Thank you so much for your videos! I’m an RN but reviewing some concepts that I may not have reviewed in the last few years, and I really appreciate that you explain the “Why.” I have trouble remembering things just for the sake of remembering them, if I don’t understand why it’s important to remember that concept in the first place! I’ve watched videos on a few channels but yours was the first to explain a little more in-depth about WHY things are the way they are.

I'm studying the effects of magnesium on muscle relaxation and hydration. My understanding is that magnesium is a co-factor for enzyme action at the cell wall, facilitating or rather regulating the sodium-potassium pump. I can see magnesium's role in ATP production, used in the sodium-potassium pump, but can't find any other mention of magnesium action or regulation of the sodium-potassium pump. How does it work?
As a massage therapist, I have first hand experience with people who are presumably deficient in magnesium, with muscles that palpate similar to bone. I have also seen the dramatic effect that recommended daily intake of magnesium (420mg for men, 320mg for women - elemental) can have, with a change in muscle tone to something mushy and jelly like within a relatively short period of time.
I have seen some suggestion that magnesium assists with the sodium-potassium pump to shift water into the cell as K+ is pumped inside, but again, I haven't heard any formal description of this. Can you please describe how magnesium assists with hydration at a molecular level?

Inside of the cell is more negative because when potassium leaves the cell it leaves negatively charged amino acids. Potassium is bound to negatively charged amino acids in the cell. But it leaves amino acids that's why inside of the cell is more negative than outside of the cell
