Check out their Full Band Playthrough of "Awakening". You'll be glad you did. Amazing musicianship along with Britney Slaye's one of a kind vocals.
This song came out in 1988. I was a senior in high school. Fall just started and Metallica released thier first video EVER. Most bands relied heavily on MTV and videos to gain traction and fame. Metallica relied on word of mouth and live performances. They were blistering live. Big enough to headline an arena tour on thier own. This album blew up and caught the music industry by suprise. They were nominated by the Grammy Association for thier inaugural hard rock/ heavy metal category and asked to perform live on the show. I don't know if all this asshat pop stars and producers and actors in the front row had just never listened to Metallica. Definitely hadn't heard the song One. It started mellow like it does. When they got to the solo and last verse going full speed loud enough to make your ears bleed, by the time the song ended, the cameras looked across the front 3 rows. I swear to God there were 50 people with thier jaws on the floor LITERALLY looking like someone just threw a flash bang grenade in thier lap and melted thier face. IT WAS GLORIOUS!!!

The song is about veterans that come back from war all f***** up no legs no arms can't move "how can I live how can I die I'm trapped in myself my body is my holding cell" and the doctors won't kill him 🤷 it's a little dark different view on things. Did you do something different with your hair? Darker color maybe 😍 looking pretty 🔥🤷😂
"the video is low keyed freaking me out" . That is actually the point. This is from the story 'Johnny get your gun. The point is that this guy after being blown up from a land mine. Lost his arms, legs, eyes, mouth, hearing, etc. so not being able to communicate with anyone, he is in his own hell. His only way out was to nod his head in morse code to hopefully reach some one. And his message was please kill me. Was a classic book as well as a movie. It's kind of one of those things that if you had not read the book, or have seen the movie, some times don't get what this is about. Still though. I liked your take on this song.
Seen em live 3 times now and will see them headline 2 out of 4 nights in Sactown at the Aftershock festival. Never pass up an opportunity to see them live, worth every penny!

As I'm sure many have commented, yes they are still touring. Imagine, 40 years creating incredible heavy music & playing heavy music like this on a regular basis. And let's not forget this band has also performed with the San Francisco symphony orchestra TWICE. Oh yeah, also the only band that has actually performed on all 7 continents on the earth.
Once upon a time, there was a young soldier named.....lets call him ME. Me and his friends were all young soldiers that liked watching MTV in the barracks. MTV was music television, they played music videos. There were good times {headbangers ball}, and bad times {yo mtv raps}. Anyhow, many young soldiers could be found listening to many genres of music, singing along to their favorite songs whether other people wanted to hear them or not. But a strange thing happened when 'One' by Metallica played..... No matter the skin color, favorite genre, or rank.... Every mouth closed... Every ear listened... and Every eye was glued to the screen. You see, these young soldiers had chosen to serve their country. Maybe they thought about that a lot, maybe not. But, when this incredible song played, these young men took a few minutes to imagine themselves as the soldier in the video. Such 'pretty' music describing a nasty fact of life. After the video was over, some talked about it a little bit, but most pondered their mortality, drank some beer, and lined up their shot on the pool table. Remember, soldiers or otherwise, they were still young men. To this day, when I hear this song, I think about the friends and memories i made so long ago. Perhaps this song (or another) takes you back....somewhere. Enjoy the music, relive the memories, and live your life. THE END (?)
'Orion' is my favorite Metallica song. BTW you should check out the new Iron Maiden album, it came out this week. Very beautiful songs. The best ones in my opinion are 'Senjutsu', 'The Parchment' and 'Hell on Earth'
Video clips were taken from a movie which was based on a book called "Johnny Got His Gun" by Dalton Trumbo (if memory serves). I chose to read the book in 7th grade english class because of this video. Thank you "Head Bangers Ball", (back when MTV actually played music for all you youngsters out there). It's about a man who has his arms and legs and face blown off in a land mine in WWI. "Like a piece of meat that keeps on living..." Truly sheds light on the horrors of war. My Great GF was a Marine in WWI and was exposed to mustard gas in the trenches, can only imagine what that must have been like.
OMG cool I didn't know you did Metallica reactions too! I know you from the Angelina Jordan reactions and just found this! Haha thanks for helping me feel not alone that I like such diverse artists. Great that you liked this song! Been listening to Metallica since the 80s. Happy you're enjoying the ride with us. :)
The inspiration behind this song is the fictional novel and following movie "Johnny Got His Gun." Obviously, clips from the movie were used in the music video. The novel is written stream of thought style from Johnny's perspective for the most part, so VERY little punctuation. Nobody adds periods and commas to thoughts. So it can be a tough read even before the thematic elements. And yes, Johnny gets hit by a shell and loses his arms, legs, his jaw, his eyes, and his hearing. He is his own prison. It should be required reading. It'll change a person, it's that powerfully written.
Whether they heard a song or not...I think everyone knows Metallica. I think if someone told me they've never even heard of Metallica I would have to walk away in disbelief.

