Best Trivium song, from the best Trivium album. From melodic to brutal, nothing sounds forced or superfluous... vocal overlays, riffs, acoustic guitars, no overdrumming, no overharmonization... I love everything Trivium puts out, but I wouldn't have a trouble with Matt and the rest of the guys trying to emulate/recreate this kind of style and sound.

I have always found it hard to believe how underrated this album is
I believe their most underrated album is In Waves
Yeah, In Waves got a lot of criticism for not being Shogun 2, but IMO it is also among their finest releases. The Sin and the Sentence (their new album) is a wonderful return to form for Trivium. Give it a spin.
In any Trivium concerts, Ascendancy shirts are the most common.

Man what the fuck were these guys on making this album? Like literally every song is amazing. I usually only like at most 3 songs on an album.
This is still my favorite Trivium album. Fucking songwriting was on another level on this album. Anyone who says it sucks is fucking retarded!
I listened to this album what almost seemed like non-stop (maybe some Stabbing the Drama in there too) and I remember every damn song this many years later....and they are still just as fucking epic after all the years and albums after it. A classic in it's own time.

Despite many other songs from this album being more popular, this song and Declaration are actually my favorite lol. Obviously it's nigh impossible to resist Pull Harder on the Strings of your Martyr and A Gunshot to the Head of Trepidation, but Departure and Declaration are the most interesting to me. I feel like this song has the coolest vocal sections. Every part has unique and infectious vocal melodies.

I've always thought they have a really unorthodox way of writing riffs, they're very strange but they use the same methods a lot like lots of octaves and other melodies. They've always sounded a bit different to other metalcore type of bands

When they do this album live for the next tour, Corey will probably take over some of Matt's screaming parts. I'm fine with that. Corey has stepped his screaming up since matt blew his voice out. Plus different Matt scream, we'll see how it sounds live. I'm fucking stoked to hear Alex play this.

Fuckin song gets me NUCLEAR jack. My fire team used to listen to this album on our way to a conflict or just on a hot patrol in Afghanistan on my 2nd and 3rd deployments.
