I think we should have Iran Iraq Saudi plus India focus tree after the focus trees we have currently. Iran can choose to mess up the Soviet Union during the war or India can rebel and do its own thing.

People didn't like Spain when it had 1 civil war, and like playing it even less with the battleroyale 4-5 civil wars (they stole from Kaiserreich, cuz that's all Paradox does - sell content they take from mods).

And I don't know enough about the fash but I'd be shocked if there wasn't internal conflict at least, and exacerbating it to have some balance where you don't get rolled when you break apart as the republicans makes sense imo.

I think the next DLC will have a massive new mechanic but only used by Bhutan and Luxembourg.
I’m sure there will be a mechanic for Germany, where every second you have to click on 100 PP “take a breath” decision. And if you don’t click it, the leader will die and country falls into civil war.

I hope they reduce the cost of refitting, or somehow make navy more accessible, people alway tend to spam Sub 3 and call it a day, maybe add a research slot for Navy, but it will take way longer to research on that slot? (I'm alway forget about the Naval Tech Tree).
Also, please reduce Armored Car cost, I mean cheap Interwar Tank way better than Armored Car.
Refit its in a decent spot i think? What's the point of refitting a ww1 dreadnough with modern cannons for 16000 ic...or just build a modern bb for 13000 ic? Also a small fleet of 1940+ destroyers with max depth charges and sonar + either small airframe naval bombers, or naval patrol bombers, will destroy any submarine fleet, or if not destroy, will definitely protect any convoy
an interesting thought from your post is them expanding the amount of reasearch slots in the game, but make it so you unlock one from taking a naval focus, and it can only research naval tech. or same with air.
@@nikolaspinneo5066 I would rather say borrow idea from mods of some research slots being reserved for specific techs. One slot only for naval, one only for industry, with 1-3 serving as universal for anything.
You guys get ship tree? Lol refitting rework would only be applicable to the navy tree DLC so it'd be weird to have a doc that fixes another one. The solution would be to make the naval tree in the base game if you want that
@@jimmymfs4314 The point of reffitting is to add radar and FCS on existing old ship esp battleships, not for swaping their gun
old battleship as long as they got decent secondary and putting newest radar and FCS can decimate fleet of destroyer with as long as it has 100% screen, while in larger fleet it can be used as anti screen and it only cost you

My wishlist of random stuff:
- Better Czechslovakia focus tree
- Warlord independent path
- Siam focus tree
- More releasables in Central Europe
- Irish focus tree
We say how important those features are now, but we always forget that the game is 8 years old by now. We didn't *really* feel like the game was unplayable before the DLCs came out, and NOW we feel like "Why was it not in base game already" but in reality the game went a long way
I seem to recall on release HOI4 did get a lot of criticism for being barebones. (and having bad A.I.) But i'm looking at this one from the outside.
@@Darthvegeta8000 yeah Germany used to be suicidal for the longest time. If you where playing a minor power, you basically hand fed Germany. If they failed to take France they would still declare on Yugoslavia and Russia. Ending the game in 1943
HOI4 was already criticised for being barebones. The most iconic one being the fact that the game marketed itself by launching on June 6(D Day landings) and you couldn't recreate it because naval invasions barely worked + No floating harbors.
Because almost all paradox games are barebones when they come out. It's basically early access until fifth or sixth dlc.

There was a rant about next dlc and somebody said: Albania, ireland, German rework, japanese rework, belgium, Siam, luxemburg, austria and indies. Then a guy from paradox said This: "You mentioned at least 3 of countries that will recieve new focus trees."
I dont have a link, but it is one of the posts on reddit in hoi4 community. It just popped in for me few weeks ago and i remembered it.

