Wait you mean that when all the good hearted law abiding citizens are armed, there are a lot less bad people acting up??? Imagine that. 🤔😎😁 Hahaha I’ve always been very curious about Texas man, for the bass fishing alone. 🎣😎 Happy camping. 👊🏽
Years ago my Boy Scout troop would schedule nighttime vigils of 2 hours each where 2 scouts would take turns awake tending a campfire and remaining alert (12am-2am; 2am-4am; 4am-6am). Many a solid friendship was forged around those campfires. There's no way of knowing how many interlopers, seeing people awake, passed us by over the years. If camping in a group, this might be an option. Some love to stay up really late while others normally get up early. It's usually a win-win situation.
One of my favourite mess-with their-head ideas, when I'm parking my truck beside a logging road to go for a hike, is to leave an open ammunition box with the empty insert beside it on the seat. Nobody's going to think "Oh, he must have a rifle behind the seat." For food storage, whether you leave your cooler in your vehicle or hang a bear cache, is to clip one of those mesh tea eggs on top, with a cotton ball inside with a couple of drops of citronella oil on it. Bears, and probably other night raiders, really hate that smell, which will be a lot stronger than the food stored inside.
Hahaha nice 😎😁🤙🏽 And cool yeah that’s a great idea for the food, usually around here there are bear lockers at each site to put your stuff in so that’s helpful but if not definitely going to try that thanks! 😊
It was close to bed time and flipping through channels I came across you folks. 3 vids later I was in total agreement with every single point you've mentioned. The wife and I are Overlanders in Washington State. We enjoyed your topics, broken down in number you are sharing great information through nice personalities. Stay safe guys, stay smart.
WE USE TO SET UP TRAIL CAMS FOR OVERNIGHTS, WE NOW USE BATTERY OP RING MONITOR WITH ADDED VELCRO TO PUT ANYWHERE. SAVED OUR DOG FROM A SKUNK & A NASTY RACOON. PLUS WE WATCHED THE RACOON ON OUR CELLPHONE FROM INSIDE THE TENT. TO KNOW WHAT IS OUT THERE IS KEY TO DAMPENING ANXIETY
At trail heads, campsites, rest areas, before I leave the car I fold down both the driver + passenger sunshades. Makes it look like two people traveling together. Stopping at fast food place and eating outside I stand on the passenger side of the car. Makes it appear the "driver" is inside the business. Great video.
Thanks! 👊🏽😃 Yeah unfortunately it is… and like we mentioned most of the time it’s all good, it’s just smart to at least be mindful and prepared in case it isn’t.

Boy, camping out west sounds like the Deliverance movie. Camping is about leaving the hustle and criminals behind. 😋 I did have a few racoons working around my campsite on Columbus day while I was cooking. Had no shame.
dang raccoons stole my shrimp and my cartons of capri drinks out of my cooler when camping on Cumberland Island in Georgia--they didnt use the straws, though, but left the little drink boxes littered out in the palmetto bushes.
Getting ready to take some long camping trips soon. I took training to shoot my pistol 4 yrs ago, a short version of police training. I am planning to go get a refresher because I haven't been practicing. This time I'm going to apply for my CCW, which is recognized in 35 other states. At least I'll have it if needed and it will be legal to have in my vehicle. For everyday road travel, I will have my pepper spray (that paints the attacker blue) and a taser with a safety feature. I believe in being prepared.
Great sensible tips, thanks. I will leave a note more often. A led touch with single blindingly bright beam in the eyes should discourage a few undesirables.
Funny story...me and my 12 yo son went on a weight loss retreat at the lake for swimming and hiking. This huge hard party crowd of young ppl Sons of Anarchy types set up camping near us and stole our coolers in the middle of the night. The park host found our cottage cheese, salad makings, turkey tofu, diet soda, and diet fig newtons thrown around the men’s restroom the next morning like someone was pissed about what they stole-probably expected beer, chips, steak, pop, hot dogs 😂
It is a great tip IF you have a vehicle large enough to carry all the extra gear to do that!! In my case I own a Toyota Camry, so when I camp space is limited, and I can't make a bunch of extra trips home for more chairs or what ever!!
lol I too have a Camry. I havent camped in probably 25 yrs and right now I dont have a camping friend, but this female still wants to camp so I may go alone to a state park & luv that extra chair idea@@gregbenwell6173
To #10: I just bought a Super Bright flashlight. It can be shined into the eyes of a tent's intruder, when It's dark, especially, which will blind them temporarily, giving you perhaps a little time to attack or run. I also keep a very sharp long campfire fork in my tent, as a weapon, if necessary. Humans, only. Would never try to stab a bear, LOL!
