saw him live in houston. just a dude on a stage with a guitar and drum machine jamming for 4 hours straight. One of the best shows ive ever seen. Even after being a fan for decades when you see him live you still just stand there staring with your jaw hanging open the whole show.
A little backstory on this one, he wrote this song dedicated to his Aunt Suzie who first introduced him to the guitar at a young age. It's probably his most well-known tune (among his ~3000 total) and arguably the greatest rock instrumental ever. Personally I like the studio version much more, but watching Big B perform it is something to behold! I could easily recommend 100 more fantastic Buckethead tracks, but many of them are extraordinarily long. For something of a more reasonable length for reaction purposes, I'd recommend Mount Shasta if you want something beautiful and melodic or Solar Sailcraft for something that rocks hard. He covers the whole spectrum!
I have seen Buckethead 22 times - so far. He is 6 ft 8, robot dances, moonwalks, and gives out toys to people in the front of the stage. His live performances with Primus, Guns ' n Roses, Praxis, and others are amazing. He also played on the Undercova Brother soundtrack with Snoop Dogg and Bootsie Collins and did a cameo in the official video. He did a live performance that is called Buckethead Dueling Banjos but is really just him doing freestyle bluegrass on his KFC Flying V. He's one of the most interesting characters in music history.
I ran into his video on accident, this same one you just reacted to and I was blown away. I must've watched it 50 times. I looked him up afterwards and he wrote this song for his aunt who passed away. She got him his first guitar. He's just incredible and I think he's the greatest guitarist alive today.
Check out "Communicating Through The Stars" and start at 15 min 03 sec. Been a fan of Big B for 20 years and that's my favorite piece of his right now. Enjoy 🙃
@ 5:25 that vibrato is just so damn unbelievable. Everything about him is. Could watch that over and over again. Actually I have lol. I’ve listened to him nonstop since I found him 3 weeks ago. If you haven’t listened to the studio version the emotion is just incredible too.
My son had Buckets "Jordan" on his Guitar Hero". Nearly impossible to play if you're not BH! There is an awesome live version of Jordan at Culture Room. Highly recommend! Buckethead has always played with a mask, the story goes that he has social anxiety. He replaced Slash for a while in GNR, and Ozzy offered him a gig but only if he ditched the Bucket. He didn't. Buckethead is in his 50s now and has had some publicized health issues. I've yet to see him live, but he's on the top of my list if he tours again! My son's list too.
if you look at Pike 13, theres a picture of buckethead in a yellow shirt, hugging another guy, while holding an acoustic spanish classical guitar, and bucket's face is shown on pike 13
It’s so amazing to see videos like this being made in 2023. I truly think if there’s any musician on the planet who deserves to be heard more, it’s Buckethead.
Buckethead es absolutamente fascinante!! Sus canciones me han llevado a un gran viaje por el infinito y definitivamente encabeza el soundtrack de mi vida ❤❤❤❤❤
Buckethead can play any and everything. I love his mellow album s like Coma and Electric Tears, and there is also a great collection of stuff featuring different singers like Les Claypool from Primus, and Serj Tankian from System of a Down. A lot of great music from Buckethead.
I've been into Buckethead since October 11, 2022 and haven't listened to anything else since. His many songs are enough to last a lifetime. He and his diverse music have really engulfed me. He's like a black hole with a lot of light in it. Go listen to him.
Buckethead is definitely a top 100 guitarist. What I like about him is his varied styles. Yeah, he can shred with the best of them, but how about those legato sections. He has a really good feel for when to add slow, lyrical style melodies and when to just shred the hell out of his guitar. The contrasts within a given song are often what make it special. I feel that's one of the things that set Soothsayer apart.
Buckethead doesn't get as much recognition as I think he deserves in terms of how insanely prolific he's been with producing original music, being a technical master, all while also infusing his music with a lot of emotion. From what I've read he's a really weird guy to work with, but not "difficult" in the traditional rock star sense (drugs/booze), more like he wanted to work in a giant chicken coop with rubber chickens with their heads cut off tied to the ceiling and would only talk to band managers through a puppet. Guy's definitely a musical genius, and I'm sure much of his supposed antics are an act/stories made up by him and people he worked with to attribute to the persona he assumes as Buckethead, since he doesn't do a lot in the way of interviews and whatnot. Edit: Les Claypool of Primus also made a "origin story" song about Buckethead...aptly titled "Buckethead" which features a pretty badass solo from the man himself. ua-cam.com/video/lItXAvIjEQ0/v-deo.html