Benelux rework may be possible in SEA DLC for the sake of Netherland (they may make dutch government at Indonesia more harder.) and Dutch east indies (refer to the dev that use term of at least 3) but for German rework, Austria, Albania, Czechoslovakia major rework may be another one (which may be included Balkan X Italy minor rework).
It might be southeast asian DLC, it will be cool if they add French Indochina and give them the focus tree. I'm pretty sure that other mods did that too.
They won't update more than 5 countries. Probably rework of Japan and Germany (which should be free) and Austria, Belgium.
They trickle in focus trees to maximise the amount of dlc.

I agree. I think (ignoring real world events) that a lot of fun scenarios can come out of the Middle East, I mean we already have Turkey.
But my heart and hope goes out to a Together For Victory update. I really like playing as these minor nations but they are so outdated when you compare them to what was recently released.

I definitely want a Middle East expansion. Iraq and Iran both participated in WWII and could have been significant. Of course, you'd want to throw Saudi Arabia in there, as well. Then we could get minors for Egypt, Afghanistan, and maybe Oman and Yemen.

And the mandate of palestine (jewish) can fight the mandate of palestine (arab). Like in RT56. A mini war of two units in two mini-provinces. All for historic accuracy.
My idealized expansion path for the future of HOI4:
-Japan rework with Southeast Asian content. Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines get new trees while Malaysia and a new tag of French Indochina get the Iceland/Paraguay/Uruguay treatment. They can all share a military tree again.
-Middle East. Rework Turkey again because its tree is awful, then give content to Iraq, Iran, and Afghanistan. Make Egypt a low autonomy puppet with its own mini tree.
-Andean countries and Central America/Caribbean. Trees for Peru, Bolivia, Colombia, and Venezuela. Minor shared trees for Central America and the three independent Caribbean countries (the same trees with different flavour). Shared military tree. In fact, Bolivia and Peru could probably just share with the Trial of Allegiance countries for military.
-Finish off Europe. Trees for the European minors mentioned in this video, Czechoslovakia rework, Hungary and Romania touchup. Maybe a Germany touchup too but I honestly don't have a problem with Germany's existing tree.
-Commonwealth rework. Australia, India and New Zealand get total reworks. Canada and South Africa get touchups.
-Remove Swizerland's focus tree because it sucks and is boring-
Also probably force Egypt into ww2, might be a little bit cheesy if you could just not call 'em in and never have to worry about the suez, not sure tho
@@Fuer64 The UK would retain the Suez and historical Egypt would do a gradual independence path that would see them still a low-autonomy puppet in 1940.
Also I forgot that China would need a touchup somewhere in there so the countries other than the main KMT China wouldn't be so janky.

I'd really really like minor focus trees for Slovakia and Croatia
the one issue with this is that these are countries that dont even exist in 1936, and only one does in 1939.
i do think they should get some flavor events, decisions, and formable though.

@@electricVGC isnt that because the game gives you the option to play as those? i think slovak and yugoslav focus trees could be justified if you had the option to play as those nations after dying as czechoslovakia and yugoslavia respectively.

I always found it odd that Waking the Tiger, a DLC with heavy focus on East Asia, also added a new focus tree for Germany...
I really, really hope they won't add balance of power to Germany, I despise that mechanic with a passion. Instead, I hope they add a hidden focus tree for the HRE, and make it so that you can core the provinces piece by piece like you would when reforming the Byzantine Empire. Also, though I probably won't play it, it lacks a communist path. I mean, you can become communist with Ernst Thälmann as an adviser, but none of the focus paths really fit because all of them sooner or later lead to war with the Soviet Union.
A mechanic I would like to see is condominiums. Like, an integrated puppet that belongs to two counties at once. Initially, both countries would get equal amounts of stuff out of that territory (resources, civs), which can shift towards one of the countries based on how much that country built in that area, for example, eventually leading to the complete annexation of this territory.
Also, as much new designers confuse me at first, a motorized/mechanized designer would be nice, I guess.
And as a free update: The ability to queue research and national focuses, like you already can with MIOs.
SEA Countries would be massive. Philippines does have potential as it's vital in ww2 (I'm probably bias hehehe)

