Today on the channel we review what we think is the best budget option for car camping or sleeping in your Jeep - the DeepSleep4Jeeps mattress. The mattress is designed to fit specifically in your JK or JL Wrangler Unlimited. For under $300, you can have a pretty awesome sleeping situation anywhere you can navigate your Jeep to. It does have its downfalls, it's probably not as good for overlanding as a full on roof top tent setup, but honestly, for the money, you can't beat this car camping setup!

This is the right idea. I was overlanding a long time ago; before rooftop tents were a thing. This method holds heat better, is more secure, less condensation. I used a Jeep ZJ and there was plenty of room. The new wranglers are equally roomy.
People think they need all this gear. I know people who backpacked the entire Appalachian trail for months. Most overlanding gear is unnecessary.

I have this mattress in my JL, two person camping its great, for packing up your bedding, just de-flate it, folder it over and then if you have to sleep another night its so much faster to get ready for the next night! By far my MOST FAV camping hack for off grid camping

You may be abe to add a roof rack for about $200 or so and something to put your cargo there, that should be a good alternative to a Roof tent. which would be somewhere around $2k-$4k.
Whenever we camp in our jeep, we wedge the cooler between the two front seats. It rests on the centre console. Just a thought!
In a pinch not bad, but would much prefer a tent. At least it gives you an option

There has to be a mod for the front seats to either pull forward & lean forward all the way (if there is I couldn’t find it) that would give you so much more space.
I am also looking for one. There is got to be a way to find the front seats so people could sleep in a gladiator. If the front seat was foldable. If anyone knows of a way to make the front seat fold forward, please let me know.

Any idea how it does with dogs? Is it thick enough protection on the top your dogs claws won't puncture it?
We have two small dogs, so something like this would be perfect for truck stop layovers on those long road trips.
We’ve had our dogs on it with no issues but we’ve had a blanket down or whatever. It’s not remarkably thick but it does the job 🤷🏻♂️
What's the length if you don't push the front seats back? Trying to compare to my ZJ which is great for sleeping for a less than 6 foot person without moving the front seats forward every night.

I believe the overland cloth but we didn’t have that option back when we ordered

Where do you put your stuff? When I go camping I have stuff. So I'm curious where you put it. Do you put it outside? Front Seat etc?
That’s the issue, it usually ends up under the jeep!

So how do you get out? You can’t open the tailgate from the inside as far as I know

We’ve had it for a year and a half or so but haven’t used it a ton, it is still holding up though.
