Just want to say as someone who’s been lurking your channel/discord since January, when I learned about this hobby, I’m worried about my future and my wallet watching your videos. Also i love the philosophy of not letting a shelf of shame stress you out.. i feel that way about my own collection and i think the joy of finding new games to add to the collection is way greater than whatever 'shame' i may feel about having some unplayed games because i know they'll get played eventually!

One of my New Year's resolutions this year was to get lots of games off my SoS. I'm somewhere around 40 games off the list for the year; no idea how many are left, but I THINK it's less than 100. Getting there, little by little.

Oh man, you’ve got Bring Your Own Book! That’s one of the best party games we play with my family. The weirder the book the better but you’d be surprised at how much you can twist out of context in a pretty mundane book. So much fun. Also, one you could super easily play over video call of some kind. You could very well play this with tablenauts and it would be funny
We hope to get it played eventually!!
Sounds like my shelf of opportunity, lol. Just got mechs vs. minions off our shelf of opportunity today. Good fun coop game that is really easy to table. This is one you can easily get off your list and enjoy.

Games that I'd just love to get your opinion on: My Father's Work, Vast: Mysterious Manor, the Exit games (we love Unlock, and just haven't gotten a desire to dive into that other series), War of the Ring, Star Trek: Ascendency, Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Maul Peak, The Stuff of Legend
Games that I love that I'd love to see you dive into and experience: Fury of Dracula, Imperium: Classics
And would definitely love to see a Button Shy day (a lot of the ones you haven't played yet are ones I've been on the fence about getting), plus the promise of an Unmatched tournament. :)

Our SOS is still sitting at just 1... but it's Oath...and I feel like that counts for about 10 games lol. Every time I think of playing it, I get overwhelmed by the amount of stuff involved, and I pick a different game lol
We’ve played oath once and it was an absolute blast. But totally understand the overwhelming feeling.
That's quite a list but I think there are so many good games on it, you'll have much fun playing them all. My favorite one is propably Cosmic Encounters even though I don't know if it is any good with two players.
I feel your pain! I have about 40 on my shelf of shame 😆 less guilty about the new purchases, much more guilt for the ones that have been sitting there for a year

About half of my collection is SoS. Luckily only a small handful is from before 2023, but that just shows how much my collection grew this year. It more than doubled in 2023.

We're pretty good at playing Buttonshy games as we get them, but...I just realized yesterday we have 15 Buttonshy *expansions* we haven't played😆

Me and my wife did so good last year we got the shelf down to one game but back up to about 20-25 so going to try and at least cut that in half this month

I have 31 games on my shelf of shame (one game literally just came in the mail during this video), but only 7 of those games have been on this list from last year, so I’ve been doing a good job. Most of the games on this list don’t have a solo mode, and I just got a consistent game group within the last two months, which has led to me being able to play more multi-player, so I think this list will be reduced soon.
This makes me feel better about the ~40 games on my sos 🤣 I'm trying to get the ones that have been there the longest played first! Some have been there for just over a year and it's getting ridiculous...😅 That's not a hat is really fun!!
Yea we definitely need to prioritize better but with so many coming in it’s tough

This is a Collection of Opportunity. You need to have priority shelves inside this Collection to start breaking down the problem into Shelves of Opportunity so you can make progress!
And this is why a collection of more than 365 is hard to handle. You'll end up with games that you havent touched in more than a year, simply playing a different game every day or the year. Given that most people have a session a week, 300+ games often represents 6 full years of games.
Yea, I mean we totally understand the math. The thing is though, it doesn’t bug us. We will get stuff played when we can!

Speaking of Opportunities, one sections should still be the To Do side and shouldn’t be included in the shame side until at least 6mo if not a year like one might do when they reorganize their wardrobe.
Some games are Seasonal, some are friend/gamer specific who we only see couple times a year etc
Spooky seasons a little bit off yet, but The Shivers and My Father's Work hopefully by October?
And Hellton Palace, maybe? These all look so fun!!

If you EVER get around to playing Mouse Cheese Cat Cucumber, REMEMBER to play cards on top of other cards, to make the cat or mouse move. If they don't move, they can't win early. (At the end of game they just need a pathway.)
Mint Julep has stupid rules for 2-player mode. Basically, you don't have dummy hands, but there's an extra step between players when drafting cards. Then you end up with 6 cards each, not 3.

We have had Mage Knight on our Shelf of Shopportunity since we started dating. You can probably knock that out in a weekend and probably fit in most of Frosthaven at the same time 😉

Unstable Unicorns is great. Tea for 2 is meh...., Telestrations is nice if you have a huge group that is fun but not like a great game on it's own.

Does a game ever “time out” on your shelf of shame? Like for me if I’ve had a game for 5 years and still haven’t got around to playing it, it’s time to move that game along to someone else who’ll enjoy it. The impulse to play it has clearly passed. I’d be interested to know how it works for y’all.
I would say it totally depends on the game! We do go through every now and then and cull a few that we either didn't enjoy or think we realistically will never want to play - we have a local game club that takes them for others to enjoy!