That’s so nice of you to say! Really really appreciate it. ☺️ Very glad to hear you are enjoying the content. Thanks for watching and hope you have a great time camping! Btw. We live in California, haha but we are from Morris County, NJ. 😃
My pitbull warned me about an approaching bear. The bear wasn't looking for trouble and left us alone. Maybe he just got annoyed by my dog barking 😂 but regardless, i would have never known that bear was inbound.
Hey thanks a lot, really appreciate it. 👊🏽😊 Haha yeah that’s definitely always a sensitive topic. I hope it didn’t come off like a cop-out, but I really do believe that is a very personal decision for someone to make.
I take it personally when i'm camping / riding atv's, etcetera, and i have a firearm and they don't. They expect me to have their six, yet they don't have mine. Kind of one way if you ask me. I like to tell them i have their back Exactly like they have mine. . .if their life is on the line, i'll call 911 for them ( IF cell servive is available ). Kind of clarifies things for them. I've had several women say they could never shoot / kill Anything ( as If that's an excuse ), so i'll casually bring up a scenario of someone attempting to kidnap-rape-kill their child and watch them turn into possessed Tasmanian Devils. I ask them if they would use a firarm to save their child, and every one has said YES ! What kind of parent would say No ? ! . . . ☆
I typically carry my .357 magnum revolver with me when I go camping. Especially if it’s deep in the mountains or in unfamiliar places. Just make sure you know the laws in the area you are camping in,whether it be a State Park or in another State you don’t live in. I recommend getting your permit to carry and take classes on firearms training if you want to go that route. Not only do you need to know the laws in that area, but you also have to keep safety a top priority when camping with a firearm.
NO NO No! I just recently found your channel. And I have really enjoyed watching it. And even recommended it to some friends. Here is why I say NO. I was at Lake Eufala, OK a couple years ago. This entire campground- everyone brought 1-3 dogs. Except us. I was so sick of listening to the non-stop barking by day 2 we left on the morning of day 3 during a 5 day trip. Between that and people playing ANY music too loud. I have and suffer with a mild fear of unknown dogs and really bad misophonia. But the worst was I gathered my things and walked to the shower and the minute I walked in a HUGE German Shepherd jumped ON ME. I thought I was gonna die from the panic attack I had. The lady kept saying. “Oh he’s just a big baby”. Lady, I don’t care if Jesus hisself told me this was the best dog he ever made. It has not right to jump on someone and scare them to death. Why was the dog IN the bathroom?!?! I am a well experienced camper. Rustic and hardly any glamping
Thanks glad you’re enjoying the videos! 😊🤙🏽 Yeah you really need to make sure your dog is the kind of dog that can behave in that setting if you’re going to bring them along for sure. Also I completely understand, when I was 6 years old a bigger dog attacked me and bit into the left side of my face. 50 stitches. Plastic surgery. Lost a lot of blood. Wasn’t pretty. Obviously that sort of thing can traumatize anyone especially a 6 year old, so even to this day I still have that in the back of my mind when I see a bigger dog I don’t know.
I agree about going with your gut feeling in situations. Often times our spirit is alert to present danger even when our intellectual mind isn't. Some call it the sixth sense when it may actually be a protective God given alarm system. Thank you for the educational video many people should watch this. You have another subscriber. 🥳🤗😂👍
Awesome video. Just looked up camping security after I seen the guy that got murdered by a machete camping near Yellowstone. Stay safe out there and great video.