Yes, they are still performing, sadly mostly in Europe and South America. It also seems to me that you are disconnected and not understanding this song at all, it's about MORE than just the music, the music is a vehicle for a message and feeling, that with this song in particular never loses relevance to current events, even though the song was written over 30 years ago, the movie, Johnny got his gun, clipped in the video 50 years ago, and the book of the same name 82 years ago. This is about REAL pain of those that have served our country without question and what we do for or to them. The premise of the song is a guy who gets injured at war to the point he has no voice, no sight, no arms, no legs, just a consciousness trapped in a shell. Very creepy concept indeed. That's it Shea! Next Live stream we are fighting! lol, this song was always fun to play on guitar hero. I suggest "No Leaf Clover" next by Metallica ✌
Haha FIGHT IS ON!
It's No Leaf Clover but yes great song!
@@scottsumpter4789 Lol, Thanks for that. Stupid auto-correct -.-
First time scoping your channel. New sub. Metallica drew me here. I’d love to see you go down the Metallica rabbit hole. So many amazing songs.
Thanks so much for checking the channel out and subscribing! I’ll definitely have some more metal coming out this week!

Try WINTERSUN and their 'Sons of Winter and Sun' or 'Time'.
Sons of Winter and *Stars
They sure are still touring. I’m going to see them in Vegas in February. It’s a MUST DO to go see them while they still are around and killing it!! 🤘🏼🤘🏼
React them live. Metallica - Master of puppets live in Seattle 1989. Best concert ever recorded
Yes, they performed two nights ago! I saw this video on MTV when it debuted in 1989. Since then I've been a big fan. Saw them last in concert with my 12 year old daughter nearly front row standing in front of the stage in 2018.
I’ll tell you how, by playing sick ass notes
Yeah, people need to appreciate these reaction vids, these people are capturing their first experience hearing or seeing new material and greatly expanding their horizons in doing so. It's awesome and it takes guts to freely display your first time reactions. Not a lot of people can do this so freely.
Metallica is highest level of music.
slipknot is higher
@@kimpavfx hahhah slipknot, seriously???
Rush is better imo. So is Dream Theater
@@kimpavfx No. not at all
@@krazzko what do you listen to? limp bizkit?
I still listen to this song regularly, ONE of my old favorites. Another band that will get your blood pumping and make you want to run headlong into battle is Unleash the Archers. Check out their Full Band Playthrough of "Awakening". You'll be glad you did. Amazing musicianship along with Britney Slaye's one of a kind vocals.
I bet you'd really like Jinjer - check out their song Teacher Teacher!
Recién te encontré, siempre es bueno ver a gente reaccionando a Metallica, lo disfrutas tanto como, así que me suscribo. 🤗
They are playing shows in Pittsburg and Boston this summer. I will be attending both. Can’t wait
If you like long lead guitar solos you absolutely HAVE to check out Lynyrd Skynyrd's live version of Freebird.
Three masters of the axe all at once!
love that guitar solo
Metallica:
"Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech, taken my hearing
Taken my arms, taken my legs..."
Author: "It`s so gooooood)))"
oh hell yes!!! please check out more metal!!
You got it dude!
I´ve been a fan since 1991, after hearing their songs Enter Sandman and Nothing Else Matters.....i had heard their songs earlier but didn't get into them until 1991....joined the sub club, yes they still play live man if i lived hear you i´d to see Metallica with you, but i live in Denmark
Love the ladies in my life. Love you young people for taking the time to react. Thank you for listening to us "olds" and our culture. love you young people!
I'm going to see them twice this weekend! Flying all the way from Alaska to Florida for it!
Metallic "wherever I may roam" , Jinjer "home back" , Metallic " sanatorium " . Those are just a few from a 52 old head banger.
The thing on he's head is an old Ether mask, for sedation, they put droplets from a pippet on the mask, old times sedation ;)
You should react to sad but true by Metallica next but there’s a lot of other good Metallica songs it’s hard to choose. But I’m gonna list them all.