I think you're pretty much spot-on, although I think the alleged antics are, for the most part, real. The dude really is super weird. There's no getting around that. But IMO, that just makes all the more interesting. More importantly, his talents are unmatched. Sure, there are some other guitarists out there who arguably have equal technical skills, but none of them even come close him in terms of compositional quality/quantity. If I could only choose one musical artist to listen to for my remaining days, Buckethead would be a no-brainer.
A great one. I still love the studio version of this song. I've seen Buckethead live 13 times. Buckethead at Mishawaka 2006 and C2B3 2004 at Fillmore Denver are my favorite all time. ✌️
this is one of my favorite songs ever. i was very surprised UA-cam recommended me this but im glad you enjoyed him. hes got a whole lot of....interesting things. check you him playing live with lesclaypool its one hell of a set
legend for sure, his live sets are highly improvised never see the same song twice. I recommend Animal Behavior A++ sound from ace of spades in Sacramento new Years Eve 2017
Fun fact about Buckethead: 1. VERY FEW photos of his face exist. 2. Very few people have seen his face - mostly family. 3. He has only given one interview, EVER, the motivation for which was largely because he was facing a rare heart disease / condition. It was a phone interview, of course. Look it up. 4. The more you look into him, the less you know about him. Its weird.
once you enter bucketheadland, you won't want to leave. he comes on stage, blows your mind, then leaves as quietly as he entered. what other artist hands out gifts to his audience while the audience brings gifts for him. Lets you play the kill switch on his guitar. his music says a lot without him saying a single word.
Hot dawg. My favorite musician to date. There is the obligatory "Jordan", "Ballad of Buckethead" (with Les Claypool on bass), "We Are One" (with Serj Tankian), but there are so many things to pick from. Welcome to Bucketheadland.
Buckethead is just Buckethead. He infamously replaced Slash for one tour with Gun-n-Roses. He auditioned for Ozzie Osborn who was blown away by his playing but evidently Ozzie could not deal with him constantly wearing the bucket and mask. He mostly plays concerts solo with a backing track but will also tour with musicians that considers to be at his level: Les Claypool, George Clinton, and Bernie Worrell come to mind. The man is legendary for his many idiosyncrasies, his incredibly expressive playing, and his prolific output.
The Bucket and mask are so he can have a chance at going outside w/out being mobbed. Few people have seen his face aside from a 25yr. old video clip. Aside from his height and unmistakable vein in his right hand, he's unrecognizable in public.
Another beast of a guitar player (yet not very known) is Mathias IA Eklundh. Extremely talented and veeery weird. His song Amphibians Night Out is both hilarious and brilliant, with weird tempo, strange melody and a toy keybard with animal sounds that I think many parents will imediately recognize. 😅 I can highly recommend checking IA out. 😃
If you truly want to be blown away, check out Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart performing "I'd Rather Go Blind" live in Amsterdam. There's also Joe Bonamassa's PERFECT performance of "Midnight Blues" live at the Beacon Theater. Both are Legendary!!!
Check out the pike series! The rabbit hole goes far and deep 🤣! Buckhead's probably the best guitar player that's still alive in my opinion. He has close to 50 studio albums plus 400 albums released in the last decade!
I agree with you Polo. IMO he's as good as anyone thats ever picked ups a guitar. I think it's a combination of his creativity of course and having those long azz fingers.
If your interested in music like this, the solo guitarist virtuoso, look into Buckethead (Jordan) further of course but also Steve Vai (Teeth of the Hydra), Joe Satriani (Surfing With the Alien), Yngwie Malmsteen (Black Star), and my personal favorite John 5 (Black Widow of La Porte).
I'm so glad you were quiet during this solo. To interrupt as you, and all others, do would have been a travesty during this song. Letting people listen to it all the way through is to get them to the essence of Buckethead's genius. Most definitely a journey of inspiration. Thank you.
He has does some awesome stuff with Les Claypool from Primus. Amazing guitarist. Pretty much the only person I've seen use a kill switch on the guitar as a main feature.
Just want to say thanks for watching my crazy reactions! If you enjoy what I do on this channel consider supporting me. 70% of my videos are not monetized. Buckethead is a legend
A mad twisted lunatic of a legend.
But a legend nevertheless.
Word
Off topic, but I’m combining a couple passions (Buckethead and Halloween) and building an animated Buckethead Halloween prop to scare the kiddos.
Buckethead is God. God is Buckethead.