Wow haven’t heard about that, that’s horrible. 🤦🏻♂️ Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Stay safe out there 👊🏽
No actually, haha this video was the first ever video where we tried the GoPro Hero 10, and we shot the whole thing in a format that my computer wouldn’t recognize at the time! Lol so instead of reshooting the entire thing, had to convert all the files so that it would work and that’s why this video tops out at 1080p and looks a little grainy. 🤦🏻♂️😂 But thanks glad you enjoyed the info, this exact video came very close to not even existing. 🤗😁
@@WhereWeWild Been camping in these Montana Mountains for 60+ years, alone (with dogs) as a Woman. I'm preparing for a 5 month camping road trip right now, alone with my dog. I live here, but every Summer I have to run further up into the woods to get away from all the tourists so I just pack everything up, shut down the house and get. Safety while camping is ALL about being prepared for anything that *could possibly* happen. And always carry protection. I think you are doing a great job helping folks overcome their fears about camping. Every Family should experience camping together.
Wow that’s awesome! 😎 We have yet to visit Montana but we have wanted to for a long time. Hopefully we will make that happen soon. It must be beautiful up there. Thanks so much for the kind words we really appreciate it, and we hope you have a fun and safe trip. 😊
Range is good. But if I had to pick one spray to get it would be Bear Spray. No contest. That’s gonna spray farther than anything else and be the most powerful.
When we go camping, on the edges of our camp setup we put Beware of Rottweiler signs. We have 2 German Rottweilers, most people see the signs and don't try to get within 100ft of us 😂
Wait, are we talking being safe for bears..? I thought we were talking about people! 😂 I way more worried about humans since I’ve only ever been purposefully hurt by them! Nice video though- I subscribed
Just because someone chooses to take a gun camping with them doesn't mean they're going to get drunk and shoot up the campsite. It sounds like you've had some bad experiences with some obnoxious people. I personally take my pistol with me whenever I'm camping. I have a license to carry and have taken safety courses. I used to live in NM and we would camp in some very remote places where there was a VERY real possibility of wild animal attacks. You shouldn't judge everyone by the actions of a few.@@BLAlley
It would be funny if someone left another note. Unfortunately you're setting yourself up for a false sense of security. What difference does a note make & would an intruder read it anyway?? Less than 30 seconds & they're gone with all your gear never to be seen again... Vigilance is the best security, however if a thief wants something they'll take it & all that security equipment does is slow them down... There's no such thing as foolproof.
@@PeterKnagge It’s better than having absolutely nothing to protect your stuff while you’re gone man. We started using this after finding that someone had tried to break open one of our door handles with a screwdriver or some sort of tool, while we had priceless items in the car as we were driving across the country to move to California from the east coast with all our belongings. They didn’t get in thankfully, but we’ve never had an experience like that since using this technique. Even if all it does is give you a false sense of security while you’re away is worth it alone so you can enjoy yourself a bit more without as much worry, but I guarantee that anyone who comes across it will at the very least have to think twice about it. 😎
@@WhereWeWild I didn't write my comment out of spite, however unfortunately on the other hand thieves can be shockingly brazen and ignorance isn't always bliss. I have all the security gizmos and gadgets, however I try and make sure the car is parked in the safest well lit highly visible area and as I wrote before vigilance is the best security. Good luck! 🙂
@@PeterKnagge Right on. Yeah it’s simply just a clever way of making people have to question wether or not they have the time to bust out a window or attempt to break in without anyone showing up to catch them doing it. 😊
LOL German shepherds don't weigh 200 pounds, and if they do, they are of no help! 🙂I like the airhorn idea... these things are underrated. I just got two out of the garage, pressed on real quick to see it it still works, and my ear has been ringing for the last 10 mins! The gut feeling thing is a difficult one... it would help if you learned to listen to it... In our society we have largely unlearned that skill!
Not sure where you guys are, I'm up in Sonoma County and a CCW is a pain but not too difficult to get here. So, 10mm for me and 9mm for the wife. Mountain lions are no problem for just about any pistol cartridge, bears and bad people are a different story, this is why we have bear spray to go along with our other defenses, I've used bear spray a few times up near Lake Alpine and it worked well.
I strongly disagree. 😂 A quality brand of bear spray shoots 20-30 feet and is way more powerful. It shoots in a wide pattern fog that covers way more area where as the hornet spray shoots in a thin stream. You’d have to have the perfect aim (in a panic with a bear charging mind you) and have to hit the bear directly in the eyes, and even then I’m not confident that would be effective. My advice is to use the bear spray on bears, and hornet spray on the hornets, but that is your choice.
