Thanks for the demo. Till now I have only seen footage of pros flying this one, it’s nice to have a review from a very good 3D pilot instead. Pros can make anything look good or easy, sunday pilots can make any plane look horrible. But with a good pilot we know what to expect. thks. :)
Curious, how does this Katana 52 plane compare to the Addiction V3? Is the Addition V3 more of a slow n low type plane? Addiciton V3 has bigger wings, so it may be more floaty?
Yep, now you know what I've been talking about. It's a different world with a purpose designed and built balsa 3D plane. No foamy can match them. Nice flying man, and welcome to the club! It was enjoyable watching you enjoy it! Curious what your gyro gains/priority is?
A lil more throttle management those waterfalls inverted and upright will get crisp and not so fast. The snaps will get better also. I would also use their servos and esc motor to max your experience .
Thanks for a really interesting video. I own the base model Extra 260 and find it is hard to fly in wind. I also need a flatter prop (slower) as it flies very fast and almost impossible to hover.
I just bought and maiden'ed that plane. It is challenging to do all the stunts the pros do. It does fly most excellent as do all of the PA aircraft. I would love to see a video done of the Addiction X and XL.... it would be most interesting to hear your thoughts!
Now that you’re very familiar with this model characteristics, it would be great to get the carbon vortex generators and sfg’s, then retest and compare harriers etc with and without.
I flew someone else's once and to me it felt like flying a more rigid version of a foam 3D plane since it is so light. I personally tend to like the slightly heavier 3D birds in this size but this is an excellent floaty type low and slow 3D plane that can also do some XA. For price, I can't quite agree the price is "great", seems be quite average as far as price is concerned for something this size that is a high quality built up type plane.
@@TwoBrosRC He isn't that proficient on the sticks as you are he merely flies the basics , around, checks stalls ,slow flight and maybe a roll or loop , on special occasions knife edge that's about it, his thing is testing motors and radio set ups.
4:35 Sorry, I know this is a little off topic. But I've been trying to knife edge spin on RF Evo and I'm breaking the fin or stab on almost any model tried. Is this a problem with real models? I hesitate to try it with my new e-flite extra 300 for fear of damage.
Jon, did you have to glue on or screw in screws for the horizontal/vertical stabilizers for the katana? I’m thinking about getting one of them for myself.
@@bodhescheerer1380 We'd seen Michael Wargo flying it and loved the way the airframe looked. It also helped that it was in-stock and was the correct size for the servos AGF sponsored us with.

Great video a full fuse foamy just can’t compare to these woody’s. They may be more expensive but the flight experience is totally worth it.

Absolutely, it's phenomenal! It's using 2x gains with 10 roll, 22 pitch, and 5 yaw set to 195 priority.

We're using their ESC and motor, but the servos from AGF are best-in-class so we're using those instead.

I have the yellow and blue Katana . I did the same thing as you did . I cut the servo hole in the covering for the elevator in the wrong place .
Tis unfortunate but easy to fix with some replacement covering.

They don't play well with the Quantum ESC. It thinks they're 5s packs and cuts off throttle at 15.8v.

It's not a problem at all - that's just how RF simulates damage. No foam BnF model is going to come apart from doing a KE spin.
You can use the KEtana electric in RF Evo, it doesnt break

The horizontal stabilizers need to be glued into the fuselage. The elevator and rudder need to be CA hinged into the fuselage.
What was your thought process/decision matrix that lead you to the Katana? I’ve been debating between the Katana, Addiction/addiction X, and XR 52.
PA is local so we wanted to support a local business - and we've heard nothing but great things about how their models fly.
