Haha yeah we noticed the fire too!!! And yeah this thing is fast! I like it but I couldn’t only fly fast stuff I like the slow stuff also. We have a glider coming up soon I’m excited about that! Something a little more laid back than this EFX 😂
You’re right! That thing is FAST! I kept losing it so thankfully Mary does a great job keeping it in her sights. The had launches were great and the landings spectacular! Holy cow, it is fast fast fast! Lots of fun to watch. Nice to know that Hobby King seems to have everything you need. Thanks

I have the EFxtra and that baby rips, loved it so much I bought a second one, they can easily reach 120mph on 4s, I run pulse 1550mah 4s 100C and it screams, unlimited vertical and on high rates can do flat spins for days

Hi, with 4S 1500 75c Tattu, what is the flight time on cruise mode (because i'm beginner) ?
Doan D I was using a 4s 1800mah when I switched over to 4s I was able to get around 5-6 min easily. I think I landed at around storage voltage. I try to land at storage always haha. Less battery management when I get home haha. If you truly are a beginner start on 3s. It’s still insanely fast on 3s out of the box with the installed propeller.

Do you think this plane is easy flyer when it's half or less of throttle on 3s? I really want to get something small so i can fly at a dollar store parking lot there is a small field. Not sure how slow it will get for landing.
Thanks so much man means alot. Yeah we know of the RC Saylors they're great!! Abby has become quite the flier for sure! So this plane is super fast on 3s also. Depends on your skill level for flying in a small field. You could do it but would not be my first choice haha. It gets away from you quick and needs a lot of room to land. I would be looking for a high wing type plane like a Cub or better yet a straight up STOL plane with flaps. Even a Cub like the HK Swiss Cub we flew recently is awesome and would be great for a park/parking lot. The Swiss cub does 3s or 4s right out of the box. Or even the Durafly Tundra would be great for a small field. The EFX racer is awesome but as you saw its insane fast haha.
@@UngluedModeler I been flying since 1980's. But I stop flying full time 2015 when I had an spinal injury. I'm rusted. I did started helicopter project this year. Also helicopter i was into it before 2015 well 2006 to 2015. I bought few 3d planes this year. Their slow i need a road runner. HAHA I'll look up for the cub. Also where I want to fly i cant with a 3d plane because needs long run way. Cub look nice and if it has flaps that be nice too. I'll see more about that cub u mention. :)
Cool! Yeah I still have my nitro 50 size TT raptor lol. Helis are crazy. Anyway, the swiss cub does not have flaps but the Tundra does.
hi, in my efx racer description book,stands for 3s a 6x5,,and for 4s a 5x5 prop,,,i also have the 60a esc.....maybee i can use bigger props like you?

