So these are what Amazon clarinets are like???

  • As mentioned in the video, I don’t think I would recommend this instrument for a high school symphonic band, and would only use it for beginner band (maybe in middle school) or as a second clarinet for marching band if you need one that is not a wooden clarinet. I used something similar to this clarinet when I did marching band as I used a wooden clarinet in my wind symphony and needed an affordable second clarinet to march with. So I think for those two usages, this clarinet would be good, and that is what I meant the rating that I gave (7). Hopefully this explanation is good and it helps you on your future journey!
    Also, another big thank you to my friend Seby Amador for presenting the clarinet as "The Beginner"! You can find all of his links here: linktr.ee/sebyamador
    Thank you again to VANGOA for sponsoring this video! You can find the clarinet in the video here: www.amazon.com/dp/B0964ZGXXV

The beginner really sounds good 😄😄😄 my first clarinet was a J Michaels that I bought in second hand for 40 euros... it sounds a lot like that one, very airy. Thank you guys! I'm glad you're posting!

    I bought an el cheapo clarinet and it came with 10 reeds! The were all hard as nails. Like lollypop sticks. The mouthpiece was beyond bad. I changed the mouthpiece and put on a good reed. Shiiiit its a great instrument!!!!!!

    As someone who has played flute her whole life I’m at a point in my life where I wanna learn a new instrument. Mind you I’m 36 and haven’t played music for like 5+yrs I’ve been wanting to play clarinet. I’ve enjoyed this video.

      Go for it. I only played flute for years, and at age 40 tried clarinet. It is now my main instrument. I never really appreciated the huge range clarinets have and now love them. I will never be a professional, but I'm good enough to play 3rd (or sometimes even 2nd) clarinet in a community band. I use a Conn Selmer Prelude clarinet since I mostly perform outside. It is reasonably priced and works well as long as you upgrade the mouthpiece and ligature.

    I ordered an Amazon one for $75 bucks (Mendini). I just wanted to teach myself. I was in the middle school band when I was a teen and played trumpet. I felt this was perfect for a beginner. The reed came with 2 1/2 and of course, it is an instrument to play with for sound. It took me 2 hrs to make a "good " sound. The squeaks are crazy but fun!

  • @traingirl09

    I played a Selmer clarinet during my jr. high band days. I have recently picked it back up after 20 years and along with learning the flute (which I ironically just got off of Amazon too). The sound quality is not too bad given the price. I would say that this would be the perfect instrument for a child or an adult to begin with before investing in something else of higher quality. I am also thinking of getting a second clarinet so I do not damage on main one for when I travel for work. Great review!

      I’m sorry that you didn’t enjoy that part! My thought was to try to get him to play the instrument without teaching him anything so that it would be a true beginner playing the clarinet, and thus reflect the product in the three different ways. But now in retrospect, I think teaching him beforehand, even if a little bit, would’ve been a better idea. Thank you for the comment and will make sure to keep the suggestion in mind for a future video!

    Clarinet straps? When did that become a thing? Played clarinet from elementary to high school, but never encountered anyone use a strap on a clarinet-even for marching band. I never recall feeling tired holding a clarinet-even as a kid. Then again, we didn’t really have “cheap brands” back then. The cheapest brands most kids had were maybe the buffet’s $500-800 series (in the 80s). This was before the internet mind you, so you relied on the things that were sold at your local music shop. 😊. Beginners usually did the rent-to-own thing.

    If this was a 7-8... what would be a 10 on your scale?

    • @JKimzzle
      @JKimzzle  11 місяців тому +1

      I think it’s a 7-8 for a marching clarinet, simply due to its price and quality reflective of that. If we are talking about all clarinets in general, I think it’s around a 4 with something like a E11 being a 7 and a R13 being a 8.5
