paint and eat!

      Thanks Peter, a limited pallet will give you a harmonious painting, the more colors you use the less harmonious. A simple triatic palette is always good.

    Phil, do you use temperature shifts in the shadows? (cool shadows / warm light?--or warm shadows/cool light? --Your videos are wonderful--thanks!

      yes, I can have a cool shadow with shifts within the coolness, same with the warm lights.

    Great video, something that confuses me and maybe you could explain in a video. With harmony, specially with analogous color scheme, how do you have a focal point with colors?

    • @philstarke.artist
      @philstarke.artist  22 дні тому +1

      You can make a focal point stand out with strong value contrast instead of color

    I think with that painting you need darker colours and lighter as this would pull it out more
