My full review of the Logitech G29 Mods - ua-cam.com/video/-Y78aqRsYck/v-deo.html
Best mod i did with the logitech was buying a thrustmaster
Hahahahahaha same!
So true hahahahaha 😂😂😂
If you already have a g923 or g920 don’t upgrade to a thrust master lol go for a better rig.
@@Brooks726 sure if you wanna spent 5K for a basic Rig from fanatec xD
@@mrh6352 5k? They have ready to run direct drive for under 800 wheel and pedals that’s their basic rig
Subtitles are a good addition! Keeps the flow of the video fast and interesting.
Thanks!
Bought them all, as well as the force feel magnetic shifter mod. Very enjoyable and not very expensive to boost the experience to the next level. Worth the effort of swapping the wheel hands down(I play f1 games primarily so I leave the wheel on constantly)
Not complaining or calling you a big bad for replacing your wheel, just adding onto this. Personally I wouldn't replace the wheel because I play alot of drift-based simracers, so I need a more circular wheel. :)
@@scarecrow5848amazon has cheap rims for 45-60 dollars u can swap to with a 50 dollar adapter i have a deep dish on mine and it works good for the price its alot better than the plastic one it comes with
What’s the shifter mod? Is that for the paddles I guess?
For the price of them parts you can just upgrade to a t300rs gt. I had the g29 and it was a great entry level wheel. But not worth modding. Ok the t300 is a little step up. But worth the money over the mods with interchangeable wheels on the t-series servos
Exactly this. Sometimes its better to invest in a semi proffesional setup since the G29 base will dissapoint over time.
Except MVH now has a quick change setup now.
Couldn't agree more. For the same price you could go belt driven or even direct drive that would destroy logitech in terms of build quality and ffb
God i wish i woulda just bought a T300 instead if my G29.
@Popcorn that's what I'm doing
I've 3d printed my mods for my old G29, but now that I have upgraded to Fanatec, I'm so much happier to feel a stable steering wheel made from steel and not from plastic. The only thing left to upgrade is the rig.
You can mod your shifter into a sequential / ebrake and there's an awesome inversion kit that mimicks load cell. Swapping wheel for a gt style rim is nice too (there's also adapters for real wheels for rally/ drifting)
I used longer screws and Rubber Bands :D
Loving these shorts!
Thanks 👊
Unless you genuinely love the way the g29/g920 feels and you’re planning on sticking with it, I wouldn’t mod it. The biggest thing with swapping the wheel is weight change and diameter differences. The g920 rim diameter is 10.24” and weighs about 1.08lbs. The buttons/controller weigh around 0.55 ounces. Most drift wheels are about 13” and change the way the ffb feels and the weight can cause your wheel to heat up easier. Just keep that in mind but f1 wheels and similar wheels won’t affect it much at all. If you are trying to get into drifting or have a serious ffb feel, I wouldn’t go with this wheel. It only has 2.2nm of torque which isn’t really enough for drifting, it’s possible just aggravating at times due to too much ffb clipping and how unrealistic it feels if you slide irl (y’all know how hard a real car can whip a wheel lock to lock). Just save up and I promise it’ll be much more worth it coming from experience. It’s a good beginner wheel if you don’t want to spend a lot of money but don’t expect the same performance as a Direct Drive. FYI these line of wheels are extremely loud
I hope this helps👍
@@Kapsiizewhat are some larger wheels on the market
Woah definitely gonna do this. Thanks man, you're videos are great.😊
❤️
Please do yourself a favor and don't waste your money on expensive things like this and just get a thrust master wheel that is miles better and for around the same price
Nice. I purchased a 45$ hydro brake for a car on eBay then attached a switch on the side nearest me behind where the slider bolt slides, filled it with water, wrapped the slider bolt in tape, attached one of my soldered wires to the switch and ziptied the other to the slider bolt and when I pull the embrace it makes contact and completes the circuit and activates the button it’s soldered to in the wheel. I used the r3 button on my wheel since it had the easiest solder points. I then added 2 inch thick and wide by various lengths for each pedal of memory foam and fed it inside the springs. Most in brake. Making the experience requiring much more effort. It’s nice being able to kick your brakes as hard as you can when circuit racing. Stress reliever.
I have actually done that second mod. I have a magnetic phone mount on my G29, and a SIMDashboard app. I can use my phone as a gauge cluster.
What name of the app?
@@ammarzz412 SIMDashboard. Yes, that's the name of the app.
i went from logitech to fanatec to vrs. now i have a vrs pro and love it.
