I love how these movies make me believe that a guy like john wick can actually exist.
Its somehow NOT ridiculous to me that he can just walk up to a place, kill 50 men singlehandedly, complete his task and walk away a living man.
It’s a movie about Keanu Reeves killing people for 2 hours. How can you not love it?
Not enough pencils?
Ex-cuse me, this movie it's not about Keanu Reeves killing people, it's about Keanu Reeves killing people in the most epic way possible.
Pacifist?
I dont
true
John Wick 1 was more... emotionally driven, but ended on a high note, hence why the movie's box art was mainly blue.
John Wick 2 was just fun... until the end where he lost and now is on the run. Hence why chapter 2 is a black and RED theme.
Blue = Wick winning
Red = Wick losing
Why is Chapter 3 purple?
Its a mix of the two to represent the uncertain fate that awaits for John Wick.
Epic.
About the colors, he even said it in the first CinemaWins John Wick video
Never noticed that color detail about the movies poster. When comes to color symbology, it always to double meaning. For example, blue means sadness but also coldness.
Red usually associated with blood, violence and death. Or usually emotions such as anger.
Also, John Wick 3 is on my Birthday :3
@@HazeAbysmal Have you seen Movies with Mikey's video on John Wick 1-2? Don't want to spoil you in case you want to watch them, but he draws some amazing parallels between both movies and their overall tones.
Also, purple is the royal color. So maybe he gets the target off his back by becoming the head of the continental?
7:40 I think you missed a win, where her arms and bloodstains form red wings in the water. Add this to, along with the colour schemes, the way shots constantly frame John with wings behind him as he walks or circles above or behind his head and it really builds on what you said about him in the first movie: that to the underworld, he is the literal Angel of Death.
i always thought it formed a red dress when i saw it the first time

The scene in the beginning of the movie where John is sitting in the basement while the cement dries and we think he’ll finally have a moment peace to only hear the door bell (Santino) is also amazing. He literally just buried his old life to have it come knocking on his front door moments after.
That's exactly what they intended to show - materialized metaphor.
you missed my fav. detail: covering his face with his jacket to avoid the muzzle flash in the darkness, ruining his night-vision.
And covering his face because the jacket is bullet resistant..
Nice
13:30 he's actually checking if the round proerly chambered because not every weapon has perfect enfineering like Germany or Austria, so making sure the round is in there is a safe and smart move.
It’s called a press check. Older 1911s especially kimbers have a chance to miss the first round due to tension in the magazine. This is subverted either by leaving one round out or the press check to ensure it picked up the first round and not slip over it.
Side note, how many world wars did that German/Austrian engineering win?
@@joshuamarshalljr.5178 was not factoring in wars...just general engineering like the Glocks, Sigs and USPs.
Thanks for the firearm education by the way.
@@joshuamarshalljr.5178 I love when people leave cool bits of information like this in comments
@@joshuamarshalljr.5178 Come on man...us Americans get enough trouble these days.
I suppose the American engineering of the 1911 won WW2? Throughout most of WW1 and WW2 our standard infantry soldier was not issued a sidearm. Now if they came up with one at some point ok...but they were not issued one. Serg and up generally had one as well as Officers. Certain types of units were also issued sidearms such as the Rangers...which is why you always see them in the movies as the movies hardly ever follow the schmuck lowly infantry.
The 1911 barely played a role in WW2. If anything you might credit the Garand with winning the war...but he was Canadian. Perhaps the designer of the Sherman...with all the parts in that tank you end up with 10 different countries playing a role in it's design (or at least the guys were from that many countries).
Oddly enough German nor Austrian engineering won a war and they for damn sure didn't lose either war. Nor did Japanese, Russian or American engineering win or lose either war.
In both cases it was quite simply America and the Allies being able to out produce the Axis in both wars. Combine that with the biggest problem the Axis had in both wars....manpower and they were destined to lose both wars.
@@kevinyoung5728 Yeah yeah I’m tracking my guy, most soldiers during ww1-2 that were issued side arms were rear elements and they received little to no training with them. Didn’t mean any harm by it friend just a little shit talkin

Honestly, if the way you describe why John Wick says to Santino "My hands." is true, it is a callback in my opinion.
Santino was excited about how John could kill him because he loved the idea of "The Boogeyman" who can kill anyone with anything, like a murderish macgyver. However in the hotel he believed either John would kill him with his hands and he'd have time to get away or that he wouldn't in the hotel. He just, gravely misunderstood John's actual point.

