Anyone that reacts to Buckethead gets an instant sub. In my little corner of this planet, he is far and away the greatest guitarist up to this point in history. The connection this man has with that guitar is ridiculous. Stories are told within his playing yet no words are ever uttered. This man is special.

The guitar he plays is actually a baritone Gibson Les Paul strung with 10's and tuned to E standard. This gives it a piercing quality with his custom ceramic pickups. He's so big, a baritone scale length guitar looks small, lmao.

Shawn Lane is one of Buckethead's biggest influences. I was sent a picture by Shawn's mother on what would have been Shawn's 50th birthday, of Buckethead carrying a sign at a live performance paying respects to Shawn while he was playing Memphis (Shawn's hometown).

Jordan, Pike 65 (Hold me forever), Aunt Suzie, Sail on Soothayer are some of my favourites but you really can't go wrong, everything he does is worth a listen. He must have almost 700 Pikes recorded by now and he playes everything from Bluegrass to Metal. He's name is Brian Carroll.

People used to think he was paul Gilbert with a mask on...they both have similar style, both from long Beach, both 6'6" tall,,,,a friend of mine met them both and said they weren't the same guy...then a few years ago he was interviewed for the first time,,,his name is Brian

Paul Gilbert is about 6'3" and Buckethead is slightly over 6'7". I have met them both and have met them both again in the same room together. I'm 6'5" and Buckethead is slightly taller than me and Paul Gilbert is slightly shorter than me. Took a Paul Gilbert masterclass a few years ago... it will go down as one of my greatest experiences ever; to say I have actually jammed with Paul Gilbert.

Brian Carrol is his real name. He graduated outta Musician's Institute GIT i grad outta there too. He's a bigfoot like legend there lol! Everyone that goes there goes in as solid guitarists and graduate as versatile musicians not guitarists but musicians. He had a stint with Guns N Roses and as a life long fan of GNR since '87 im not ashamed to say i really liked his live on stage work with them. I loved his duet with Robin covering Christina Aguilerra's Beautiful at the Rock In Rio 3 back in 2001. I love how at the ending of Paradise City all 3 guitarists swap leads back and forth of course Head is shredding his balls loose floppy and jangley just like the ending of November Rain lol! I highly suggest watching Rock In Rio 3 the whole concert is on here. I think u will really like it. Also contrast the songs pre Richard Fortus and with Richard Fortus especially Madagascar it'll amaze u.

A bit of info for you Buckethead is a really big guy 6.5 or 6.6 feet tall so he uses a baritone guitar which is 3 or 4 inches longer 28.5 scale, he also has due to his size what used to be called piano hands meaning he has long palms and very long fingers hence the baritone guitar. which helps with the crazy stretches he can do.

    • @setonhillstudios

That’s good to know! I noticed how big his hands were, he was all over that fretboard which normally feels inaccessible in a Les Paul!

Great reaction to a great guitarist, the best IMHO. You teased out some things like with the wah pedal that others miss. Kudos! To really hear Buckethead shred and crank out mega riffs, try some of the longer tracks: Wallslide (will literally cause you to slide down the wall as your face melts), Coats of Claude, and Eerie Canal are great places to start. Wah pedal work in Eerie Canal is amazing.

Buckethead has over 500 albums/pikes (30 min tracks)
He's worried that masking buckets and team has 19 he's now 54 no one has a picture of Buckethead no one knows what he looks like.
But he was too shy to play live and his friend suggested him wearing one of his masks and playing and that's what he's been doing ever since.
    Jorden live version
Anything live since it's a reaction channel but he has so much great music.

""I had just seen Halloween IV", he recalls of a dark night in 1989, "and as soon as it was over I went into a store across the street and said 'Do you have any Michael Myers masks?' They had a white mask, which really wasn't like a Michael Myers mask, but I liked it a lot. That night I was eating chicken out of a bucket that my dad brought home. It wasn't a Kentucky Fried Chicken bucket either. It said "Deli Chicken" on the outside. I was eating it, and I put the mask on and then the bucket on my head. I went to the mirror. I just said 'Buckethead. That's Buckethead right there.' It was just one of those things. After that, I wanted to be that thing all the time.""
That`s the story told by Brian himself. He invented the Buckethead persona, not one of his friends...

Buckethead is one of my favorite guitarists but this song, in my opinion, isn't one of his better ones. The composition itself is rather bland and redundant. My favorite Buckethead songs are more melodic and emotional. For Mom, Lone Sal Bug, Big D's Touch are great examples.
Buckethead is a riff machine. Check out the album Pike 225 in your free time. It's nonstop riff after riff.