Arghhhh! Get away from the bitumen for hand launches, ESPECIALLY for a maiden. Crashing into grass or even dirt does a lot less harm than bitumen.
I've got one of these and when I get around to putting it together I absolutely WILL be running it on 4S, I love speed! My silliest machine is a Skywalker Falcon foamy with me custom made carbon fiber and Kevlar canopy that simply follows the shape of the wing and the motor mount shaped down to allow maximum airflow to the prop but, also into the motor to help cool it. I modified it reinforcing a bit at a time till again I'd hit wing harmonics and it would be like slamming into a wall but, with a good 2,300 kv motor running on 4S and a ridiculous 120 amp speed controller (it doesn't need that but I had it and better more than less and stuck, after much experimenting I found the spare 5X5 prop that came with an AXN floater jet worked better than any other prop I tried and on it's last run just before both servos self destructed because they were on full up just to fly level at full throttle it hit 185 kph on the onboard GPS and making sure I was flying cross wind to try and get as accurate a reading as possible. It will fly again when I can get around to it and I'm sure I can get 200 kph out of it if I can get that wing flutter under control. The acceleration when you hit that throttle, even going vertical is just insane. Not too bade for a thin floppy flying wing meant for FPV which meant I have plenty of room under the canopy, even my low and gently curving one and it would normally happily fly at almost walking pace. I love taking something designed to do one thing then turning it into an angry mutant of what it started out as.
Not so helpful with that EFX Racer but especially these fast type models like that pusher Falcon and a Ducted Fan jet I saw you maiden recently I put a nylon wing skid under the nose and back around 4 inches from the nose. Partly to help protect the underside, partly to help give the prop a better chance to rotate around out of the way but, mainly to put a notch in the trailing edge to hook a loop in my bungee rubber onto. That's proven to be by far the most reliable low risk launch method I've found. You could use it on that model BUT, you'll almost certainly have to restrain yourself from hitting any throttle till you've gone over the point where the other end of the rubber is pegged to the ground. Any pusher prop or ducted fan setup you could have throttle on before release and, just maybe it might be clear enough of that prop to use power from the start but I wouldn't count on it.
Seriously, try the bungee way, it's so much more reliable and dead easy even on your own. I use Hobbyking's rubber bungee cord, the thinner one and the full length of it with a simple loop in each end and haven't had one mishap since starting using it as opposed to others hand launching for me and even somehow flying my early, first generation Stinger 64mm EDF out of a hand launch by a very experienced flyer where it rotated as he tried to throw it and actually wound up going a bit past vertical to facing backwards a bit. Thank f*** I keep weight, including batteries as low as possible or that little 64mm EDF wouldn't have had a chance of flying itself out of that one. I do have it on a backup hard drive somewhere and I never even realised how badly the launch went till I saw the video of it played back in slow motion, I'm still blown away that I somehow managed to fly it out of that. I'm a long way from it so haven't flown it for ages but apart from a few bruises (it was the one that made me look for a better way after that launch plus other ones I'd tried to hand launch it myself and lawn darted it but, it's still perfectly flyable. On it in particular I make sure NOT to put the motor brake on as I'm never seriously going to try and glide it and those kinda huge intakes scoop a lot of air in and that spinning prop off power makes a really good brake. I could put it into about a 45 degree dive and you'd hear that fan spinning madly as all that air tries to push through but can't then level off just above the ground then skid to a nice stop in a pretty short distance. I have got the bigger much later one in a box ready to go when I need it but even that first generation little 64mm fan one is surprisingly quick and fun to fly, surprisingly well behaved responsive little thing that it is.
Please get away from that very hard and abrasive bitumen when hand launching, there's absolutely no advantage and only disadvantages launching over that.
You've given me incentive to get my EFX Racer out and do all those extra little things I like to do and glue to make sure everything goes as well as is possible, it looks a lot of fun just on 3S so I'm going to love the scream of it on 4S lol.

@@UngluedModeler Thanks, you've given me a lot of incentive after watching this. I'm impressed with how that really did seem to be on rails. It seemed very precise for a foamy and in pretty much every way it seemed a great little flyer.
A correction: I said 185 kph, that's more like 118 mph or thereabout. I'm Australian and we're all metric but at 66 years old I grew up on imperial so converting from one to the other comes pretty naturally to me.
Just a suggestion but have you practiced side slipping models? It's a good way to create a lot of drag to wash off speed, things like that tend to be so slippery they just keep floating. If new to it, what I did a lot of anyway, I'd keep the model up high, give a fair bit of extra power and put hard rudder one way and ailerons the opposite and try and keep it wings level but fly in a wide circle and now and then change to the other side and kept doing that to get myself well used to the weird unnatural sort of control inputs. Every now and then I'd cut power from up high and full rudder and ailerons to compensate and sort of aim the wingtip somewhat sideways towards the ground at an angle that just barely kept it gliding and once competent I was landing from heights with just a mild breeze at an angle not far off vertical, around 75 to 80 degrees I reckon. That was mostly practiced on an AXN floater but I use the same technique even more controllably on a scratch built balsa and ply Stick I've got to land quickly if a plane flies over low or just for the practice, it may be very helpful for slowing that little beauty down too. If you're not used to it, practice up high till you feel confident, actually always on a new model feel it out at height just in case it's got any unusual reactions to flying half sideways. Another thought you might use instead of or with is to mix in flaperon to your ailerons to slow the slippery little sucker down.
One thing I'm pretty sure I already have for my EFX is one of the nice VERY LIGHT hard plastic spinners with 2 screws to mount them to the thin light aluminium back plate. I'll be cutting the very front of that plastic nose off to leave about a three eighths hole to let a limited amount of air in there then dremelling a couple or maybe 3 holes in the backplate as close to the center as I can get them all angled to scoop air into the guts of the motor as it spins but also allowing free flow while it either glides or just flies very gently after a big sustained blast to allow everything to cool down.