Dude, I LIKE that you're knowledgeable about guns. That's refreshing.
Not really. There are no such things as silencers. They're called supressors. And they are least 10 times as loud, then it shown in Hollywood films. Anybody who's calling them silencers, have no idea, what they are talking about. Don't take it the wrong way, I like the video, but it's just hurts my ears. And btw, if you wanna use supressor, you also need to use subsonic rounds, which are moving slower then the normal rounds.

seriously? who dafuq DOES THAT???
John wick is kind of like the fight club for this generation. All the dude bros love it for the badass aspects while also appealing to the film nerds for all its depth and symbolism.
I'm not sure it appeals to the "dudebros", Keanu Reeves as John Wick isn't the stereotypical "alpha male" action hero (think Arnie in Predator or Terminator, or anything Fast & Furious). He just wants to be left the fuck alone and live normal, boringly routine life, but he won't take shit when push comes to shove. And while it's a bit over the top at times, it's also strikingly more realistic than the run-off-the-mill spectacular action movies that will do retarded shit just to be more cinematic, and ends up being a lot classier for it
When it comes to action movies, John Wick is basically the M-B AMG C63 S coupé to F&F's Chevy Camaro
I loved the "suiting up" scene (as it were) and the one with the silencers was so ridiculous but so cool to watch

The Sommolier reminds me of Dr. Octopus's role in the movie Vice, where he plays a waiter in a single scene,,, which just happens to be another metaphorical scene. Sommolier here is talking about wine when he's really talking about guns. In Vice, Dr. Octopus plays a waiter discussing the menu with a table of customers when in reality the menu is full of shady stuff the customers (high profile politicians) plan to do.
In EGA John Wick 1, you mentioned the body shots right before a headshot on the large guy who steps out of the pool as John is aiming at Iosef and I choose to believe that coincides with one of my favorite things about these movies and, I think, why Wick is such an immensely successful assassin. He very often (not always) fires incapacitating shots first and then either kills that person or holds them while he kills someone else and then finishes the first target. He doesn't always need to prioritize someone else so it seems like bullets were wasted when he kills them right away anyway, be he was really just being prepared in case he needed to shift his focus.
As a gun guy, i really like how you pointed out some gun facts. Was something that most wouldn't have done, but at the same time helps explain some things and add to them with the addition of those facts.
Precisely, There are the details I notice whenever watching a film that has guns, theres so many films that could have been miles better if only they knew how guns worked, granted John Wick films definitely have a few things I would nit pick, they are definitely exceptions to the rule.
One of my favorite things is how they said they know the way John holds guns isn't proper but just done for an extra layer of flair without pulling an equilibrium
i never hold a gun in my life nor i know how them work..but i know that gun only have 5-20 ish bullet in it..but most of the movie ive seen like gun have infinite ammo😂😂.. even a drum megazine can hold 100+ bullet i presume😂

I'm a new viewer that started with the John Wick Chapter 1 video. These videos are beyond fantastic. I feel like I'm re-watching and re-enjoying the movie. Other "clip" shows are not as well produced as this. You get full sequences, spliced sequences that are related, artistic sequences, and more. The script is continually hilarious, interesting, educational, does not shy away from the use of intelligent language. Consider this an homage in thoroughness to the detail of your reviews. Or maybe I've been smoking something? Harder to joke with no tone or inflection, which you expertly navigate and edit nicely. I'm glad I stumbled across this channel from starting with a 10 time Keanu Broke the Internet (worth watching).
I also always love the actual reloads that’s always counting the rounds is that you fire it adds more realism to the action movie is well with you hardly seen any other action movie
Most people think aikido is mostly defensive but it works by breaking joints and taking your opponents weapon off them....often while using it on them. Surprisingly brutal and very Wickian
The subway scene might have been possible with sub-sonic rounds and a decent silencer. This accounts for the lack of the quick snap of a projectile going supersonic. Accounting for the general din of a subway station and apathy of strangers, its not that unrealistic.
Dude, I lost you after might have been possible
I remember the director saying they put that scene in because people are so apathetic on the NY Subway that you could get shot and die, but people would just look the other way and step around you.
The implication is that while people would notice a shootout on the Subway, nobody would react to it. It was basically very subtle satire.
Pistols are sub-sonic rounds anyway.
StevieSpain D only some but not most
Seeing Lucifer terrifed of John Constantine was a nice little add on to the beginning of the movie that always added a laugh when I watched it.
10:55 I believe 22LR suppressed will be really quiet especially with subsonic rounds, but even something like the AS Val which you really can't hear the report, you will still hear the bolt cycling so even if 22LR suppressed was near silent, you'd hear the slides pulling back and people WILL notice because that's still pretty loud.
John wick chapter 2 was done by the way every video game sequel should be made.

I'm Giving The Announcer +50 Wins For His Firearms Knowledge :)
Still called a suppressor a silencer more than once though.
@@SuperAllosaurusRex What I'm Talking About Is His Knowledge Of Stuff Like The Press Check, Training Stuff I Mean
@@SuperAllosaurusRex he's referencing what they're referred to in movies, besides even though theres no such thing as a "silence"er it's become pretty common slang for supressor
@@SuperAllosaurusRex That's the actual name. The device was patented in 1912 as "Silencer for firearms." Also, the term "suppressor" originally referred to a *flash* suppressor, which does not necessarily silence the gun.
@@madisonlink7141 Back then everyone's hearing was pure shit, so suppressors made guns quite for them.
What's even cooler about the concert playing in Rome, the first song is John's theme with lyrics put to it, which is really cool!
13:33 loved that pressure check