Metallica saved my life! Thank you for this!
This song gets to me still to this day.
I obsolubely would love take you to go see them live i already saw them live twice and they sound incredible.
They play this at every show. I’ve seen them front row 14 times.
This song is definitely a jam and a head banging one at that. It's my favorite Metallica song by far.
THE END (?)
Legend has it that Metallica has lyrics with powerful messages.... Shea: i really like the bam bam whatawawwwa, ding dong boom!
'Orion' is my favorite Metallica song. BTW you should check out the new Iron Maiden album, it came out this week. Very beautiful songs. The best ones in my opinion are 'Senjutsu', 'The Parchment' and 'Hell on Earth'
Battery Live in Seattle 1989 is such an amazing performance!
Seen them 3 times so far, don't know if they are playing this year or not, best concerts I have ever been to
😹😹😹😹CHINESE FOOD BOX ON HIS FACE..YO I KNOW THIS SHIT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SERIOUS BUT THAT SHIT WAS FUNNY
YOU WILL LOVE THIS ONE !!!:
metal band with female vocalist and really good music videos
IN THIS MOMENT - The In Between
IN THIS MOMENT - Big Bad Wolf
i dont get why you would pause such a masterpiece to comment on it . just listen to it in silence and your facial expressions will tell us enough
Woah that was cool music! Awsome reaction once again🔥🙂🔥
Greatest Metal band from this side of the pond
Excellent reaction!!!
I saw them in concert in 1989 in Cleveland Ohio the and justice for all tour. Great time! Awesome reaction
Welcome Home(Sanatorium)
Happy Halloween!!!

That’s just the tip of the iceberg lol.
Thank you!! I just screenshotted this so I’ll be posting some more this week!
@@SheaWhatNow hell yeah! Enjoy! I know I will!
Yeah in that order. But don't do live, do studio versions with lyrics overlay, focus on the themes
@@ooloncolluphid360 I would agree with doing the studio version first, but once you’ve listened to it I would suggest checking out the Seattle 89 show live or the Moscow 91 show. Also, I prob should’ve included Enter Sandman on this list, but that’s the opening song at Moscow. 1.6 million people!
Just thought I would point that out and request Five Finger Death Punch, Wrong Side of Heaven official video.
Yes they're they're playing down here in Florida at Daytona beach nov.11 .
Every single reactor besides you: Crying
SheaWhatNow: Ooh, it's Chinese Takeaway Box-man. Been there! Okay, enough about him, time for some MUSIC!
- I love it
Have you ever heard of HEROES DEL SILENCIO?
They are a true Gem of a Band and the most famous Rock band from Spain and for good reason.
Hardly anyone seems to know them in the English speaking world, which is such a shame! The singer has a very expressive baritone voice.
Check out 'El espiritu del Vino' for starters- their best album imo.
I wonder if it's about to go down? Is it about to go down? Hey, does anyone think it's about to go down? Man, I sure think it might be about to go down. About to go down... about to go down... about to go down... it's about to go down.
I’m a huge METALLICA fan and this one of my top ten songs from them. You should also listen with your reaction with these songs, Master of Puppets, Fade to Black, Halo on Fire.
i know you were jamming to the sound but this song is really deep and really sad. this song is about a soldier that lost arms legs hearing and speaking and is suffering while kept alife by doctors he cant let them know hes in pain except for the sos where he says kill me. and they dont.
😂 I did a mini spit take to the Chinese takeout box comments. My dog's looking at me like I'm an insane aqua breathing dragon
The premise of the song is a guy who gets injured at war to the point he has no voice, no sight, no arms, no legs, just a consciousness trapped in a shell. Very creepy concept indeed.
Metallica still tours, I've seen them only 7 times now, the most recent on Sept 11, 2018. They are INCREDIBLE live. Definitely see them if you get any chance.
A great video/song for you to check out is Jinjer - Pisces (live session) Has to be the live session. Try not to reference the band in any way before seeing it. It will blow your mind! 🤘🏻
great to see the smile spread across your face, good song
The movie clip is from Johnny got is guns , and tell the story of a soldier that lost is limbs voice and and earing from stepping in a landmine , take a peek at fade to black that song is a kick in the back but more melodic and got one of the best SOLOS of all time
