This was WAY better than we could have expected!!😭 We've started Season 2 already on our Patreon and can't wait for you all to see our reactions😊www.patreon.com/CaraPrez
I just think it's so amazing how a character that wasn't with us for that long has made such a big impact on the story. She is precent always throughout even if she isn't physically there
The reason why the official YOASOBI music video has garnered so many views is that, after watching the first episode of "Oshi no Ko" and then viewing the official MV, you'll understand why the music is structured the way it is, why the visuals are designed as they are, and why the lyrics are written in such a way. It’s rare to find an MV that is so deeply linked with the anime. Moreover, the brilliance of the seemingly unnatural English translation in the official English version lies in the fact that it not only matches the sounds of the Japanese but also aligns with the meaning of the story. In many cases, the sounds at the beginning and end of the lyrics are matched. What’s even more fascinating is that, after listening to the Japanese version several times, when you listen to the English version, there are parts where it sounds like Japanese even though it's in English. For example, ENG "That emotion melts" = JPN "daremoga mewo," and ENG "Completely deny" = JPN "kanpekijanai." I’m sure there are more, so try to find them! Furthermore, the translation and sound alignment in YOASOBI's "夜に駆ける" between the Japanese and English versions are incredibly well done - it’s unbelievable how much the English sounds like Japanese. Please make sure to listen and compare them!
This song was number 1 in Japan for almost 1/2 a year. Ai's VA also did an offical cover of it so you should listen to it so you can hear in her voice.
10:22...Yes, Virgin Mary is called "Virgem Maria" in spanish or portuguese. Its a reference that an idol needs to be pure and untouched at the eyes of his audience.
The song presents different perspectives: ☆ Ai's public image seen by media and fans ☆ how former B-Komachi member sees Ai (Based on short story '45510' written by Oshi no Ko's writer, Aka Akasaka. It portrays how she is jealous of Ai but respects her as the 'perfect and ultimate idol') ☆ how Ai portrays herself about her imperfections and secrets including her children...and her last words
Just read the manga last week because of hiatus, now 07:04 the part where the other idol members kinda hates & love Ai at the same time gives me chills..
i love the choir parts in the song, the voices of male fans chanting "You're my saviour, my true saviour, my saving grace". idol fans tend to see idols as these pure, otherworldly beings, like the virgin mary (or Maria in the lyrics)
If you notice, when the music video finally shows Aqua and Ruby: 1. They are both watching their mother through a television, showing the distance between the kids and their mother, also that they can only see her through her fake Idol persona in recorded media. 2. Ai is holding the head of the bunnysuit (you can think of the bunny suit as a whole body lie/cover-up/disguise). She is also wearing the dress that she was stubbed in. She drops the last remnant of her diguise, hugs her kids saying "I love you" and then disappears... mirroring that she could only say those words moments before her death, and finally being able to say it without it ever becoming a lie due to time.
@@CaraPrezReacts by the way I think reacting to the most listened to openings video is a great idea, but make sure you do the most recent one (I think its like a month old, theres many videos like it but the month old one not only its got updated stats, it also includes spotify streams + yt views + other streaming platforms)
So the reason for the Rabbit costume is because the word for rabbit in Japanese is Usagi, which is very close to the word for Lie which is Uso. Essentially it is there as a visual to say that the stage performance is a deception a lie. When you move forward Aqua and Ruby are seen watching the TV together and Ai drops the mask which symbolizes the lie completely meaning that she doesn't need to lie to love them.
I love you two together as reactors, naturally gifted at commentary and charismatic together! Thank you for enjoying the same shows I do so I can enjoy your reactions to them!
Best opening ever, the first japanese song worlwide view-wise! Both the track and the lyrics are incredible, and the clip’s so catchy! And the fact she sung it in both languages…! Definitely a fav ❤
It was already so big and I loved it to much but what solidified it for me was seeing Stray Kids and other kpop idols dancing behind to Ikura when she was singing. it reminded me of when I used to watch kpop lol.
it was mentioned by someone else in the comments but i also agree you guys should check out rie takahashi’s (ai’s va) cover of idol!! whether it be a reaction or just on your own time, it’s worth checking out bc hearing this song sung by ai herself seriously hits even harder 🥲
