It's so hard to imagine that anyone hasn't heard Metallica. Next year will be their their 40th anniversary. I sure hope you guys will explore some of their massive discography, starting from the early albums, especially Ride the Lightning and Master of Puppets. They were the metal band that every other band wanted to be in the 80's, but nobody really came close.
I remember seeing this video as a young man. The awesome of the jam, the passion in the guitar rifts. Metallica felt every word to its message. I made sure my family knew if machines were keeping me alive, please, show one last time that they love me, turn them off and let me go home.
This song was not made for a movie. The movie is called Johnny Got His Gun and came out in the late 60's. It was an anti war movie. It's about a man that goes to war and gets hit by a bomb. When he wakes he finds out that he has no arms, no legs, can't speak, can't hear, and can't talk. He's trying to tell the people to kill him. And he remembers his dad telling him to communicate by banging his head and doing SOS. This song came out in the late 80's.
Fun Fact: "One" was the first Metallica song for which a music video was created; it debuted on on Headbanger's Ball, a late night heavy metal show on MTV on January 20, 1989.
They also released 3 albums before this, during the height of MTV with absolutely no music videos, and virtually no radio play, and still became a huge band by this time.
They were one of the last "top" bands to join the "Video Era" wanting people to instead form their own ideas from their songs. When they finally made a video they went all the hell in.

The main one that is wrestled in the US is folkstyle where you are simply trying to pin your opponent on their back, but in freestyle, you are trying to "toss/throw" your opponent. Some of the tosses can be pretty insane; especially the suplexes! Hopefully, you guys see this and make a video on it, my notifications are turned on so hope to see it soon, Cheers!

Different band, but Alice in Chains would be a good choice to react to. Songs such as *Don’t Follow, Down in a hole, I Stay Away, Junkhead, Dirt, Them Bones, Shame In You, No Excuses, Sickman* and oh so many others. Please consider it. Like so they can see.
I rented this movie from my local video store (I’m old, get off my lawn) when I was a teenager, after this video came out. It was the most depressing 3 hours of movie I’ve ever watched. When it was over, I didn’t want to move, I didn’t want to do anything. I just rolled over and went to sleep. I can still remember how I felt. Metallica was against doing any sort of videos, until this. When they did a video they wanted it to be more than just some generic crap. I’d say they succeeded.
When this video made #1 on MTV's weekly top ten (if I remember correctly), every metalhead I knew, including myself, felt a sense of "See? Told you this shit was better than that pop crap you've been listening to." Still is.
You dudes do some of the best Reactions out there, I love how now your Three Metalheads now instead of just one showing his mates, Loving the videos, I recommend some bands like Unfathomable Ruination, Cradle Of Filth, Vulvodynia, Behemoth, and Megadeth for some Variety for the lads
I saw them 3 times before this came out. It was them and the other three metal bands for a while. One that should have been in to make it 5 bands, is Testament". Some say they sound like Black Sabbath. They came out one year before this movie did in 1970, and had 4 amazing albums in a row. Jason Robards was in great movies for decades too. All the Presidents Men -- Magnolia -- A Boy and His Dog... he had 53 years of acting, movies and tv series...
I would love to see you react to Pantera. Domination live in Moscow. Metallica also played that show. There was 1.6 million people there. Walk is also a good song
Hello Gents! Hope that you're staying as safe as possible! ........--- if you look for the Live version of this on UA-cam, you may find the version from the Seattle Washington Kingdome Concert 1989! And Justice For All- had just been released and we hadn't even heard it yet, which Metallica confirmed for us on stage. They played Harvester of Sorrow and Blackened first, and then----- One. That was literally one of the first times that this song was performed live. We were dumbfounded (obviously) by the first few minutes of it, and then; Blown Away! Still am : ) SO glad that they won the Grammy for this in 1989! They deserved it, is an understatement. Cheers!
I'm sure I'm late to the party with this but TLDR this song was written after the band saw this old movie, way before their time, and wrote this song about it not for a soundtrack this song came decades after the movie. Keep up the good work.
Just found your channel, keep up the great work! If Daz liked this song and wants to hear more great Metallica, check out "Master of Puppets," "Creeping Death," "Fade To Black," and/or "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
Metallica owns the rights to “Johnny got his gun” buying the rights were cheaper then paying the creators every time the song got played. Plus this was Metallica’s first video release so it was bound to get massive MTV play.

Been waiting for this for a while. That ENTIRE album is the pinacle of perfection, save for the audio mastering. Give it a good listen and you will see, the bass guitar tracks are PHENOMENAL, but Lars ( the drummer) had the sound engineer turn the bass WAY down.

This song was performed at the Grammys and everyone was dumbfounded by what they saw and heard...Classic
Do any song from the first couple Metallica albums....be prepared to get blown away. Insanely awesome
you guys gotta react to the unforgiven and nothing else matters by metallica
Masterpiece
Different band, but Alice in Chains would be a good choice to react to. Songs such as
*Don’t Follow, Down in a hole, I Stay Away, Junkhead, Dirt, Them Bones, Shame In You, No Excuses, Sickman*
and oh so many others.
Thanks Brian!
So the song was based on the book Johnny's got his gun and the clips were taken from the movie.
When the middle section of the song automatically wanna make you headbanging
I saw them do this at the NEC on the black album tour sadly Jason was still with them and they were at their best.
The Kings.
Slice the cake- stone and silver part 1-the mountains of man
Just found your channel, keep up the great work!
If Daz liked this song and wants to hear more great Metallica, check out "Master of Puppets," "Creeping Death," "Fade To Black," and/or "For Whom the Bell Tolls".
Andrew Reynolds thanks Andrew. Think we will be doing more Metallica. 👍🏻
Metallica owns the rights to “Johnny got his gun” buying the rights were cheaper then paying the creators every time the song got played. Plus this was Metallica’s first video release so it was bound to get massive MTV play.
Great reaction! I love this song. I'd love more Metallica reaction, but randomly I though - Yall should listen to some Stevie Ray Vaughn. Texas Blues, amazing!
Trivium guys! Anything from the two last albums.
It’s hard to find a good pause spot in this song good job on the spots you did. Most pause it at the drum solo or the guitar solo
I'm back and subscribing cause I think you could kick off, keen for some good music.
Metallica For Whom The Bell Tolls is a great song, give that one a listen guys.
they used to listen to a little band called Budgie and covered 2 of their songs, check them out
You gotta react to Master of puppets and ride the lightning albums.
Aria - "Angel Dust" please, epic russian heavy metall
Master of Puppets y’all !!!!!!!!!
Metallica is the single greatest rock/metal band of all time... period
@@user-cg9cy1el5u cool, but its definitely #1
Соло Хэмметта из «One» заняло 7 место в списке «100 лучших соло на гитаре» по выбору читателей журнала «Guitar World»[4].
«One» занимает 17 место в списке «100 лучших песен в жанре метал» по версии Digital Dream Door[5].
«One» выиграла премию «Грэмми» за лучшее выступление в жанре метал в 1990 году, когда данная номинация и была впервые учреждена[6].
it wasn't written for a movie. they just got the rights to use the footage.
Been waiting for this for a while. That ENTIRE album is the pinacle of perfection, save for the audio mastering. Give it a good listen and you will see, the bass guitar tracks are PHENOMENAL, but Lars ( the drummer) had the sound engineer turn the bass WAY down.