It's wild that despite being such an early tree, the German tree is still strong to the day. We've seen how insanely strong some of the reworks have been, so this Germany one could be a game breaker.
I call the German DLC called Die Wacht Am Rhine or DWAR for short and Japan would be Rising East DLC or empire of the rising sun
The Germany DLC Name is great, i thinka japan+usa DLC would be great, therefore the name should focus less on japan and more on the pacific itself

An actual Philippine Focus Tree gonna be interesting. Based from history, the Philippines was set to be independent by 1946, it still was even after WW2, but alt-history, we can make it so that we can be either be independent early, break free via revolution, or follow the plan. We can also make it so that we focus more militarily, especially with MacArthur stationed in the Philippines, which could prevent the Philippines falling from Day 1 of the war. Ideologically: MacArthur-Military Junta and becoming an autonomous and militaristic, somewhat like a military base, state of America in the Pacific. There's also the Katipunan, which is the revolutionary society of Filipino nationalists, which is represented as the Fascist Ruling Party, we this we can break free from America via Revolution. Then the Communist Party of the Philippines (Pre-War) and the Huks (Mid and Post-War), CPP by staging a revolution, and Huks by going Communist during exile and planning spy missions to sabotage and rise up. Then more into alt-history, maybe even the formation of the MaPhilIndo. Something like the Nordic Council system. Then making it a formable nation. Maybe even have the decision or focus to reclaim former Spanish-Philippines holdings such as Guam and the Mariana Islands. Having border dispute focuses and events with British Malaya over Sabah. And just for the meme of modern times, small releasable nations such as the Sultanates of Sulu and Maguindanao. Historical wise, there are many possibilities.
I hate this like a plague.
If this happens, which I think is likely going to happen, they sold three dlc's for 10-20 $ each and then made the base game 10 $ more expensive just to sell another dlc with content for nations that already have an expansion about them.
I know nothing has been confirmed, but the ridiculous pricing and lack of content for ToA makes me doubt paradox will make generous choices in the future...

It would be nice if they added dual leaders. (Something like prime minister and king - Kaiserreich stuff).
If Germany and Japan get a DLC, it should probably be called something like "Lightning War" or "Igniting the Fire" due to both of them adopting the tactics of blitzkrieg to destroyed the enemy as quickly as possible as seen by Germany throughout Europe and Japan in the pacific. Igniting the Fire due to both them having started their respective theaters of war with Japan's invasion of China or bombing of Pearl Harbor and Germany's invasion of Poland. That's just what I think.
I want the fuel system to be reworked. :(
if I could I want to explain my first DLC a little bit more. the DLC would be based on Germany, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, and Hungry. The economy rework would let civs make cp and change the tech where going centralized givers more cp per civ stacked in one province. This would reopen the debate on centralized vs dispersed. The focus tree for Hungary and Austria would share a monarchical path to save on content creation. Czechoslovakia is in sure a bad state that with Death or Dishonor being free now it's a good excuse to redo the focus tree. I think this would be very similar in size to no steps back overall. This could also be a good chance to update old mechanics like governments in Excel since 2-3 of the countries would be taken over in most games.

For a Germany rework DLC:
Major Trees: Germany, Austria, Belgium
Minor Trees: Ireland, Luxembourg, Albania
with some touch up on some other nations to update them with potential alt-history paths.
For a Japan rework DLC:
Major Trees: Japan, Siam, Mengoku/Mongolia
Minor Trees: Malaya, Tannu Tuva, Phillipines
And some touch up on the China trees.
I pray that with a German rework the state borders will actually follow the Rhine and that the Saarland gets added as a a state