I thought it was more like "white rabbits are seem as a simbol of cuteness and innocence, and thats what Idols are expected to be, cute and inocent So when she is on stage, she has to 'wear a white bunny costume' for the fans"
No.1 Anime OP's on UA-cam is Idol (I think), but the most view Anime song is "Uchiage Hanabi" by DAOKO and Kenshi Yonezu. Also, you should listen to live version, as well as SS2 OP and ED too... For ss2 (not spoiler), at ep 12 and 13, you guy should watch the credit until the end... it's a little bit different from other ep. and it's impactful.
I really like your interpretation of the opening visuals, I think you really hid the nail there. The Maria part is also one that took my attention and I think there is even more to that than what you already mentioned. Remember episode 1? Ruby and Aqua claimed to be gods born from Ai because she was chosen by the gods, sounds familiar doesn’t it? Furthermore Maria is the Idol of the catholic church, seen as a perfect and pure mother of all. This is completely in tune with Ais protrayel, her lies that try to make her look like the perfect person. It speaks volumes about the depersonification of Ai, she isn’t seen as a human but a symbol, being put on a pedestal constantly. But this isnt where it ends. Making Ai Maria also equates Aqua and Ruby with Jesus, you know, the guy who was REBORN! There is more to write on this but that would go into future stuff so Ill leave it for now. Lastly this allegory is a great opener for a religious viewing lens of the show, the whole thing depicts the entertainment industry as a replacement for the church and how this leads to dehumanizing the performers and radicalizing their followers through misguided believes etc.
Also, Ruby straight up assumes that she and Aqua were of virgin birth, which is what prompted Ai to make that fateful call their dad in the first place.
The song itself is absolutely amazing, but you just had to be there when "Idol" became the #1 song in the world. 😮 There was a sort or morbid feeling seeing that happen in real time, knowing Ai's fate and all....
As much as I love the original english version of Idol, I recommend you listen to the english cover of Idol by Will Stetson! Will's cover was released before the official english version, but I feel like the lyrics in that cover flows much better and I personally prefer it. So please check it when you have the time! (You don't have to react to it, I just want you guys to check it out)
If you wanna get super depressed yea need to read the post put out by the author behind the song from the perspective of one of her band mates. It’s insanely good.
I'm baffled they still don't have English subs on that original video. But any non-casual anime watcher should get as much as half of those lyrics by ear.
It's my 69th like to this reaction.😂 And for some reason I don't see the last episode of Oshi No Ko Season 1.😂 Is it not released yet? I'll wait for it. Don't worry. Great reaction!😃
Many reactors record their reactions to multiple episodes ahead of time (unless its a seasonal anime) So, they probably have the recordings, but they have a schedule to follow, so we have to wait
I would definitely like it if you reacted to one of the top 100 most popular anime ops (would recommend the one by RINNE, as he combines views from youtube, youtube music and spotify)
There is no other opening song that passes 200 million views beside this; however, there are some anime openings that pass 100 million views. and Idol stand above all of them by a lot of margin; i mean, it got more than 500 million views, and I don't really think any other anime can beat those records. This song won several awards on and outside Japan. Oshi No Ko also won Anime of the Year in Japan, although it lost to JJK S2 in Crunchyroll, but the anime was still one of the nominees considering Crunchyroll does not even have this anime license.
Yeah this song went viral, even for people who didn't watch the anime first. Yoasobi was already kinda popular iirc but this just help catapult them even in the western world, they were at Coachella and everything. Kpop idols did dance challenges to this song and just more and more people heard it! It goes hard!
Wait, y'all didn't watch this yet? That's cragy. I actually prefer Amalee's English cover over Yoasobi's English version. If you do watch the hundred most streamed, make sure it takes in YT Music and Spotify and UA-cam streams.
The english version is so trash imo, and i'm not saying that as a "EWWW DUB" fan, i mean... it doesn't even rhyme... Amalee's english version is SO much better, while still keeping the message
This was WAY better than we could have expected!!😭 We've started Season 2 already on our Patreon and can't wait for you all to see our reactions😊www.patreon.com/CaraPrez
The second part of the song is from B Komachi side... from a side manga it explains how B Komachi didn't like Ai popularity.
DO THE ENDING TOO also such a good message T-T
I just think it's so amazing how a character that wasn't with us for that long has made such a big impact on the story. She is precent always throughout even if she isn't physically there
Ai = Idol Rengoku

