I am 68 and live in my Runaway Rouser. I started out with just me but now I have rescued 2 dogs. When I was on the road all the time I stayed at truck stops Cracker Barrel and rest areas. I met a lot of really nice people I have felt unsafe only twice did I move. Yup. I do have several forms of protection. Right now I am camp host at a Louisiana state park. I still travel on a few weekends to runaway rally’s my health has improved and being camp host I am saving money to travel more next year. There are a lot of us old ladies that travel by ourselves. Get yourself a runaway not a tent go to runaway rallies they are a lot of fun and you will meet a lot of happy great people 😍😍
Thank you so much for watching! I totally agree with everything you say and I’m going to my first Runaway Rally at the end of March! Can’t wait. I wish you good health and Happy Camping!
Watched this video again. You’re so right on how camping gives you something to look forward too. My little Runaway gives me just that. I used to only do a couple of big things a year. Now I camp once a month on small trips and it’s so much better.
I enjoy your videos and thank you for the safety tips. The one concerning move on if it doesn’t feel right is very important. I only had to leave once after setting up camp and I still feel that was the correct decision. Take care and safe travels !!
Always be flexible with regards to weather. I live in Colorado where the weather can literally change in a minute! I was on a camping trip that started out in sunny, 80 degree weather and it got cooler and windier each day. The forecast was for snow/rain the last day so l packed up and left early. Plus I was camping on an island that required me to kayak out to so no way was l doing that in freezing, snowy, windy conditions.
I love your videos! You do a great job capturing your surroundings, the dialogue is engaging, and your personality is absolutely adorable! Thanks for the content!
I, too, am a widowed solo camper with a CoolCamp and a bit older than you. I was tent camping until my body said no more. The CoolCamp is GREAT, if it rains there is no need to dry it out and fold it up. I don't need all the amenities of the larger campers. I just need a place to sleep and keep me dry. I camp in paid camp sites cause I feel safer. As you stated, to each his own. Most campers you meet are the nicest people, after all, they are doing the same thing as you. When I leave the campsite for a drive around the area, the only thing left there is the camper itself. Everything else is put away, so there is nothing to entice the "shoppers". I also carry Mountain House meals since I'm not a chef. I've found them very good if you follow the instruction exactly. As you stated, camping is so good for the body and mind and I return home feeling so much better. My average trips are 25 to 30 days at a time. Thanks for the videos, got a few more to watch. Happy camping.
Larry, thanks for watching and for your kind words. I’m setting up in Quartzite as we speak so hope to have something new in the near future. Happy Camping 🏕️
I’ve been traveling alone, camping, hiking, kayaking alone for decades and have had very few problems. The biggest problem is getting away from other people who won’t leave me alone. I rarely go to actual campgrounds because l want to get as far away from people as possible.
Because nobody says I may? My experience with boondocking is that it seems to be quite often about the person and her character in the first place too, we bring our persons and behaviors, don't we?. What do I mean? A croc close to a swamp may feal completly different from a 6 month young Zebra at the same place. (1) So as usual we all talk about ourselfs in the first place when expressing our needs and wishes. But first of all thank you very much for this wonderful video from a truely great location - I enjoyed every minute! 1 - I prefer steak over jam
It was good to meet you in Quartzsite back in January, Steve! Safety is a bit of a concern for women especially. But situational awareness and trusting your gut goes a long way. Cheers!
Linda, thanks for watching, what a nice surprise. It was wonderful talking with you back in January, I remember you said my Runaway was the first one you had seen in the wild. How things have changed. I’m planning to go to Q again this winter, just don’t know when or for how long. Hope our paths cross again someday, until then, Happy Camping !
Hello Steve! We enjoy meeting fellow UA-camrs and campers! Very beautiful view! Can't beat free... I am hoping to not have to camp alone but thanks for the tips, just in case! I have no problem carrying protection anywhere I go... Stay safe out there! 💙Terry and Terri
Terry and Terri, thanks for watching and introducing me to your channel. You have a trailer, that is awesome! Maybe someday our paths will cross? Until then, Happy Camping 🏕️
Such a beautiful place. Where is this campsite located if it's ok to ask? Just wrapped up chemo health is on the upside again. Hitting the road sometime in the fall hopefully. Have a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and thinking about getting the Napier tent. Looking for beautiful places to explore. Great Channel! Very inspirational
David, thanks for watching and glad to hear you’re feeling better. I don’t know where you’re coming from but this campsite is on the Mogollon Rim above Payson Arizona on forest Road 9350. If you watch my videos you know I have the Napier tent and like it very much. Getting outside makes me feel better and I hope it does the same for you! If I can be of anymore help please let me know.
Grate video hope you had a grate Thanksgiving