Also, make sure all nations have some sort of MIO for all equipment. Then you can make better ones for the nations that already has one to compensate if that was the reason some nations didn't have anything at all. The whole armor car thing needs a rework too after the tank designer rework kind of made them obsolete.
If Belgium gets an expansion, i hope Eugen and Spa will be added as a province, I love having those little details if i'm playing germany.
I was thinking about the EXACT same, would love such a DLC.
Next expansion: Germany, Central Europe and Balkan. New focus for Germany, New Focus for Austria, New Focus for Belgium, Micro Focus for Lux maybe, Rework of Balkan focus trees because Death of Dishonor + Waking the Tiger were integrated into base game. If they hint at Belgium now that region makes sense to be worked on first.
(Maybe the expansion after: Japan and USA but there isn't really any hint for this being the case)
But a Britain and Commonwealth+Ireland rework is definitely coming with the integration of Together for Victory.
Perhaps they should implement artillery shell supply system like the fuel supply system. Divisions with artillery should require a constant flow of shells, and get debuffs if they lack said shell supply. It would be realistic.

They should add economy! TNO mod is a great example of how it should work. The game would finally step out of the “arcade” zone to a more mature and fully fledged ww2 strategic simulator

I want alt history Germany, with communists and democracy. I remember Paradox saying somewhere that Germany doesn't have a commie path because the commies were basically fully stamped out at 1936, but then they added freaking Romanovs to USSR? Or a full spectrum of options to Italy, including the Pope taking over?
what i can see is maybe a dlc working on east asia, reworking manchuria and japan, maybe china, then giving focuses to tibet and mongolia, with minors to tannu tuva nepal bhutan and mengukquo, then a south east asia one. that reworks australia and newzealand, then giving the other countries in the region focus trees.

Hope they make a qol dlc sort of thing, like they did with eu4 with the nomination dlc, flavouring and enchanting almost every major nation in thay game. What i want from paradox is a domination dlc for hoi4, germany, japan, usa, Britain reworked, and a few small insignificant focus trees and flavor here and there for some minors, like Philippines, checkoslovakia.
My ideas are that they are gonna make the 3 dlcs part of the base game, and make an expansion that will rework Czechoslovakia, maybe Hungary and mainly Germany and also add Belgium and Austria Focus trees to the dlc or thing with a minor focus tree for Luxembourg, also a DLC for Japan, RoC, PRC, Mongolia and minor trees for Tuva and the warlords. Also a South-East Asia DLC is a possibility adding trees for Siam, Philipines, Malaya and Dutch East Indies and maybe making French Indochina a thing and have its own Focus Tree.
I want all focus trees to focus more on the 35 day focuses. Its stupid to wait two months in-game to get anything.

Between us, the old dlcs needed to be added into the base game anyways because Paradox is one greedy goblin that make a mid game and has you pay to improve it.
I'd like for them to add little focus tree on historical formable nations, like Slovakia and Ustasha Croatia. It could be limited tree like Free / Vichy France and said former nations (Czecoslovakia and Yugoslavia) could be continue playing as puppet or exiles with added resistance. That being said, having generic focus tree is generally more powerful with bonus factories so completely optional.
Speaking of resistance, having balance-of-power mechanic but on resistance would be cool too. Resistance would increase / decrease with every event news about the condition of the occupier. This would mean that Germany, for example, could get a boost to decrease France / Poland resistance by capturing Stalingrad, Moscow, or London if somehow America is already joining Allies by the time UK capitulated. It also mean that event news is more than just a flavour, but become a tool for propaganda just like real life.