@@christigoodeating It’s possible 🤷🏻♂️ Depending on how close the sites are together or how nosey the other people around are 😁 I bet most people would barely take a second glance. But I’d probably try and pick a site that isn’t so easy to see into like on top of a hill, or has trees and bushes surrounding, and also use the multi chair trick. 😊
If I ever go camping, I'll definitely take some type of firearm with me, along with plenty of ammo, maybe even a very sharp machete. No way I'm going to be out in the wilderness completely defenseless.
Hey it’s like I mentioned in this video… you hope you never need it, and odds are you probably won’t. It’s just always smarter to have something and not need it, then need something and not have it. 🤙🏽
Nice… hey, especially if you don’t have anything else around either… sounds like a great idea to me! 👊🏽 Tampons too are classic for nose bleeds in organized sports, also that cotton makes excellent fire starter! 😎🤙🏽
Id suggest get a pack of quikclot and always apply pressure until if needed when you get to a hospital or emergency responders can help properly. Wouldn’t suggest using something that absorbs, you’re already leaking your human juice, let’s not use something else that is promoting that.

From personal experience if forced to camp near a town be extra vigilant. (Use your judgement on what “near” means.)
Can you elaborate on that a little? 🤔
I love the Empire Records reference.😂
Niiice 😃🤙🏽 You’re in my cool book 😎
This was filmed on a gopro 8? Great video guys i love the tips, hoping theres no thieves watching this haha
Get a battery powered motion light
Nice 😎🤙🏽
Never thought of that. Great idea.
I also use the motion lights with a loud alarm
Perimeter strings with bells attached, my ears are tuned to hear them. Sometimes wind sets them off and I’m on higher alert
Battery powered motion sensor lights are pretty sweet too 🤙🏽
Great advice.
Thanks. Glad you think so 😊🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild Been camping in these Montana Mountains for 60+ years, alone (with dogs) as a Woman.
I heard wasp spray would be good, due to the range.
Range is good. But if I had to pick one spray to get it would be Bear Spray. No contest. That’s gonna spray farther than anything else and be the most powerful.
Wasp spray will do literally nothing unless you're a wasp.
Even the spraying of Deep Woods Off, makes for a good defense .
I would recommend take a stop the bleed course.
CPR is useful knowledge too huh… God forbid.
I lock the inside zipper with a luggage lock ❤❤❤❤
Great video Broda..🥰
I am from bangladesh..
As a Travel lover boy, this video is very helpfull for me.
I need some travel equipment. What can i do?
Thank you sir! 😊 Travel equipment? Idk… but if you’re wondering what to buy for camping, we have a video on that. 🤙🏽
@@WhereWeWild okay thanks..🤍
If u have any fb id? Plz give me the fb link..
When we go camping, on the edges of our camp setup we put Beware of Rottweiler signs. We have 2 German Rottweilers, most people see the signs and don't try to get within 100ft of us 😂
Lol there ya go 😎😁🤙🏽
That I'll be back in 10 mins note is clever I'm gonna start doing that !
Good one. 😎🤙🏽
Wait, are we talking being safe for bears..? I thought we were talking about people! 😂 I way more worried about humans since I’ve only ever been purposefully hurt by them! Nice video though- I subscribed
Haha yeah smart to be prepared for both 😁🤙🏽 Thanks! Really appreciate it. 😊😊😊😊
If you carry a firearm, your CCW will carry over to some states. But always check the laws in the state you will be traveling and camping.
Very important information. Make sure your license reciprocates.
Also buy big shoes even from a thrift store and put it in front of your tent at night
Hahaha I just use my size 14’s 😁🤙🏽
😂😂😂😂
Bigfoot invented to sleep over😂😂😂
It's funny
But very good idea.
I will do it if by myself along with a big jacket hanging outside 🤷🏼♀️
Smart!
good idea
I'll give you three here they are in order 357
Hahaha 😁
Just because someone chooses to take a gun camping with them doesn't mean they're going to get drunk and shoot up the campsite. It sounds like you've had some bad experiences with some obnoxious people. I personally take my pistol with me whenever I'm camping. I have a license to carry and have taken safety courses. I used to live in NM and we would camp in some very remote places where there was a VERY real possibility of wild animal attacks. You shouldn't judge everyone by the actions of a few.@@BLAlley
I always go with my gut insticts everytime I have left several campsites before the gut is always right!
