    That's what's great about a 4 door diesel truck when It gets cold fire her up and let it idle and sleep 2 comfortable no problem. One in front and one in back. I do this quite often at off road events when it gets too cold for tent camping 🖒

    My cousin and I took Route 66 last August for 10 days in his 08 JK unlimited all the way from Santa Monica back up to Chicago (the real old Route 66) Williams Arizona was the quintessential route66 town, the roads were horrible, we got lost in the Mohave desert after a blown out bridge made us go down in a canyon and almost died, Slept in teepees... It was awesome, never NEVER would have made it back in a car, washed out roads wild dogs and horses it was the best trip of my life. HIGHLY recommend you guys stick with it! We downloaded an app to take the original route ... Let me know when you get to OHIO! I already looked up the highest spot to meet you guys! I've got a 95 YJ with a VW TDI in it and an old 76 Willys Mitsubishi diesel J54! Shouldn't have trouble finding ya!!! I want that BUCKLE!!!!!:) and meeting you guys would be AWESOME!!!! Keep it up!!!!

    Really Roman?, coming from Colorado you complain about New Mexico cold! Ever heard of long johns and bag liners? When you talk about Rt.66, you have to talk about which route, ALWAYS! Glad you had fun! Wheeler Peak, ,N.M. highest pt. 13,159ft. elev.. There is lots more great off road in N.M.. Thank you for finally visiting.

    Great video guys... I'm a big fan, one thing I noticed is that you guy didn't deflated the tires to ensure better grip and prevent punctures!!! I'm a U.S. Expat living in Australia... Your videos bring joy and memories of my old stumping grounds of Arizona, California and New Mexico!!!

    • @NathanDAdlen
      @NathanDAdlen 9 років тому +1

      Carlos Fortuna Hi Carlos. Yep, we opted to keep the tires at their regular levels. Anything more challenging than that, we would have aired down 10 psi or so. We were on a tight schedule and had to drive 200 miles directly after filming. Still, it would have been a smarter plan to air down. Thanks for watching and g'day!

    Wouldn't a Rubicon two-door technically be MORE off-road worthy than the Unlimited version, since it's lighter, smaller, more maneuverable and has a better breakover?

    • @blurglide
      @blurglide 6 років тому

      In tight spots, yes, but for climbing something really steep, the longer wheelbase is actually preferable. It also allows a bigger lift without getting too extreme on your drivline angles. For tight turns and not scraping your belly though, you're right that a shorter vehicle is better. Just not better at everything

      The buckle is definitely gone, sad no one sent TFL confirmation. I was just there today, figured it was gone but wanted to make the trip anyway. Had the video with me and was standing in the exact same spot. Great trail though for the history and the views there are two different paths you can take once you are halfway up. I took one up and the other down. It is not a very difficult trail but I would not take anything stock up it besides certain trail ready productions like a JK or FJ cruiser. I have an XJ with a 3" lift and 33s. The hardest sections are not shown in the video.

      We get this comment a lot but before you get too confident about the degree of difficulty we would suggest you take you car up a hill pulling a 1200 pound trailer and see how easy it, or not, it really is.

    • @landrover971
      @landrover971 9 років тому +1

      I've done it... steeper hill and heavier weight... 800 kgs (1600 poud) that's why I feel disappointed.... I know you can get a lot more from that Jeep.... and I want to see the that.... The Fast Lane Car I know I'm not the only one waiting to see one real off road test...

    • @SmokeytheJeep
      @SmokeytheJeep 9 років тому +2

      Respectfully, guys, he's right. I'll give you the added difficulty of towing the trailer off-road, but that was not even a moderate trail for a Jeep, especially a 10A Rubi. There was no reason to activate the lockers, which should only be used to clear specific obstacles, anyway. Running an entire trail locked like that can break some very nice, expensive parts.