They could also just update Waking the Tiger if they want to give germany a new focus tree. If they dont give something to the people who already have the 3 DLC id kinda feel robbed. I dont know how to feel about that
For new mechanics, there are a lot they can potentially do. A more in depth population and labour system, a system for handling PoWs or political prisoners, an expansion of infantry division variety… all of those could be interesting. Obviously not all will be considered, but some of those ideas could have big impacts. For population and labour expansion for example, you could have the impacts of mass movements of people both into and out of the country, along with where labour gets focused. Having civilian factories and military factories is fair… but not everyone is going to work in the factories or on the front line. Food does not grow itself.
I think Turkey needs new economic focus tree. You simply dont get any factory from focuses especially in early game. You have to spend pp to get some civs thats all.
French Indo-China as a playable puppet/colony could have some great flavor. Adding it into an expansion with Siam, Philippines, Malaysia and Japan could make for some fun interplay in the region on non historical.
Doing all of them at once would give a lot of potential for Japanese flavor paths. Each ideology could try to unite the region in different ways. Each of the minors could have similar ways to attempt to unite region on non-historical paths.
I would like a Hungary rework. There are so many alt-history options around that country that could be included and also their territories need to be fixed. Like having the Slovak territories, Banat and Carpathian Ruthenia as cores (or at least having the option to core them through decisions), detach the Burgenland from Lower Austria and have Hungary the option to take it from Austria. Also it would be nice to have the option to core Croatian territories as they were part of the Hungarian Kingdom for 800 years and be able to quickly build a navy.
After seeing what they did for South America, I would like to see the Commonwealth revisited. I would like to see more fleshed out and interesting focus trees for Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa. Maybe mini focus trees for other Commonwealth nations.
I wouldn't necessarily say that the Phillipines was a speed bump. A LOT of Japanese soldiers died there, even after capitulating.

The incorporation of certain DLCs into the base game reminds me of an issue I have with Paradox DLC policy. I don't mind all the expansions they release but there shouldn't be "essential" DLCs that should be free updates to the game. Looking at EU4 it's wild that deving provinces used to be locked behind a dlc.
I feel like for a lot of these, you could Frankenstein two different focus trees together. Belgium could take parts from France, Germany, and the Netherlands. Austria could take parts from Germany, Hungary, and maybe Switzerland, etc.. In addition to some unique stuff, of course.
They need to re, rework the air war. They need to add the ability to add more air bases per providence or at least make them more central to the state location they are in. Or at least make the range of the aircraft center be the actual airbase. I.e. the Texas airbase is on the Rio Grand but the air range cover is barely into Mexico in early game. Also, they need to improve how planes are distributed. They need to be thought of equipment that air divisions need to be supplied, like guns, tanks, artillery, etc. When you create a wing and train it to vetern and accidentally disband it then you lose that experience. Just because the wing gets terminated doesn’t mean the pilots forget how to fly. Historically, the Air Force of the US was part of the Amy. In this simulation you could attach a division of army Air Force, with brigades of fighters, escorts, CAS, strat bombers, etc. to a land Army and then as the divisions move, so does the Air Force division. It would move with the army provided there was a sufficient airbase to hold their “equipment” on or near their front. Or you could “Garrison” those divisions to airbases and then select a range of states to “garrison”. As you “liberate” enemy regions, they would move to garrison the airbase, automatically. In regard to the Great Depression, removing it is not the problem. It’s moving from isolated economy to civilian economy (I.e. wake the giant) that the full power of us industry to take effect. Make “Waking the Giant” available until World tension is 50% or maybe even 75%.
The only thing I'd love aswell now is a small tweaking of the Netherlands focus trees, if only shortening the Zuiderzee one. over 250 days for that is just long af, and a few more 35 day focuses instead of 70. That's all I'd really want :(
That said, it'll be interesting to see a German rework and I'll unironically play Belgium if they get one too!
I hope that they add the missing outstanding German generals like Von Flakenhorst so that you can rp the invasion of Denmark and Norway historically
Yea Philippines was not just a speed bump in WW2 and definitely had more impact than Siam to the overall war
I’m personally taking all this as confirmation that all the DLCs that they made free will be reworked or altered. What I mean is, for example:
- German Rework + Belgium, Luxembourg, Austria focus trees (maybe Albania)
- Commonwealth Rework + Ireland, British Malaya (maybe Iraq or smth)
-Japan rework + China, Philippines, Dutch East Indies
The free DLC's are no longer available, March 21 was the last date to claim them T_T
They will be integrated into the base game, so it will be free again.
If they do a rework for Japan I hope they add floating dry docks in the naval research where I can repair my ships in a location that doesn’t have a naval base because I keep having that idea in my head
One of the big problems with the game is how fast world tension goes up now. When the game was new, that was what was slowing the allies down and especially the USA.
I've wanted a SE Asia DLC for so long! People take it for granted that the Straights of Malacca is one of the most important waterways in the world.
I know in a past Dev Comment they said the Romanian Focus tree is just Factually historically Wrong and they have a 20 page word Document of Changes they wanted to do for it but said that it wouldn't make them money to fix the tree so they iceboxed those changes. SO I predict a rework for Death or Dishonor trees down the line maybe.
I would love a new focus tree for China. I have never seen their civil war work in a historical way. Would be nice to see new mechanics for that one.
I hope that German and Japan rework will be for free because if they want us to pay for the same thing again it's outrageous