I'm also looking for a mod for my g29. I think I will mod it with either thrustmaster or fanatec.
best mod that i made to my logitech g920 that i bought a moza r5 then r9
I'm really liking your review style, recently ordered the hifiman edition xs from amazon for $379 new. Coming from the HD600 with modi/magni schiit stack. Looking forward to a new experience 👍
I was gonna buy this or a Thrustmaster set up. Ended up buy a 370z and a fanatec set up a few months later
the TrueBrake mod made me a believer, though it's a bit more involved than replacing the spring in the brake pedal. I'll probably keep rocking these pedals if I replace the wheel itself with something DD thanks to it.
thanks for this! Ill consider giving it a go
Hey man! Amazing upgrades and great shots! I just wanna say, when you script read you tend to end every statement like a question with raising your pitch. I bet if you ended certain statements with a downward tone, it would be a lot more powerful. Keep it up homie!
Still have a really weak wheel with all those addons, could upgrade for a Tx-t300
Or a use TS-xw. tS-pc
In good shape even a use fanatec csl elite if lucky
I upgrade from thrustmaster
TMX(g920 equivalent)
To TX (was amazing for the price
Then a purchase a ts-xw and sold my tx to a friend
Each upgrAde was freaking amazing
For the price of upgrading your Logitech toys you can buy a Fanatec or Moza DD but the most important upgrade is pedals I got the VRS DFP 3 pedal set and it was a game changer compared to V3s
got this one aswell !! feels sturdy but definitely gets weaker by time…
I added all the items to my cart, laughed then bought a direct drive wheel.
Feelin good with the recent price drops... me too lol, should've just waited lol.
with the current prices of direct drive from brands like moza, i have a really hard time recommending anything else.
i used to recommend the Logitech stuff for people who where on a super tight budget (anything cheaper then the Logitech stuff really aint worth it and is basically just ewaste from the moment you buy it), a thrustmaster setup if they had the budget for it, and if money wasn't a issue at all then spend the big bucks on a direct drive setup.
but for $500 you can have a direct drive setup these days, so spending $300-$400 on a Logitech or Thrustmaster setup just aint worth it these days.
@@originalkhawk Im looking to get my first wheel and thats what I was thinking, id rader spend a couple hundred more on a CDL DD than on the t300
I did loads of mods top my G29 and nothing you do to it makes it feel any more than a toy at best and later was able to buy a DD wheel that works out less than I spent on my G29 and all diffrent kinds of mods, just DONT waste money modding the G29/920 or G923 as its litrally wasting money in 2023
@@originalkhawk never reccomend the t300 wheel base as I have had to repare them loads and they are built super cheap on the inside and have huge desighn flaw because of to much use of plastic parts that get destroyed beyound repare if the greese on the steering shat dries out, if that happens the metal shat will start to eat up the plastic gears meaning the wheel will start failing to calibrate and basically be ewaste
You just blew my mind
🥳
Honestly i don't see the point in modifying the rim with expensive options as the original one is pretty much okay for practically all uses, the telemetry is a cool thing to have ngl, the brake pedal is just wrong, all the bumpers, stoppers, springs they sell you don't improve your braking that much as the data in the pedal set is still provided by this crap position based potentiometer logitech are using, i would recommend checking truebrake from axcsim if you want real braking improvement, and you could have added some cool mods like magnetic paddles, it is always nice to have that clicky feeling while switching gears, you also have a stiffer rubber spring available on custom sim shop for your H pattern shifter way better than the 3d rap option that constantly breaks and feels clunky.
Most guys out here arguing over logitech vs Thrustmaster
I have a g920 (modded a lil bit) and everytime i think about thrustmaster, this video comes up in my head of a t150 going up in smoke after playing forza horizon 4...
😁👍🏼
Any option for actual race car brake pedal? Race car brake pedals remove all travel (usually not power boosted) and replace with a load cell to detect /force/ not distance.
Race car drivers modulate pedal /effort/ not position. Check it out!
Replaced my brake with a load cell. Easily the best G29 mod. Next step is DD wheel.
Can I get more information? I'm a noob haha. First day sim racer today. Got a complete g29 with seat for $250.
@@motavice3499 UA-cam doesn't let me link external websites, but if you google ''Truebrake G29'', you'll find the mod that I got. It's very easy to install, and dramatically improved my consistency under braking. Congratz on your purchase! That sounds like a very good deal. I have since switched to more high-end gear, but the G29 was a great way to get into Simracing. Enjoy your simracing journey!