I hope I wasn't just telling you things you already are well practiced in, it's hard to know for sure till you see someone actually doing these things and I've only been following your channel for a couple of months and haven't gone through your older stuff so I'm sorry if I was just preaching to the converted, it's just that even in the club I'm in, the ONLY time I've even seen ANYONE using side slip was at the giant scale aerobatic championship comp at our field and even then only 1 bloke used it regularly to be able to land almost on a dime with his 3.4 meter 4 cylinder petrol engined beast with massive control surfaces so it seems the vast majority of model flyers don't use or even know about it. Actually, I hadn't ever heard of it till I experienced it first hand when I went for a fly in an old Tiger Moth with a VERY good pilot. We did mostly a scenic type flight but as we were just over the edge of the runway and only about 10 feet up he decided to take a short cut back to the club house and threw it around on rudder and as it swung out at it's extreme he then flipped the rudder hard over the opposite way and whipped it almost completely sideways before the wind caught it and brought it back straight just in time to touch down gently and roll to a stop within what memory tells me was only about 10 feet! I had no idea what sideslip was till he explained it to me after and with communication between passenger at the front and pilot behind and all right behind the prop and engine communication was limited to hand gestures. When he did it I just thought something had gone catastrophically wrong with the plane and automatically did the ONLY thing I could do to protect myself at all, which I did without even thinking but, it was all I could do and that was to pull the goggles I had sitting on my forehead down to at least protect my eyes from all the flying debris I was expecting to be about to go flying in all directions. It's funny when I look back on it but that literally was the only thing I could do. That landing and the amazingly effective way it washed off speed got me hooked on perfecting it myself, it can be handy, especially with real light floaters and super slippery ones.

Never too early Buck!! Lol. Congrats on your first plane!!! It’s an amazing hobby!! This plane is what’s known as a belly lander. So it doesn’t have traditional wheeled landing gear. It has skid plates. There is a main center pod it slides on, two wing tip pods on the bottom and a slider pod on the tail also!! Hope I explained it right haha 😂

HI, the EFX and EFXtra is the same price on HKing, i'm not expert but beginner, whitch model to buy ? The EFXtra cas glide as well as EFX ?
Great question! However these planes are not beginner planes at all. These are intermediate to advanced. They are extremely fast and sensitive to controls with no stabilization or dihedral built into the wing. To answer your question though…. The EFXtra vs Racer. The Xtra is a clipped wing at 975mm and the Racer is swept back wing at 1100mm. So the Racer will glide a tad better with the slightly bigger wingspan. They are both blistering fast but the Xtra with the clipped wings will have faster roll rates. What planes have you flown? Do you know how to fly without assistance?
@@UngluedModeler I come from the Drone Racer hobby (Freestyle and racing with gates) I own a HK Corsair F4U warbird and have flown with stabilizer assist. concerning the EFXTra, I can do a setup in low rate (roll pitch and throttle) with my TX16s radio control and I am thinking of putting a small flight assistance module such as the Radiolink Byme_A for example. it is true that the most difficult thing is to fly in LOS mode. When I was a beginner with the drone racer, I flew in LOS then it was after that I learned to do it in FPV immersion with Fatshark goggles. I plan to do the same with this plane and also fly in FPV. What do you think, I make the gap right away by buying a racer plane (not too keen on buying a Glider, maybe it's me who's wrong).
Ok cool!! I thought this was your first RC ever when you said beginner haha. You should be good to go then with this plane. Low rates by the manual work perfect that’s what I flew mine on the whole time and it felt great. And yes LOS is hard coming from FPV but sounds like you know that already and are taking the right steps. Also the flight module is a great idea but the space inside the battery area is VERY small. Pretty much only room for a battery and your receiver. I used an FrSky X4R I had laying around.
@@UngluedModeler In the Xtra version, the space inside the battery aera is bigger than the EFX version, you confirm ? I do my plan with EfXtra because the FPV mount kit is already on the box. The EFX wingspan is 1100mm versus 975 on the Xtra , so 62.5milimeters shorter on right side and left too. I think when throttle is off, the plane will glide as well 🤔.
The fuselage is the same on both. So the space inside is the same. And yes the xtra comes with the FPV canopy. You can prolly make it work by using a smaller battery like a 1500mah or something. I was using the biggest batteries I could fit. 3s 2200 and a 4s 1800. They glide good but it’s coming down pretty fast haha. Such a slim low profile wing. Great planes though. Fast and on rails
What receiver are you running? Is there much space for the receiver?
Not much room at all!! If I remember correctly I’m either running a black FrSky X4R (4 ppm channels) or a FrSky V8r7-ii. Both great little receivers for when space is tight. The black X4R is no longer made but the V8r7 is. It’s a small 7 channel that runs in D8 mode.