Right on man 👊🏽😊
Bear spray doesn't work take a bug zapper racket or zapper stick once they get a taste of that they will leave you alone
Did you mean to say bear spray or bug spray 😂😂😂😂
@@WhereWeWild bear spray doesn't work
@@keithtaylor6259 So you’re saying use a bug zapper racket on a bear. 🐻😃
@WhereWeWild using a bug zapper racket on a 2 legged predator is the closest I will ever come to having a real life light saber
The dog comments 🤣🙂
Add a trail camera and monitor lights
Motion lights work great 😎🤙🏽
love the mess with the minds idea!
😎🤙🏽
Purchase a Bang Stick > 12ga.
Car alarm for loud noises to scare people and maybe animals.
That’ll work 😎🤙🏽
I always came with my imaginary friend, Rod Thruster! He scares everyone away!😮🤓😡🤪
😂😂😂😂
What about a 12ga trip alarm
😂🤙🏽
LOL German shepherds don't weigh 200 pounds, and if they do, they are of no help! 🙂I like the airhorn idea... these things are underrated. I just got two out of the garage, pressed on real quick to see it it still works, and my ear has been ringing for the last 10 mins! The gut feeling thing is a difficult one... it would help if you learned to listen to it... In our society we have largely unlearned that skill!
Lol I tend to slightly exaggerate for laughs 😉😁🤙🏽
cool 😊
😊🤙🏽
Just found y’all’s channel! Immediate sub from me. You seem super genuine and fun!
Hey thanks so much! ☺️ We really appreciate it! Welcome to the channel! 👊🏽😃
Always go locked & loaded in the wilds
Only problem with dogs is that they are often responsible for going out and stirring up trouble with a bear and then lead it right back to you.
Haha I thought you were going to say they bark too much 😁
Chihuahuas are meaner than German shepherds and they can hear better..trust me i have 3 and they fit anywhere
Hahahaha they are mean 😂😂😂😂
I have a meannn looking Chinese dou that has a 22 inch bead I’m taking camping this weekend
A tourniquet…never know
One woman said she was having trouble with 3 guys one time and pretty much incapacitated all 3 of them with bear spray. I don't doubt it. 😂
Good gun advice. If you don’t have proper training, please consider leaving your firearm at home. 11:54
Thanks 👊🏽
David did kill that bear 2
Not sure where you guys are, I'm up in Sonoma County and a CCW is a pain but not too difficult to get here. So, 10mm for me and 9mm for the wife. Mountain lions are no problem for just about any pistol cartridge, bears and bad people are a different story, this is why we have bear spray to go along with our other defenses, I've used bear spray a few times up near Lake Alpine and it worked well.
Cool we’ve been up that way on a few trips 😊 We are in the Santa Clarita area. But yeah hey better safe than sorry that’s for sure. 👊🏽
don't bring bear spray or mace, bring hornet spray , it shoots 25 feet
I strongly disagree. 😂 A quality brand of bear spray shoots 20-30 feet and is way more powerful. It shoots in a wide pattern fog that covers way more area where as the hornet spray shoots in a thin stream. You’d have to have the perfect aim (in a panic with a bear charging mind you) and have to hit the bear directly in the eyes, and even then I’m not confident that would be effective. My advice is to use the bear spray on bears, and hornet spray on the hornets, but that is your choice.
What deters MOOSE?😅
Oooooooo, I’m learning!!! :)
yes people are the most dangerous animals as are the little things like ticks and mosquitoes!
Learn to safely and effectively use a firearm
Won’t people who are watching see that you are alone?
Hmmmmm not sure what you mean 🤔 Like people watching you at your site?
@@WhereWeWild yes

A great trauma bandage for heavy bleeding is ( believe it or not ) a maxipad . Made for blood and individual wrapped so its sterile . Just sayin
Indeed, and tampons to stuff into any bullet holes.
Good gear very reliable vehicle AK47 hand gun take others armed food water pay attention around you