I have a similar setup. It’s called a Toyota Avalon XLS 2004. 360° of view, and textures are extremely realistic.
I’ve never liked the brake feel, thank you
Did you take the rubber thing out or just get the new spring with the rubber still inside? Or did u do both? Ik this is random srry lol
@@Juiceisbetterthanmilk I just took the rubber thing out, it’s not fun as trying to mash the brake like a real car but I just could never get to 100% without it sliding
@@Laying_Bricks thanks!
I'm happy with my csl élite 😎
for me the best mod was the brake mod by 3Drap. felt amazing
I honestly don’t understand people’s issue with the g920 brake pedal. People say it’s too soft? I think it resembles real car brakes pretty damn well. Kinda soft loose at first. Then you get the hard puck of rubber which actually feels decent imo..
I’d rather not mess about with the wheel.
But the shifter mod on the other hand yeh.
If you wana use a different wheel I would recommend looking at the.
Thrustmaster TX
OR
Thrustmaster TS-XW
For the brake pedal, theres a rubber piece in the spring. Take it out, its way better
Thanks for sharing!
I put a load cell in my logi pedals. MUCH better. Heel/Toe is much better now.
I’m new to sim racing and want to jump right in but the after market on used sim wheels and pedals is ridiculous like dude you’ve done mashed on the gas and brakes down to damn near dust and yet you want me to pay almost full price for a wheel and pedal set you done damn near killed already like let’s be honest here I won’t be the one to almost fully fund your upgrade so ima save my Pennie’s and buy new I can’t wait to get my first rig 😎🤙🏾
Thanks for the video
You got a loicense for that mate
Greatest mods the driver mod, and i enjoy seeing people using their G27s still and obliterating club races
You could buy a second hand belt driven set-up for half of the money this would cost you and it would literally be twice as good.
best upgrade for a logitech wheel, is a moza wheel setup
Those kart boots with the standard g29 brakes seems like an over kill
Don't just change the spring, get a Truebreak V2. Or better yet, as others have mentioned just upgrade to a better wheelbase. The G29 isn't worth modding, it's a great beginners wheel but trying to mod it is a false economy.
Yeah the centerspring is a bitch because it makes the logitech wheel have a mind of ot own when turning just slightly on fh5 at 40+ mph
That spring mod would work on a g27 too I would assume I'm still rockin it back when a 6 speed manual wasn't a optional extra
For everyone saying you can get DD for the dame price as the Logitech youre wrong. My G923 cost 280 woth the shifter. A fanatec or moza 2 pedal setup with no shifter is $450 minimum.. add a clutch pedal, shifter, and mounting hardware for the wheel and shifter you can add an extra $250 easy.. so $280 or $600 + ..
best mod i did was upgrade to a moza r5
😂
@@GeekStreetwhy you laughing!? You're reviewing a cheap crappy wheel? 😂 Mozo r5 slaps.
Sim racers when giving advice to new players: "Don't buy a Logitech, buy a Thrustmaster, but actually that's only a bit better so go buy a belt driven wheel, actually those ones are too loud so buy direct drive, actually just get Fanatec CSL, also you want load cell, you know what just sell an arm and a lung."
😳🤔🙉🙈
@@GeekStreetAh, it's not slander. I respect Logitech and Thrustmaster for finally getting into the direct drive market. Also, there are wiper and signal stalks that you can mod to your wheel, but I don't know what games would make use of them.
@@aidancommenting BeamNg.drive is the only one that comes to mind. I like to just cruise in that game. Or modded AC
@@aidancommentingets2 uses both
Are you plainly difficult? The UA-cam channel. Not an insult
😳🤔 No
currently i suggest people to directly upgrade to a moza r5
This stuff is so cool, and I could easily afford a pretty nice setup. But I just know I'd drop like 5 grand, get it all set up, play it for an hour the first day, then it would rot in the corner over the next decade.
Cheap upgrade, buy a 3 pack of jaw exercise rubbers and use 2 of them inside brake and clutch pedals.
After 3 years with the g29 I'm thinking about getting a fanatec csl dd
Save your money on mods and just get a Direct Drive wheelbase :)
I'm trying this.
👍
Blew my mind.
Thinking of modding my g29 to see if it really improves the product then I'm upgrading to the pro wheel
Throw Logitech In the trash and go with a real sim racing brand.
