Very nice. I remember I sat out late once and man it was tough. Lake was rough as the ocean but once I found camp the night was so amazing. Paddling in the dark is a trip, but it was amazing. I love this video man. Thank you for posting

I agree with your, 'leave no trace'. My friend and I recently paddled the River Stour, starting at Grove Ferry and picked up all the floating bottles, cans and litter while our on the water, not only did we leave the water cleaner than we found it, the cafe at Grove Ferry gives a free tea and coffee to reward your litter picking efforts. Next time we will take litter pickers and a net bag to make it easier.

Great video! I’m going SUP camping in a few months and this video was helpful, especially the link to the 30L dry bag.
Thanks so much. That dry bag is perfect because it comes with the lashing straps and it's also really well put together. I use it for all my outdoor stuff now, not just paddling.

Very interesting, I was curious to see if the extra weight would make the board unstable.
I suppose it is no different than having a child, or a dog, sitting on the front of the board.

Thanks! I bought this stove years ago in a camping shop in Kingston that's not there anymore, can't even remember what make it is. But if you're looking for something similar, I might be replacing mine soon with a Lixada titanium wood and alcohol stove. It's the same thing but much lighter, and it has a dedicated shelf for an alcohol stove. Under 30 quid too, a bargain
Fabulous quality content as usual Steve. If you had to choose one what would it be: your ITIWIT x500 drop-stich kayak or the paddle board? I have the x500 and think it's great except it is a faff to fold after a day on the water. However I have just bought the x100 SUP as well and await delivery. Again Thames and South Coast venues.
Thanks! If I had to choose between the two I'd take the X500 because I know I could do multi-day long distance touring in it, even in the autumn and winter.
You're right though, it does take more prep and is less mobile. The SUP is just so easy

Problem with this recent hot weather is the amount of water to take. That could overload it (especially with booze as well 😂).
Totally with you on the hammock. I prefer it to a tent as well.

Thanks Lyndon, it was surprisingly stable even with water on it. It was an incredibly calm day though, so might be a bit different in windy conditions!
I'm not sure how far I could go on the SUP, I think I prefer the kayak for long distance. But that might be because I'm still new to SUP and haven't built up my pace yet

Yes I was figuring that. Very different posture to kayak. Ive not used a SUP so was just wondering. Oh yeah if its windy that could be an issue. Might be best to leave it for calm warm days. You don't want to be going over 😲.
I'll consider it though. Looks easier than lugging a kayak anyway. 👍
I want to do this but man in Texas it seems so difficult to find areas to legally camp that are primitive camp sites, I really don't want to have to be in an area near rv's or paved camp sites.

Q- Why do you wear a BUOYANCY AID in a Kayak but not a SUP? Love the vids! Keep them coming!
Thanks Ed! On the SUP I wear a waist belt bouyancy aid, which you pull a string to inflate when needed. These make it easier to climb back onto the board if you fall in.
In a kayak the vest type pfd is better because a waist one would restrict your movement while paddling.
I also do long distance in the kayak and my pfd has loads of pockets and a water bladder etc

Seems a good way to try different paddling spots without the faff of the car. The board looks good - in hindsight could you have carried enough stuff for say 2 nights?
Based on this trip I reckon I could add another 5l dry bag for extra food and snacks and stretch it to two nights.
The hot and dry weather meant I could take less too, had no warm change of clothing with me!
As long as you stick within the recommended weight payload for the board it's fine.
You could probably carry a lot more than that even. Might be a good idea for a video to do some test runs with more and more gear until it becomes unstable. It would be great to know just how much we could carry

Inspired by Stevie (probably from the early Thames videos and now this) I did my first sup camping two day trip. I packed what I needed into a 100ltr and 40ltr dry bags based on what I thought I needed not weight. The bags weighed 10kg each. I am 118kg on a board that states it can carry 150kg so my total was 138 of 150kg. It was a little more tippy but not too bad. I had an amazing time. It was a campsite stop not wild but it was a pub on the riverbank and I’m claiming that as a win for my first go.