It's PDX. Of course it will be paid. That's the whole purpose of integrating previous "Germany DLC" into the base game.
It's not the same thing the game is a lot deeper than it was years ago.
If they add like 6 new focus trees along with the re-works it's probably worth it.

the next expansion should be called Waking Death Together and it be about Belgium Austria Luxenberg and maybe focuses for Ireland and Albina with reworks to the German tree to help focuses around these three minors that you would eventually either annex or collaborate with minor focuses added to GB if they do Ireland and same with Italy and Albania maybe a extra French focus to try and convince Belgium to extend the Maginot line onto its border with Germany
What's exactly so key about Lend Lease again?... Doesn't game already has send equipment feature without it?
Edit: The only thing DLC did here was adding option to request Lend Lease. One could send equipment without DLC.
Creative Assembly is without a doubt the best Developer of Rts Strategy Games we do need an expanded model of the unit sprites to see the german infantry model in the default and still holding mp38s even if you research the first assault rifle the stg 44 still same unit model and sprite but different name.
Here's an idea for a mechanic. National policies. It could play into the congress side of US gameplay that a majority cry for a certain thing and to placate them into cooperating you pass policies you want.

They should do USA like they did Soviets. Also, I think they could use a War mechanic that will depending on your victories/loses affect your army, air and navy. Let's say that your Army is awesome and you just bully everyone, then the units that have the most contribution, like say Tanks, should get a bonus like +10% attack, and if they are lossing they should get -10% Defence. Also for Air or Navy, if your navy is winning you should get a +10% chance of hiiting your enemy and vice versa, same with airforce. Though, they could also add something like they did for China and make you use Army/Air/Navy Exp to get your army from demiliterized (Post war) state slowly into war state. SAme can be done for Industries. they can add more variety of them say, light indistry, heavy, specialized, Civilian Docks, Military docks. Maybe adding a research build that if you let's say build 10 you get an extra boost to it. There is a lot that can be done. Also, we need to add Air Generals, that could be supper useful to nations like Germany, USA, UK, JAP, Sov and many more, similar how we have Air Heros. PS Sorry for my Bad English it isn't my 1st language...
Am I the only who want that desire simplify features instead of new ones? Like Boats, tanks and planes take so much times to research now. The spy system become outdated. I think they should improve and add some A.I system for building slot, exchange, science and spies.
The only problem I have with a new rework for Germany/Japan is that it’s going to make the old dlc obsolete so why’d I spend £15 on something I can now get for free?

The Communist path for the UK also needs an update: the path just sucks, like how the British communist alternative loses the Dominions just to gain a faction with weak members. You could improve this be giving these released puppets a minor focus tree.

They did overwrite DLCs in EU4 (and generally overlapping features, El Dorado comes to mind), but I guess it's time for a change. I don't like it that they upped the price for the base game just for incorporating these DLCs, but I guess it's not the worst thing that they could have done.

Maybe Austria has a feature to promote their nation to the people and prevent a majority on the anschluss vote favoring the annexation of Austria but this can be undermined by Germany and if Germany successfully does so, the vote would be majority for the annexation!