Great vid
Like sprinkling gold dust on a turd 😂
this is why i wish i got a thrustmaster instead of a logitech because all these mods take so damn long to do plus those add on wheels don’t come in at a friendly price
I’m getting a PXN Gaming Racing Wheel V9 Xbox Steering Wheel 270/900° Car Simulation with Pedal and Shifter, Paddle Shifters Driving Wheel for PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Switch and yes I copied and pasted
Does the telemetry display work on ps4
I actually just opened my g29 to fix a high pitch squeaking noise, I opened it, lubricated the motors, closed it, realised I forgot to put that thin piece of plastic that separates two pieces back in, opened it, put it in. and when I tried to put the three long tight screws back into the wheels shaft, one of them stripped, for some reason they were way harder than normal to put in, my hand actually still hurts the next day, I got two of them in at least, only problem being that I can’t fit the wheel to the base.
When your screwing into plastic turn it the other way(left/ loosen) till you feel the screw drop into the threads then you can screw in like normal. Just don't put too much pressure on the back of the screw at least for the first couple turns Your trying to get it to go into the existing threads If you put too much pressure or just start at a random spot you'll most likely cut new threads wich is what sounds like you did. that's why it was way harder than normal cuz you were making new threads
@@TheRivalryDrifting yeah, i figured i did something like this, honestly i had already spent so much time on it, I just got a bit impatient, and instead of pulling it out as soon as it didn't feel right, ii just kept going, partly because i thought, if the screws gonna strip i might as well get it all the way in before then, but obviously the screw was stripping from user error LOL
The thing with these mods is they cost so much but fix none of the problems that just buying a new wheel that wasn't designed 10+ years ago with a new face slapped on it does
Plus the pedal failure rate is horrendous, but by time you've modded them it would have been cheaper to buy literally professional grade pedals seperately
And the shifter just...can't be fixed, it doesn't hold absolutely anything against shifters like the TH8A which last so incredibly much longer and don't wear out for a long time
Safe every coin up for a Directdrive and the day you get it mark my words Are You Feeling It Now Mr. Krabs?
Is the g29 is good for sim racing and drifting as a first wheel?
i need thw red bull wheel to match my redbull sim cockpit 💫💫🔥
Can you do a video on how to mod the thrustmaster t248 by any chance??
Bro is sim racing on Forza Horizon, your class must have had a helmet policy 💀
or just spend that money on morza r3 direct drive with loadcell brake setup
Best mod is not wasting you money and buying a used csl dd or a new one
Might aswell ugrade the insides og the wheel
I would hope so for the price of that thing!!
Where did you get the Telemetry display from
No hate towards you at all, but it’s getting kinda frustrating seeing that everyone agrees the brake sucks. But everyone has a different solution. The two solutions I saw before this was to remove the rubber entirely, and or add an eraser on top of the rubber piece. Now this one says change the spring and don’t touch the rubber lol.
I hate to say it but my wheel broke 2 weeks after owning it. I hadn’t abused it much or use ffb. When I play a game with ffb it’ll grind and jump around. Without ffb it’s fine, but it sucks
amasin vid, where can i find the links?
I already have an f1 wheel mod with bandage cover
The g series wheels arent worth modding at that point just upgrade to a belt drive
Don't modify the Base. Just sell.
And buy brake load cell!
Eraser in the brake pedal
Nice
best mod was buying a moza, the mods are cool but doesnt make the force feedback any better
so sick
Thanks!
Can you put a normal car steering wheel on
What’s better Pxn or Logitech G923
Logitech G923
Imagine having a nice wheel on THAT wheelbase, oh gosh.
What game is in the background you playing
Are there any telemetry displays for the G Pro DD wheel out yet?
Sadly I had to use warranty on mine because it was slightly broken and it got trashed. My brake pedal was stuck at 5 percent. I didn't get a new one because it was on sale when I bought it. Its now too expensive.
Idk if in 2024 but can you make a dfgt (driving force gt logitech) mod?
I did this cool mod where I sold my g29 and bought a thrustmaster
😳
When I had a steering wheel I remeber my pedals kept moving every time I pressed them
can 3d print a quick release connector
Don't do that save up for a belt driven wheel cuz it has more power its faster and it isn't as noise as the gear driven from logitech.
I feel like if the wheel is heavier than stock. It will affect the force feed back as its only 2nm?
Do you need a spacer
just grind out the money at work and save up for something nice like a fanatec or moza. Might take weeks, might take months, but Its well worth the money. Get some experience with the shit so you can appreciate the gold when you can get it.