Well, in spanish it's Virgen María, so I guess it's portuguse, but they are practically the same
Maria/ Mary could also be a reference to the father being unknown thus making Aqua and Ruby's conception a form of virgin conception.
Obrigado, só fui entender essa parte da música agora kkkk
The song presents different perspectives:
☆ Ai's public image seen by media and fans

Fun fact: The girl that sings the song in japanese is the same person that also sings it in english.
It is.
When I listened at that opening after seing the episode 1 I cried so much
The live version is so so good as well.
Just read the manga last week because of hiatus, now 07:04 the part where the other idol members kinda hates & love Ai at the same time gives me chills..
The lyrics themselves are from the short story "45510". I suggest reading it.
i love the choir parts in the song, the voices of male fans chanting "You're my saviour, my true saviour, my saving grace". idol fans tend to see idols as these pure, otherworldly beings, like the virgin mary (or Maria in the lyrics)

You finally reacted to it. I was wondering why didn't you made a reaction to this masterpiece. You guys are amazing.
We didn't want to risk any spoilers! But now we also have a far stronger connection to everyone than when we started
@@CaraPrezReacts by the way I think reacting to the most listened to openings video is a great idea, but make sure you do the most recent one (I think its like a month old, theres many videos like it but the month old one not only its got updated stats, it also includes spotify streams + yt views + other streaming platforms)

"Idol" was the most streamed (Amazon, UA-cam, Spotify) music of its year according to Google (in the WORLD)
I highly recommend you check out the Full Music video for the Ending Song of Season 1!
"Mephisto" - Queen Bee
You should check out Yoasobi’s live performance of this song as well… it’s fire!
the lyrics of the Japanese ver is perfectly translated to English, so the English ver is exactly the same meaning as the Japanese ver
Well, almost. It is changed to flow better at certain parts. But as a whole, yeah it's pretty much a perfect translation.
The live version from Yoasobi is definitely worth the watch !!!
Every live version of yoasobi just takes the song into another level
According to garnt aka gigguk
Idol is now the weeb national anthem 😂❤
8:52 Ai is wearing the exact same clothes from that part from ep1 🥲
I love you two together as reactors, naturally gifted at commentary and charismatic together! Thank you for enjoying the same shows I do so I can enjoy your reactions to them!
The rabbit is a big theme in the music video because in Japanese the word for Rabbit (Usagi / Usa) sounds similar to the Japanese word for Lie (Uso).
you don't have to react , but check out the Live concert version. the intro is grand and epic, and you get to hear 100 thousand people chant "AI"
Best opening ever, the first japanese song worlwide view-wise!
Both the track and the lyrics are incredible, and the clip’s so catchy! And the fact she sung it in both languages…!
Definitely a fav ❤

Ai voice actor, Rie Takahashi sing "idol " cover song. That's also amazing.
Let's go, one of the best openings of the recent years
11:22 Baby don’t hurt me, don’t hurt me no more 🎶
Now you have to see the live version of the intro. Its even more amazing.
You should do the live version as well! One of the best live performances I´ve ever seen...
IM SO HAPPY WATCHING THIS HAHAHA i was at a cosplay event for halloween yesterday and saw their dad's cosplay XD
I love this song an Mv so much, kinda sad they didn't do the same with the Frieren Mv😢
Daym
Idol show so
日本語も英語ver.もどちらもしっかり韻を踏んでる✨二つの言語は語順が違うのに翻訳も上手く曲に馴染んでるのが素晴らしい🎵
Check Frieren's music video too, it's the same singer
This song reached number 1 on Billboards global top 100. First anime/jp song to do so I believe
yoasobi and oshi no ko are both popular af thats why the vid has many views
Rabbit in Japanese is usagi and uso also means lie - hence the rabbit
I thought it was more like "white rabbits are seem as a simbol of cuteness and innocence, and thats what Idols are expected to be, cute and inocent
So when she is on stage, she has to 'wear a white bunny costume' for the fans"
Also, 'Sagi' means fraud

first time I listend to the lyrics, was when I finished watching the first ep1.. the damage it did on me ☠☠
ナイスリアクションです😊👍
You should watch the top 100 most popular anime openings of all time
Yes pls
There's just so much foreshadowing INCLUDING the ending song Mephisto. If I say about it then it will give away what's going on right now.
please react to the live performance too, soo phenomenal
The Arena Tour Live version is insane
Watching an anime skipping the opening is a crime!! 😮
4:55 man youre in for a treat next season
Takahashi Rie (Ai's VA) did a cover singing and dancing as Ai. It's worth watch it.
^^^this
Opening reaction series would also be fantastic
Must try the live version
I really like your interpretation of the opening visuals, I think you really hid the nail there.

Wait... What? You haven't posted the S1 EP11 finally yet.
Probably pantreon exclusive for now
Translyric a song is a whole another level of translating language.

Ngl you guys are talking too much, not listening to the song 😅
Just commenting on the video, no hate anyways, like