😉
@@stewpot6998 Hell yeah! Celery is a classic, I love that one. But 29 minutes might be a big ask for a reaction video LOL!
he has the talent to play his studio songs even better on stage, but with soothsayer i have to admit that i like the studio version best
@@stewpot6998look up there is a little bit shorter 😂
It’s drives deeper every time I listen, really listen, to this… this song, tune, collection of frequencies… what ever Buckethead is…
I absolutely love that people are still discovering Buckethead these days... He is a Legend and I want to see his show one day so badly!!!!!
I have seen Buckethead 22 times - so far. He is 6 ft 8, robot dances, moonwalks, and gives out toys to people in the front of the stage. Unfortunately he isn't giving out toys nor letting the audience play his Killswitch on this current tour.

Massively talented, massively entertaining, and a massive catalog. I will ALWAYS listen to Buckethead....

We love him be kind.
Buckethead is on the Mount Rushmore of GOAT Rock Guitarists ever!
Buckethead is life!!!
😃
One off the greatest songs of all time
" Shtick works if you can back it up , and Brian can back it up and some "
His vibrato is controlled chaos ! Legend 🔥🔥
I've been into Buckethead since October 11, 2022 and haven't listened to anything else since. His many songs are enough to last a lifetime. He and his diverse music have really engulfed me. He's like a black hole with a lot of light in it. Go listen to him.

Makes the hair on the back of my head stand up and I'm bald.

Like a giant spider running up and down the neck.. i love king bucket 🇬🇧
He has a massive archive.
Saw Buckethead recently. May I highly suggest you go see him if he's in your area! Such an amazing performer.
He is a complete beast lots of crazy tunes
Buckethead has 47 studio albums and 388 extended plays. Not even joking.
Basically, he's got 350+ albums of original material plus about 80 live compilations (just added in the past 3-1/2 months!)
The problem with citing a number like this is that he'll have another EP or two by the end of the month...
@@RaymondBCrisp He'll have 3 EP's completed in the time it took me to write this comment.
A great one. I still love the studio version of this song.
I've seen Buckethead live 13 times. Buckethead at Mishawaka 2006 and C2B3 2004 at Fillmore Denver are my favorite all time. ✌️
Legend has it, Buckethead melted his own face from his first ever solo and it was reforged in plastic.
“Nottingham Lace” is a great Bucket Head tune worth checking out 👍
This was my first Buckethead song too! I'm amazed how this guy isn't constantly listed as one of the best guitar players to ever live
He's almost anonymous. Underground. But he is without doubt one of the most brilliant guitarists ever. I love Steve Vai, but this guy is a genius
Steve Vai.. 100% . Tender Surrender, or Love of God with the orchestra is reaction vid gold 🤘😁
Please react to: The Mars Volta - Cygnus Viismund Cygnus
The best part about going to a Bucket head show is watching all the crowd watch him play.😮
Buckethead gives us a blank canvas and all the paint we need to create your own picture... and he gives us the soundtrack too.
Got to see him with Les Claypool of Primus.
I respect Buckethead immensely for not showing his face.
This song is amazing 😍😍😍
If you like this tune, you might wanna checkout his Electric Sea album.

He is all I listen to. My liege.
Thank you for this. It’s kind of his take on Eddie Hazel’s maggot brain jam.
He actually performs Maggot Brain with Lilly Hayden and Praxis. Awesome. It's on YT.
Brain the drummer tears it up too.
I love that younger people are reacting to Big B but every one I've come across is a reaction of Soothsayer. He does have almost 700 albums guys...
Buckethead totally fucking rocks!
Fun fact about Buckethead:

Do buckethead look up there, the best thing I've ever listened, that song makes my goose bumping very hard
Jordan is probably his best known song.
If Jimmy ,and B.H. we're in the same time period? They would say the other is greater player . That's how cool they are !
Satisfying to watch 👌

There is a better live version of Soothsayer out there. Whitewash is another need to watch Buckethead song. He is the master of strings.
