I will be making this as well as Mr. Oliver's roasted pumpkin oat smoothie. Does either have only around 7 grams of sugar per serve?

Hey Jamie Oliver - Drinks and Joe Wicks! I'm really excited to try this recipe, but I'm finding it difficult to use the egg whites. Because if it came from a fresh egg I wouldn't know what to do with the yolk since I workout in the morning before going to work, and the cartons have way to much egg whites (the minimum being 320 mL) and it spoils to fast, in 24 or 48 hours, so it only be good for two smoothies and the rest would spoil. Any advice?
How meany calories is in this and protein and carbs please going to gym 4 days a week and would like something for recovery cheers
For those who don't have roommates/family are actually cutting/being healthy and don't want to waste the yolks you can buy pasteurized egg whites in cartons. Much easier than separating the egg whites and is safer than raw egg whites as they are pasteurized.
i found whites from carton makes me .... produce a lot of gas for some reason

+chocho12321 Or just toss in the whole egg. Quick absorption is kind of unnecessary, as long as your body is properly fueled in the first place. Especially of protein.
Egg yolks are extremely nutritious, cannot stand it when people throw them away

gram of protein, protein powder is probably cheaper. I buy from bulk powders. UK based company. Very reasonable. 5Kg of basic whey protein for about £45. One serving is about 30g so I'll let you do the math. A single large egg has about 8g of protein. Without the yolk, maybe 6? Not to certain. Oh and a scoop of the above protein has about 25g of actual protein.
Can you tell me if raw eggs are good ?

Giselle Barrass Honestly. Coming from a fitness guy. Counting calories is terrible. But if you must each glass would be about 250kcal I'd vaguely estimate. I find counting macronutrients far more useful. Far healthier as well. So high fiber carbs are great such as oats, protein is good too, most fruit and nut based fats are very healthy, just watch out for your sat fats (of which this shake probably has no more than 2-3g) and absolutely no trans fats.

Peter Lee After definitely. You don't really want to eat anything for about an hour before a workout. It'll just make you bloated. And a shake so high in protein and sugar and complex carbs is perfect to refuel muscle tissue post workout.
what can I swap the blueberries for?
I don't know why (i do actually) but the phrase 'the king's new clothes' kept repeating in my head when watching this. I'm sure hipsters and would be hipsters everywhere will love this.

Looks really nice, however there's no where near enough protein in that for a post recovery shake. I would call that a breakfast shake. Looks great though!

If you are worried about using fresh raw eggs then you can use pasteurised egg whites as an alternative. You can grab yourself a carton in several large supermarkets! Hope this helps. Weed & Bru pretty sure that would be fattier. And more sugar. Almond milk is only about 2% almond. Rest is water.

+gabb05 Raw egg whites are used in many drinks, like Whiskey Sour, Fizz drinks, or Eggnog. Using raw eggs in cocktails dates back more then a century, and is just added to get a creamy consistency.

+wolfscratch You can't taste it at all. It just makes it slightly thicker, and adds a creamy, airy mouthfeel. I hate cooked eggs, but eat them raw in smoothies all the time.
This is not a good smoothie at all. It will make you feel bloated and tired. And it wont even restore your glycogen stores.
