I’ve been playing Clarinet for almost 5 years now, and my mom got me this as a birthday present, since my Selmer Clarinet was needing more and more repairs done. I’m having to upgrade from this Clarinet to a Yamaha one. It would not stop squeaking, it was hard to put together, and felt extremely dry. We didn’t realize that this is just for people trying to get a feel for the instrument. Nice review though
Thank you so much for this review. My 8th-grader has been playing clarinet this year and I just wanted to get him something he could play during the summer to keep his skills up. This seems like the perfect solution!
One of my clarinet students bought a glory clarinet and it was so difficult to put together. The ligature wants to slide off and the corks are so tight I have to use all my strength to put it together. Just a nightmare.
@@Jared_De_Leon lies. They sent this to multiple other people who also did same video around same time as you. Bet there was no “honest opinion” thing either and they just told you to say that or you made it up. This is just a rebrand that comes from the same factory as Hisonic. You sir are a lowlife.
Hi there. My son needs a clarinet for this fall semester until he uses a saxophone in the Spring. Are these decent for several months until he gets the saxophone? Thanks for uploading this video - good info. 😊
Have you heard about Moresky clarinets? And do you think buffet and those bigs names might be too hyped/overpriced? Like an instrument shouldn't cost 5000-10000 in my opinion unless it's a custom
Looks like a basic Chinese instrument, I doubt it’s very good. Like I said in the review Chinese instruments can be okay but even a student level Yamaha will be better. You don’t have to spend $5k to get a good pro level horn, but some of the instruments in that price range are definitely worth it. I love my Uebel Superior for example.
@@Jared_De_Leon I see...I used to want to become a pro musician, but now I just play for fun/hobby - I want to get a G clarinet (I see most Eastern clarinet players play Ohler system) I have Paul Kurt Wurtlitzer 2071 Bb clarinet or just B I guess - it's a Oehler system, made from wood, but idk if it's considered good? it's definetly not $1000 or more or a Buffet, but then again idk how much the brand matters tbh I am thinking about either tuning my existing Wurtlitzer tuned up or perhaps selling it to buy some other clarinet in B or G...I never used boehm, so I want to rent it out and see if I like it more (they say it's easier), but I don't want to spend like thousands for a hobby you know? I heard you can buy plastic clarinet and change the bell/barrel with wood and still have a good sound?
Axios O7 if you just want to try out a Boehm clarinet I would buy a refurbished Artley or Armstrong, which you can sometimes find for under $100. I wouldn’t bother with a wood barrel in your situation, it makes no difference to the sound. I would get a good mouthpiece instead.
@@Jared_De_Leon Thank you very much...I will take a look at those two brands For mouthpiece - there seems to be a loooot of options, I was looking to get Rico B5 or C5 (they seem afordable and good?) - what would you recommend?
You can use it for deco your home ! It is no fun to use it. By chatting you find no good instrument, find a teacher you trust, and better take a used optmided instrument with a *new* mouthpieth, there are lots of ! , and a good reed (This is what a motor is for a car!). GOOD LUCK !!!
Hi Jared, what is your opinion on the Selmer CL300? I have an old one but in pretty good shape and the low end sounds better than the model you are playing there. Some people complain the keys on the Selmer feel a bit "clunky"
Carl N Noblets are great for the money, you can get them refurbished for a few hundred dollars. There’s also instruments like the Buffet E11 and the older Evette and Evette and Schaefer clarinets which can be quite good. Yamaha 32s and 450s are also easy to find used, but are in higher demand and can demand a higher price.
@@Jared_De_Leon im having trouble with the mouthpiece, looks simple. but while playing. all i hear is the mouthpiece. not the actual barrel of the clarinet. when i remove the mouthpice. it sounds the same as if it was on the actual clarinet...
@@Socalrg69 I would have your clarinet instructor try it out and see if they can identify the problem. It may have been damaged in shipping in that case.

@@wish956 it’s time to upgrade in that case. You can get a used Yamaha or Vito for $200-$300. Look for one with synthetic or leather pads as they will last longer than skin pads.
@Jared_De_Leon yeah but im doing this as a hobby and its my last year in school band so im probably gonna quit in the next summer and i am not going to use 400 bucks on a part timw thing
@@wish956 you might have luck with some of those cheap “universal” sets of pads on Amazon and eBay. Probably won’t last any longer than the originals but you won’t have much to loose.
Most of these cheap clarinets are horrible, most of them are shorter, making the player permanently out of tune. I would suggest coughing up the money and buying a student model Yamaha

I believe he bought his instruments himself whereas Eastar reached out to me and asked me to review their instrument. Yeah pretty weird timing though.
